Went on a Wednesday for lunch and got the AYCE for $21.99. Not a bad price at all and the food was definitely better than some other all you can eats in the area. Triplet Salmon roll and Godzilla roll were among my favorites. It was very quiet though for a nice summer day? So I don’t know what that was about but I enjoyed my experience here.
Casual sushi restaurant with really great service! They have an AYCE deal Fri and Sat, so we'll be coming back for that for sure! The food was delicious, we had a wide spread for not very expensive at all. The only thing was that they were pretty busy with to-go orders, so the food did come out a little slow. We really enjoyed the visit, and will be coming back for that AYCE!
It seems like some of the negative reviews were from people who may have gone to the wrong place, because this spot is incredible! The rolls are unique compared to what you usually get at other AYCE sushi places, and the atmosphere is lowkey and modern. The service is top-notch too — we spoke with one of the owners, who was super friendly and made sure our food came out quickly. I've been here several times, and it’s consistently a 10/10 every time.
What an amazing dining experience. The food was delicious and wonderfully presented. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. I am a bit of a sushi snob and Raku is now among my Top 5 places to eat.
Our absolute favorite place to be! Date day always is at Raku when the kids are in school. Love the team that takes such amazing care of us. Food and service always amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
I enjoy this place very much. I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. It is never as busy as I think it should be. It is a hidden gem in the heart of Edina.
The food is amazing. Great flavor, perfect presentation. Typically not terribly busy during the day and the service is quick. My favorite is the Salmon Salmon and the captain crunch!
This was my first time trying Japanese cuisine so I asked for a recommendation and was told the sampler plate would let me get a taste of different items. They were all very fresh and delicious. The decor was very classy with excellent service and priced right.
Excellent dinner, service and sake! Started with the Amazing Tuna Dumplings which really were amazing. Tried a couple great sakes and had the special rolls: Snow Thrill, Sun Kiss (pictured) and Megu Shashimi. Everything was wonderful and timed perfectly. Service was attentive.
One of our favorite quiet Friday night date spots. The staff is always super friendly and attentive. If you are there for sushi try sitting at the sushi bar and tip the sushi chefs and ask for a "special roll" they will make you an amazing roll not even on the menu based on personal taste. Highly recommended!
Always enjoy Raku. Sushi is consistently well prepared and delicious!
I can’t believe we didn’t eat here sooner! Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the twin cities, specifically the sumo roll! The appetizers and drinks were delicious and the service was quick and good!
Oh my goodness! This place is amazing. Very friendly staff, quick service, and amazing food. Dined in and gotten take out multiple times with all the best results. Food was quick (faster than normal for a typical sushi place) and was some of the best sushi and udon I have ever had!
Went for great happy hour. Wonderful sushi, sake and other beverages. Will definitely be back.
Just tried their AYCE, very good food quality! Love the unique special rolls! Sumo and Playboy are my favorites! Rock shrimp tempura is also really tasty. Friendly staff, very knowledgeable about gluten free options. Highly recommended!
We order from Raku quite a bit for take-out. One of the main reasons is that we need our orders to be gluten free. They are very careful about it. We appreciate them following specific instructions. Great food and highly recommend!
The food is pretty good but the staff limit the amount of sashimi they give to 3-4 slices per time. There is a 2 hour time limit for the all you can eat but even when they’re not busy, the food takes a while to come. Overall it’s worth a try but some of the rules are an inconvenience that degrade the experience
Our friend is moving away so we decided to meet here for a farewell dinner. There is one thing I really appreciate about this place - their menu. They had photos of the sushi maki rolls with descriptions, so you can see what you're ordering. We ordered 6 different rolls (and 3 appetizers) and were pleased with every single one of them. Although we were greeted a little slower than we'd like, the kitchen was fast, food was good, and service was too.
This is a nice low key sushi place. The atmosphere is usually quiet, even on the weekends. The sushi rolls are well made and taste great. The avocado salad is one of the main reasons why we like to come here. The service from staff ranges from okay to good, while prices are a little high. Overall I really enjoy coming here. It's a little hidden gem that many don't know about.
