Opinions de Akino Elmhurst
I loved this restaurant. Excellent cuisine and service. The Salmon Teriyaki, the salmon dragon balls, seafood fried rice the Shumai, sushi, everything is delicious. All you can eat! Lovely. Visited again on 11/20/22. Excellent meal again. Such consistency in quality, portions of food, service was great with no ”hey guys" greetings. Perfect for a trans woman like me!
Great deal for AYCE sushi, with the price and quality. Came around dinner time and the wait for a table inside was an hour. We sat outside, and honestly, they could definitely upgrade the air conditioning there, but it wasn’t unbearable. The food came in a timely manner and tasted good. Would’ve liked to see our server more, but it’s understandable since it was a busy night. Would come here again maybe once a year.
Highly recommend reserving ahead if you have a party of five or more. They prep your table and the service from beginning to end was very personable, friendly and just the right amount of attentiveness. The sashimi all-you-can-eat is very fresh and delicious. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their salmon and tuna sashimi, beef sirloin, takoyaki, dragon ball, yellow tail jalapeno, and so much more. Don't forget to ask about their daily special. Today's daily special was crab with black caviar in a truffle sauce. AMAZING! One mistake I made was ordering miso soup. It was delicious, but it filled me up.
The food here was all very good and they have lots of variety! We loved the volcano roll and their katsu was really yummy too! Sometimes they would forget something we ordered but not a big deal since its all you can eat so we would just ask for it again. Also just a heads up when we went there it had grade pending for health score so hopefully that turns to an A
I have been wanting to try Akino for awhile and so on our way back from Connecticut my wife and I made sure to stop in on our way home. It was a Sunday night and was pretty busy, no wait, but almost completely full. The place itself is kinda small, but it is laid out nice as to not feel too cramped. It was decorated for Halloween and overall the dining atmosphere was very enjoyable. Parking could be an issue as there is a grocery store aside of it. The service was very good. All the staff was very friendly, pleasant and attentive. The food was prepared in a timely fashion and was presented well. The fish was fresh and delicious and the kitchen apps were all served at appropriate temperatures. The nigiri and roll pieces are a bit smaller than other AYCE places which is fine with me as the ratios of fish/rice was still good. I just was noting as it may be better for those who are worried they wouldn’t be able to try a few rolls. I usually go for more sashimi which I found to be delicious and I appreciated that everything was cut uniformly and presented well. If I were to nitpick something it would be that the spicy rolls had a bit too much tempura (as I like spicy rolls without tempura), but not a big deal. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Thanks to all the staff.
AYCE place with a variety of options. You def get worth for your buck. The sushi was fresh, plethora of tempura is available whether it’s vegetables or seafood. Lots of special rolls, hand rolls, sushi, and sashimi. If you’re hungry and have the appetite to eat sushi + other Japanese dishes, this is your place.
Love the place, amazing people. Very nice workers. The all you can eat dinner special was totally worth it. We enjoyed our food a lot and they made sure we were happy. Make sure to tip them well. Nice people. Update (July 2024): Still good food and amazing people but the price is not worth it anymore on especially on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays.
Hands down one of my favorite AYCE places in the 5 boroughs. It’s a small little restaurant with some additional tables outside. The sushi comes out quickly and always tastes fresh. Bonus points for not putting a hand full of rice around a tiny piece of fish! The dragon balls are quite possibly my favorite thing on the menu, but you can’t go wrong with any of the specialty rolls. Side note, it’s nice that they allow BYOB but the corking fee is a little much, but they also sell beer and sake so you’re better off just buying from them.
Definitely pricey it was like $40 pp and you had to pay tax and tip sooo. AYCE here is fun in the sense you can just go for anything and try it out instead of sticking to what you know best. Service is very quick here definitely go for any sashimi but the fried scallop and special like the salmon carpaccio (always go for the specials they're worth it!!) You get three menus (idk if you can ask for more) but the three of us used one menu to number how many of each item we wanted and gave it to them to make and we did it three times. DONT GET THE EDAMAME IT IS SO LARGE IT IS A MAIN DISH KILLER!!
We always had all you can eat here. Their sashimi is fresh. They serve all the standard sashimi like tuna, salmon, yellow tail, mackarel, etc. The special roll is also excellent plus so many wide selection dishes from hot kitchen. Akino is always busy. So i recommend you to make reservation.
