Really enjoy the meals here and the staff make you feel welcomed. Sashimi cuts are of quality and they do not skimp out on portions. Great experience all around every time.
Amazing customer service every time. The music they play here is FIRE always nostalgic hits from the 90s. Besides that the food is beautifully presented! AND delicious!!! And the rolls are HUGE. You really get what you pay for... and you can tell there is heart put into every bite. Amanda is an amazing server!
This place earns all five stars. They gave us hot towels to start and a sample of white fish appetizer on the house. The green tea is excellent. Overall sushi quality is exceptional. Tons of specialty rolls. Nice drink selection and some interesting Japanese sodas. Portions are a decent size too. We took leftovers with us.
I just tried this place and I think it's the best sushi in the area. The fish was very fresh and the sushi rolls were abundantly filled. The customer service was great. They were very friendly and accommodating and truly appreciated our business. Definitely recommending it to everyone I know!
When you first sit down, they give you hot towels to clean your hands. I have not ordered any sushi, so I can't comment on that. The pad Thai was well made. A little on the spicy side, but good nonetheless. Also had the hibachi dinner with chicken and scallops. Also well made. At the end of the meal they give you orange slices. The kids get excited for the little box of fruit gum they also give you when you get the check. The food here has been very good the three times I have dined here. Like eating home made food.
Shout out to Amanda. Amanda is the best. Yolanda too and the rest of the staff. Customer service is the heart of this establishment and Amanda does a wonderful job making you feel welcome and special. Come see for yourself. If customer service is the heart then their food is the soul. The food iis always fresh and delicious and plentiful. This place is Farmingville's best kept secret.
As usual this place always hits it out of the park. Great customer service and great food!! Typically get door dash now due to Covid, so slight differences do happen than in person (with all Sushi) We miss eating there in person. The owners are fantastic and make you feel like you are family. They go above and beyond.
Greeted by a staff of people who treated me like I've been a patron for years. Clean place, nice staff, great sushi. Will be back. 3 years later. Still love this place. Amanda is amazing and the food is ALWAYS delicious!
As someone who is obsessed with sushi I can say beyond any reasonable doubt this is the absolute best dining experience and sushi you could possibly have on Long island. The staff remembers you and is always warm and welcoming. The fish is always fresh and delicious. Not to forget they have easily the best miso soup I've ever had! I genuinely cannot recommend Sam's enough!
Been here a number of times with my husband and family. Great food!!!! So fresh♥️ My favorite go to for pad Thai!!! Miso soup is phenomenal! Always gets rid of my headache after a long day at work.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Food is amazing, Amanda (owner) is very catering, 10/10. A must try is the spicy squid appetizer. I get that every time it’s the best.
The sushi here is top notch and the service is very friendly. Even when they are busy they take the time to make sure everyone is being attended to. The Farmingville Roll is delicious along with all the other rolls we ordered. Would definitely recommend giving them a try, whether it is for date night or takeout.
We have been visiting Sam's Sushi Bistro since they first opened, and they have never disappointed! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is fresh and delicious. Even when ordering takout, there has never been a missing item. Highly recommend!
Amazingly amazing food! I was greeted with smiles. Underrated, a great place with good people! Edit: I have been coming here since 2019. This is by far the best sushi restaurant ever. I always have incredible dining experience at Sams! From the moment I walk in, the staff make me feel welcome with their warm and attentive service. The sushi was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish is a delight, and it was clear that great care and skill went into the preparation. If you're a sushi lover or just looking for a fantastic meal, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Absolute best sushi I have ever had in my life. The staff is always so vibrant and courteous, waiters/waitresses are on top of everything and the overwhelmingly delicious fresh food is prepared in lightning time. This restaurant deserves so much more recognition. I try to eat there as often as possible and you and your's definitely should too!
Best sushi around.. distinct difference from when we order elsewhere. The service is also incredible whether we’re picking up or dining in. Delivery is very fast which is also a plus :) We’re obsessed with the kimchi soup and the 2017 roll. You can’t beat Sam’s!
