my absolute favorite place to eat when i visit my family in flagstaff, and it never fails to impress me. i am always blown away by the creativity and flavor profiles of each dish. the service is always excellent, while the location and ambiance (especially on the outdoor patio in midsummer) is second to none. my family and i went to brix to celebrate my birthday, and i couldn't think of a better place to have a special dinner if i tried—and this is coming from someone who lives in the foodie town of portland, oregon. we started with smoked elk tataki, bison meatballs, smoked asparagus, gözleme, and a cheese plate, all of which were fabulous. the elk, asparagus, and gözleme were the standouts for me, but i genuinely enjoyed all of the starter dishes. my parents shared the steak salad, which was not only gorgeous to photograph but filling and tasty; the steak was cooked perfectly at a medium rare. i had the malloreddus, which is very possibly my favorite pasta dish i've had at brix; that is saying a lot because i pretty consistently order a pasta dish when i visit. the lamb neck ragu, green chickpeas, and mint alongside the pasta created such a complex but harmonious dish, and even though by that point in the dinner i was absolutely stuffed, i kept eating because of how much i enjoyed it. lastly, i forgot to take pictures because i got too excited, but we also had the date cake, lemon sorbet, and crème brûlée, and everything was fabulous. i am a sucker for crème brûlée and this one really satisfied me. 10/10 no notes. my family and i could not eat close to everything we ordered, so the waiter very kindly offered to box everything up for us to have the next day. to say i'm excited for round two is an understatement. in conclusion, after all these years, eating at brix remains such a unique and fun dining experience. i can't wait to return.
One of my all time fav spots in Flag… Brix. Always sit in the bar…Rebecca is a great bartender, and watch the line do their thing. Started with papas bravas and smoked elk tataki. Wife ordered the mushroom-guanciale pasta and I got the K4 ribeye with bone marrow and wild muahrooms. This place never disappoints. A must stop when you are up here 🤙
This is a fantastic place! Each time we have come, the service and food have been the same consistently high caliber. Yesterday, our server, Matt, orchestrated the perfect cadence of food and drink delivery coupled with checking in on any needs. Last night, with pre-dinner drinks, we had a cheese board of three cheeses to snack on while we enjoyed our drinks. Once ordered, our meal courses were delivered allowing enough time to enjoy, but not allowing too long of time between to wait. I had the seasonal soup, a Poblano pepper/turnip soup.My wife had the Spring vegetable salad as a meal. It was plenty (except she did hit my plate a few times). I do want to mention that salad was unbalanced with too much carrot, but still delicious. I had the whole Branzino. It was cooked perfectly. Charred nicely on the outside giving the skin a great crunch, a juicy, tender interior and it was filled with a wild rice that was the perfect compliment. After all that, We were too stuffed for dessert. I will continue to return every time I visit Flagstaff. The pictures included here are from last night and last year.
Brix is an amazing restaurant. My Hubby and I have been going there since they opened 18 years ago. The food is so good, service amazing and sitting at the bar is our favorite place to eat! If you love wine you won’t be disappointed. Plus there’s tons of parking! We did rent the upstairs for a private party and loved every minute of it. The staff at Brix set it up beautifully and we had a terrific time.
My husband and I had dinner at Brix to try the food and check out the venue for our small wedding reception. The food is superb and the servers are wonderful. We had the housemade bread, the duck, the steak, the creme brulee, and the raspberry sorbet. The chef there is absolutely wonderful! My husband and I had never tried duck, but we can say with confidence that it is one of our favorite dishes here. We fell in love with the warm, charming atmosphere and we were so excited for our big day! The set up for our reception was seamless and so accommodating. We worked with Rebecca to figure out pricing and details about the menu and set up. She was so incredibly helpful and made the whole process more enjoyable than you would expect. We used the loft and it was so cozy beautiful. Our family and friends were so impressed with everything and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you again to everyone there for helping us create such wonderful memories!
Brix is my favorite restaurant in Arizona. Great ambience, romantic patio in the summer. I had my engagement dinner party here and my guests are still talking about the mouthwatering steak frites. The cheese and charcuterie boards are some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world, always excited to see what’s on the menu when we are in town. 10/10 recommend!!
By far, my favorite restaurant in Flagstaff. The food, the atmosphere, the staff, all top-notch! Don't overlook this wonderful gem!