First of all, best sushi of my life. The fish was very fresh, and it was amazing. The price was alright, 26 dollars a person. But on holidays or other times it goes up to 46 and its packed. When i went me and my mom had to set in the outside area getting dripped on at a plastic table. The food made up for it though. It is a all you can eat restaurant, so we ordered a lot. I would reccomend the fried things such as shrimp tempura (?) rolls or the sweet potato as the frying is amazing. When i tried to go again with the rest of my family, the place was packed and it was a 2 hour wait. And when we went the first time, we didn’t get the worst of the wait or the noise. If you have time on a weekday or a not crazy day (dont listen to the google maps busy rating) you should go. Best sushi ever. *Edit* So i went again a few days ago after the SHSAT, and i saw a few different things. The frying wasnt as good this time. It was still good, but not absolutely amazing like the first time i went. This time i got to try some raw fish cause i had my uncle with me. For not looking good, the fish was very tasty. I also would recommend the spicy salmon, as it is not spicy, but the sauce is good and you can feel a bit on crunch with the normal salmon taste. Also for the specials, i would say to get the dragon balls, and the volcano and the one with spicy salmon. They are both good. Still best sushi.
All-you-can-eat for an amazing deal!!! I actually had no idea it was all-you-can-eat when I decided to come here and was pleasantly surprised as I was super hungry and I believe the deal was $36. You just have to eat all pieces you receive or pay for the ones you don’t finish. The quality was awesome- better than any regular neighborhood sushi spot in Manhattan. I was a bit cold but we ate outside and the outdoor structure blocked out the cold which I appreciated, but if you are looking for an outdoor structure with more ventilation due to covid then it might not be ideal. Service was good- the staff were really working hard to accommodate a ton of people ordering all-you-can-eat. We’re already planning to go back with more friends in a few weeks!
This place is a hidden gem!! My Sunday lunch experience here was exceptional, with each dish surpassing my expectations. The sashimi, in particular, was outstanding, with the salmon being an absolute highlight—its melt-in-your-mouth texture left me craving more. Despite spending a leisurely two hours, the time flew by in the cozy ambiance. I highly advise making a reservation to avoid the inevitable long wait times, but trust me, it's worth it. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough for a memorable dining experience.
FAVORITE ALL YOU CAN EAT (AYCE) sushi buffet in the city! They do not limit you on anything unlike the ones in the city. Great selection of sashimi, rolls and hot food. Despite the pandemic, they are now back with AYCE outdoor dining! So glad! MUST GO for AYCE sushi lovers 🍣 Free ice cream for dessert. I always ask for matcha and red beans. Best combo
Good buffet sushi place in Elmhurst! The sushi does not have that much rice and it’s mostly meat which I like! Location: It is located in Elmhurst. It is beside the supermarket. Parking is kinda busy but just wait. The interior is small, I came here during lunch on a weekday and it was little busy already, so during weekend it will be packed. Service: she was so nice and explained to me the process. You will order by the paper menu and give it to someone. Food: Everything was good. Huge servings of sushi 8 pcs per order. I order only 3 kinds of sushi because its 24 in total. The sushi does not have that much rice, its mostly meat so it is worth your money. AKINO: it has eel on it and not that spicy. Cucumber at avocado is fresh. RAINBOW: this is my favorite, it has all the fish that is available in their menu. Taste really good. HYPEST: my favorite too! Cause it has salmon inside and mango sauce. SASHIMI: you have to order 2-3pcs because they are thinly sliced. SALMON DRAGON BALL: my least favorite cause it is crunchy and wet. Lol SHRIMP and PORK KATSU: i like this, the tempuras are crispy, but order more than 1. RED BEAN ICE CREAM: you have to ask for this, they will let you follow their IG account and give this for free! Price rating: 7/10, it is not that bad for the amount of sushi. Better to have someone with you so you can try other flavors of sushi. Will definitely come back here if I am craving for sushi! Very convenient cause its beside the grocery.
I came for Friday dinner. When I got here, the exterior seemed... not the best. It didn't seem like a 4.4-star restaurant. And the plastic utensils and plates, which I assume started during COVID, were not my favorite. But the servers and the food wowed me! Servers were welcoming, nice, fast, and receptive to requests. Food came out quickly, and maki/rolls weren't 50% rice (that's a first!), and the menu had a good range of sashimi selection. They had abalone for the monthly special, and it was fresh and delicious. It started to get crowded, but it was not loud or crazy. It was $42 per person before tip and tax, and it was worth every penny. I need to come back. I can easily say this was one of my favorite AYCE places in New York. Highly recommended!
Drove down from Greenwich Ct to try them out after seeing reviews on Instagram. The food and service were excellent! All kinds of sushi and Asian food. Parking was kind of a nightmare as they share parking with several businesses. We drove around the lot a few times before we found a spot. But it was worth it.
One of the best all-you-can-eat there is! If you’re craving Japanese cuisine this is the place for you. Great selection of food and everything is made-to-order so everything comes out fresh, tasty and delicious. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth here. They have hot foods, sushi, rolls, salad and everything else. Highly recommend. Make sure you bring a good appetite. And I think they give a discount if you’re paying in cash.