Outstanding sushi. Most of the special rolls are jumbo sized compared to other sushi places. Take out time is usually very prompt and the staff is always quick and friendly. An extra bonus to take out (dine in unconfirmed) is that they provide separate containers for all of the sauces. So if something sounds appealing but not the "special house mayo", no worries - it's on the side and you don't even have to request it. I've made a habit of coming back for more.
I hope this place is around forever. I can't get enough. My family from Los Angeles and Delaware both need Sam's when they're in town. Consistently delicious food and always excellent service from a lovely family. My whole family (even the ones who don't like fish at all) are in love. Thank you Sam's for being a wonderful, local gem!
This sushi and Asian spot in Farmingville is fantastic! The atmosphere is great with plenty of seating. The sushi is incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff is very friendly, and everything is clean and formal. It's an excellent date night spot for Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend to locals. The miso soup is amazing, and the dumplings are flavorful and well-prepared. The shrimp is perfectly cooked, and there's plenty of seafood. The prices are definitely worth it!
Our favorite sushi spot around. There's usually at least 5-7 of our friends group that come year every few months and it's always a fantastic experience! Great service and sushi!!
My husband and I just moved here from nyc. We tried this place after reading good reviews and were very pleased- the restaurant is clean, service is great, and the food was excellent. Everything tastes fresh and made to order. We loved the pineapple fried rice so much that we came back a day later. 😊 Forest roll & TNT roll highly recommended 😊 The restaurant also takes care in little details- hot wipes when you sit down, candle on the table, and an orange when your meal is over. I very much appreciate the little touches!
Had a craving for Sushi and came across this diamond place. The inside is beautiful, clean and the customer service is amazing. The food was simply heavenly will definitely come back!!! Well 3rd/4th time is a charm and indeed it is, this wonderful place is hands down the best Sushi place ever. The portion sizes are great, the food is clean and delicious, you truly get what you paid for. The customer service is great super sweet and friendly. This is officially my "Go To" spot for Sushi. If you haven't been there yet, RUN don't walk, you will not be disappointed.
Best place around for a quaint experience and best service. Amanda ensures this place is of the highest quality. Her service is second to none and she's a workhorse. She works hard, with a smile, and always makes her customers feel great. Thank you Amanda. Thank you Sam. Always a pleasure to come here.
Some people will probably not bother going here to eat or order take out based on the name but you need to look past that, the food has been excellent and has now become our new go to spot.
Always our first choice for sushi and Japanese takeout. Fairly priced and rolls are very good. Never eaten inside but have picked up food and looks very clean. Friendly staff
Literally the best Chinese food I've had so far in Suffolk County
Amanda is absolutely AMAZING!!! I HAD THE PERFECT LYCHEE MARTINI!
Wow! Just ate here with my boyfriend and I'm blown away. He's only been here once so far and they greeted him by name. On the way out they said to say hi to his friend who brought him in the first time. The service is excellent, friendly and very attentive but not intrusive. My water glass was never empty, which is a small win in my book. As for the sushi, yum! I'm a very picky eater, but we got the Sushi for Two and I tried all the fish on it - a first for me. All the sushi pieces were super fresh and delicious. And the rolls, wow! We got the Chris Roll and the New York Roll. Both were huge and so good. We didn't have room for dessert tonight, but I can't wait to try the Fruit Nina Roll next time!
At first it was an impulsive decision to eat here, as it was on the way from my usual commute. The pineapple seafood fried rice was absolutely phenomenal. Im Malaysian so I know pineapple fried rice, and when I say it's good, I mean it.. . Shrimp was perfectly cooked, plenty of seafood, all in all a perfect dish. I will be coming back soon to explore the rest of their menu. Highly recommend.
I saw a review in Newsday of newly opened Sam's Sushi Bistro. It mentioned it was opened for lunch. Our office, Emerald Magic Lawn Care, always has a sushi craving so we gave it a try. We were kindly welcomed and cared for throughout our lunch. The food was great. We loved the shrimp dumpling soup. Rolls were Top-notch. Lunch Bento boxes are a good value. We look forward to going back and have already done Take Out for office lunch. I will probably fo take out for dinner on the way home one night real soon too! Good Luck on the new restaurant. Keep up the good work!
Very very friendly and welcoming staff. Food is fresh and delicious. Definitely a neighborhood gem.
