I have ordered food a few times from this restaurant and it doesn’t disappoint. The last time I ordered from Ubereats and the food was delivered promptly and the taste was delicious. The portions were a good size and my whole family loved everything from the entrees to the rice and beans!

Menudo is delcious and has a clean taste. Enchiladas, carne molida tacos, mole, the list goes on, very delicious!

Every time I pass by this restaurant, the parking lot is always full. I decided to stop by for brunch, and I was pleased with the service and the food. The restaurant was busy, but I was amazed at how fast we were taken care of. I had the Huevos Rancheros and my wife had the Chicken Mole. The food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. 👌

I ordered eggs with bister hash browns and refried beans and floor tortilla. It was filing. My husband ordered eggs with green cheese enchilada hash browns with refried beans and coffee. It was delicious. Our server was Ana. She made sure we were content and happy.

The food is delicious. I like the handmade flour tortillas. The menudo was not greasy, and it was spicy but edible. The service has always been good. They are attentive and refill drinks as well as make sure you have what you need to enjoy your meal. The atmosphere is great. There are tvs and can watch your favorite game or novelas.

My first time going to Ernie's and I absolutely loved it! Went with my sister and dad, they loved it too. Chile was perfect spicy but not overly. Food was brought out super fast and they were busy. A Mexican style breakfast favorite of mine. I've been coming here for years. The place is always packed. Definitely get a small menudo accompanied with breakfast dish of your choice. The consistency of flavor, rations, and price is what brings me back. The tortillas are homemade, too. Always order your eggs over-medium...you won't regret it. I've been dining at Ernie's Cafe since I was a kid, I'm almost 40yrs old now.

I LOVE this place. The food tastes homemade like you’re in your abuela’s house. I live way out in the Canutillo area but had business on the east side of El Paso one day, and came across this gem. The service is great, the atmosphere is pleasant, and you can actually hear and have conversation with those at your table. So far I’ve been here twice, but I plan to go again! It’s so far from me, but I feel it’s worth the drive.

First time here. The food was good. I got the Huevos Rancheros. They were hearty. A decent, fair price.

Went on a Thursday during lunch and even though the place was full, we got fast service. The food was great, we spent about $20 per person, and my coffee cup was always full. All the food had a home made taste and the environment was very comfortable. It was my first time here and for sure will be back.

Located in the 1500 block of Zaragosa, Ernies Restaurant has the best food on this side of El Paso. A 1st timer here at Ernies, the service is outstanding with the waitress taking care of your needs. I ordered the lunch special (Flauta plate) which included a bowl of beef soup ( a meal in it self) and freshly made flautas. I will definitely be coming I ng back again to this location.

The breakfast here is yummy and filing! The machaca, salsa, and tortillas. The waitress was very fast and made sure we always had coffee while we waited for our food. We love going right when they open at 7 am and they always are ready to serve us and great us with a smile. The tortillas are my favorite with the salsa with any of the dishes that I have ordered. You know what they say when the salsa is good you know the rest of the food is good.

Really good Mexican food! Especially, the salsa that didn't taste like paste picante as it did in almost every other Mexican restaurant! The homemade tortillas were cold every time they came out abs the service wasn't good

My favorite dish is the brisket with eggs. I'm never disappointed at this place. The price is reasonable as well.

Food was good, the service was very fun and engaging. There were only two waitresses as it was getting close to closing time. Our waitresses (dark haired young lady) was very personable and had a great sense of humor. She was breaking down the menu items elementary style and was actually very knowledgeable of the menu.