We went to Akino for lunch on a Sunday at around 2PM, so we paid $42.99/pp for AYCE. We didn’t have a reservation, and it was crowded when we got there with almost every table occupied. Even so, they sat us immediately. The staff were kind and attentive, taking our orders very quickly. As for the food, all of our cooked dishes came out hot and our sushi was super fresh. I also appreciate that they don’t pad all their sushi with a ton of rice. The pictures really don’t do it justice (I also forgot to take pictures after our 2nd round)!! This is a hidden gem, and well worth coming to from Manhattan/any other borough.
To start, if you going to eat in an all you can eat I always recommend to be really hungry specially in this place. The food is amazing, they make the sushi rolls, sashimi anything you order they make it as you order it. The food is really fresh they have a huge variety of deep fried rolls, special rolls, the regular rolls as well and so many other options like fries octopus, a cutlet of pork, beef and chicken katsu. They have so many options. This is a really nice place to go with your friends and share. I highly recommend getting the Dyname roll, is a deep fried roll with cream cheese it was so good. As well as the options that have mango in it. The staff in this place is very professional, very attentive and I want to say that they make you feel welcome, they have a really good service.
Took the boys out tonight for some of the best sushi in NYC! Akino (82-80 Broadway, Elmhurst, NY 11373)We went here at around 5PM and the place was very busy for early dinner. I can imagine how busy this place can get during the weekends The sushi was so good and their dinner menu included unlimited sashimi. My sons loved everything from the soup, the rolls, tempura, and sashimi. Go with a big group so you get to try more things. I went mainly for the sashimi salmon and it is out of this world. Great quality fish and fresh. It is where every meal is a journey of flavor and culture. Highly Recommended! #akino #Queens
Made reservations in advance for a party of 8 on a Saturday evening. Our table was ready as we got there and they have a time limit of 2 hrs. Very efficient AYCE ordering system, where you write down the number of plates you want for each respective item. We HAD to get their sashimi pieces, which were thinly sliced and very fresh! We DOWNED the platter in 10 min LOL Reasonably priced AYCE prices for lunch + dinner as well, considering their quality. Service is great as well! They also have a newly built section, which was bright and clean. Highly recommend if you're in the Elmhurst area, but be sure to make reservations in advance as it's a very popular spot!
Super fresh sashimi for dinner. The appetizers, especially the bomb and the sushi pizza were really good. The food came out super fast, especially for a fully packed restaurant on a Saturday night. The service was super attentive, servers were always nearby to refill water, take away plates, or take your next order. The outdoor space is well designed and a super pleasant experience. It started raining while we were there and we didn’t even notice.
I always come back here with my boyfriend whenever we are craving all you can eat sushi!! They have a wonderful selection for about $50 per person before tips and tax. Easily the best all you can eat place with the freshest seafood. One time I even brought my dog and they were so accommodating and offered us outdoor seating. Not sure if this still applies since that was during peak quarantine times but restaurants started reopening.
Super yummy! I came on a Wednesday evening for AYCE sushi. It was 40.99 per person which I don’t think is that bad for quality sushi plus it’s unlimited for 2 hours. You do get charged if you waste food so don’t get more than you can manage. Sushi was super fresh and the service is super quick. We were sat down immediately and they explained the process. We got a few different rolls, tempura shrimp and eggplant, salmon sashimi, edamame, salmon tatami, and the salmon ball which was super good! No complaints and it was worth the ride from Harlem.
A hidden gem for AYCE sushi/sashimi. Very easy to get to off the R line (though in a strip mall with parking if you’re driving). On the smallish side so I can see how this can feel snug at max capacity. I went on a Friday ~3pm so it was not crowded at all. Note: slightly cheaper on weekdays and get a 5% discount if paying cash. Service was great, very attentive and polite. As soon as I checked off my order they swooped by and I never had to wait long on refills. Everything tasted fresh and since I was dining solo, I avoided the rolls or heavier dishes like udon or tempura cause I’d fill up too fast (my strategy was to net out even haha). I would come again with a group so I can sample a larger variety, but it’s not a place I would go out of my way for regularly. Give it a shot and pace yourself 😋
The Dragon Balls are absolutely delicious deff a standout! Overall, this was a fantastic experience. The sushi was super fresh and the rice to fish ratio is honestly one of the best I’ve come across perfectly balanced in every bite. All you can eat for $45 is perfect. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone craving quality sushi!! Small tip: Keep an eye on your orders and stay on top of the staff since you only get 2 hours for the unlimited menu.
Really delicious food as always! The fish is the freshest and the flavor of everything we ordered was amazing. The only complaint we had was how cold the restaurant was. Not sure why the heat wasn’t turned on as it is the middle of winter. Other than that, our experience was lovely.
This place is one of my favorite AYCE sushi spots in NYC! Sushi was great! We loved the nigiris, as well as the specialty rolls. The fried rice blew me away! You genuinely get great quality here. The service is so efficient, patient and welcoming. There is also plenty of parking available! I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting good quality all you can eat sushi!
