Opinions de Dosa Point East Palo Alto
I have searched the Bay Area for over a decade for a dosa that reminds me of a good Bangalore dosa. The freshness of the ingredients - the delicately sautéed onions, chillies, sitting on top of a warm crispy but soft inside potatoes all wrapped up within the goodness that is a dosa! Accompanied with a fresh coconut chutney, tomato chutney and a sambar which is mild with a sweetness in it I recommend the Mylapore dosa Plan ahead, weekends can be pretty busy!
It’s my second time visiting this restaurant, it looks simple from the outside but it’s well decorated and the food is amazing. I got the creamy chicken dosa and it was DELICIOUS. We also got chilli paneer and egg dosa. Lots of variety.
Incredible food and kind service! Dosa Point offers a good mix of meat and veg-based Northern and Southern Indian food. My go-to dosa is the Chettinadu Chicken Dosa, which blends a great mix of spices with a perfectly crisped dosa. Some great appetizers include the Kale Pakoras and various Chaat. For drinks, I find myself enjoying either chai, Thumbs Up Indian Cola, or their fresh mango lassi with bits of fresh mint. For dessert, I recommend getting their carrot halwa.
Absolutely delicious!! Dosas are so perfect! A variety available; we tried the vegetable and cheese one. They are a mix between crepes and pancakes filled with all kinds of spices, vegetables, and meats. The flavors and chutneys were a perfect blend. We also had a chicken dish, paneer, and samosas. Samosa breading is thick, and the filling is flavorful. Spicy items are well labeled. Super customer service. They recommend eating in to enjoy it warm and with all the dips. We had to do carry out, and it was still fantastic!
Definitely come if you’re in the mood for dosas. Though the pandemic prevents you from enjoying them at their crispest, they are still a treat. We usually get the madras masala dosa, garlic naan, and chicken curry/butter chicken. I don’t eat much Indian food, so please bear with me here! The madras masala dosa is nicely spiced, and the masala really makes the potatoes a joy to eat. You also get a really good sambar (the orange/red lentil stew), and two chutneys (coconut and pepper?). All of them have a distinct spicy taste, with the coconut being there to take the heat off if things get too hot. The chicken curry reminds me of some viet or Malaysian varieties. Very thick and heavily spiced, and pairs well with the aromatic rice. The butter chicken is also quite good. I was surprised at how soft the chicken was. It is easy to overcook chicken in a curry or stew, and it was nice to see how soft each piece was. It is a tiny bit sweeter than how I expected it though. Oh and if you ever order the rice, be prepared to eat a veritable mountain of it. They are generous.

Plenty of great clearly marked vegan options. Food had a spicy kick and the restaurant was immaculately clean and well decorated. HIGHLY recommend the vegan Nutella banana dosa! I think it’s on the kid menu section but it’s an amazing sweet dessert!
The best South Indian food I've ever had! They wanted us to order online, but it really helped to talk to the waitress since she could tell us what was too spicy and how many portions of bread there were. My daughter ordered the special Dosa with nuts, which is really good and had potato and dried fruit and three different sauces.
Dosa Point has recently renovated their space, its beautiful (check out the wall paper)! When you eat their food you can tell that they cook with very fragrant spices. Their dishes are always delicious, elegant and consistent. I’ve tried many Indian restaurants, this one has the best flavor! Will go back again and again!
Good simple Indian dishes like in India, a lot of choices, filling but not too heavy. Awkward ordering by phone but friendly people. Nice simple decor but the atmosphere could be warmer. Good prices. Suggestion to the owners: a friendly human waiter would be financially worthwhile in upsell, in tips, and in atmosphere.
We’ve been visiting Dosa Point quite often, and it never disappoints! It’s one of the best Indian restaurants around, offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options with authentic South Indian flavors. Highly recommended dishes: 🍤 Erra Thokku Malli - perfectly cooked prawns in rich South Indian spices; absolutely flavorful and unique. 🌶️ Chilli Chicken - one of the best versions I’ve had; crispy, spicy, and full of flavor. 🧀 Matar Paneer - creamy, comforting, and very well balanced for vegetarians. 🍗 Gongura Chicken and House Special Chicken Curry - both standout dishes with distinct Andhra-style flavors. 🍯 Don’t miss their Gulab Jamun for dessert - soft, warm, and melts in your mouth! Overall, Dosa Point is a great spot for anyone looking for delicious, authentic Indian food with a wide range of choices. Highly recommend it for both casual dinners and family outings.

