Honestly was just wandering and found this cute little dive. They have good music, decent food, billiards and darts. Pretty fun for a nice mellow night.

It's like Cheers, the television sitcom in the '80s... Everybody knows your name and it's like a family! I just love it... And the owners are amazing!

I dont go out very often, but when i do i always go to shorts. Its a great bar with great people and food. I always have a good time when i do go.

My go to place. Good home town vibes, friendly staff, cold beer and good food! Real chairs instead of backless stools so you dont fall off your chair plastered, and booths for more social/group engagements. Out door sheltered patio also.

The owner is extremely personable, he made us fresh cocktail sauce at the bar. They go the extra mile to make customers feel special. Take the time to meet the staff.

Haven't been to Shorts since I was 18. Young, fun crowd of college kids singing karaoke. Nice to the older crowd and made us feel welcome.

Great casual spot for food and drink. We regularly go for taco night Tuesdays and Wing night Thursdays. Food is always great and affordably priced.

Fairport's own little bar. Always a ton of people, karaoke, and their food is actually pretty good. They have specials on drinks and such almost every day.

Where the locals hang out. Great bar, great HH offerings, free popcorn, karaoke on the weekends, wall jukebox everyday, friendly patrons. 2 pool tables, 2 dart boards, foosball...or sit and chat with a friend. All good here!

Staff is fun and friendly, drinks are always satisfactory. And even if there's a drink they don't know how to make? They're happy to learn on the fly. Prices aren't bad, and the food has always been piping hot and fresh. What is something of a quaint environment becomes a hopping to-do in Fairport on the weekends, when karaoke starts. Met a lot of cool people and made a lot of good memories. And the bartenders interact with you like people. Just simple, old fashioned, friendly service with good drinks and food at a price that doesn't break the bank. Best place in Fairport!

This bar walks the line between an old school traditional bar and a dive (in the best way). Heavy wood bar with something between the coziness of a mountain cabin and the relaxed familiarity of your friend’s garage (that friend whose parents always had booze in an accessible cabinet in high school). There’s a bit of gruffness to it, but serving only as a vehicle to guileless sincerity. Definitely a lot of regulars here. But everyone was very welcoming on my first time there while in the area for work. Oh and before I forget, the classic burger is more than just another bar-food burger. It is quite good.

A great local bar with amazing staff. Ther cook serves up fresh food that keeps you full and at the same time gives you a unique take on "bar food". Like their grilled cheese burger is a great example. Everyone is super nice and sociable. Plenty of entertainment to be had with their pool, darts and music along side their patio right that didn't require you to leave the building. Definitely going back!

Good crowd of all ages, bartenders are fun, and food and drink prices are reasonable. They have dart boards and pool tables, and the night we went there was a karaoke DJ. We had a great time!

Wing special had a slight price increase, but the wings are now more than twice as meaty! Plus the wing specials start at 7pm right as happy hour ends so get there a bit early to grab a pitcher.

Can get pretty busy on the weekends, hard to maneuver through the bar sometimes. Not good for those who need personal space. Good wings and some good times with the karaoke available.

Great for karaoke but can get a bit crowded. They have two pool tables which makes it convenient if someone's already playing. One on an upper deck and one down on the 1st floor.

Not bad for a little towny bar. Pool, darts, pinball machine. Smoking area. Kitchen is open for most of the night. They had a few different beers on tap, more in bottles. Bartenders are pretty nice but there's typically only one working so if it gets busy then you'll be waiting for a drink for a bit.

Went for a birthday party last night... everyone was friendly. I've been here a few times and good service each time! They even have late night food that you order from the window in the back. 🍻 They have an outdoor seating and smoking area too.

Shorts isn't just a bar. It's an institution. Many area folks have ling memories of good times. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not and there is something for everyone. It was my original hangout when I moved here in 2008. And while there have been changes, the atmosphere and fun vibe are always the same.