We went for lunch on a weekday so it was a lot more cost friendly. It was cheaper to pay by cash, so we did that. The food was good and there were lots of options! Even the non-sushi dishes were good like their fried rices & katsus. Only downside was we were seated in the back and they might’ve been taking inventory, but there was a door open, so it was freezing!
Thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Akino in the Elmhurst location. Place was clean, quiet, and servers were very attentive to our empty plates and water cups. I did come on a Monday afternoon for lunch, so I'm sure that helped as well. I ordered a little bit of everything on their AYCE lunch menu and really enjoyed the fried scallops and all the sushi rolls that contained mango! Will definitely recommend this location and will be coming again!
If you love sushi or specialty rolls you should try here. We came here on Thursday lunch AYCE. Weekday lunch buffet is about 28 or 29 per person. The food is fresh and made to order. Try their specialty rolls. It was delicious. You order thru a ipad. The kitchen items I like shrimp tempura, Kani salad and fried squid. I try their pork katsu it was too thin and dry. The space is small but the service was good. If you pay cash you get small discount.
The sashimi here is incredibly fresh with a great variety. The staff are friendly and attentive, actively helping us with our orders, and the food comes out on our table quickly as we expected. The two of us ended up ordering three rounds and were completely full. Definitely great value for money and worthy to try
I go here every year for my bday with 20-30 people for unlimited sushi. They recently expanded the space so it’s even better. But really incredible value. 40$ for sushi of high quality with good portions. And staff is always really accommodating
literally our Most Favorite casual Restaurant to eat at !! They have the sweetest staff & the best service.. the space is lovely .. it's open & clean & looks newly remodeled. The fish is fresh & so tasty.. no weird tastes, textures, or smells ... the menu is so extensive .. we Love the salmon Sashimi & sushi, the white tuna is so buttery !! The handRolls are great, & the signature Rolls are so fun & yum!! the shrimp tempura is delicious & always fried to order it's so hot & crunchy & the shrimp is the pertect texture .. never overcooked, Never Rubbery !! The price is insane !! Such an amazing Deal!! We love it here .. & Will always come back!!
Depending on where you sit will change your mind for the atmosphere but everything here is great for the price. Recommend on making a reservation as it gets super busy. They have monthly special so definitely take advantage of that. Parking is a little difficult so recommend on parking on the street few blocks down. If you do find parking, that is great but getting out is difficult.
final night in new york and found this decent looking all you can eat sushi spot near the airbnb, very surprised by how good this all was. $42 per person (or $44 on friday, saturday and sunday) is an absolute steal considering this sushi is actually pretty good. the nigiri and classic rolls are small but the fish is very fresh and you can keep ordering them so not a problem. the red snapper jalepeno dish had a lovely dressing and worked really well together. the 'kitchen' dises we tried were all solid - the wings were great and probably the highlight of the hot food, the takoyaki wasnt the best though. tried a selection of the cooked and raw signature rolls and they were all excellent too.
Been long time haven't get all u can eat sushi/seafood, also want to improve my iron for platelets donation later Anyway get lunch price for $28 (cash) all u can eat for 2 hours, quick service didn't wait too long Food portion is good, the staff is nice & helpful (pics) Clean bathroom too The restaurant also have another food options, just come & check it out (enjoy!)
When I walked in and saw it was all you can eat, I was a bit worried since it’s very hard to find places with this model that are actually delicious. But this place truly exceeded my expectations. The mango salmon sushi was spectacular, the edamame was delicious, the Akino sushi was amazing, and the gyozas were great. The salmon and tuna sashimi were outstanding, and the yellowtail sashimi was simply incredible. The service was very good, the person who took care of us had only been working there for 2 days, but honestly did an excellent job. Definitely a place I recommend and one I will gladly come back to.
Really nice place - the food was delicious and staff were super friendly. I came with my husband and we tried a little of everything. Highlights were the yellowtail jalapeño, the salmon dragon ball and the specialty rolls. I wish we lived closer so we could come all the time!! The hostess was super sweet, and our waiter explained everything to us. They’ll also give you ice cream if you follow their insta page. Highly recommend!
My husband has long since complained about not getting excellent quality sushi/sashimi since he moved to the city. Akino was a game changer for him. We both did the $43 AYCE so we tried a ton of things. So impressed by how fresh and delicious everything was. Also, really appreciate that it’s more fish than rice.
This is one of my favorites ayce sushi places! The sushi and sashimi it’s always fresh and has a good selection of special rolls, classics and appetizers. Service it’s always quick since you have 90min to order and they are always very kind accommodating big groups with kids. Kids under 2 eat for free and losers have a reduce price.
