Enjoyable Sun afternoon in the bar. Josh, the bartender, was very nice and attentive. Cocktails were yummy. Food was plentiful and cooked to our asking... "spicy" edamame, garlic noodles, and The Wok (also spicy)
The garlic noodles were unlike any chow mitten noodles I've had before. They were Soo good! Also had kung poa chicken. It was very good. Atmosphere was nice, laid back. The restaurant itself is very nice, go check it out. (Oh, and we didn't have to wait to be seated.) This restaurant should not be overlooked!!
Hannah was an amazing server. We sat outside and she didn't forget about us. She had good suggestions and was very polite. Food was great with fresh ingredients.
The food was excellent, and I'd highly recommend the Dim Sum basket if you'd like a large, sharable appetizer sampler. Everything in it was great, and made fresh for the order. And I've seen negative reviews about the service here, but our service couldn't have been better. Our server (Angelina) was excellent!
Food was all delicious, especially the hot and sour soup! 3 of our group of 6 were celebrating birthdays, and they brought all 3 a piece of banana cream pie. Our waiter, Tyler, was great! One of our group has a seafood allergy, and he checked the ingredients of each item we ordered to make sure it was ok!
Service was extraordinary, we had a reservation and did not have to wait we were immediately seated, my friend had broken her ankle and they took her little cart and hid it away somewhere so it wasn't in the way and they were totally gracious and volunteered to take it, drinks were wonderful they have a amazing happy hour. I will say I had one of the five dishes that was cold but they made up for it by bringing us a fresh dish and it was very kind of them. The interior is very clean and peaceful relaxing it's nice great ambience.
My Bestie took me to to Fat's for my birthday! It's a beautiful restaurant! The services was outstanding; each staff member was so friendly & helpful! Their attitudes make the atmosphere 5 star! The food was excellent and served on platters perfect for sharing. My party had a dim sum basket, chicken chow mein and orange chicken! The orange chicken was the Best I've had! The restaurant gave me a slice of their famous Banana Cream Pie as a birthday treat! Fat's, Thank you for such a special place!
The server, Hannah, provided excellent service. Canton Fish and Chicken with Asparagus were exceptional...very tasty. Banana pie great!
First time here, beautiful restaurant, great service. The food was really good. Good selection, very fresh. Will be coming back.
Our favorite upscale Chinese cuisine in Sacramento area. This place never disappoints! Their Mongolian beef, honey walnut shrimp and crab cheese rangoons are to die for. Highly recommend this place.
I loved my first experience here. Friendly staff. Food was fresh, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Honey walnut chicken is sooooo good! I developed a shellfish allergy and I can't have my beloved honey walnut shrimp anymore. I was so delighted to find an alternative that is JUST as delicious. I can't wait to return.
Food was good but it seemed like our waitress was having a hard time; no smiles and not very friendly. Could have been a ha4d day so we tipped her good anyway
We all had a very good experiences always we came there.
Another successful date night shared with my amazing lady. We/she choose Fats for our date night and a celebratory dinner. Hadn't been there in quite a while, but the fairly full parking lot at a relatively early hour reminded us how popular Fats still is after all these years. We were also quickly reminded of the comfortable upscale atmosphere and attentiveness of the staff when we came through the door. We were immediately greeted and choose to sit at a high top on the bar area. Our server engaged with us promptly, provided the happy hour and regular menu and got our drink order. He returned pretty quickly with our drinks, giving us just enough time to make our dinner selections. The happy hour menu had a pretty good selection of appetizers, food and drinks at reasonable happy hour prices. The main menu is full of a wide variety of delicious Asian options. Over all our food, drinks, service and Fats atmosphere are top notch!
This was our first time there, but my wife and I wanted to try it out, since we always talked about it, but never had the chance. And I was truly impressed. The ambiance was very nice and serene, and not because there was a huge Buddha in the middle of the restaurant, but because it was not overly loud, the lighting was just right, and the service was great. The food was also great too. Most of our dishes were not salty and super yummy. The ribs we had were a bit salty and hard, but otherwise not too bad. The Thai Seafood bowl was yummy, as well as our other dishes. Wasn't too impressed with the wonton soup bowl though. I've had better. Prices were a bit high, but worth it. I highly recommend going here at least once if you are here in town. You definitely will not regret it.
Absolutely amazing place!! I have been to this restaurant many times, and each time my experience gets even better! The servers are well educated about their menu and drinks, the hostesses always make sure to greet every guest with a warm smile and a greeting. Takeout is always fast and easy! This restaurant is just beautiful and the atmosphere is unmatched. The food is just divine as well, my personal favorite entrees are the chicken chow mein and honey walnut prawns. Don’t even get me started on the starters- I could eat all of those for days. You can just tell everyone enjoys working here and management is great. 10/10 Recommend!