I can’t say much about the food as I didn’t have any, but I had a lot of fun! My roommate took me out and we had drinks. My roommate did karaoke, and we played darts I obviously was drunk. The atmosphere was fun and I didn’t meet any disrespectful staff. Place was clean (which I’m always a fan of) Overall a really nice place to be! Definitely going there again!!

Fun place to go and have a drink with friends. Fairport in and of itself sometimes gets rowdy crowds but never any issue at shorts. Super nice bartenders. Kitchen could do with a proper cleaning/remodel.

Great bar, had a blast met some awesome people. There was karaoke and a really blended crowd and everybody we socialized with was super friendly. I definitely recommend checking this place out but I gave it 3 stars because they are crazy expensive. I had 2 drinks and it Costed me $25. I wouldn't be able to afford to make this a regular chill spot.

Total dive bar. Men's restroom is wallpapered in Play oy centerfolds from the 90s and 90s. Beer tasted like the tap lines were last cleaned around the same time.

Bartender was outstanding! Unfortunately the only good experience I had there. Karaoke horrible! Terrible sound and system. Picks and chooses who he wants to sing. Visiting from out of town. Will NEVER go there again.

all around mediocre food and atmosphere wouldn’t ever go again

I was denied entry because I'm under 25 with an out of state ID. I was told I couldn't get in even if the police could verify my ID. I even showed them multiple other forms of ID with a picture. A bunch of people from my high school graduating class were there for a reunion and I wasn't even drinking. My freaking jacket said fairport on it. Really disappointed that there is no flexibility on their policy because some people really do move out of state after college.

Slow service. If you want to come here, you will need to have a drink before you enter and bring a drink with you. You will wait forever and not get a drink from the slow bartenders.

This bat always seems to have fights! THe way they are handled is very unprofessional, the bouncers seem to like making people angry. They are very rude!

Usually fights break out, lots of dru use, your better off going to TJ's next door!!

The wait for the bartender was absolutely ridiculous, plus she only talked to the men. And then us women had flies in our drinks, so we returned them for bottled beer (corona) and the bartender absolutely refused to cut a lime for us for the beers. And i quote “I’m not cutting them a lime” At 8:30pm on a Friday. so we will absolutely not be back. While I am a bartender, I would never treat a PAYING/TIPPING GUEST the way she treated us. Steer clear.

Last night, we were treated with such incredible disrespect. We arrived first, followed by our group of friends, and one girl had turned 21 recently, so she still had a vertical license. The bouncers/man at the bar both informed us that they can only let her in if they get the police to come validate the ID. So, we respected the rule and actually did have the police come. The police came and said the ID was fine, and that the decision was ultimately up to the bar. At which point, the man at the bar simply said “Nah”. And sent all our friends away. Our group was completely sober upon arrival, and we were respectful the entire time. The issue is NOT with the rule about ‘no vertical IDs’. The issue is that the staff here felt this is an acceptable way to treat other human beings. Last night was extremely cold, and they kept this group on the sidewalk for 30 minutes waiting for a police officer. And then to also waste police resources if they never had ANY intention of ultimately letting them in anyway? I am dumbstruck about the entire series of events. I was inside the bar the whole time bc we were told our friends could get in once the ID was validated. The bar tender even held off on making my drink while I checked this with the bouncers. But then he proceeded to let us order drinks, knowing that at the end of all this, he wouldn’t let our friends in anyway. When I expressed how this was disrespectful and shady, he told me “I never said they’d get in after having the police come. I said they MIGHT get in”. Are you kidding me? They wouldn’t have called the police if that is what was told to us. And he knew full-well that we wouldn’t have ordered the drinks that we did if we knew they wouldn’t get in. All he had to say to me was “you can speak to the manager on Monday then’. I do hope the manager knows who he has hired and speaks to them about how to be decent human beings.

