Went bc my son is obsessed with RR crossings - if your kid likes trains/crossings definitely sit by the windows on the 2nd floor! We had the perfect view and trains came every ~10 minutes. Service was great, food was delicious! The fresh OJ was a treat and I loooved their French toast. Super eggy and actually reminded me of my grandmas. Will definitely be back again!
Went for the 1st time today to have our anniversary breakfast! The cannoli French toast was amazing! The pistachio pancakes were delicious 😋 . Generous portions! Friendly staff that came out with a sweet treat n candle and sang to us!!! So thoughtful. Jorge the owner came out to greet us at the end.. will Def be back! 👍👍
This is a great brunch place. I had freshly squeezed orange juice. I had the Ham, Fire Roasted Tomato, Chives, And Herb Mozzarella Cheese omelet but substituted the ham for sausage. It was great. The home fries were delicious. They had a bit of a kick. The service was great. I would definite recommend this restaurant for brunch.
Breakfast and service was excellent. Would recommend to anyone. Waitress was very attentive. Always had a full cup of coffee/tea. Meal came shortly after ordering and very enjoyable.
I have been looking for a comfortable , great atmosphere and great food place to have breakfast.. This place checked off all boxes! The food was delicious! The service beyond excellent. I have a feeling is a family owned and operated restaurant as it shows in the way you are treated and serve. Will definitely come back again!
Very homey place! The food was absolutely amazing. The hostess/server was very nice. Everything was freshly made. The biscuits are a must try. We had the grandmothers Benedict and lemon poppy seed pancakes both delicious. Looking forward to returning!
What a great place!! Delicious breakfasts and lunches! The staff is friendly and attentive. The owner Jorge walked around to each table to greet his patrons and I haven't seen that in a restaurant in a very long time. The atmosphere is homey and the decor has an old-time feel to it. I can't say enough!! This will be my new go-to for lunches and breakfasts. Beats any diner Hands down!!
My Grandmother’s Kitchen is such a warm and cozy place — it truly lives up to its name. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into your grandmother’s home. The décor is full of charm, with lovely quotes, old photos, and thoughtful details on the walls that create a nostalgic and comforting atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious! I especially loved the breakfast — everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can really tell the recipes come from the heart. The service was good as well; the staff was kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a slow morning or a comforting meal. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home and serves great food, this is definitely it. I highly recommend it!
This is the BEST brunch spot ever!!!! I am so recommending it to my family, friends and coworkers! Food: it’s beyond delicious! Everything is flavorful and tasty. Food, drinks, desserts. They have it all. Big portions. Service: all the staff goes ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure you have such an amazing time. Very friendly and attentive. Ambiance: it’s a very HOMEY feeling being there. It’s a two floor restaurant that feels very cozy once you are there. You are in front of the train tracks and it’s very decorated. My family and i love coming here. Def a kid friendly spot!!!!!! (We have 5 YO and 9 YO) and this is their weekly spot!!! 🙂 este lugar es fabuloso! Lo recomiendo a todos las personas que conozco. El servicio siempre fenomenal. La comida con un sazón súper riquísimo. El servicio muy amigable y servicial. Recomendado para adultos y niños.
Love the home like feel of this place. Very comforting while enjoying delicious breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The chef would even go ask everyone if they enjoyed their food which I respect that they care about their customer. I highly recommend this place. Will go back to try their Mangu.
I been here for breakfast 3x so far and every time has been superb! If you're going out to breakfast and want to impress somebody THIS IS THE PLACE!!! Quality, ambiance, presentation......this little eatery hits a home run! Update. I'm now up to over 10 visits and STILL the BEST breakfast/brunch/lunch spot around. Don't be fooled by it's humble exterior, the product they serve is top tier!
First time here. I'm impressed. The service was top notch. My wife got the fastest Capuchino in history and it was great. My unusual huevos rancheros were arguably the most flavorful I've ever had and I tend to order them if they're on the menu anywhere we go for breakfast. The birthday tribute for another table was off the chart good. Only complaints if I was forced to make them? The parking is rough and my wife's pancakes didn't need the bright green food coloring. This place rocks and we will be back!
Unique breakfast spot with classics done right. Since A Taste Of Home closed, I haven't found French toast quite as good. This place does it right! Like a bakery just made the bread! Warm soft and a crispier outside with flavor that will make you find room to fit it all. I expected maybe a couple of slices as their side to a meal, but they plated a full serving of french toast! Smiling waiter seemed really happy to be there and so was I.
Wow! What an awesome spot! We came here for a birthday breakfast and My Mother's Kitchen did not disappoint! Jorge the owner walked about and introduced himself to diners. It was such a nice and personal touch! We had the lobster omelet, buttermilk pancakes, Grandmother's eggs benedict and homefries. Everything was on point! If you like big servings, delicious home cooked food and wonderful atmosphere, than this is your place!
This place was super cute! Small ans quaint. They had a decent coffee menu and an interesting breakfast menu there were some eclectic items. My daughter got an omelette with ham and pineapple from the specials menu that she said was delicious. I got grandmother's eggs benedict which came with tomato and avocado.
The bacon was cooked perfectly, eggs were poached nicely, and the avocado was fresh. Potatoes are delish. The omelet was well stuffed. Overall, a nice meal. The place was pretty empty mid-morning on a Monday. Service could have been more attentive but the girls did come around with coffee during the meal. Plan to pay with cash for a nice discount!