The absolute best food in all of Flagstaff! Our server Fran alone is worth the five stars!
We’ve now been here a few times, each time better than the last. Fran is an excellent server, and the food is delicious. You won’t be disappointed.
Highly recommend! Ask for Fran…she is the best and most personable! Food is delicious and wine selection is exceptional.
Great food and service, a must visit when in Flagstaff. Fran is an outstanding server, we can’t recommend her enough!
Can’t say enough amazing things about this place!! The food, the drinks, the ambience is all spot on. Ask for Fran, what an absolute GEM!!!
What a great place. Food excellent. The service fantastic. Fran did an awesome job.
Our favorite restaurant in Flagstaff! Food, atmosphere and service outstanding!
Amazing patio. Well thought out menu.
Fran.
FRAN IS THE BEST!
Brix is the go to place for fine dining in Flagstaff. Eighteen years of excellence, forcing others in town to up their game. Amazing spaces inside and out. Whether it is a "special night" or you just deserve a great meal, this is the place.
The food was amazing, and the atmosphere is just perfect. I had great interactions with the employee Fran, who is very kind and helpful. I highly suggest everyone goes to Brix!
This restaurant is a jem in Flagstaff. The staff is charming and well informed, the food absolutely delicious and creative, and we discovered a beautifully tasty and complex Arizona wine. I highly recommend this restaurant!
If you're looking for a higher-end eating option, I'd definitely consider Brix. The staff are very nice and extremely competent, seemingly able to read my mind and appearing when I was ready to order or wanted another glass of wine. The food was beautifully presented and excellently prepared. The steak in the steak fritas was tender beyond expectation, and the farm chicken was wonderfully seasoned. My wife and I will definitely be visiting again!
Brix is easily my favorite place in town. Their wine list is top tier and very extensive, the environment is incredible, and they have some of the best service around. Fran takes excellent care of her guests. They are definitely on the higher end for restaurants in town, and their menu reflects that. The experience is worth every penny. Definitely worth checking out if you're visiting town. Locals love it!
From the greeting at the door till your last bite, the experience at Brix is extraordinary. Never met a friendlier or more attentive staff. The environment is clean and inviting. Now let's get to the food... Delicious, delicate flavors put together in a genius construction with artistic plating will blow your mind! The chefs at Brix are truly top notch. I can't say enough about how wonderful each experience there has been. But don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself!
This a place should have a Michelin star. All the food is procured and made in house. We had the charcuterie board with wonderful French cheeses. The scallops were on point and the pasta bolognese with its made on premises pasta was spectacular . The best part of the experience outside the food was our server Fran. Fran. If you are reading this. Brix is lucky to have you. Also. It’s worth waiting. You know what we mean. David and Bethany
Brunch at Brix was amazing!! Our server Monet was the best, so personable and always made sure we had exactly what we needed. Colleen on bar was a GENIUS. Those drinks were the best in town, thanks for everything!
I visited on a weekday and the front of the restaurant was empty so I had to wait for a host or staff person to greet me. I walked around near the outdoor area of the restaurant before a staff person noticed me. Once greeted I was promptly seated outside on the patio which is a nice garden space. Being outside there were quite a few flies and gnats that increased as I was being served food (a fly flew and got stuck in my glass of wine but it was promptly exchanged for another glass once I let the staff know). The menu is farm to table and you can definitely taste the freshness of the ingredients. I didn't enjoy the Caesar salad as the leaves were large and spilling off and out of the plate making it a little messy to eat. The bolognese was presented well and was very good. I did try the non alcoholic cocktail pomegranate lavender which was nearly flavorless but the red wine I chose was amazing. There is a parking lot at restaurant and street parking nearby
My husband was so excited to find this place for my birthday weekend, and after seeing the reviews I was too, but it was ultimately a lackluster experience. We were the first table there that evening, the service was pleasant, she shared the specials and brought us our drinks but didn’t go the extra mile of asking what brought us in that evening or asking if we would like any recommendations. As soon as other diners started coming in, we watched multiple servers bounce around to check on them several times, while we were left unattended. After the entree’s were delivered, they never came back to check on us to ask if we needed another cocktail or see if the meat was cooked to our specifications. I ordered the steak frites, medium rare. For $50 the steak portion was small, and it was overcooked to a medium/medium-well. Half the plate was fries and the other half was greens. After seeing the presentation of the bravas and the duck, I was underwhelmed. My husband ordered the duck, it was cooked well, he said the eggplant was the shining star of the dish though as the duck itself fell a little bland with flavor. I didn’t think it was worth staying to see how the dessert would play out. Overall, it was an ok meal, but was expecting a much better experience given the price point.