Best sushi I have ever had! The quality AND quantity was outstanding. Their sushi rolls are very large and the price is right for them! Service was equally outstanding! Staff is kind and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing and I enjoyed everything about dining here. This is my new favorite sushi spot!
I travel all over the country from Hawaii to New York and I can honestly say Sushi Sam's is the best I have had Nationwide. Amanda, Sam and their daughter make this a remarkable dining experience. The food is second to none and every time we visit from out of town we travel from wherever we are to have a meal at Sushi Sam's. Bravo to you guys for a job well done and consistently putting out amazing dining experiences. Will see you again soon!
I just started appreciating Sushi...BUT it has to be cooked LOL Don't know if I will be bold enough in the future to try others. My fav is the BFF roll...well it's the only one I've had here HA! I do see some others I want to try. And who doesn't love Miso soup. Wish I could make it at home. The woman in the front always happily greets you and I notice she remembers customers names. She hasn't learned mine yet but she recognizes me the few times I've been there. I brought a family friend visiting from Brazil here recently and he loved it!
From start to finish. Great service. Great food( always check out their black board specials). It is an excellent sit down Sushi restaurant.
I always come to Sam's Sushi Bistro when my office orders sushi for lunch. So delicious and such good prices. Amanda is so sweet and I always enjoy our short conversations at the front. Highly recommend !!
The best mai tai. Great sushi and excellent service
LUNCH SPECIALS M-FRI & SAT! They are closed in afternoon between 3pm - 4:30pm Monday thru Friday. Food is yummy, setting is clean and copy, and they are sweet and friendly. We wish We were on the walls in a picture, too. We'll ask next time.
Best sushi ive had in a long longgggg time. This place was phenomenal and the ladies inside were really sweet. 10/10 ♡
Wish I had photos of all the food we ordered but was too busy stuffing our faces. This place is beyond delicious. We will never go anywhere else in the area for this type of food. Fried rice is to die for!!! We brought our family for our next visit and everyone loved it too. We will all be back. Staff is so nice and attentive and Amanda is so great with kids and super friendly. Do not hesitate to try this place it may become your new go to spot. Enjoy!!!
Sam’s sushi is a hole in the wall little spot that I love and will continue to visit . Great food & staff
Outstanding food; more outstanding staff. Great and friendly atmosphere. Food is consistently amazing. Thank you so much!
Was here tonight for Valentine's Day and the food and service was good. The people who work here are very patient as a crazy lady screaming about 8 dollars and ***50*** cents disrupted everyone's meal, but the workers were super patient with her.
Took my son and grandkids here for lunch. Staff were nice and friendly, food was great and fresh. The grandkids (5&7) ate all their food and had more
AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! We come here so often and we are amazed by how welcoming staff make us feel every time we visit. The staff are some of the most friendly, hardworking and truly caring people anywhere and they trully go above and beyond each time to make your visit special. We spent Valentines Day here this year and despite being super busy, and dealing with some interesting visitors to say the least, they still managed to deliver the best sushi and the best service. 10/10 will come here again, and again.
Sam’s Sushi Bistro is the best. First of all, best sushi in town. It’s not super fancy but that’s what makes it special. Amanda knows everyone’s name- amazing memory. And if it’s your birthday, you get you picture on the wall. How sweet is that?! You need to get there!
We've had takeout from here, but not really had the chance to dine in until now. Lots of parking, nice and clean inside, and we were sat in a quiet corner. Lots to choose from on the menu, but we were looking for seafood and some good stir-fried veggies. We got the baby bok choy app, mixed veg app, shrimp dumpling soup, tuna avocado salad, the salmon teriyaki dinner, and the hamachi kama. Good thing my girlfriend eats a lot. Everything came out as they were ready, and I must say, the salmon teriyaki and hamachi kama were cooked to perfection. They had a wonderful seasoned crust, and were very tender inside, cooked just right. We liked getting takeout from here, but now we love dining in as well. We were tempted to get dessert because the fried bananas with ice cream was calling out to me, but we were so full. Maybe next time.
My daughters and I love coming here all the time for sushi! The staff is pleasant and quick to serve us, and the food is always delicious! We come here for almost every event we celebrate, and it’s never disappointing. I would definitely recommend coming here!
