Opinions de Plumeria Vegetarian Food Encinitas
I had an excellent lunch here last week.I ordered the cashew nut w vegetarian chicken, zucchini, carrots, celery, bell pepper etc.the base sauce they used is almost similar to the regular Thai food I eat in Thai Town, Los Angeles except for the real taste of chicken.Prices are about 10 to 15% higher than other Thai restaurants.Service is excellent and I like the interior design.
So Good! Hands down best Thai food for miles. So.hard to believe it is Vegetarian and Vegan friendly. Beware the Spice factor is HOTTER than any Thai you have ever tasted... Iove it hot and level 6 was almost too hot for me. Still I ate every last bite of the Savory Ginger Dish I ordered. Their Mock Duck is a treat. I highly recommend.
I walked by this gem in downtown encinitas for years and never thought to try it until this summer. It is unassuming on the outside but once you enter, you no longer hear the sound of traffic or people. The interior is beautiful and serene. The food is delicious and priced fairly. We ordered the pad thai and panang curry with thai tea. Everything tasted amazing. The service was friendly and fast.
Some of the best vegetarian Thai food I’ve had in a long time! We were visiting Legoland and went here which is the same as the one in San Diego. The SD one has 1.5K reviews and this one has fewer but the food and service is well worth 2K 5 stars. We tried the fried tofu and baby jackfruit in the protein and liked them both. Green curry was very flavorful. Also tried the spicy noodles, garlic pepper and cashew stir fries. We will be back soon!
Quaint smallish woodsie feel restaurant located in the heart of downtown Encinitas. Great stop for vegetarians along Hwy 101. Stop there to eat delicious Thai food and Boba Thai tea then meander to crystal shops, tequila bar, 420 biz, ROXY for music or even the beach down the street. They tend to be on spicy side but certainly will listen to your requests. They seem like a family running the place with smiles. My brother loves the fake duck. I enjoy the fried tofu as the protein.
The best Thai place to go specially for vegetarians. The flavor of everything is so unique and yummy. The freshness of the ingredients they use was clearly visible. We loved eating there so much that we went there again the next day while we were in San Diego. They have a branch in Downtown San Diego as well. But Encinitas was closer to us as we visited legoland.
Amazing vegetarian Thai food! I had the 'chicken' skewers, tangerine chicken, and pumpkin curry. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the curry was fragrant (I enjoy spice; I asked for an 8, but could have done a 9 or 9.5). The food is largely organic and non-gmo, and the tofu they use is local. I really enjoyed the veggie chicken, which has a fried 'real fried chicken quality'. I'm excited to return and try more things on the menu.
We love Plumeria and frequent there often! Every dish is delicious with the added benefit of being healthy. The staff is friendly and polite. You can sit outside to experience the downtown action or dine inside where the atmosphere is nice and updated. Highly recommend.
The food tasted really fresh. We ordered Flower cup, Pad see iw and Yellow Curry. Everything was really flavor full.
Great food and fantastic service! They were so nice and treated my son like a king. Will definitely be back.
Excellent vegan food. We liked it so much we went again the next day. Very nice service. Food arrives quickly. The brown rice was really good too. The heat level medium is 1. And it was spicy enough. You can add their hot chilli oil as needed. Would definitely go again.
Food is plenty. Don't have to worry about any meat made sauces. Pure vegetarian/vegan. Loved the food taste.
I came to Plumeria on the 101 on Christmas evening with three friends, and am still in shock it has taken me this long to visit! Plumeria is beautifully decorated, and has a very tranquil feel upon walking in from the busy 101. They also have a wonderful outdoor section if you do want to dine outside. The menu was fantastic, we took ages to decide on what we all wanted as there were SO many great options. I ended up choosing the jackfruit pumpkin curry, and a week later I still can’t stop thinking about how delicious this was! My friends all loved their meals, and we all were so impressed with how fresh and high quality the food was. Pricing was extremely fair for the quality and area. Service was excellent, it was very busy on Christmas evening with many people dining in and many people with takeaway orders, and the staff did not miss a beat. Staff were all friendly, explained the menu clearly, and the food all came out in great timing. After having walked past this place so many times, I can now honestly say it is one of my new Encinitas favorites, and I absolutely cannot wait to be back! If you having been or are considering a stop in, I cannot recommend a visit enough!
I am not a vegetarian, I eat meat. This place is VERY good. I got the panang curry and the wife got the Tom Kah. Curry was super flavorful, rice was cooked really well and the spice was just enough to feel but not enough to stick around. Tom Kah was also very good, I don't usually like Tom Kah but the lemongrass flavor was actually perfectly mixed with coconut broth to be just right. Will come back!