Dang this place slaps especially with the ayce menu. Typical ayce prices but this ain’t your average sushi ayce. They really don’t try to squeeze you for your last penny out of the price you’re paying. All you can eat sashimi (they don’t judge) and they ain’t stacking rice on you. They know exactly what you came there for. If you look at the maki’s I have posted, there’s quite a shortage on rice there (big plus). Value met every time and you definitely will walk out of here knowing you got your dollars worth even if you didn’t uncomfortably stuffed yourself. Spoiler: they give you a charms lollipop a person after checking out
This is a hidden gem. $43 all-you-can-eat dinner or $29 lunch with lots of sushi and other japanese food options like katsu and tempura. Despite being unlimited, all the sushi is actually very good. Bear in mind that the pieces are quite small though, so order away. The rolls have a thin outer layer of rice, so you get a lot of filling. I wish the drinks had been colder, none of the beers were truly cold. Would definitely recommend.
This place is too lit. We’ve come two times now and both times was more than we would ever want from an AYCE. Food is really good, fish is fresh, and the service is quick and friendly! Also appreciate that their tuna is like real, fresh akami and not the usual frozen block kind from a lot of regular sushi places. The two best raw rolls were the one with lobster salad and fried sweet potato on top and the one with spicy scallop on top. They also have a special (monthly?) and it hits every time. $50pp after tax and tip. I think they may have added another section to the restaurant. We sat in the new area and it was so clean and comfortable. Sorry we ate so much love u guys.

The food taste good but as a sushi restaurant, there’s no reason you should not have an A food rating grade so i definitely won’t be going back
I have been here two times. Coming from a sushi connoisseur, the fish is always fresh (especially the salmon), and the portions are smaller than a normal sushi restaurant (although I'm thankful for that because it is AYCE, just make sure to order more of your favorites!). I really like how this establishment lets you order sashimi, ikura, and surf clams as opposed to a normal AYCE sushi place. If you really want to get the biggest bang for your buck, skip the rolls/appetizers and go straight to the sashimi :))) The staff is also really friendly. I paid $36.99 + tip/tax -> $45 per person for a Saturday dinner. We also got free ice cream for following them on Instagram (choice of green tea, red bean, and vanilla). I would go here more often if it wasn't so expensive, since this is definitely one of the more luxurious places. If you want to pay more than $10 less, then I suggest going to Brooklyn for AYCE sushi.
Service was a little slow , but the place was packed so that was ok! Definitely make sure you can eat . Leftovers will be charged at menu price ! That said 50ish dollars for all you can eat ( at a clean place) what more can you ask for !!
I don’t enjoy sushi at all, but this is the only spot I can really enjoy sushi. This spot makes great sushi that literally tastes amazing. I will never eat sushi from anywhere else except from Akino. I am not even joking their sushi is the best. Akino> all other sushi 🍣 🍱 Btw it’s all you can eat If you go late it’s a lot more The only thing I don’t like is when they keep saying “tip is not Included” which can get annoying. And makes me not want to even tip. Other than that great spot
We were a party of four going for the all you can eat on New Year day. Service was excellent, the staff was very friendly and they seemed very well coordinated. Price for the AYCE was $38.99 each. Contrary to some other reviews, and reviews in other places as well, we found that the sushi came with just enough rice, not too much. Some sushi was really good, some others we didn't like that much but still the quality looked good. Paying with cash was a better option than paying with card. The place looked nice and clean. However, we noticed an overuse of plastic (glasses, plates...), which could be a point of improvement. Overall a great dinner. Would repeat, and recommend to others.
Decent sushi for an AYCE restaurant. We went on a weekend for lunch and it was very busy. We were lucky to have been seated so quickly. The restaurant is cute with exposed brick walls and open layout. I noticed that the noise level is high but I didn't mind since I went with two small kids who were very noisy! As soon as you sit down, you are given two or three sheets of the AYCE menu to check off items from. We were sadden to see that sashimi was not included in the lunch menu, only in the dinner menu. But I did find that the sushi rolls were just the right size. Sometimes, at other AYCE places, the rolls are too big with too much rice which makes you fuller quicker. We found the staff to be very friendly but because it was packed the day we went, the service was a little slow. They made up for it by giving everyone at our table free scoops of ice cream for dessert. Also, even though it was very busy, they did not rush us out which I appreciated. You get a small discount if you pay with cash. All in all I was happy we went and tried this place.
There is a good assortment of sashimi and sushi rolls. I recommend the eel, octopus, red clam, yellowtail, salmon sashimi, and the special rolls. However, I would skip the red snapper, squid, and sushi pizza. The texture of these was not the best, and the sushi pizza was just a big ball of rice, fried and cut into quarters, topped with yellowtail and crabmeat.