Was a great place to eat! My family and I had a good time. The hostess was very welcoming, despite being busy. Food was very good as well.
Sam is a sweetheart of a woman (so friendly) she takes great pride in the food she will serve you. Her husband is a head chef who I’m must say prepares fantastic sushi and to all who are concerned about price - your food will be well worth your night out - my best - a utility worker & former educator who likes to eat 2
We have been coming here since the day it opened and the food is always fresh and amazing. But what really makes it special is how welcome they make you feel and how appreciative they are for your business. That is so rare today. They always recognize you and thank you for coming! I have never had a bad meal here not once. Special suggestion ask about the Ninja Fruit Roll!!! IYKYK
We recently ordered takeout. * 40 * Specialty Rolls! My fav: Spicy Lobster Rolls & King Crab Rolls! I Recommend the Samurai Roll.Appetizers: try garlic soft shell crab, shrimp tempura & Lobster Rangoon. Sushi: try the Love Boat for Two! They have an AWEsome menu. They provided quick service as we ordered takeout ahead.
Lots of happy customer photos on the wall. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. I happened to be in the area and wanted a fresh, not greasy lunch. Sam’s had a ton of great reviews (always sort by Recent), so I decided to give it a try. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by a friendly, smiling hostess. Less than two minutes later I was greeted by a server. After perusing the extensive menu for a few minutes I settled on the Spicy Maki Combo, which comes with three spicy rolls, plus soup or salad for $20. The salad was okay… lots of boring, crunchy lettuce and the dressing was a a variation of your typical orange sushi restaurant dressing, but on the blander side. The sushi had a great taste and my tongue is still tingling as I write this review. Based on the entree quality and service I would definitely return when I’m in the area. Oh, and they have free WiFi and were nice enough to post the network info on the wall of the booth.
Just amazing Tonight we went to what is becoming my most favorite sushi place locally to my house. In farmingville there is a sushi restaurant called Sam sushi that's been talked about on this page more and more often. First let me start off by saying Amanda the owner is the sweetest woman you will ever meet in your entire life. If I'm correct on the relationship she is married to Sam. She greets each and every person personally and many by name. I was introduced to Sam sushi by my friend Joe Alessi . I figure if he recommends the sushi there it has to be good. He was right it is top quality. On to the food. We started with edamame. I forgot to take a picture but I'm sure you all understand what edamame is. If you don't it is soybeans still in their pod steamed with salt. They give you a generous portion. We ordered shumai which is steam dumpling with we request spicy mayo. I didn't eat those because I typically don't like shrimp but my family thought they were phenomenal. This is a personal decision by me not because anything is wrong with them. My wife ordered chicken and vegetable tempura. It typically comes with chicken tarot pumpkin sweet potato and broccoli. She asked them to sub out the tarot and the pumpkin for more sweet potato and broccoli and they happily obliged. My son ordered chicken katsu which is basically a fried chicken cutlet in panko bread crumbs. He really enjoys it. The portion is huge here and we took half of it home. My daughter ordered juicy dumplings which come out in the steam pot smoking hot. After letting them cool she said the flavor was out of this world. I regret I did not try them. I ordered a sushi dish called tekedon. It is sashimi tuna served on a bed of ice with rice on the side. The tuna is amazing quality and tastes so fresh. I was so happy with this choice tonight. In honor of my friend Joe I ordered a sayonara. A sayonara is a drink that he or his friend created. It was 50% Tito's and 50% plum wine. It is a light refreshing drink and very sweet. I can't say enough about this place and the owner. They are open for dine-in and take reservations on Friday and Saturday night. We didn't make reservations and they were able to get us in but many tables were marked reserved. There was one couple that was told 20 to 30 minutes for a table. I know they offer takeout and we have done that many times over covid. I am so happy that we have this place local to me and will be back many times. Don't mind the pictures of me my son didn't think I would post them so of course I have to.
This is a nice sushi and Asian spot in Farmingville, close to Stony Brook. It had great atmosphere and lots of seating inside. The Sushi was beyond amazing!! It tasted so fresh. Staff was very friendly and everything seemed very clean and quite formal. This is a really good date night spot for Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend to anyone in the local area.