I ordered two sushi rolls and crab cheese wontons from Raku through DoorDash. The products were very well packaged and arrived in good shape. The Mexican roll was excellent and had very good spice. The "one" roll was also very good but I did not care for the peppered tuna as much as some other rolls. The tempura shrimp inside the rolls were good yet the breading was a little heavy for my taste. All in all, I enjoyed Raku sushi, and would return.
They have some great special sushi options. The roll with jalepeno on top was one of the most spicy sushi rolls I have tried, and I would get it again. We also had the Kyoto and lotus rolls, which were both well done. The chicken fried rice was a good consistency, and much less oily than most fried rice options.
Great service and food! It was pretty quite for dinner time, but that didn’t ruin the vibe. They did have gf soy sauce upon request. I’ll definitely stop by again in the future.
Good sushi rolls! We tried the Sumo and the Fire roll, both of which were delicious. The sumo had shrimp tempura with avocado topped with scallop and spicy bbq, and the sumo was spicy tuna with cream cheese topped with filet mignon and jalapeno. Both had a great variety of textures and complex flavors. I recommend it!
First time trying this location. Delivery was fast and efficient. Lunch portion was perfectly sized.
I am so glad I checked this place out! Some reviews honestly had me a little nervous, but most places usually have some off reviews. My friends and I did the AYCE menu and had a great experience! Everything we tried was so delicious! The service was great and everything we ordered/kept ordering came out in less than 5-10min and we ordered a decent amount throughout the whole 2hrs. Our waitress was very nice! I would say service slowed down closer to the end, but they also had bigger tables come in during that time too. I would for sure try it and form your own opinion! I will for sure be back!
Not bad not great, just average. Restaurant was completely empty on a Monday evening.
Food is 100% yummy and fire. I MEAN LITERALLY FIRE. LOL Service was good, friendly staff. But me and my party had a little issue with communication. We had a mix up and misunderstanding with our food, we told our waitress and the host and it seem like they didn't know how to solve the problem. And just left it as that. Until we spoke with I believe it was the manager/owner and she was able to understand and solve the problem with no complication at all. Atmosphere and everything was nice. I was full and satisfied.
Appetizers were decent. Nothing really wowed me. Boyfriend got sushi, which was good. I got ramen, which the noddles weren’t cooked threw. The server took it back and they reheated it more, so the noodles were cooked overly on the outside yet still hard in the middle. So I sent it back and decided me eating there wasn’t going to be a thing. Service was okay. We were there and the restaurant was pretty empty.
Service was suuuuuper slow. The server never asked us if we wanted drinks. The place wasn't busy at all. We had edamame, shu mai, and gyoza to start. The edamame was nothing special, but still delicious and freshly steamed. The fried shu mai was super tasty as well. The gyoza were a little underwhelming. They were on the bland side and not warm enough to my liking. I then had the captain crunch and hurricane rolls and my gf had the ramen. My rolls were tasty but small (especially for the price) and they both had cooked elements that were on the colder side, which is fine for sushi. But the real kicker was my gf's ramen had completely uncooked noodles. Like still a solid brick of noodles that had not gotten cooked enough to unbrick themselves. We sent it back and it came out about 5-7min later and this time the noodles were cooked but the egg was overcooked, the larger cut of pork was replace by strips of fatty pork. I had ordered rock shrimp and a fire roll after my gf had sent back the first ramen. about 3-5 minafter she eventually just gave up on the ramen, and i would have too at that point, the rock shrimp came out. It was fresh and delicious. Then we waited 15 min, at least, for the fire roll. The fire roll was good but the spicy tuna(?) had a really offputting texture. This place could easily be a 4 star if the service was better and the food cooked properly and served at proper temps.