I’ve been to Akino a few times already, and it’s a decent AYCE sushi and sashimi restaurant. It takes me about a 10-15 minute walk to get there. Plus, it’s located in a populated area, so it’s pretty accessible and convenient. The space, itself, is tight and crowded on a Saturday evening. There’s barely enough space to accommodate each diner. Each table is also relatively small when you consider how much space each platter takes up. Don’t expect a comfortable dining experience. As for the food, it’s pretty good. Since it’s AYCE, you can order any food at any quantity as long as it’s on the menu. I typically order sashimi, sushi, and some appetizers to get things rolling. Their sashimi are fresh, and each serving is good. I ordered some Ika Sansai Salad (squid salad), Takoyaki, and Salmon Dragon Ball. The squid is pretty tender and well marinated. The Salmon Dragon Ball is delicious, and I love the amount of avocado and salmon they offer per piece. As for the signature roll, I highly recommend the Lobster Roll. At the time of writing (5/25/24), the AYCE dinner price is $42.99 on weekends & holidays and $40.99 on Monday to Thursday. It’s a somewhat steep price especially for those who aren’t into sushi, sashimi, and/or Japanese cuisine in general. You really need to order a good variety in order to make your money’s worth!
Good all you can eat (AYCE) sushi is hard to come by, so discovering Akino during lunch was a blessing sent from heaven. If you have a big appetite and love sushi, this is the place. The portions are small, but this is designed so you don’t overindulge and have to pay extra for waste. We went on a Friday afternoon, and the service was adequate, but could be improved. Making and delivering the food was rather fast, and we didn’t have to wait long. I personally enjoyed the sushi pieces. My favorites were the eel, tuna, and tobiko. I also loved eating the volcano roll. It was not too overwhelming and tasted refreshing. If you want to get the most out of your dining experience, avoid getting rolls that have cream cheese/excess rice in there. These ingredients are designed to get you full very quickly without eating too much. I found the Boston roll to be a bit much, but it was still really good nonetheless. Their fried pieces were also delicious. I was particularly fond of their scallops. They were crispy yet still juicy inside. It didn’t have a rubbery texture, which is hard to execute on scallop dishes. I ended the meal with a miso soup to cleanse my palate, and it was delicious. I’d recommend coming here to feast on all the sushi they have to offer. For $24.99, this offer is too good to pass up.
Went on a Friday for lunch. Before we were seated, the staff let us know that it was a dinner menu all day that day, and would cost a bit more ($43) with the all you can eat This sushi AYCE certainly has a lot more options than many others and if I lived in the area, I would probably come back; but for the price, I likely would not trek in from another borough again. The tataki and the dragon ball items were unique and tasty.
The outdoor seating is not bad at all. Unlimited sushi usually indicates something is lacking or missing but in this case the flavors, taste and speed of service where all above and beyond. The seating was socially distance approved and the heat lamps work wonders. Not the best looking place to eat but definitely worth it. The food does not fall short. Good price also. Staff super friendly. All and all great experience.
A little pricey for the dinner menu but we had to do it. I like sashimi and don’t like to get filled up with all that sushi rice. Also, many of the fish, roll, and appetizer options were not available on the lunch menu. The fish was fresh but could be sliced thicker and their hot appetizers were all really well made. (Minus the beef teriyaki which was really tough and the seafood udon noodle soup that didn’t have much flavor) I did notice that their rolls were not packed with rice so maybe the cheaper lunch option could be the way to go next time. I also noticed as we ordered our third round of sashimi, the fish didn’t look as good anymore. My suggestion is that if you’re ordering sashimi, try to get your entire sashimi order in on the first round.
I had the AYCE on weekend prices ($43) and it was one of the better ACYE sushi I’ve had. The sashimi is really good and they don’t limit the number you can get. There’s a lot of options for appetizers, and most of them are solid. Some rolls were good, but others were mid (just not my preference). The service wasn’t as good - the waiters rarely came around to check for additional orders to add water.
It's an interesting sushi buffet restaurant. There are many menus to choose from. The shop has many seats. If you're going with more than 2 people, we recommend calling in advance to reserve a table. The staff manning my table was rather uncaring. I sent the menu in about 10-15 minutes and the food still hasn‘t been served.
Recently came back here with my friend and honestly, you can’t ask for more it’s super delicious. The fish seems fresh and you can see the sushi chef’s right there cutting and slicing everything. I’d say the portions for the appetizers and stuff on the menu are kind of small but it makes sense. Our waiter attended us maybe once or twice but I like that since we don’t have to be interrupted. Overall, it’s such a nice place. I think it could be a little more affordable, but you can’t really beat the price when it comes to 2025.