What a wonderful lunch spot! We sat outside and received pleasant, prompt service. What a delight that two vegetarians, a vegan and a celiac could share entrees! Everything was gluten free and delicious. Recommend: Tangerine ‘Chicken’ Vegetable Fried rice with crispy tofu Pumpkin Curry with jackfruit
I recently visited this adorable and chill restaurant, and it totally stole my heart! Our server, Bea, was absolutely amazing—so attentive and funny, she really made the experience special. I kicked things off with some Roasted Coconut tea and then tried the Spicy Ginger Tea, which was just incredible! For my meal, I went with the Somtom Authentic Clay Mantar, which is my all-time favorite Thai salad—it’s so refreshing! I also had the Spicy Basil Fried Rice; they stir-fry jasmine rice with garlic, bell peppers, carrots, onions, chili, and fresh basil, and I opted for the mock chicken to top it off. It was bursting with flavor and so tasty! To finish off my lunch on a sweet note, I enjoyed some Fried Banana drizzled with agave syrup and paired it with Thai coffee. Overall, I had a lovely time and left feeling super happy and satisfied! 🍽️🌟
Beyond great! Such a fantastic find. My vegan daughter was beyond thrilled! Even the non-vegetarians were totally pleased. Just excellent!
Food was very good and the combination of spices were well put together. We ordered the spicy basil and it was not too hot. If we wanted add more heat, we asked for extra sauce. The service was very quick too so we didn’t have to wait too long to be served. I appreciate the manager’s service very much as she was pleasant during our time dining.
We are vegetarian with NO 5 pungent vegetables (Buddha vegetarian). They can accommodate all this for us and varies selection to choose from. Easy street parking in historical Encinitas village. Very nice environment.
Wow!! Incredible food and fantastic service. We had the tuna flower cups, eggplant with mock duck, pumpkin curry with steamed tofu, and mango sticky rice. Absolutely delicious! My husband is not vegan or vegetarian but said this was the best Thai food he has ever had and we eat at Thai restaurants all the time. We will definitely be going back!
Our first time here, and it didn't disappoint!! Good vibe, fresh food. It became my new favorite restaurant. Will be back soon !! Everything was delicious and good service 😋
Wonderful food and service , we ate curbside in January and it was lovely.
Went to this place on a whim with a group of friends after going to the beach in Solana Beach nearby. Most of our group was vegetarian or vegan and wanted to try this place based on a recommendation from another friend. The menu is extensive and has so many options, and is all vegetarian and vegan friendly. We started off with hot sake and fresh spring rolls which were both delightfully refreshing and delicious. It was a colder winter evening in Encinitas, and we were sitting outside, so the hot sake was welcomed for the evening. From there, I was delighted to be able to order the duck pad Thai, which again is all vegetarian. It was absolutely delicious and I would for sure come back here again, and order the same thing, or maybe even branch out! The portions were excellent and I was able to take some leftovers home to have for lunch the next day, which is always an added bonus. We all very much enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend Plumeria vegetarian in Encinitas to anybody that is interested in either vegetarian food or Thai food, or in general just enjoys good food. Thank you very much Plumeria, I will be back again in the future!!!
Loved the house fried rice & drunken noodles. Husband ordered the vegan fried rice with the 3 beans which was also nice. The server was friendly and took our request for a less oily version of the house fried rice in to account. We also tried the fresh rolls which also were pretty tasty. The portion sizes were big enough to last as leftovers for another meal.
Great food, great owner. Everything is plant based and equally enjoyed by meat lovers. Only thing to be careful about is spice level. Base(0) spice is enough for me for most dishes. I prefer between 4 to 6 spice levels in most other restaurants. Love the food, atmosphere and service.

Love plumeria. The vegan duck green curry & spicy noodle were both delicious. The mango sticky rice here is the best I’ve been able to find. So fresh, and the sticky rice is warmed. Can’t wait to come back.

Favorite restaurant in the world! Such amazing, happy service. Incredible flavorful vegan food. The bubble teas are excellent to enjoy while eating. Perfect for a romantic experience. They sang happy birthday for my wife's birthday! For being top quality, it's also amazingly affordable. Enjoy!!!!
The best larb salad I have ever had! We split the crispy duck larb salad an it was full of mint, lime, brown rice powder, green onions and salad greens, and just the right amount of spice. We also split the spring rolls which were very generous and tasty with a nice peanut sauce and sweet chilli sauce for dipping. We had a nice outside seat and the sun was out and just enough shade to protect us. Service was fast and friendly..it was perfect!
Very good food and nice people. They were open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I ate there 3 times in 2 days. Perfect for vegans, don’t let vegetarian in the name confuse you, they are fully vegan. Toasted coconut tea in a pot is amazing!
Not even that big of a Thai food fan but Plumeria is seriously the best. Their green papaya salad, tom yum soup, and old school pad thai (with fried tofu) are perfect every time! Also, this location in Encinitas is so intimate and makes the food even more enjoyable.