The service is extremely slow and overshadowed the dining experience. The sushi, sashimi, and rolls is good and are typical Japanese fare. Although nothing really stood out and the sashimi portion is on the thinner side. Had the 'all you can eat', but the time between each order took about 30-40 minutes to arrive (even for ice cream). The price for kids 4 and up is half price of the full adult price, which doesn't make any sense - how much food can a 4 year old eat? This restaurant has a nice setting in a nice area and is fine if you have over 2 hours to spend for dinner.
My husband and I dined in for the first time for our anniversary and were disappointed. We only liked the miso soup and shrimp tempura... everything else was okay... the Shu Mai were cold, seems like they were frozen and microwaved. I believe the customer service could be better, the waitress was too careless. We will not return.
I had two favorites from the menu: the Playboy sushi roll and the duck spring roll. Overall, the food quality and presentation were splendid. However, I had an issue with the service. We arrived at 7:50 PM and were quickly seated, given water, and presented with the menu. A new waiter took our order, but it took her about 16 minutes to place it, and another 15 minutes to bring us just three appetizers. By 8:30 PM, we still hadn't received our sushi. A more experienced waiter eventually assisted, which sped up the process, but we were then overwhelmed with food close to closing time, making us feel rushed and unable to fully enjoy our meal. I understand the challenges new staff face, but it would have been beneficial if she had received more support to ensure timely service. While everyone was very polite, the slow service due to inadequate support for the new waiter was disappointing. Regarding the pricing, dinner was $39.99, but split among three people including the tip, it came to $51. The 18% service fee (the tip) was $23. Although it was an all-you-can-eat experience available only on Fridays and Saturdays, I do not feel it was worth the $51 given my experience. The limited amount of food we received somewhat redeemed the situation, but overall, it was unpleasant. I will not return to dine in, but I may consider takeout in the future.
Did the all you can eat Dinner. Our server was nice but notice that some of our order came wrong, we didn't say anything since we decided to try it out. Although if it did happen you should say something since on the menus front page says any unfinished food will be charge regular menu price. Food was alright, taste similar to others. Only one thing from the dinner menu we like, the rock shrimp tempura. BEWARE unless it was just me who didn't see the fine print, it was just us two and there was a 18% service fee. I was to shock to say anything. I wish I knew ahead of time, if I did I would not have gone here. I paid more here than any other all you can eat. A bummer won't be coming here anytime soon. Expect to wait for someone to take your order and even longer for your food. It does come hot and or warm but will seem forever even with a few peopke dining. Also, there only one single restroom. There's a parking ramp for 2 hours or 5 hours
I was pretty excited to try this place as a new AYCE option that offers a different selection than other AYCE sushi places. I had seen some intriguing videos on Instagram and was excited. The restaurant was totally empty when we arrived which kinda made us feel awkward. It was about 430 on a Friday so I get the smaller crowd but there was no one else there other than the employees. One of the more frustrating parts of our experience was their AYCE menu had just the names of things with no descriptions. I had to play word search with a regular menu to figure out what everything was. Please put some money into getting some decent AYCE menus with descriptions if you will continue to offer AYCE. Service was not good. The girl who served us kept forgetting things. By this time, another table had been sat next to us but it was still dead in the restaurant. As others have mentioned, service was definitely lacking and inattentive as well. Although everything we got tasted good, due to the atmosphere and lacking service, I do not plan to come back, especially not for $40/person. There are better AYCE sushi places in the same city that are worth the money.
We had a really bad experience with All you can eat on Sunday. The restaurant open at noon however sushi maker did not show up until 12:40pm. We had been waiting for our food for 30 minutes. The server is pretty rude. It was $39.99 for adult and $20 for kid 4-8 years old. At the end the server bought the check with 18% tips added for 3 of us. Food is ok. But service was really bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place for everyone and I won’t be back again.
The food was mediocre at best. We had a terrible waitress, waiting on us. She only stop once to take our order and she never came back, to make sure that our drinks were refill, or take away our empty plates of food that we finished eating. When we asked her about our food, she was very rude and condescending. The whole Hostess Treated us the same when we pay the bill. The real reason why I will never go back is: We went during lunchtime for the ALL YOU CAN EAT lunch price of 21.99. They overcharged us 39.99 for dinner pricing (notice the “D” after the 39.99meaning dinner price) plus they charged an extra $15 for some noodles, that we have no knowledge of ordering . I did not realize being overcharged until I got home . Be careful of the Hidden charges.