I’ve came here several times when Akino had the outdoor seating in the parking lot and also experienced the indoor seating. The outdoor seating was a bit uncomfortable, so glad they got rid of it. The service has been pretty good. I’ve never had an issue except for the time I found something in my water and asked for a new one. The food itself is good! I love the variety of menu items and no limit on sashimi is great. This is one of the only two Japanese spots I go to in the area. I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting Elmhurst or craving for sushi and sashimi or even for a special occasion.
akino is rather good value for the price of AYCE sushi. with tip and tax, your meal totals around $60/per person. it's located at a small strip mall in elmhurst located next to teazzi, and there's a spacious parking lot in case you're making the drive. there is a good amount of variety, even though the fresh fish option isn't huge, you can get full off of the variety of their other options. while some of the fish is fresh, i'm slightly concerned about the other options, as my s/o and i had some stomach upset the night of our meal. the best options to order here are the fresh sashimi, the salads, and some of the fried options. the unagi nigiri itself is excellent, sweet, and light. we were disappointed in the more traditional options, such as udon soup, noodle stir fry, etc. they were rather bland and insignificant. the staff can be varied--while the host is friendly, most of the workers there exhibit an apathetic attitude, and some foods often don't come out in order and become lost. i'm not sure if i would come back--while it was fun to enjoy the novelty of the restaurant, none of the options particularly stood out to me as amazing. the fish was fresh, but not memorable, and the travel from manhattan is rather inconvenient. great to try, but maybe not to visit on a regular basis. it might be more worth it for lunch, which cuts the cost pre-tax and tip by about $15.
With regular and holiday pricing, absolutely not worth spending $60 per person (with tip) because you get full way faster than you realize and don’t get your moneys worth! But lunching pricing? $28 for that much good sushi? I’ve been going back extra early just to get that lunch menu. The fish are so fresh, everything just melts in your mouth. Everything is flavorful and I just wish I could keep ordering if only my stomach would allow it. I don’t think there was a single bad menu item. Even if I didn’t like the flavor, it was never because of their culinary skills but my personal taste. You can tell everything is made professionally. The place is much smaller than the Flushing location however, with a lot of workers running around and kind of hovering over you, but if that doesn’t bother you, go! Best AYCE sushi (during lunch!)
Pretty good AYCE sushi spot. Sashimi quality is pretty good for the salmon and white tuna. The price is bit on the pricier side for the location but you will find consistency which you want with sushi and sashimi for an enjoyable experience. When we went the rolls were not overly stuffed with rice. The dreaming roll was great. The size and portion of items is small but since its all you can eat, it doesn’t matter. The service is pretty good. Try to go on a non busy time during the week for best experience.

At Akinos, the sushi buffet format is like your regular AYCE sushi places where you mark up a checklist of their menu. The sushi is good in that the flavour of the fish and the sushis in general are excellent. However, the reason why I gave the restaurant a 3 is because the plates they give you are not real plates. I am not sure whether it is because of COVID, but the plates the restaurant give you are take out sushi boxes. In addition, usually sushi buffets offer unlimited ice cream but this place offers only once after you follow them on instagram. So make sure you have an instagram account ready!! Other than these criticisms, the food is flavourful and tasty and the service was attentive and welcoming which makes this restaurant deserve its 3 stars.
Food was good and the service was great. Getting seated around after 9pm and placing your order and have to wait (awhile) not going to time for the sushi to come. I guess being here first time do your kitchen order and put in sushi separately maybe that way it won't feel like a long wait. Yes I will recommend this place because the food was fresh and delicious.
I am a frequenter of this akino location for its convenience and parking lot. The fish to rice ratio is always good and since the renovation a couple years back, the atmosphere is very nice. They also recently switched to tablet ordering which is convenient as you can see what was ordered and see the items itself. This visit I felt compelled to write a review because the service was less than par... When we asked for our check, our interaction with the older male server with glasses was unpleasant. It was regarding food that we had ordered in the beginning of our meal that was not brought out until we asked for the check. The accusatory tone, as if we were purposely ordering too much to waste when in fact, the items were long forgotten as the service had slowed down, paired with the way the message was delivered left an unpleasant taste after our meal. The younger servers are usually okay in all the past visits. I don't know what that guy's problem was.
This is an all you can eat place. You got 2 hours. The sashimi were good, but I feel like the cuts on the tuna weren't as good as other places. Too much fiber, and it gets stuck in-between your teeth. The food were well put together. The chicken wings were not great. It tastes like it was frozen for too long. The food came really quick, but we ordered 4 miso soup, and only got 1. And it's no big deal it's all you can eat so we ordered more miso. But it was weird. That they would miss an order like that. And the spoon used for the soup were those cheapy halal truck spoons. The parking is tricky. There is a parking lot outside but it's shared by so many other stores.
Not very impressed, Food is ok. Nothing Amazing, not alot of space & very cold in the back, but they did tell me. One thing that bothered me was a plastic package for wasabi shown in the picture.....Really ! Also a deal breaker they do not & I repeat do not have any Hot Sake !!!! But Mo was amazing, just gave my Wife a Free Ice Bar for her Birthday. P.S. The Parking Sucks bad .....very very bad !