This place has a great reputation and we were excited for our visit. Brix offers a diverse menu. $40-$50+ priced entrees were expected. Sadly, we left disappointed. Our server was pleasant. However she appeared to be rushed. She shared specials and menu recommendations when prompted, but seemed to be focused on getting our order as quickly as possible. That may have been an indication of what was yet to come. Our entrees were delivered, and our server disappeared, we never saw her again. Our drinks remained unfilled, and two in our party had issues with our entrees that were never resolved. No one came to check on our satisfaction and we sat patiently waiting, empty glasses, two with half eaten entrees, until a different server seemed to take over the service. As we're waiting we overheard other servers outlining and suggesting dessert options. Our replacement server simply asked if there was anything else we wanted. By that point we had already decided that we would find dessert elsewhere. Everyone was pleasant, but the dinner was disappointing. Perhaps the wedding reception took the attention of the service staff that day, to our detriment.
We were looking forward to eating here given the fantastic reviews. When we arrived we were greeted and given a table right away. Our server was friendly and explained the menu and specials. The ambiance is minimalist modern industrial and clean. We expected the higher prices going in and are completely okay spending more for an enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately, we found the food and service here only okay. Sea scallop appetizer was $27 and consisted of 2 scallops. They were good, but not great. Branzino (European Sea Bass) entree with Spanish rice chorizo stuffing was also just okay. The plate was presented with just the stuffed fish and some arugula. Stuffing was crunchy and the fish itself was okay. Dessert was also just okay. Wine list is extensive and perhaps if you just wanted to enjoy an evening of tasting and a charcuterie board, the experience might be different. Overall, a nicely decorated, higher end restaurant with only okay food and service.
There was a time when Brix was my number 1 restaurant I had dined at in the United States versus restaurants from San Francisco to New York City. I had dined with Brix several times because the food was phenomenal, artistic and incomparable to its surroundings. I am under the impression that there is a different Chef or the Chef has lost passion. We ordered the duck entree, which had been ordered in 2021. The comparison of the presentation reveals it's lackluster artistic presence. The plate was a disaster with dry seasoning scattered all over the plate. The recommendation was to offer the duck medium, which is was well done and extremely gamey. When I arrived, I noticed that on a Friday, it seemed very slow at 7pm. In past times, the restaurant had a wait. This prompted me to order the burger in addition to the duck, because I did not trust the price points. I ordered the burger medium rare. This also was well done and the beef had grill fragments cooked with it. The creme brulee had a great presentation, but the ginger recipe produced a strong after taste that was too bold and contradicts the sweet and creamy expectation. The service was great and prompt. Unfortunately, Brix is no longer going to be a destination restaurant for me, and it really saddens me to see this. The heart of the restaurant will always be your executive chef. With all the improvements in the expansion and the ambience, the quality and artistry of the food has declined abruptly.
If you aren't in the family Brix doesn't want you. This is not a " friendly Neighborhood" eatery. Brix with its hit and miss menu and overall lackluster gastronomic experience is ultimately only there for the Owners personal dinners, their friends and events you and your party will never be welcome and your business isn't wanted or needed especially if you are disabled, they will go out of their way to let you know this if you are there to enjoy the happy hour selections and don't promptly order entrees .When you have been open for as long as Brix has and no one knows about it the signs are obvious. Just another pretentious Owners personal eatery that in the end should not be in operation or part of the community. The only redeeming quality of Brix is knowing the owner is loosing money trying to play "restaurateur".
I don’t normally write reviews but I wouldn’t recommend this place. I Ordered the steak frites ($60.00) and my filet came out cold and had no flavor . My friend ordered the $80.00 ribeye which was overcooked and not very good to the point he didn’t eat more than one bite and took it to go. On a side note my wife had the bolognese ($40 outrageous for pasta and meat sauce ) and she enjoyed it. Overall this place was beyond overpriced and I would not go back. I would go to Atria or fat olives instead.