Food was good for AYCE but service was bad. And they took too long even if there was barely any customers. Sadly spent over $100 for little food because it took too long so I left. They also tipped themselves on my tab even though it was two people... as a group of 5 or more I understand but two people? And I would have not tipped due to their bad service. I didn't get water until I asked after I ordered the food. The lady that worked there was not professional. I highly suggest not spending your money here..
Quite possibly one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. We had been seated for 15, and had to go up to the host stand, before anyone even came to grab our drink orders. We were there for the all you can eat sushi, and it listed a 2 hour time limit, but I don’t know how they can justify that, when we waited 45 minutes for our first order to come out. The sushi wasn’t even great and several things we ordered didn’t come out as listed on the menu. We ended up cancelling some of our food, as we had been waiting for well over an hour at this point for things. Several tables around us got up and walked out, just as frustrated, if not more so than us. Will never recommend this place, I’m very confused on how they’re even still open.
My experience at the restaurant was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, no one greeted us or asked about the number of people in our party. After we were seated, it took over 10 minutes for someone to take our order, even though the restaurant was not busy. We opted for the all-you-can-eat option, but there were strict rules in place for it, limiting the amount of food we could order. After we placed our order, it took 15 minutes for the food to be served, despite being only the fifth customers in the restaurant. We put in a second order right away, but had to wait for 20 minutes before the food arrived. Additionally, when we asked for the check, the cashier didn't even know what section we were sitting in and had to ask our waitress and she doesn't not too. Finally, when we left, no one even acknowledged our departure or any customer.
Honestly, this is my first slowest service I’ve ever experienced. We order our first round within 20 minutes of waiting at our booth and it finally came out after 20-30 minutes. (This was all you can eat buffet dinner hour). And by the time, we went for our second round, it was the same results. SLOW. We stayed there for 2.5 hours just for two rounds of all you can eat buffet. They did miss some food items that we ordered as well. It’ll be my first and last time coming to eat at Raku. 😐😐😐 FYI: For each person was $40 plus tax and gratuity 18%. My party was 4 people so the outcome was $215.
Oh My Goodness....this place needs a professional manager! I was in there on Wednesday, 4:00pm, there was a table of 2 women, a family table of 10-12 and myself. The hostess took 15 minutes to take my order; brought my wine quickly but the noodle appetizer took 20 minutes to arrive. it was fair to yucky, peanut covered noodles with a few shaved carrots and celery pieces. Don't waste your time or money!!!
Worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The wait time for our food was extremely long, and the drinks menu was inaccurate after ordering. The "all you can eat" menu lacked any information about what you were actually ordering, which made it frustrating to choose dishes. To make matters worse, the drinks we wanted weren't even available. The service from the waitresses was terrible. They never came back to our table, and we had to call them every time we wanted to order food. The way the waitress presented the menu made it seem like she hadn't been there long, which added to the confusion. It's been 2 hours since we started the "all you can eat" experience, and it's impossible to eat in 2 hours (as rules of all you can eat), the food still hadn't arrived at the table. When we complained, they just said the kitchen was busy—no apologies, no improvement in service at all! It took a ridiculous 40 minutes between finishing one dish and the next one arriving. The restaurant was crowded with people waiting, yet the food just never seemed to come out. The bathroom was also terrible—only one person could use it at a time, and it was filthy. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I agreed with all 1 start reviews on the longer waiting time. More than 10 people for all you can eat, pay over $500 but there was only 1 waitress. Never come back. Wasted money. Charged 18% tip on top of tax.
the sushi itself was pretty yummy, especially for all you can eat. but the service was AWFUL. we were able to order twice in 2 hours, and then ended up walking up to the hostess to pay because our server just never showed up again. also they added 18% gratuity automatically to the bill, even though there were only 2 of us. probably because the service is so awful people wouldn’t tip at all.