We had never been to My Grandma's Kitchen in Farmingdale before. They provided lunch as well as breakfast. There is an upstairs as well as a charming dining space. The personnel was incredibly kind and amiable. The cuisine was superb. I began by drinking freshly squeezed cranberry and orange juice. We like the French toast and Grandma's egg benedict. There is a lot across the street that is free for a few hours, but parking is a little difficult.
This place has been here for about three years. The first time I visited, I was a little surprised that they only open till 3pm, Breakfast and lunch only, the dining area is oddly shaped, but it is clean, the service was excellent with a friendly and attentive staff. The food was pretty good. I had the Grandmother's eggs 🥚 Benedict, it was very good, we also had a sandwich 🥪 montecristo, it was good ,they also have freshly squeezed orange juice 😋 and other fresh juices. Will definitely return to try their lunch menu
UPDATED NOV 11. 2025: Sadly, have to downgrade my prior review of 5 stars. Within the past two months, (Oct - Nov 2025) the food and the service here have changed dramatically, not for the better. The two friendly servers who were here when we first began coming earlier this year are no longer here. Service is much, much slower, much less cheery, and it seems the kitchen has changed cooks. We've been twice in the past two months just to ensure we didn't hit them on a bad day the first time, but no, it seems that every day now is not good. Too bad, since we do breakfast out fairly often. On the first recent visit (Oct 14, 2025), the dishes took 23 minutes to reach the table after the order was placed. This was on a Tuesday at 8:55a and the first floor was virtually empty, so it wasn't as if the kitchen was overwhelmed. Most Long Island diners and breakfast places are order-to-table in 10 minutes, some even less. My Eggs Benedict yolks were poached to hard stage, making them dry and inedible, and the English muffin halves below the eggs were tough and overly chewy, as if they'd been kept around too long. "Special Breakfast Skillet" homefries were bland, as if they had forgotten to season them. The oranges for the freshly-squeezed orange juice apparently weren't ripe, so the juice had an edge, with no bright sweetness as it used to be here. Coffee was definitely not the same as it had been on prior visits, now bordering on bitter. Not sure whether the brand changed or the prep changed, but it was not good. The server never did follow-up once the dishes were served by the table assistant, only checking in after it was evident that we were finished. To her credit, she removed the Eggs Benedict from our check since I had eaten only a few bites of the dish. But it would have been nice if she had come back to the table in a timely manner, during the meal so I could have explained the situation, and enjoyed a full breakfast rather than just a few bites. For the most recent visit (Nov 11, 2025), the dishes took 27 minutes to arrive at the table after being ordered. Again, on a Tuesday, at 10:15a, with only three other tables being served on the first floor, and two upstairs, business was quite light. We had the same server as the prior visit, and while the table assistant was attentive on the coffee refills, the server herself was again not on top of things. For my order of 2 eggs with home fries and toast, the eggs were ordered over-medium, one was medium, the other was hard. Potatoes were fine, but the bacon clearly had an off-flavor. The coffee was again bordering on bitter. My other half's Banana French Toast looked beautiful, but the taste didn't match the looks, with both the strawberries and the bananas tasting bland. When you pay these prices (they've been raised since earlier in the year) you expect, and should receive, better quality than you'd be able to make at home. We found that used to be so here, but not anymore. We won't be returning since it's clear that this is the "new" M.O. and we don't find anything worth going back for now.
The worst food and experience I’ve ever had. Actually very scary. I usually never post. If I have a bad experience I usually just don’t return, but I had simply one of the worst experiences in my life today. I’m sharing in hopes that the owner pays attention and takes some accountability to what is happening in their operation. We are new to farmingdale and I strongly believe in supporting our community. My family and I arrived, was greeted not in the most welcoming manner and sat down. The first floor was an ice cube. We needed to leave our coat on because it was so cold. Every time the door opened , the blistering cold filled the first floor. It’s was miserable. Other tables including the manager was wearing their coats. We ordered an ice coffee and OJ. Ice coffee was so watered down my wife couldn’t drink it. The OJ tasted as if it was 1/2 water and 1/2 Juice. It was simply disgusting. Neither one of us drank our beverages. Didn’t touch them after the first sip. We tried to place our food orders with the managers, but refused and was told that she can only take our beverage order. We would need to wait for our server. Finally a server came over to take our order which was about 10min at least after being sat down. She was actually the most hospitable person we encountered. The so call manager who sat us and brought out beverages. Was out of touch and complacent to how this restaurant is being ran. Paid more attention to her cell phone than planting else. It was like they were okay or accepted sub quality product and services. Didn't seem like there was a clear direction on how this establishment should run. Food took at least 25 minute after our order was placed. Not extreme, but sitting in an ice cold dining room where we couldn’t enjoy basic beverage, made it seem like an eternity. Food was nicely plated, but was like warm at best. Ordered the rancheros and Dominican breakfast. Love the fact that they tried something cool that no ones else is doing in the neighborhood, but failed at the execution. Both were simply disgusting. Soon as I got home I literally vomited. That’s when I decided I just had to post my experience. Even at the end, when leaving, no one bothered to ask seeing that food was uneaten and beverages weren’t touch. Completely complacent and blind or just didn’t care enough to inquire or address what’s happening. We left a tip regardless because I understand what’s happening is not the servers fault. I do not plan on ever returning to your establishment. For the sake Of other customers and a successful business. I hope you dig deep inside and do the right thing.