We went for my husband’s birthday with his family and our baby. I had made a reservation for 7 before we came and we were seated immediately and got a nice large, semi secluded table away from other diners which gave me relief in case our baby started crying, I didn’t want to disturb the other diners. Our server, Andrew I believe his name is, was super nice and very professional and welcoming. The food came out super fast but we never felt rushed. It was such a great experience!! And our server brought out a piece of banana cream pie for my husband :)
I never been to a dim sum restaurant, so I could not compare to any others. But this one was top-notch. We had the walnut chicken and the general chicken with the vegetable fried rice, it was so delicious the chicken was hot and crispy the fried rice was full of vegetables, and very flavorful, we got two alcoholic beverages, the dragon was very strong and well made. Definitely will be coming back again.
On April 21, 2023. I had a wonderful business meal with a friend and client at the Folsom location. The place was beautiful, clean, elegant and offered a menu of Asian fusion that was delightful. The server was completely tentative. The glasses were always full and more importantly, the food was made to order, I enjoyed it so much I ordered Chinese chicken salad to go to share with my wife. It is nice to know at the quality of service was equal and plentiful. I will be back and I highly recommend this restaurant for business or pleasure.
Great food! The raspberry lemon drop was the best cocktail I have ever had. Our food came out quick! Our reservation was for 5pm and we got to our car at 5:55 pm! I also love that Buddha! It's so cool to have this gem so close to home.
The head chef is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. They provided us with high quality food and dessert. Don’t get me started on Tyler! He is such a great server and carries himself with such great professionalism. I highly recommend this place for great food and great service! P.S. the garlic noodles have an immense amount of character and flavor!
We discovered Fats thanks to a helpful Uber driver and now make sure to visit everytime we're in the area! The food is excellent! My favorites have been the mushroom and green beans and the Thai Seafood Pot! The coconut red curry was sinful and addictive! The only complaint if I had to give one is that they keep the dining room a little too dark and it's hard to read the menu.
Love this place! We came for my son and fiancé’s engagement dinner. As soon as you walk in, you’ll be in awe. There’s a magnificent golden statue of Buddha and live palm trees in the center of the restaurant. The food is as delicious as the atmosphere. And the staff was very friendly. The cost of a family style dinner was also very affordable. Perfect for special occasions, date night, family night, girls night or just stopping in for delicious food.
Stopped for the famous Banana Cream Pie (whole pie) but added appetizer and lunch. Service was wonderful and was delicious. Will definitely be back
I picked up our 'to go' order and we enjoyed a delicious meal. Who ever cooked the broccoli beef did an excellent job. It's tender, and flavorful! We had garlic noodles, bao and, lumpia too! Of course, for dessert, their famous banana cream pie slices!.. The young man who greeted me and packed our order was friendly, efficient and thorough in making sure he packed any condiments or utensils we needed. Thank you !
The service, perfectly mixed drinks, fresh food this place rocks.
We love Fats, atmosphere is great...service can be great some days.
Love the bartenders. Good vibes. Great food. Great drinks. This is a happy hour perspective.
We had a wonderful experience! Andrew was an exceptional waiter — attentive, personable, and truly on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. He made the evening seamless. The food was fabulous across the board, and I especially appreciated that the menu clearly identifies which dishes are gluten free. That made ordering easy and stress-free, and there were plenty of delicious options to choose from. The only limited area was dessert for gluten-free guests, but honestly, I was so full from dinner that it didn’t even matter. Great service, great food, and thoughtful menu details — we’ll definitely be back.
We went here for new years eve dinner, the service was great, the food was really good, and the prices are not outrageous for what you're getting. Portions are generous as well. If you are gonna go out like this, I suppose this is one of the better choices you could make.
This was our first visit to Fats, truly, and honesty food was amazing and I really want to appreciate the server Hailey what an amazing service and a smile on the face ready to answer every question and amazing suggestions, I am definitely going to come back to this restaurant and looking forward to be served by her. To the management this girl definitely needs a raise
Great place for a date night! Highly recommend the sour watermelon margarita! Bartender (I think Skylar) was amazing! Very attentive and gave great recommendations. We will definitely be back!
The food was good. I used to always go to Fat’s in Roseville but decided to try the one in Folsom this time. We loved the food; the taste was awesome. My only complaint is that the rice was on the dry side. Also, if you plan to get to-go boxes, be aware that the food won’t taste as good and will dry out in a couple of hours. The ambiance was 10/10. Our server was okay—neither too good nor too bad, just very matter-of-fact. I appreciate smiles and warm welcomes, so maybe that's just me. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
The atmosphere was lovely. Open, light and spacious. We went for lunch and there wasn’t a wait early, but by the time we left there was a ten minute wait for tables. The server was polite and efficient and other staff were also attentive. We shared four dishes and they were all fantastic. Pork fried rice was good. The Szchuan Garden with shrimp was spicy and delicious. Cashew chicken was flavorful (the chicken is lightly breaded, so be sure to ask, if you have gluten intolerance) and the Kung Pao chicken was very flavorful with a nice kick! We will definitely eat there again. The price was a little high, but within range of any good restaurant these days.
