Opinions de Brick House Elk Grove
Excellent food and service. Not inexpensive so if you're looking for cheap go elsewhere. The ribeye was fantastic as were the sides and multiple different craft beers. I plan to return for sure.
This place was a favorite about 10 years ago. We visited about 3 years ago and it felt like things went downhill. But, since Chris took this over it has been amazing again. The food is outstanding and service is amazing. There were 10 of us that got in with a phone reservation very quickly around 5:30 pm. We just love this place!
Had 15 people there for my daughters 50th birthday.. We shared a room with another group. Our waitress was super and the food great. I was pleased with the entire experience. Would highly recommend the Brickhouse.
My husband and I came here on a date night and sat at the bar. We had amazing drinks, the food was great and the service too! We will definitely be back. We had a great first impression of this restaurant.
Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and attentive! We absolutely love it here! We witnessed a couple trying to con the staff into free meals. We have since heard this is a thing now.Complaining about ridiculous things (what? No free bread ? )while they ate everything and it's on the menu. We saw him put a hair on his plate and then complain about it !!!!! The manager Chris handled it with grace and overwhelming patience .
Brick House & Catering is truly a gem in Elk Grove. My girlfriend and I finally came in after hearing so many great things, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, Tawny welcomed us with warmth and made us feel right at home. We started with the Caesar salad and fresh bread — both perfectly prepared — followed by spaghetti with meat sauce and prime rib that were absolutely incredible. The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and everything tasted like it was made with care. We ended with tiramisu, and it was the perfect sweet finish to an unforgettable meal. Beyond the amazing food, what really stood out was the hospitality. Chris and Tawny genuinely care about their guests, and it shows in every detail. It’s rare to find a place that combines such heart with such quality, and Brick House does it flawlessly. This was one of the best meals of our lives, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for not just great food, but a truly special dining experience.
We’ve always loved eating here in person since the food is immaculate, but lately have only been ordering to go since we now have a toddler terrorist. The staff is always so kind, and the owner has always checked in with us to make sure everything is going well. Tonight there was a slight mishap with our to go order (not the restaurant’s fault) and the owner was still kind enough to comp our entire order (which I was not planning on, and now I feel bad that I didn’t notice and thank them before heading home!) Thank you to Brickhouse Elk Grove staff and management for always going a step above to care for their guests!
Ok where do I start. Pretty much everything that I ordered was literally perfect! I ordered the 16 oz steak dinner with loaded potato and it was just incredible! Perfectly cooked exactly what I asked for. Even their garlic butter was just delicious! It was my first time going and definitely not my last. I recommend this restaurant to everybody!
I loved this place, our waitress was fantastic answering my friends answers about the menu, coming several times to get our refills and checking if we were good. I believe the owner/manager of the restaurant also came by our table and everyone else's to see how everything was. We all got a lot of food, all of us had to take our leftovers. I got the beef stroganoff, it was very creamy and the pieces of steak were thick and it came with a lot of mushrooms, I love mushrooms, the sauce was nice and creamy. Everyone got a different plate and everything looked good. My cousin's order came with a big plate of ribs which fell off the bone, I had to try his food, too much mustard but it was really good. We all enjoyed ourselves will definitely have to come back when I'm in the area.
The two of us had a great dining experience here. We shared the Salmon and Short Ribs. We both opted for the 3-course meal by adding both minestrone soup (not pictured) & salad. Everything down to the soft texture of the bread & fragrant garlic butter was delicious. Service was good as well. Parking does not seem to be an issue since there's a lot with plenty of signs which are reserved for guests dining here. It's locally owned with a full bar. Located in old town Elk Grove. There's also a happy hour offering. It's basically gourmet with a hometown feeling to it. You can taste the love, passion & comfort in the dishes served. Everything was seasoned well & tasted fresh. No salt & pepper needed.
Overall Experience: Mixed—Exceptional Food, Subpar Service The food was amazing (10/10). The fettuccini pasta was incredibly fresh and flavorful—way better than Olive Garden in my opinion Both my dish and the kids' meals were a huge success. Unfortunately, the service provided by our waitress was severely lacking. She was inattentive, neglecting to check on our table for the entire evening, and displayed a consistently rude attitude when we did interact. The poor experience culminated when she became openly upset and confrontational after I simply requested clarification on the kids' drink charges. This negative interaction was entirely salvaged by the owner. He was very kind, understanding, and highly professional in resolving the billing issue. His commitment to customer service is the sole reason I am choosing to return. I hope the service standard can be brought up to match the quality of the kitchen.
Went for lunch on a Friday. Overall the food was good. I wish the ravioli came with another one as I was still pretty hungry after eating. Portobello burger was delicious and I would definitely order again. Service was so so. Wanted to order additional food but server didn't come around so maybe next time. Would go again and try their dinner menu.
**Ambiance is commendable, yet culinary and service aspects require attention.** The establishment boasts an appealing old-town setting, characterized by notable historical architecture and tasteful décor. Regrettably, the culinary offerings do not align with the premium pricing. For instance, the \$22 hand pressed 1/2 ground chuck burger was found to be deficient in flavor and juiciness and pressed from a mold, while the \$35 beef stroganoff, despite being a "signature" dish, was notably simple lacking a traditional savory flavor of Worcester sauce. Service, though friendly, appeared to be hampered by understaffing, evidenced by a 40-minute wait for seating. In summary, while the ambiance is appealing, the overall quality and value proposition may not entirely align with the expectations of the average consumer. However, for individuals seeking a family-owned establishment in a historic downtown area, this could be a suitable option, particularly for those with a preference for uncomplicated flavors.
I rate restaurants on a simplistic scale.. would I go back? Yes-ish.. Food was decent, my only qualm was with the ribs and meatballs. Let’s start with the ribs.. I doubt they were are smoked. I didn’t get any hint of smoke flavor and I did not see a smoke ring. The honey mustard sauce was good, but I was just let down by the lack of smoke. Now on to the Braised Meatballs. The red sauce was solid! But what I couldn’t get over was the meatball flavor very closely resembled chef boy r d meatballs.. no disrespect. My wife shared the same sentiment. All in all it’s worth the trip.
Good service, atmosphere and table setting were a bit weird for a party of 5. We got the Coconut Prawn appetizer and for our entrees: Rack of Lamb, Chicken Marsala, Cheese Ravioli, and another chicken dish. The coconut prawns appetizer, pesto fettuccine side dish, and kids cheese ravioli were great, but the entrees didn't quite get there. I'm all for tender lamb, but when it's so soft it taste like liver..ehh, not so much. Chicken marsala tasted more like an extra sour chicken piccata and the other chicken dish was something completely different, but looked exactly the same. The food looks and smells great, but doesn't deliver in taste. The saving grace was whoever made my lemon drop, which was perfect.
Very disappointed in Brickhouse, went to eat last night and the food was good, but now smaller portions, have to pay for vegetables, bread, salad and soup. They were known as good value for what you got but not anymore, now they want to nickel and dime you for everything. Had to wait to get water, and there was only a couple of people in the dining room. Won’t be back again