The AYCE is a great deal on Fri/Sat but order a lot in advance. There's a 2 hour time limit and it took me 1 full hour to receive my first order of 1 spicy tuna roll. After 2 hours I was extremely disappointed that I got very little service or food. What I did get was pretty good but with the massive wait despite it being only a moderate crowd I simply cannot recommend this spot.
My first time trying this place and will be my last. We weren't greeted so we stood there awkwardly waiting. The food was mediocre but not worth the hype and price. I rather go to Tokyo sushi to be honest. Their menu is really terrible. No pictures and no description of what each item was or what kind of ingredients are in it. So when our food came, we didn't know what was what and the staff didn't bother to tell us either. The menu also doesn't tell you what has raw fish or cooked fish. Some food also came out cold but we already waited a long time for our food and was starving so we didn't even bother to complain and just ate. The mood of the staff and the way they set our food on the table was really rude and it just ruined our appetite. I don't recommend this place at all.
AYCE, Waited 15+ minutes to order and the waiter walked passed us multiple times without asking if we were ready to order. The food took a while to get to us. You can tell our food was not fresh. Shrimp tempura wasn’t crispy, the seaweed wrap was stale. We ordered appetizers and rolls all at once and never got some items. Our table of 4 had a tip already included, to which we were unaware of. As it was on another menu that we didn’t even receive. Overheard another table complain that there were flies in their soy sauce bottle. I rarely do reviews, but I had to on this one because I never been this disappointed. Recommend not going there.
Worst AYCE Experience. More like ALL YOU CAN WAIT! Only one server for the entire restaurant --expect very long wait times. We were seated and it took about 40 minutes just to get our drinks, and another 30 minutes before we could even place our first order. After that, it took another 30 minutes just to put in a second order. On top of that, there was no mention on the menu that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. We were only a party of 3. With the automatic gratuity, it felt like the server didn't need to be attentive because she knew she was getting tip regardless. I even pointed that out and asked if they really thought they deserved the tip - she did remove the tip after i complained. The audacity to tip herself even when she knows her service is poor. They know if they didn't automatically include tip no one would tip because the service was gawd awful. How can they expect to run a restaurant on a Friday night with only one server, who also had to handle checkout? The whole experience was so unpleasant that we lost our appetite, and honestly, it felt intentional - as if they wanted customers to give up waiting and eat less. Just a heads-up to anyone planning to visit: expect excessively long wait times to place an order and get your food, automatic gratuity added, and only one overwhelmed server running the entire restaurant. Raku rather be understaffed than to hire more servers! They are greedy! shame on you Raku!
I was in town visiting family and we stopped in for all you can eat (AYCE) after being picked up from the airport. The experience was a nightmare.. it took about an hour for the server to take our order. And waited even longer a a simple order of wine. I had to ask her again for it when she finally came over. The food was not good quality. And they were very slow to bring out the food. We only got to order 3 times. They purposely take their time so that they can make money without actually giving any food. Do not call it all you can eat if you are going to hold back on the food. And I found it very odd that there was only one server on a Friday night. On top of poor service and lack of food and bad quality for what we paid, they also added 18% tip for themselves. The audacity of them, when they didn’t even do anything to deserve a tip. Shame on you Raku for being so greedy that you don’t hire staff, providing poor quality food and holding out on the food, poor customer service and to tip yourself. Never again will I go back to that restaurant even if I was dying of starvation and this was the only restaurant in town. Perhaps you need to go check out Kyoto and learn from them
Warning: this restaurant will force you to tip at least 18% tip, the bill will come pre filled for you, they don't leave the tip line blank for you to write your own tip amount. What's even crazier is on top of the 18% there is still another blank asking you to give "any additional tip" the service attitude is pretty rude as well. Absolutely do not recommend this place. The guests next table were pretty mad when the owner asked them to pay for extra when they questioned the owner there's only a few pieces left. Never seen all you can eat this petty