Really disappointed that a bar like this is associated with the quaint little Fairport village. Many of my friends were physically assaulted by the bouncers for what was all a miscommunication - the bouncers are VERY quick to use violent force against customers. It's a disgusting and deplorable place - BEWARE!

Bouncers absolutely 💯 NASTY, and rude. Mostly Steve on power trips with attitude towards everyone, but specifically elders and disabled. Actually was beyond disgusted and appalled to LITERAL tears from the way my husband was treated on account of a jerk bouncer that just didn't like me. Abuse, harassment, neglect doesn't begin to describe the events occurred. Police were even called and ZERO action was taken. Yet.

This has to be the most unsafe bar I’ve ever been to. The security guards are very negligent and do not care for anyone’s safety. if it wasn’t for the 1 star I would give it 0…AVOID THIS PLACE

My I.D. Had my birthday on it, 6/6/1997 and yet they denied my entrance and called me out individually. My I.D. Has been excepted for over a year by stores, gas stations and 1-3 bars. Don’t go here unless you have vertical I.D.

The bar is absolutely disgusting because of the bouncers who are on a power trip and management that does nothing about it. Horrible experience here I will never go back.

Absolute train wreck of a bar, for starters the environment was unsafe, the security on hand did not take active care of any situation in the evening and were found instigating brawls amongst other patrons, after powder keg events brought on by staff they had zero intention of helping out and stopping the altercation. Upon further attempted meeting with what was supposed to be a peaceful resolution the staff insulted and berated us with comments and jokes about the incident which goes to show the lack of safety concern in management, as well as having staff drinking throughout shifts (including on sight managers)

Will never spend another dollar at this establishment - and I strongly recommend other women don’t either. This bar is a complete joke. Certain employees act like they’re on some kind of power trip instead of doing their jobs. The way some of them talk to and treat women is disgusting and I absolutely felt violated. I’m familiar with the industry and always do my best to be a respectful customer & tip kindly as I know a bar full of drunk people can be tough to handle. However, I’ve been going out in the Rochester area for years and have never felt more violated or disrespected by staff of an establishment. There are so many better places to go in Rochester for karaoke where you’ll actually be respected and have a good time — Firehouse, Blue Wolf, Angry Goat — literally anywhere but here.

Bouncer was super creepy and hostile to me and my friend for literally no reason, he seemed to be drunk and was drinking out of a whole pitcher of beer while checking ids. Got in my friend’s face and blocked the door when we were leaving, super creepy. Really disappointing as locals, women beware

This experience is based on one staff member. Honestly don't know the name of the guy but there's a respectful way to let me know I can't have a disposable water bottle and there's snatching it out of my hand while I'm drinking it. I would have been more than willing to toss it and get water at the bar since I wasn't drinking alcohol anyway, especially since I walked right in without them telling me in the first place. Literally in plain sight. I can understand the other one star reviews. Holy hell is it overkill at a bar like this.

Incredibly rude staff. Walked in with our brother who had a leftover container and they asked us to leave because of it. We were right at the front door and had let them know that he was leaving. We were in the process of saying goodbye to him (as he was leaving per their ask) before they got hostile. We are locals and disappointed in this experience.

I have been to this bar many times visiting friends while in Fairport and always liked it. But, we went on New Years Eve and could tell something was off when we tried to order food. We chalked it up to the kitchen staff being overwhelmed on a holiday, but still ordered. Next thing I know, the girl next to me was kicked out and so was I — apparently because I was just standing next to her? I tried to ask what was going on/explain I was waiting for $60 worth of food I had just ordered. The male waiter yelled at me to leave and I again tried to ask what was going on. He gave me an unintelligible answer. Then the female kitchen staff came out and literally pushed me out of the building with her hands on me while I asked her to not touch me. Meanwhile my husband and best friend were upstairs at the pool table. I had NO IDEA what was going on. It was an unreal, unprofessional, and violating, experience — to the point that I feel I was purposefully just scammed for money. I’m reporting to the bar & police. I will never go back.