Great place to eat! If sushi is on your list and you haven't been here, what are you waiting for? Service is professional and prompt. The food is amazing, either sushi or some of the great dishes you will not regret. Oh yea, let's not forget the Hibachi. They also sing for Birthdays and take a photo of the birthday person for the wall. I have done takeout as well, but I did not disappoint. They also give a great hot cleaning wipe for your hands. Fun place to eat.
Some of the best (if not THE best) sushi I've had in quite some time. Really awesome servers that didn't mind all my questions about their recommendations. It was my first time here, and it definitely won't be my last. I spent quite a good amount considering it was only me, but nothing felt overpriced. It's just because I couldn't stop ordering more food!!! I'll be bringing friends/family next time
Amazing food & amazing customer service!! Very traditional they give you a warm towel when you first walk in to wipe your hands. I had shrimp soup, duck roll, shrimp tempura roll and veggie rolls, all of it was amazing!!! I'm from Brooklyn where they have the best sushi (best food period) and their food is even better than any sushi restaurant I've ever went to any where and I've been eating sushi over 15 yrs. Your tastebuds will no regret going here!!
Walking in I did not expect such friendly service. I was treated with a smile and was seated quickly. I usually sitat the bar when I do my reviews. I like to see the chief in action. The chief welcomed me with a smile and after a few minutes, Started me off with a complimentary grilled tuna spicy salad. Usually when given a “ complimentary” appitizer I get worried. As in “is the fish old?” And are you trying to get rid of it. He assured me the fish was fresh and to my delight it was. You can tell by the texture along with the taste and smell.the chief was clean, wearing gloves and constantly cleaning his station he was knowledgeable when I was asking questions about the sushi. My main appitizer was there special. The posideon roll. More American then usual for my taste. But I had to give it a try. Shrimp tempura inside with avacado. And assorted fish and sauce on top. Now the sauce usually covers up the taste of the fish which is why I usually steer away from them. But it was a special. And my first time here. I can honestly say this is the first time I have had an “ American style “ roll that was not drenched in sauce. It was perfectly balanced and did not over take the fish flavor. Amazing, flavorful and delightful. I would order this again. My main course was the Sams sushi. Assorted sushi with 1 special roll. I picked the naurto roll as it is the only one on there special that’s not covered in sauce. There sushi was fresh and honestly was one of the freshest I have had in a while. Their rice was not overly vinigary and was not hard. Their rice was sublime. And lastly. There sushi tasted fresh. Nothing tasted old. I got some Ikura to see if there freshness was really up to par. And it was. I will be coming back not just for the amazing food. But the amazing service I received. Thank you staff and chief of sams sushi bistro. Update. It has been a few months and I must say. The quality and service is still as wonderful as ever. I highly recommend them for any new sushi adventurous people or for those who want to try a new place.
Small inside, we went for an early lunch. We brought our baby and he hung out in the stroller while we had a quick bite. I don't know if they have highchairs but there was enough space not to feel cramped even with the stroller set up next to the table. The service was quick and we never had to wonder where our server was (which can be annoying when you are ready to leave). We had the rainbow roll, a spicy tuna roll, spicy edamame (delicious) and my wife got a few different sashimi choices which she loved. Parking was smooth and there was no wait. We will definitely be back, might even become regulars!
Sam's Sushi has a lot of good reviews online and it's for good reason. I really like the food here, the staff is super friendly. It's hard to get a table sometimes due to the small size of the restaurant, but it's worth the wait. Would definitely recommend! And I'd suggest making a reservation if you're thinking about going.
Very good food. Huge menu, lots of unique options, along with the usual items on a sushi menu. Great service. They went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. Had some salmon and tuna sushi and sashimi, which was good and fresh. Had some duck roll bamboo style, which was delicious. Juicy dumplings were terrific. Drinks were good too.
Everyone is so incredibly nice when you walk in. The presentation of the food, quality and taste were very well executed. I have been to this establishment several times since my first visit 5 months ago. The interior is a little dated but to be honest the food is so incredible that it overshadows everything else. I highly recommend going here for your sushi needs.
