Opinions de Pho Bang Elmhurst Broadway
Eating the Vietnamese crispy spring rolls is like eating an entire meal in one bite; so rich, so complex, balanced filling. I got the combination rice noodles, beef soup with beef meat balls whereas my partner ate the combination rice noodles, beef soup with fresh eye of round, navel and tendon. We both left feeling satisfied, full, and refreshed. We also got iced espresso special filter condensed milk coffee to go, it made our afternoon! Pretty straight forward service, we like it.
I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s still my go-to spot for a decent bowl of pho. I always order the #30 pho, but I also occasionally get the pork chop over rice, the fried spring rolls, or summer rolls. The service is quick even when the place gets busy, and they clean up the tables right away. After you finish eating, you leave your tip and bring your bill up to the front to pay. If you're craving a comforting bowl of pho broth, this place will do.
Pretty good food here. The menu has a wide selection and from what I can tell everything looks pretty good. The pho I had was very good although you don’t get that much meet. We ordered this noodle and pork dish that you wrap in lettuce and that was much better than the pho. The waiters aren’t too nice and the restaurant is no frills but if you’re looking for a quick option it’s good. The prices are good but average for the neighborhood.
This is by far the best pho (with flank beef, tendon, beef ball) I’ve ever had. The tender rare thinly sliced beef was very premium tasting. The basil and bean sprout couldn’t be fresher. And of course the star of the show is the fantastic broth. The grilled pork chops and fried spring rolls were great too. The nearby Pho Bac which unfortunately closed had pho beef broth that was not as good (but still superb) but had tastier beef balls. The other nearby pho place Pho Best left a lot to be desired and should’ve been the one to close IMHO. Pho Bac is a must-eat and a must-return.
This is THE BEST place in the city to get Pho. I’ve been coming here ever since I was a kid (except during a period where the restaurant had closed due to a fire). The food here is incredibly delicious, the waitstaff are friendly and attentive, and the food comes out promptly after ordering. I came in around 5pm on a Sunday and thankfully there was no wait and we were seated (party of two at a table for four) immediately. I ordered my go-to’s which are Summer Rolls and a large bowl of Pho and, as per usual, they did not disappoint. The grilled pork chop on top of rice is also one of my favorites. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area and/or if you’re looking for some amazing authentic Vietnamese food at fair prices. FYI: This is as much of a no frills restaurant as it gets. You come in, you eat, and you go. Otherwise, visibly impatient employees will hover around you. Just don’t make eye contact to avoid any awkwardness and you’ll be fine until you’re ready to leave lol. Cash only (pay up at the cashier) and don’t forget to tip back at your table.
Pho is amazing been going here for years. So nice to see an old school type restaurant, very simple very nice. We tipped a little a they asked for more tip which seemed a little rude.
Cold days call for something steaming hot, and this place nails it. The pho broth is fragrant and piping hot with tender beef, the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce hit the spot, Tasty food and quick service overall. One small note for the front staff: once we’re seated, please give us a minute to look through the menu instead of hovering to take the order we might have ordered even more with a little time 🙂 Still, we’ll be back because the food is genuinely great.
the food, i’d give 1000/10 in a heartbeat, it was DELICIOUS. the beansprout, 10000/10 (i LOVE beansprout), they got rid of the end and it’s super fresh. but they only accept cash and there’s ppl fighting when i got there so yeah.. but if you want a great pho, definitely come here, but dont forget your cash and you cant sit for long bcs there’s always a line (ppl know where the good food is)
I absolutely love Vietnamese food—pho is my ultimate comfort food. I come here at least twice a month. The pork chops are perfectly cooked and marinated, and I just discovered something new—crab cakes! They totally made my day, and I enjoyed every bite. The only thing that keeps us a little apart is that they only accept cash.
