We were in town from Duluth for a family gathering and were so grateful to have found this place! The heated outdoor space and attention to dog detail was amazing. It was also so festively decorated. The burgers were delicious and our dog Hank was in pup paradise with his own chicken and rice pup meal and allllll the pets. Our server Walt provided top notch service and was so genuinely enjoyable, kind and attentive. Lori also deserves a shout out for all the love and pets she gave Hank. Made his day. We will definitely be back! (Hank clearly licked his bowl clean and then kept trying to go back inside when we were trying to leave 😆)
I’ve been to The Howe before but this experience tops the cake. I ordered the stroganoff and it was phenomenal! I ended up taking it home and it was absolutely delicious. I wish I had ordered extra to go!! This is a picture a took before I mixed everything together. Overall, the staff were amazing! They even found me a smaller fork when I asked. Very amusing and greatly appreciated! I would reccomend this place to anyone! The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and they host fun little events. I look forward to future trivia nights!
Great local restaurant! If you stop by make sure to do the patio seating - it is open year round! The patio is also dog friendly! The staff are very helpful, fun, and friendly! Their menu has some amazing options and the food is delicious!
My friend and I went to The Howe on Sunday for brunch and football. It was after 3pm, I was really wanting breakfast and noticed their build-your-own burger on the menu. I topped mine with fried onions, jalepenos and a fried egg which kept me in the neighborhood of brunch and the burger was cooked to perfection! The only drag was the bartender who wasn’t the most friendly. Maybe he wasn’t having the best day. I felt like I was annoying him with my requests.
Great food and great atmosphere! I've been here several times sat inside, outside, and done trivia - all were great experiences. I really enjoyed their late night (after 8pm) deals as well, several friends and I got the chicken tender basket, which was very reasonably priced and pretty tasty!
The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar is a fantastic spot for dining, and its dog-friendly atmosphere makes it stand out even more. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options, from hearty comfort food to healthy choices, and their craft cocktails are top-notch. What sets The Howe apart is how they welcome furry friends, offering a dedicated dog-friendly patio and even a special menu for dogs! The staff, as I remembered was Karen goes above and beyond to ensure both of us and our dog feel at home. It’s the perfect place to enjoy great food, drinks, and quality time with your dog. Highly recommended!
Wow! What a find, hidden gem! The menu has a wide variety for the entire family including vegetarians. This homemade food has great flavor, I highly recommend the hot honey chicken (Chicken & Waffle Hash) and Huevos Rancheros. Please support your local small business owners!
Went here for Thanksgiving dinner, my first time ever going to a restaurant for a holiday like that. Excellent food. Never been here before - when I walked in it felt very warm and "homey." The food was very good, I went here for the senior discount. Great beer list. Seating was outside in a heated "3 season" structure probably left over from the pandemic. I'm definitely going back.
Wow what a great place. Ok were doing the tourist thing visiting , but what a great place to end our amazing week. If your local, you need to go NOW!! Everything was great from the Buffalo Chicken Tender salas to Fried rice bowl and Yum Yum bowl with steak. Patio seating is nice. Also very pet friendly as dogs are welcome. Not a negative exactly but Adding a surcharge for Employees health might be trendy common here, but seems like ownership group should underwrite, not include in bill not stick customers with it or make optional.
First stop on the Twin Cities 2024 vegan chef challenge roadmap. Featured dish: Vegan Salmon Bowl Marinated & deep-fried vegan salmon, coconut rice, roasted zucchini, cauliflower, red peppers, roasted corn, vegan ranch, sesame seeds, parsley Thoughts: The dish was creative and thoughtful. I love the way the tofu was cut to essentially peel (flake) apart as you eat it, much like a filet of fish would. The vegetables accompanying the dish were great. The corn! I’m a ranch girl but didn’t find the ranch necessary as all of the individual ingredients were so flavorful and good. This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I discovered the standard menu is robust with vegan options (also ordered the vegan nachos) and the service was great. I can’t wait to go back!
We came on a weekday for lunch and it wasn't crowded at all. The outdoor semi-covered patio in the back was super nice and the food was wonderful. Gluten friendly items are clearly marked on the menu, and there is cross contamination. Buffalo cauliflower and vegan ranch was to die for! I also had the curry with cauliflower rice and chicken and it was super tasty.