The king crab roll is absolutely disgusting and flavorless. Bone dry meat, like chewing on a paper towel - tasteless. Had tons of shell in every roll I had. California roll was decent. Noodles were absolutely phenomenal, and the chicken teriyaki was great. But wow, my dinner was ruined off just how bad the king crab roll was. Could only eat 3 pieces before throwing it out. Girlfriend absolutely loved her food, will 100% be back to get entrees instead of sushi. Be warned.
Been coming here for a number of years. Everything was always good, but recently there have been a few declines. First, the prices have gone up significantly. Regular rolls that were $5.50 are now $7. There was always a discount of 15% for online orders, but now it's gone. Altogether, the price increase is over 42%. Roll quality went down too. My wife and I got special rolls for $13 or $14 reach. Before, they were very nice. But now the layer of rice is extremely thick, with very little fish/filling on the inside, and the layer of avocado on top is a millimeter thin. That's way too expensive for mostly rice. The owner is very nice and service is pretty quick. Not sure if things will improve. We'll try to find a different sushi place for now.
Thanks for joining me for another review! So I have ate at Sam's a few times not and I will say this: The food is good.....just.... good. This is not a bad thing but its far from GREAT food and I will explain why. Lets begin! When ordering rolls they give you very little wasabi. Its also the light and fluffy smooth wasabi with zero bite. Places do this to cut food cost and Sam's does the same thing. My attached pic is the amount you get with 3 rolls. When you order extra wasabi they will charge you $1. Once again I would be OK with this is it was a good quality wasabi, but its not. Also in there philly roll you will get a sliver of fish. Like a small sliver (see my attached pic). This to me is a big no no. Spicy tuna lacks spice and fish quality of most of there rolls are good and I would say average for a place to stay in business. The best thing I have ordered what the upgraded fried rice in there bento box. Thats not saying much....but good rice is hard to find so its worth noting. They have good reviews and most people will love this place...Im not most people. Thanks for the support and see you on the next review!
I'm sorry, this is not a $20-$30 place. I see reviewers coming in with reviews of $10-$20 meals. what'd you get, miso soup? A single special roll at this place is $30. One roll. That's fairly priced sushi? Am I getting uber fresh fish in the middle of the dessert? That is expensive sushi everywhere I've ever been and objectively not $20-$30 per meal.
Ginger dressing was good and the miso soup was fine. Got a few rolls and chicken tempura. Nothing was great. Hands down the worst beef negamaki I have ever had.
Walked in sat down. Stayed 10 minutes and had to leave. The lady at the front was so loud that my ears were ringing. She was so loud and rude while taking our order. We got up and left. Never again!
I don’t see how this place has 4.7 rating. The staff at this place were not kind. The taste of the food was very off. I was super disappointed. I don’t see myself returning. I make honest reviews based on my experiences.
HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Stole my Money & manager said she was too busy to fix their mistake. First and last time.
Very rude people I came in with one of my individuals from the home and they didn’t want to serve us. They kept giving her weird looks after we got the roll we just left. Very unwelcoming to the disabled community. How about you respect yourself and stop trying to act like you’re not rude. They need to shut this business down. It’s ran down and when drinks are made gloves aren’t worn they put the cherries in by hand.
If I could leave no stars I would. Eat here at your own risk. I got food poisoning.I live 5 minutes away. I went home right after. The food didn't agree with me. I get home call and speak to the manager Amanda. To let her know so no one else gets sick. She was very rude and says she doesn't believe me or that I was sick from her food. She says go to CityMD to get proof. I go to CityMD shortly after to get proof. They confirm it's food poisoning. I then go back to give it to her. She calls the cops saying im harassing her...Guess she didn't think I would get proof. Now I know why this place isn't 5 stars.
Terrible service. We were served by a Carioca woman who was super rude. I was trying to ask questions about a dish, but she simply ignored me impatiently. We ordered soft drinks, and she was chatting with a couple and an American woman. When I went to complain to the manager, she told me to be patient because the place was full. But the waitress was chatting with customers. 30 minutes after ordering, she arrived with the soft drinks, and surprisingly, the place wasn't full. Then she tried to be rude to the manager, and the manager remained silent. We were with a child with an injured leg, and she complained that we were rude when we went to order a drink. I didn't let her speak. I didn't understand, since I, as a customer, was asking questions about a dish and a drink. I don't recommend it to anyone! Terrible service.