Pho Bang has been around for decades (at least the one from Mott St). Just like their Chinatown location, this location has some of the best Pho noodle soup and spring rolls at a really good price. The Pho soup is rich, and the meat are prepared just right. The spring rolls are crispy and tasty especially with their dipping sauce. Their food portions are great and hearty, and everything about it speaks Vietnamese (including the staff no pun intended)! Overall, it’s worth a revisit!
There aren't many good Vietnamese restaurants in Elmhurst unfortunately. This place is pretty decent. I have to say the portion for broken rice is huge with 2 pieces of pork chops. For the egg roll, they don't use the typical Chinese egg roll wrapper, but this is not exactly the same as the one we would use in Vietnam either, but it is quite good. Cash only.
Super good pho, amazing portion with great low price and the taste was spot on. Sooooooo much beef. The watercress with garlic was really delicious, with garlic and semi sweet flavors. Grilled pork chop over rice was very flavorful. Also sweet and really special taste. The peanut sauce for the summer rolls were so good!
I love Vietnamese Pho and was disappointed with the Pho here, so little broth and too many noodles. The crispy egg rolls and summer rolls with peanut sauce were yummy. We had a corner table and weren't rushed which made for a pleasant dining experience. The complimentart jasmine tea was perfect with our meal and I appreciated receiving two cups of the comforting tea. Authentic Vietnamese food but the Pho was a bit disappointing.
Food was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Easily a 10/10, but there’s a problem with the service. First of all, I came alone so I was put on a table filled with others who also ate solo. I was okay with it, until some of them started to cough up phlegm, among some others who slurped really loudly on their food. At that moment I immediately thought probably this is the norm for this type of cash restaurant which usually doesn’t mind no tips. The service was hostile too btw. No hello no thank you. What set me off was the moment I put down my chopsticks after I finished eating, when one waiter came standing by my side, as if trying to chase me away. So, I immediately put on my coat and walked to the cashier to pay. When I almost walked out the door, the other waiter LITERALLY came chasing me and said “hello hello hello hello, TIP???” with his hands laid out. Omg. I still can’t believe it. I’m never going back until they fix this service.
First off, food is great. Doesn’t miss. Pricing isn’t bad either. Most of them don’t speak great English so order carefully. They ended up adding a random fee to mine and they couldn’t really explain what it was. Ended up spending $18 per person for pho. A bit high in the area imo.
Was craving pho and always noticed this place and decided to go here instead of pho best. Hearing how authentic this place was I was excited to try. That being said, we were greeted with such a rush in that as soon as we sat down we were expected to order. After saying we needed a minute, a waiter (different each time) would come around and keep pestering that we order. Once our order was taken, the service was always impolite and seemed as if no one wanted to work there. We thought that this establishment probably doesn’t take tip which is why the service was very unpleasant. Unsurprisingly we were chased to the door demanding a tip for a specific amount from the waiter. No matter how polite we were, every single staff in here was hostile. The food was good but not good enough to deal with such unpleasant attitude. The service really took away from the experience.
Walking in with a half empty space. The waiter wants to seating me in a big table to sharing space with someone i don’t know. I kindly ask if i can have a seat on the small table that fit for one and he refused. Never come back here again.
⭐ 1 Star (Only because zero isn’t an option) Absolutely horrendous customer service. We went in as a couple and politely ordered just one dish because only one of us found something acceptable on the menu. Instead of understanding or accommodating, the staff flat-out denied us service. Yes, they refused to serve us simply because we weren’t ordering more food. Apparently, at this place, it’s not about hospitality or treating customers with respect—it’s about forcing you to spend more money, even if it means making someone eat something they don’t want. Ridiculous. The server was rude, dismissive, and made us feel unwelcome from the moment we explained our situation. There was no effort to be understanding or flexible—just a cold, robotic “we can’t serve you if you’re sharing one dish.” What kind of restaurant punishes people for not overeating? We left embarrassed, hungry, and stunned by how poorly we were treated. I’ve dined in many places around the world and never experienced anything so needlessly petty and inhospitable. Avoid this place at all costs unless you’re okay with being treated like a walking wallet instead of a guest.