My husband and I came for dinner with our 8 month old cavapoo puppy the Saturday after Thanksgiving when the temperature was ~12 degrees. Their patio is cozy, enclosed with heavy clear plastic tenting, and well heated with overhead heaters and a fireplace. The floor seems insulated and not cold to the touch despite cold ground and air temperatures. There are also four large tvs showing games on the patio. They offer a yoga mat, treat, and water bowl for each pup. The dog menu options are amazing and very big portions. We got the K-9 chicken dish for Cecilia, and she LOVED it. I think it could easily feed a large dog like an adult golden retriever. For people, they have a great selection of seasonal cocktails (blood orange sangria was well balanced as was the jalapeño margarita) and local craft beers. We shared the buffalo cauliflower, a French dip, and a BYO grilled chicken sandwich. I was impressed with how moist and delicious the grilled chicken breast was on my sandwich. There is also an attached parking lot behind the restaurant that is free. The servers are very friendly and attentive. This place is solid in all respects, especially the dog friendly factor! We’ll definitely come back to here or one of its sister restaurants next time we’re back in Minneapolis.
Went with my family and my dog and had a wonderful time! The food was excellent, and I would like to shout out the staff for being so friendly and accommodating. More importantly, my pup had a wonderful time and I'd love to bring her back to try the other things on the dog menu.
Great variety of vegan food! It’s nice to have options in a very traditional feeling restaurant that isn’t JUST a beyond/impossible burger (But their vegan burger is good too. It even comes with vegan cheese and burger sauce). Went for brunch this morning and it was also amazing food. Staff has always been extremely kind and pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend the vegan nachos and the vegan lox!
Went here for brunch and I’m still dreaming about the eggs Benedict. The spicy hollandaise sauce with the crispy chicken and perfectly poached egg... wow. No other eggs Benedict will ever live up to it. My friends got the breakfast burrito, which she said was really good, and the brisket grilled cheese, which he said was average. Their outdoor seating was nice and we all had mimosas to top it off. Can’t wait to go back.
Edit: we went back here recently, had a nice experience. Adding some more photos to the review. We went there for a birthday celebration dinner. We ordered a Laughing Water cocktail to start us off. It was very refreshing and we liked it a lot. We the ordered the vegan nachos and the vegan jambalaya. Both were very well seasoned, spicy and full of flavor. They have plenty of other vegan/vegetarian options that we really wanted to try, we’ll definitely come back again to try them. We didn’t bring our dog with us but we ordered take out for her (k-9 chicken and boxer bites )from their amazing dog menu. She absolutely loved it.
Great place! My first time coming here was a few weeks back and I think this is my new favorite place! I ordered the nachos which were delicious! The meat to cheese and nacho ratio was perfect. Typically there's either not enough cheese, meat or both; but the portion size was very generous. I also ordered the sweet potatoes fries which were really good! My partner ordered the BBQ wings and absolutely loved them. I would definitely return; and I highly recommend this place. I also love the outdoor patio area as well as the walk up window where you can place an order to go.
Double royal Burger was a tuff 10/10 street corner taco is tuff but very messy ✌✌also the season sour cream is mad yummy, overall this place is peak
Came in for brunch, was not disappointed. The bone in wings are breaded?! Bro - what in the delicious hell?! The arepa Benedict was fire but those wings were next level. The patio here huge, covered and super popular. Huge bonus there is a sizable parking lot. Really friendly and fast service.
This was our first time at The Howe. We were greeted by very friendly staff and seated immediately. My husband had the "Mr Pickles Cubano Sandwich" with fries and I had the "Longfellow Burger" with sweet potato fries. My husband is a carnitas connoisseur and said this was the best sandwich he'd ever had!! And the blend of flavors of my Longfellow were wonderful. Joined their club membership (free), we'll definitely be back!
Came to visit my son during the Minnehaha Art Fair and afterwards we enjoyed an amazing dinner. Grace, our waitress was so very pleasant and accommodated my daughter-in-laws diet restrictions perfectly. Our meal was the best I have had all week.
Had the Brisket Grilled Cheese and the Guava BBQ boneless chicken. Both were very delicious and the vibe of the restaurant was warm in contrast to the Antarctic weather outdoors. The brisket grilled cheese was the perfect amount of greasy and finger-licking goodness. Our server Bellamy was awesome and checked on us to ensure our satisfaction. Highly recommended and would return again!
Love this little neighborhood gem! They have excellent apps, I recommend the pretzel bites! (Depending on your taste, you may want to ask for them lightly salted). I love the beyond meat burger. You can’t go wrong with the fries or the onion rings as a side. We ate out on the patio and brought our dog. Super dog friendly! They brought over a mat, water bowl, and pup menu :) Love The Howe and will continue to frequent this place!
This was a cool find. We were on a family road trip with our dog, and this place had a Paw-tio to sit outside with your dog. They brought them a water bowl, a mat, and a peanut butter biscuit. They also had a dog menu to order dinner for your dog! Waitress was not very attentive to our drink refills, especially when we were there on such a hot day. But everything else was great!