4.5 stars! The food is very delicious. I can vouch for the menudo, Mexican plate, and chile rellenos. (FYI they have menudo con pata but you just need to ask for the pata jaja extra charge) I'm not a big fan of the beans, but everyone loves them. It is constantly busy so be patient if you're gonna dine there. I usually order take out and it is prompt. The employees are all very kind, patient, and attentive. (Sorry for the pic being kinda lame)

Takeout food was not great, rice was lumpy, barely any beans, chicken torta was not good at all. Prefer dining in

Wanted to give this restaurant a try. Stepped in at 1pm on a Thursday. Was seated right away, but it took them a while to approach me. Was hesitant on just walking out, but waited a little longer. I wanted the lunch special and was told they did not have caldo and needed to order something else from the menu. It was super early in the day for them not to have caldo for the lunch special. Decided to go somewhere else down the street.

The food at this restaurant is very good. I have gone there several times and never been disappointed. The service, however, is very poor. The servers don't come around to serve refills on your drinks or anything else. They all congregate in the back areas, talking gossiping and laughing. There are a few good servers, whom I see walking around constantly, tending to their tables. I have not had the pleasure of being served by them. The last three visits have been very poor service.

I mean, it was alright. I'm still not sure why they bring in a small plate of buffalo sauce for the hot wings. You could literally have a stainless mixing bowl and just let the wings get sauced up to perfection rather than making the customer do awkward dips on the bowl. Fries were good

My husband and I went for a late breakfast. Good thing is that they serve breakfast all day 😋 They seemed to be understaffed, so we had to wait to be seated and then wait more to be attended. Something has changed. Me and my wife come nearly everyday for lunch and today we noticed several changes to the ingredients. Over the past months we noticed a bunch of new waiters and waitresses and the slow decline in service, now today the food has taken a massive decline. This USED to be a great place to eat. The food was amazing, the prices were cheap, and the service was top. We will no longer be recommending this place as something has changed here, like the management and or the cooks. I've been here for breakfast many times. Good food but more expensive than most. Also service is not good. Servers spend more time sitting around, talking, texting and eating than actually working. They need about half of the people working there and maybe their prices would be more reasonable.

To start our server took forever to bring everything out. He forgot our chips and salsa, and even the tortillas that came with our dishes. Refills were slow for the ones who had to ask, and none existent for those of us who never got the chance to ask. Worst of all this is the second chance we gave him, he was worse last time. Then I look up and see a girl in street clothes, long hair straight down her back, loose. She said hi to people, touching all kinds of things and without washing her hands, went straight into the back with the food. She then went into the kitchen and started walking around and serving herself as well as eating things she grabbed from the food serving station. She never washed her hands, and her hair was long just swinging around all the food. On our way out we went to restroom and same girl came in behind us. On our way out we stopped to wash our hands and she did not. Gross is not even the word that I would use to describe today’s experience. Our family loves the food at Ernie’s, but after today we understand the low health inspection grade they got last month. I’m so disappointed and won’t be returning any time soon.

Service is very slow although I arrived at 8 am and not busy at all. Several waiters past me by without acknowledging me. I had to wave a waiter down for service and then he seemed to be in a fog! I don’t understand how a restaurant can exist this way. Food must be GREAT.

Hostes seem like they hate there jobs all of them, it’s Saturday 8/3/23 10:00 am and the restaurant is steady but sheesh do these hostes don’t care when you have a question. I come in to pick up a order and the girls says “let me check” she helps out 3 people after that then when she’s free she doesn’t even “check” never left her spot so I had to tell another hosted and this one had bad attitude. Food is delicious. Highly recommend. HOWEVER....service is a hit or miss. My wife and I went for brunch. 4 girls in the front (some eating and all 4 talking) with the worste attitude. It was a 40 minute wait time (which they did say it would be about 35 minutes for two). My real problem came when an older couple came in thinking they were special. There was a high table by the entrance that no one was being seated. Because they were hungry ( as everybody waiting) they asked one of the girls in the front if they can be seated. One girl did say they had to wait like everyone else. When she left them lady went to ask again to another girl and literally sat them down within minutes of them getting there. Why?? That was not fair to anyone who has waited in that list for 35 minutes. Management really needs to talk to these girls. Also I over heard one tell another girl that came in to call her next time to skip the line. Really??