My friend and I decided to share the Seaweed salad, at the price of $6.95 the portion was extremely small barely enough for one person - I suggest it could be on the appetizer menu not under the salads as a main course. The house special Zen soup was a generous portion and good flavors, Could have used some other vegetables besides carrots and beans. Service was friendly.
They had a lovely Christmas decoration. They were open on Christmas Eve and 25th Dec as well!!! Excellent food taste at Encinitas compared to the one in University Heights. We are a regular at the other branch. At first, we were extremely happy to know there is another one in Encinitas. But, we were not expecting the food to be unbearably spicy here (we ordered a Spicy Basil and a Cashewnut Entree with white rice (with a level 2 spiciness out of 5). However, we were able to manage the spice level they served. There is no way the kitchen would have taken it back. Maybe there was a misscommunication in the kitchen. It is in an excellent location at a walkable distance (probably 3 blocks from the beach). The other location restaurant space is more. Service is better at University Heights Plumeria, this one is comparitively newer, maybe it'll get better soon.
Fantastic Vegetarian/Vegan Thai Restaurant The Food : Amazing . One of the best I have tasted in recent past. The Spicy Noodle with Tofu and veggies + Pumpkin curry both were great The Pumpkin Curry comes with rice Overall nice experience . The ambience is good not great inside but the ambience around the place was good . The Service is average, They add an auto gratuity of 20%. It’s a bit expensive I would say.
Delicious vegetarian food. Every plate is full of flavors that you don't even miss the meat. My son loved the place and he doesn't like vegetables! Prices are reasonable as well as the portion size. The service is excellent. Highly recommend the fresh spring rolls and ANY hot tea, all of them are delicious!
We went for dinner just before they would have closed their kitchen. The fresh veggie rolls were delicious. This is a good place for vegetarians to visit in Encinitas.
Great little vegetarian place in the heart of Encinitas. You're kind of dining on the street (blocked off of course) but you're next to Roxy's and other places so it's all good. Decent food - nothing OMG. Fried tofu was a bit chewy but it's hard to make good tofu. It's all about Encinitas here.

The staff were very friendly with helping me find gluten free options on their menu (no GF label). Unfortunately I didn't understand that ordering the Pad See Iw gluten free meant no sauce at all so my dish was plain rice noodles with plain steamed veggies and veggie chicken. There was no sauce or seasoning on the dish. This was very disappointing. It would be helpful if the staff explained gluten free in that case meant no sauce instead of a modified sauce, in which case I think most people would opt for something else with flavor like the curry or a stir fry. I went with a large group and they were all satisfied with their meals except for the jackfruit as a protein option (it was soggy and tasted like it was straight out of a can with no seasoning).
Had a bad taste left in my mouth after eating here for the first time, and it wasn’t from the food. **TLDR: waiter will lie to you about what level of spicy they gave you and then tell you at the end. Very odd behavior. Wouldn’t eat there again. My husband and I were on vacation and for our last day decided to go check out this restaurant for a late lunch. Everything seemed pretty normal except for every interaction we had where the male waiter asked about anything spicy (so when we were asked if we wanted hot sauce, or the spice level of my dish..etc). My husband has Gerd(really bad heartburn condition) so he can’t do anything spicy. I on the other hand prefer my food a bit spicy. I don’t shy away from it that’s for sure. When asked the spice level I wanted my dish I responded and asked how they do it (like a 1-5 level or mild, med, hot?) so I could accurately convey what I want. He didn’t really answer and said “medium”? And I said “yep! Middle of the road is good.” We get our food and immediately I tell my husband to try mine and it shouldn’t bother him because it’s really not that spicy and proceeded to mention it a couple of times throughout eating. Waiter comes over and asks me how the spice level is.. I’m not one to really care enough about something like this so I tell him “it’s good” (because the food was actually good and did have some heat to it... just not what I would consider a medium level of spice.) At the end of our meal while he is getting ready to take our plates away he leans over and awkwardly smiles and says “oh I only made that a spicy level 1. Btw Haha” I’m a bit stunned by this interaction and reply “oh 😅, well it was really good.) Because what else do you say to that? What was the point of him doing that? I’m not sure. It was a very bizarre thing to do imo. If a customer asks for something and you try to trick them because you think they are lying about what they want.. is that normal? If we were locals to the area that interaction was enough that I’d never eat there again. I’ve never had such a weird interaction before or had a waiter do that before.
It's a cute restaurant and they have a friendly service! However, we ordered 2 of their most popular dishes on the menu and they were too sweet that we couldn't even eat them.I really wanted to like the food at this place .Disappointed. 2 star for food was generous actually bc I like their service.