While my wife and I were enjoying antique shopping along the Minnihaha mile we decided to stop at The Howe for lunch. It was Sunday therefore they were still on the Brunch menu. They have a very nice outdoor seating area, but we chose to sit inside to enjoy the nice AC. Their brunch menu has a variety of options that also includes GF and Vegan options. I had the Hot Chix Sammy - Fried chicken breast with egg, bacon, pepper jack cheese on a home made biscuit. It was delicious. The hashbrowns tasted a little greasy, but I had no trouble finishing them :). My wife ordered their Burrito, she said it was good, but a little bland, if you like it a little more spicey take advantage of the Hot sauce they offer. I loved the feature they have of looking at their extensive beer menu online via a QR code, it made it easy to get my selection down to two, which I asked for a sample of each. Both were delicious, I chose Fresh Squeezed from Deschutes. Paying our bill was super easy when the server came over with a device to accept our card and signature through a device right at the table. The Howe is part Craft & Crew Hospitality that has 5 other restaurants in the Metro. We are will be back to The How to try their regular menu and excited to try the others at some point.
Get local spot! Went with a group of friends who had a range of dietary needs and everyone still found multiple options for food and drink to pick from! Big win! I’m excited to eventually try everything on their fun cocktails/mocktail menu. Service was fast and kind!
We so enjoyed this very dog friendly restaurant!! Tried it because it was included in Sidewalk dogs Treat Pass, loved it enough to go back for another visit. Patio is very dog friendly, apparently it’s covered and heated in winter so the fun can continue! Food was excellent. Had been craving broasted chicken and it was perfectly delicious! Great food and fun atmosphere! Edited to say we have been back and the food and service remain great!
I had a vegan Reuben, made of beets! So nice to have vegan options without the only option being fake meat or salad. I also had three buffalo cauliflower and it was great too. My husband had the French dip and he was super happy.
Excellent menu with many choices ranging from bar food to salads and health bowls. Service was wonderful, bathrooms were clean and the place has a great vibe.
Came in from Chicago to vist relatives and stopped to eat here. The French Dip is delicious. It is so tender!! I also ordered the Truffle Fries delicious too! The slushie Harvest Time Margarita was GREAT!!
Really good food and drinks. They used to have the best Chicken Pot Pie and I still crave it to this day. I haven’t found anything there as good as that, but I recently had the Honey Pecan salad and it was very good. They also have THC beverages now which is a nice addition, good to have a THC drink before watching a weird 80’s movie at the Trylon
We were visiting MN for a weekend trip. Our two small dogs came along on the adventure. We were looking for a dog friendly place to have dinner and the Howe came up. The patio is covered and heated and they give you a mat and water dish right away. Then they have the nicest doggie menu. It has treats, dinners and desserts on it. The human menu is pretty impressive too. The food was good service was good and we all left happy. We will come back next time we’re I. Town for sure!
Paul M was great - attentive and knowledgeable. Food was good - my burger patties were definitely over cooked, but seasoned nicely. We live much closer to Pub 819 that's usually where we go, but we were meeting family from Wisconsin and the East Metro.
My family loves this restaurant. At this visit, my grandson had a cheeseburger, which he loves. I decided to try the French dip because it was the special that day, with coleslaw and sweet potato waffle fries. Everything was absolutely perfect! Highly recommend.
Ordered pick up after a long day at work, redeemed my birthday $15 off coupon, and went to pick it up and Gigi was the sweetest waitress ever. She wrote me a hand written birthday wish, and when she saw all my food was vegan added a separate note and inviting me to a vegan february event that the restaurant is doing! After this week and all the stuff we are going through in the state; it was SO appreciated. Please acknowledge her for me and my gratitude, something so simple, yet, went a long way!
Was able to bring our dogs to eat with us. Good food for both our dogs and ourselves. They have a patio that is covered and has a fireplace. I had a cheeseburger that was very good.
Cute atmosphere for dog owners, they have a dog menu and it’s a peaceful atmosphere. I got the vegan nachos, they were good but I wish there was more queso. The truffle fries were delicious, the portion was kinda small.
The menu is the right size; a perfect amount of options without being overwhelming. They also have a dog menu, as they allow dogs on the enclosed patio. The food was good. The service was great and very responsive. It's a great spot. I would like to visit again someday.
Very nice restaurant, went for breakfast. My family enjoyed their meal. I ordered a BLT and was told after everybody else’s food had been served that they could not make a BLT for me which I did not understand because they have bacon. Probably won’t return. I’m glad my family enjoyed their meal. Atmosphere is great, and our waitress was very apologetic. Bloody Mary was really good!
We went to a special vegan dinner with cocktails. The cocktails, appetizer of beet hummus, and red velvet chocolate cake were very good. The Thai salad and pizza were ok. It was nothing unusual, but tasted good. The service was good. The cocktails were tasty. A nice touch, they sent us each home with a to go thank you that had a few treats in it.