Hole in the wall casual South Indian cuisine restaurant. Dosa points dosas are naturally gluten free and were light, crispy and airy. They offer a few halal items on the menu including the chicken, as stated by the waitress/cash register and on Yelp. The food was delicious filling and felt like a home cooked meal. Butter chicken, gobi Manchurian, shrimp biryani and dosas were all delicious and felt like a home cooked South Indian meal.
We got the DP special dosa which was pretty average. The interiors were well done and the host was great.
Overall experience was good. Food: we had idli sambar, plain dosa sambar, samosa plate (2 pieces) and tandoori paneer skewers. Decent taste and had the right flavors, sambar could have been a bit more spicy. The paneer wasn't cooked in a tandoor. Didn't have as much charring as I had imagined. Service: overall the staff was nice and polite but as soon as they got busy our order took sometime to come out of the kitchen while other customers ate, paid and left. I think the portion of the dishes were also good. Didn't feel too full after sharing the dishes but that means you need to eat more food 😃😃 Will try this place again.
Good South Indian restaurant for someone looking to try out the cuisine. The food was mildly flavoured and the spice level is for suitable for most people. Pros: - The staff were very friendly. - The service was very quick. - Gobi Manchurian was very good, must try. Cons: - The restaurant was too cold. A little unbearable at times. - The dosa flavour was a little mild, maybe a little bland too.
Overall really flavorful full, some of the richest butter chicken I’ve had. However they were kinda slow to make my order took around 20-25 minutes when dining in. But it was definitely worth it, they give you nearly a pint of butter chicken and you can order a pretty large side of rice but I recommend you get the rice and naan to clean up all the sauce. Overall pretty good I just think they could be a bit faster.
Quaint restaurant in Menlo Park. We ordered vada, dosa, chana bhatura, butter chicken with rice, kale pakora, gobi manchurian, carrot halwa. The food was tasty. The dosas were nice and crispy, bhatura fluffy. The sauces had a little more heat but it was not harsh. Service was nice and attentive.
The place is fine. A small eatery without much of ambience there. The servers aren't quite trained and their English and communication is just passable. The mex veg uttapam was slightly undone. They give a small amount of chutney and when asked for more they give another tiny amount. I felt that Madras cafe wins in this regard. The filter coffee was good but not strong. They add a service tax already but that is not obvious when they show you just the final bill amount. I feel that I paid tip for no reason then.

I loved the food here. I ordered rice and goat curry, whereas two others with me ordered vegetarian dishes like dal fry, Gobi, chhole bhature etc My daughter ordered goat biryani. All of us enjoyed our meal. We brought along tea, coffee etc . Prices are reasonable. Ambience is good.
Came to this place seeing good reviews but were disappointed. Sambar was too sweet - haven't tasted south indian Sambar this sweet. I didn't even have mine. Tomato chutney was also sweet. Kara dosa was good. Chicken chukka dosa was okay - some interesting spice taste that didn't go well with dosa. Chole was not good at all. It had over powering chaat Masala taste. Again, for us it was okay food and may not come back again. However, there are other great reviews so it'll come down to your taste. I absolutely loved mint corriender (green) chutney - something similar to what we make at home.
This is a very casual spot with horrible paint job on the walls. The service is so so and the food overall is average. The Paneer Butter masala was paneer pieces thrown into the typical red sauce which was slightly on the tart side. The masala dosa was good. This is just a local neighborhood place with no ambiance or style or look.

Good food but they seem to be a victim of their own success, having gone from a cozy, easy-going, hole-in-the-wall place to a more fancy, busy place with lineups and cold “turn ‘n burn” service. We were there less than an hour and were asked to leave. I won’t be back.
Really overpriced, all we ordered was noodles, and that was $17, not to mention that was one of the most cheapest on the menu. You have to order by phone, and get charged a service fee for nothing. The food was pretty good, but if your gonna charge more than $20 for one dish, there has to be more quantity.