There are a couple reasons why I rated this place so low. Mainly just centered on pricing alone. For nearly $50!! which is what you have to pay for if you want the buffet special you get access to their entire list of sushi rolls which they have plenty of options which I will give them added points for variety on the menu. Their takeout boxes are crazy priced as in you can get a few signature rolls or so for their least price which would be close to $25 and trust me you won’t be filled on that. If you waste any food they will add that to your bill depending on what was ordered specifically and what quantity. If you want to take any leftovers home I believe it would $20 to your bill as well. They add gratuity as not a tip but a mandatory payment on your bill. The place is also kind of squished together as in not much place to bring your family or group of friends if you want to dine in since it’s always busy. There are a handful of people cooking and working the joint so at least the wait time is not bad 5-10 mins tops depending on what you ordered. You have to circle everything you want on a menu before you order and be careful as in buffets you tend to fill up much faster then anticipated. Circle a few things you can handle eating so you avoid any extra fees and if you want to eat more you can do so by asking for another menu. They do have soju as well as some drinks on the bar.

We visited Akino a couple of times before the pandemic and dealt with hour long waits for a table and full reservations etc but each time we were very happy with the food and service. But this visit was different almost everything was not the same except for our helpful and down to earth host who was also the manager - the went well above anyone else working there. So onto the differences or our present experience - we walked in and noticed the restaurant was a bit warm but luckily barely waited 15minutes for a table in the back a table before the turn to the restrooms. As we were taken to our table we immediately felt the temperature rise and once seated we also started to smell the odor or either the restroom or more likely the floors from possibly grease or an old musty mop they used? Our host was very nice and we placed our order with her. After sitting a few more minutes we could no longer bear the lack of cold aircond and the warm temps we asked the manager why the restaurant’s aircond was not blowing cold air. She mentioned it’s been like that all summer and the owner can’t find the issue. So we asked if we could change our table to the outdoor seating area with standup fans. It was a 90 degree day and humid but better outside than inside! Then appetizers and food came - most were served on the plastic tops of take out containers or small paper plates! This was not the case the last couple of times we visited and a bit of a let down in presentation/ambiance in all honesty. The sushi and sashimi at least was served on large plates or a serving tray as normal. The food and sushi was still good as we remembered but a big catch - most was getting warm before it was presented to us at our table. Understandably so because the restaurant’s aircond and temp was not cool either. Service was mediocre by half the staff and the other half was ok only exception was the manager. Considering all these items that need attention and compared to our previous visited preCovid experience as well as being one of the higher priced AYCE Sushi spots that I know of in the boros - I would say we aren’t eager to try Akino again anytime soon.

I had a really disappointing experience at this sushi spot. While eating, I actually saw roaches inside the restaurant — completely unacceptable for a food establishment. The place needs a serious deep cleaning and better hygiene standards. I couldn’t even finish my meal after that. Definitely won’t be coming back or recommending this place to anyone until they address their sanitation
RACIST!!!!! I had a very uncomfortable and upsetting experience at this sushi restaurant. It started off good but in the middle of our dinner multiple staff members repeatedly looked at our table, laughed, spoke to each other in another language, then turned back to look at us and laugh again. This went on in a cycle with several waiters for about three minutes. When we finally asked what was so funny, the man who seemed to be leading the conversation laughed even more and walked away. The female staff members looked flustered and tried to brush it off by saying it was “a joke,” but when we asked them to explain, they couldn’t. One of them claimed it was about our “work schedule,” yet still couldn’t explain what was funny about it. The entire situation felt targeted and disrespectful. We felt mocked and unwelcome, and it came across as racist behavior. No customer should ever be made to feel this way while dining. If you are not Asian, please be aware of how customers may be treated here
Wouldn’t recommend. The service was nice but food was not the best. After the first round I regretted coming here. Rolls with the shrimp tempera was bad and the rolls just taste like mush in your mouth when you eat it. Give up on the rolls and decided to order food so we ordered the chicken wings and cooked salmon. The wings was oily and had a sour taste, most likely rotten and stored incorrectly in the kitchen. The salmon was decent though, had a sweet honey taste to it. Overall good customer service but bad food 😭 Update: got a stomachache
I would like to share brief feedback regarding my recent visit. I found a strand of hair in my sashimi and informed the staff. They offered to replace the dish, but I chose only to have the affected piece removed to avoid food waste. I continued my meal without further issue. When I received the check, I was charged in full, which I accepted. However, shortly after, a staff member returned to collect payment for a missed Coke. While I do not mind paying for it, as a restaurant owner in New York myself, I felt the situation could have been handled more professionally. When a restaurant makes a mistake, I believe acknowledging it with care and responsibility is important for the guest experience. I hope this feedback is helpful.