Great neighborhood spot! The chicken is amazing, and the burgers are fantastic. The dog-friendly patio has recently been updated to include a cozy fireplace and four-season siding to make this a truly amazing spot year-round! My kind of local joint!
My best friend lives in the area and brought me to this place for lunch. It was super solid. The fried cheese curds were excellent, the grilled cheese with brisket was good, and the chicken was juicy. Cool atmosphere too. Would like to come back for dinner and drinks. Stop by if you’re in the area.
Went on a recommendation from someone at the dog park. Went specifically because they had a dog menu. He got muttloaf and he enjoyed it immensely. They rolled out a mat for him and everything. Pup approved!
We ordered for pick up and ate at home from this place. My sister in law wanted to customize their brisket mac and cheese and take out the brisket. My nephew wanted their chicken wings. I got the Phuket bowl with tofu and my brother got the ahi poke bowl. My Phuket bowl was really flavorful, the chicken wings were also good and I ate the cauliflower from my brother’s plate. I think my brother said it was busy while he was trying to order in person and the bartender helped him. We couldn’t customize the mac and cheese online.
What I like most about the Howe is that they offer menu options to fit varying diets. They have gluten free, vegan, and low carb options in addition to more traditional offerings. I ordered the Thai Curry bowl w/shrimp and swapped the coconut rice for cauliflower rice. It had good flavor with a consistent heat and generous bites of juicy shrimp throughout. It could have used a sprinkling of sea salt but that's my personal preference. My partner ordered the beer battered fish and chips. He remarked that the batter was everything you look for; crispy, light, not greasy, with the fish flaky and tender. We also ordered the jalapeno poppers,2 beers and a glass of wine. Our tab with 20% tip came in just under $100. I feel that is a bit pricey, but the service was also really good and they had many TVs covering March Madness games which my husband enjoyed.
Stopped in at The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar after a long day and it hit the spot real good. My plate come out hot, meat tender, and the sides had plenty flavor, not just salt thrown on top. Folks workin there were friendly, checked on us a couple times, and the place felt clean and relaxed even though it was pretty busy. For what I paid I walked out full and content, wouldn’t mind swingin back through here again
I’ve been here at least 10 times and never had my socks knocked off. I’m not sure why I keep going back. They are always busy, the staff is always friendly and nice, but the food is just average and not worth it for the price. This time we ordered brussels sprouts, which really lacked any depth of flavor since they were either boiled or steamed and not very warm. The toppings were very good on the brussels sprouts but just overall not that great because of the lack of flavor for the brussels sprouts. Felt like I was back in the 80s eating boiled brussels sprouts. We ordered brisket nachos and we were delivered the first picture of nachos. We asked where the sour cream was? Bartender said they would bring us some. Five minutes later still no sour cream. So we tasted them and realized these were vegan “chorizo” nachos, not the beef brisket nachos we had ordered. There is no cheese on them, obviously as they were vegan. I let the bartender know that we were in fact given the wrong nachos and a few minutes later a manager came over and agreed that these were the vegan nachos and that we were given the wrong ones. No apology, just annoyance Maybe five to ten minutes later we got warmish brisket nachos with maybe a quarter teaspoon of queso at the bottom and a clump of browning guacamole on the top. 3/10 The Old Fashioned was VERY good. 8/10 rating I’ll probably try one more time before I swear off The Howe.
Meh was my experience on Thanksgiving. The holiday decor was fun. The cocktail was amazing, the desserts were horrible, the pumpkin pie was probably not made onsite. The Apple crisp was gross. The dinner was ok, the turkey was moist but the whole plate was again not homemade vibes. The cranberry sauce came on the dinner plate in a small plastic to go container. Everyone working there was very nice and accommodating, however after our server dropped off our dinners, we pretty much didn’t see her again. No water refills, wasn’t thrilled to take one photo for us at end of dinner, yet swooped in when a wait assistant was about to take the photo- something to do with tip distribution? She didn’t seem insanely busy- maybe she was?
Been here now like 7 or 8 times, each time hoping for a better experience from the last mediocre experience and receiving the same mediocre experience. I really wish this place had good food and drinks but theu just fall short every time im there, regardless of what I try. And for how much you end up spending, you'd come to expect a little higher quality of food. Also the service is very slow here, not entirely sure what that all about, because it's never been overly busy while I'm there... I constantly feel like my drinks take a ridiculously long time to arrive and im constantly having to wave down my server. The bar service is always pretty good though, the bartender is ok, kinda strange but overall does a good job being attentive to patrons. Other guests at the bar are hit or miss, haven't had the most welcoming crowd up there... The dog patio is stellar though, I love just chilling in there. Wish the food was as good as that space!
The food was great, but won't be back. Personally, can't support a business that discriminates against any group of people - whether it be race, sex, religion, or occupation.