This used to be my go to spot for breakfast but this recent plate of chile tostadas instead of the ordered chilaquiles has me questioning now. Terrible hard food couldn’t even eat it. When I called to complain they insisted I was just doing this to get free food. You can clearly see the issue here but treated me so ugly.

First of all the hostess greeted us rudely. Then had us wait at bar area where the stools are old, cut and wobbly. Almost fell from my stool. The salsa has a whole chile strip (it wasn't chopped up or nothing). The menudo was only homeny with only 3 little peaces of meat. The cheeze was not melted on the omelet. The chile relleno chile was super thick so it was not easy to chew through. They did not give us any silverware or napkins as we was seated. Once they brought out the food to us, we had to ask for those in order to eat our food. We had extra items ordered with our plate and never saw the add on's. This place is just not even worth the star I have to leave to do this review. Go to other Mexican restaurants that actually take care of there customers!

They never answer the phone 📱. I'm trying to order for pickup and I've called several times during business hours and no one answers. UPDATE: They finally answered the phone and I got to order. Changed my review from 2 stars to 1 star (should be zero stars) after dealing with the unprofessional staff (w the exception of the chef in back who seemed more professional). I ordered over the phone and they took payment over the phone as well. When I arrived to pick it up the first girl I spoke w told me she couldn't find my order. She got a second girl involved who showed me the receipt and said someone else took my order (or something of that sort, she didn't speak English well so it was hard to tell). They both smiled and laughed which upset me because they seemed to not care about the confusion they caused. They never apologized for the inconvenience and one girl (the bigger one) even said "what inconvenience?" Which was so unprofessional considering I had to wait for them to make my order and go thru all the confusion due to their incompetence. The two girls need to be more organized and take a customer service course because they severely lack empathy. Service here is terrible, the menudo is good so it's sad that the restaurant will not succeed with that lack of service.

I made an order by Uber eats, I ordered a Bistec Torta and they send me Tacos. I called to make the complain and the lady who answered she was so unprofessional she give me the excuse that they have new people and they send me the tacos by mistake. This is the second time I've been here and this time it was even worse. The first time they put my scrambled eggs on top of my enchiladas. This time I ordered my eggs over medium. Those were ok. My beans were cold. I don't know what kind of hash browns I was served, but they weren't great. The flour tortilla was hard. Im assuming cause it got cold. Our waitress would disappear. I don't know how they divide their sections cause I saw plenty of waitresses/waiters hanging around. Some on their phones, but I don't know where ours went. It took her forever to come refill our coffee cups. She didn't check on us. I had to ask another waiter for a glass of water. To top it off this breakfast plate was $15. I think that's pricey especially if it wasn't good.

Placing an online order here is terrible. I arrived at the restaurant after placing my order over 20 minutes in advance and they told me that they barely saw the order and that it was gonna be another 20 minute wait because They weren’t doing their job, right. We went in on 12/29/2022 to dine in and were greeted and seated by Sofia (pretty girl, super friendly and nice). However, things took a turn for the worse. Our waitress Sandra was just awful. Poor customer service. We asked her for something and she just rolled her eyes and walked away as if she didn't hear. Then, she never came back. This isn't the first time we've had bad service from her. You pay quite the price at this restaurant so you should get good customer service. Oh and watch out because if your whole party orders water to drink, they like to charge you drinks you didn't order and later pretend like it was an innocent mistake when you call them out. SMH

Had a terrible experience at Ernie's on Zaragoza. I ordered two taco plates through Uber Eats and got the wrong food (picadillo, which we didn’t order or want). When I called, the manager refused to take responsibility, blamed me (was told Taco plates can't be ordered on the app, they can, see screenshot), wouldn’t give her name, denied the mistake even after I offered proof via screenshot, and hung up on me. No refund, no help—just rudeness. I drove 40 minutes for this. Never again.

Not one to shame it’s a decent place but what got me is the prices there is a lot better out there for less 42$ for two burritos and a menudo ??? I’m the dumb one for paying oh well next time… 10 $ burritos??? Yeah no thanks

The service is always extremely mediocre however this is the second time the food has a foul taste & smell. The ground beef in the tacos had an extremely rotten taste & the smell of the meat was just as bad. It was a table of 10 and 5 of those 10 got extremely upset stomachs and got sick. I did mention it to the manager who said it couldn’t be that anything was bad because they had made the tacos since yesterday and she was sure the meat wasn’t bad. The waiter smelled the food and he immediately made a look of disgust.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE i ordered to go and my fries were raw the plate had more onions and jalapeños then meat they don’t mention it even comes with that when you order the meat PLAIN they don’t care ab allergies they pass it off as they can’t help with that when i’m clearly telling them i ordered it plain for a reason i live 30mins away i cannot go back to replace my order if it’s wrong and that was the only solution they could offer. mind you they implied i was lying when i told them the fries were raw saying they “double checked” i kept asking for a manger and she kept changing the subject to not get the manager on the line .

We ordered menudo from this place, 2 large ones. We were given the two smallest containers I have seen, our drinks were bigger than the menudos and the spices were just a tiny pinch. what a joke of a place.

Went in at 1130, never have I been there before. Was told that it would be 10 minutes so I waited in the waiting room by the exit which is separated by a door to the hostess station with along with other customers waiting as well. Some girl inside started yelling out names which you can't hear due to the door being closed, one of the customers opened the door and was calling out the names which finally was me. She didn't come out of the station to the other room to announce who was next. When I went in, I told her that no one could hear her since the door is closed, she rolled her eyes and didn't say a word, she didn't care one bit! I simply turned around and walked out and I will never return! Horrible front service and horrible management if they don't train their staff how to do a simple job.

The 1st interaction was a very rude waitress that threw our menus on a dirty table. My mom ordered a small caldo and the meat was 90% grizzle. For $10 it was not worth the price. Manager refused to give any discount and refused to come speak to us after extremely horrible service. My 1st and last experience at this restaurant.

This was the most disappointing experience, we ordered menudo for delivery and this is water down. its pink, seemed as if they collected leftovers and packed my order. The menudo had cilantro in it. The chile they packed was empty as if it was used on a table. I understand it was close to closing time but you could have rejected the order instead of making this disgusting decision. Very disappointed.

Had a very disappointing experience at Ernie’s Cafe today. We came specifically for the caldo, and when we sat down we were told there was absolutely none left. That was fine, so we ordered something else instead. About 10 minutes later, another elderly couple arrived, and when their food came out, they were both served fresh bowls of caldo. We were understandably confused and asked our waitress about it. She was kind and professional and had already told us there was no soup left—this is not a complaint about her. It was very frustrating to be told there was none available, only to see it served to another table right after. I don’t know if it was being saved for specific customers, but the situation felt unfair and left a bad impression. Because of this experience, I won’t be returning and do not recommend this place.

Not sure how everyone had such a great experience here. The hostess skipped us multiple times and did not take any effort to fix the issue till I addressed her. The menudo tasted like absolutely nothing and it was basically just a bowl of nasty looking meat. Our server checked on us once but would disappear and go talk with one of the other servers. Customer service was lacking, it was like I was a ghost. They were not busy, but almost 100% only Spanish speaking so there was that barrier. My chips were good but salsa was weirdly to chunky and watery at the same time? And too much cilantro. I ordered the flautas plate. The beans were like eating cardboard. The rice was older and mushy. The meat in the flautas was good but the sour cream and guacamole were just scooped right on top of the flautas. The lemonade tasted like the lemonade lite you get which I do not like and wouldn’t have ordered if I knew. I had to go to the register and request my waitress so I could get the ticket and go😡. Overall a very disappointing experience in El Paso.