Delicious edamame. The garlic soy sauce was drool-worthy. Wish there were more vegan-friendly options. I got the veggie fried rice without egg but would have loved a main course or other options. Beautiful restaurant. GREAT wait staff.
Love Fats. Try the happy hour.
Food was ok but not great. Service was mixed. Our waitress didn't tell us about the specials. We learned of them when she told a neighboring table about them. Not a repeat visit.
Friday dinner atmosphere was casual and calm. Our appetizer, orange chicken, and broccoli beef was excellent with flavor and served hot. Our bar drinks were underwhelming in presentation as doubles were served in stem glasses with straws. These were vodka tonics, not Shirley Temples.
Went to Fat's to celebrate a family birthday. As always, the serving staff was awesome. Kristina was again our server and was tremendous - made our experience that much better. Food was delicious. Had honey walnut prawns, pork fried rice, chicken chow mein & a spicy beef plate. After several visits, I have to say the fried rice is a little salty - this from someone who likes salt in everything. The honey walnut prawns were a little dry and not a large portion for the price. But, overall a great meal and experience. The only reason I can't give 5 stars, is the staff at the front. I was the first to arrive of our group. Not only did neither of the young ladies standing there acknowledge me, but even when after a few minutes I stepped into the dining area to see if others from my group was already there and went back to the waiting area, they still did not say a word to me. When another of our group arrived, he was not greeted or acknowledged either. As he approached the staff to request a table, they were so busy talking to each other they didn't even look up until he was right in front of them. Luckily, I don't think this is the norm for Fat's.
We did bar appetizers for Happy Hour. Pretty good - price decent - but seems quality of food has decreased. Saw kitchen staff members with elbows on unfolded napkins, one of them flicking pony tail over and over on napkins, followed by a staffer folding same napkins with dinnerware for next service. Kind of icky. Sunday afternoon. 🤷♀️ We used to visit weekdays so will try again.
WOW....great experience from the beginning to the end. Our server Andrew was excellent with service and recommendations. Dim Sum basket was a winner 🏆 The Filet of Beef Steak Kew was amazing, asparagus cooked to perfection. Orange Chicken was perfectly done. I decided to try the brown rice, I'll go white next time. Definitely going back to try more entrees!
Server ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Restroom cleanliness ⭐⭐ Food runner ⭐ (We had two food runners both young males, one was really nice the other was very rude) Asked for chopsticks he acknowledged our request and left to never return. Asked for the other half of our meal and he just stormed off never to return. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved my glass of fre chardonnay, however the drink my husband got from the bartender he didn't like at all.
Unfortunately, I was unimpressed with the food this visit. The shareable portion of KungPow chicken was 50% onions. To most, it might not be an issue, but the ingredient wasn't listed in the menu. After removing the onions, it was almost a single portion size. The garlic noodles didn't taste like garlic at all. In fact, neither myself nor my companion could ascertain what the predominant flavor was. Service and decor are above average. Maybe it was just bad night.
I had delivery from here once and felt like the food was a bit of a step up from Panda Express and pretty good as American versions of Chinese food. I decided to eat there with friends and was pretty disappointed with the food. All of my friends felt the same. No one wanted takeout and we left a lot of food. So one hit and one bad miss. Just not sure about a third try. Hard to know who is cooking.
We sat in the bar and ordered dinner and drinks. The food was good, but the drinks were poorly made. The bartender showed no interest in making the drinks correctly which made us think that they were not free poured. Just not the level of serviced we expect.
I have eaten at Fat's and their other restaurants many times over the years. It's a Sacramento institution. Then I moved to the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California which has changed my expectations of excellence in different Asian cuisines. The Honey Walnut Prawns are a personal favorite and were good. Although the portion size is now Supersized like McDonalds! The Dim Sum basket was really disappointing. After spending years among friends, neighbors and fabulous Asian food in the San Gabriel Valley, I'm now accustomed to smaller more delicate Dim Sum, not gargantuan greasy blobs that take 3 to 4 bites to finish. The Emperor's Garden vegetables were overcooked and limp instead of bright with a little snap and I didn't find any chilies. Banana pie...always delicious.
We have been a fan of Fats Folsom for years, but was a little disappointed in the food last night. Have always ordered the Walnut Prawns - one of our favorites, but the prawns were smaller shrimp, less batter, much fewer walnuts and the sauce was bland. Cashew chicken had the same problem. Smaller portions for higher prices. The only savior is their Mai Tai. Otherwise, not sure if we will be back.
Just a typical Asian American restaurant with “interesting”decor that target non-Asian diners.
Is was mostly good. But the 80% of everything is onions. You will have a plate full of onions. Hope you like onions. Service was good. I wouldn't come back. I read people saying panda express is better. They are somewhat right about that depends on what you order.
Came for happy hour: best were the cocktails and calamari: worst were the too salty chicken wings. Kind of an interesting place: has a NOLA Fat Tuesday vibe with PF Chang's decor and Panda Express food (we found it too sweet or salty). On Tuesdays, they have lower prices for entrees. Big shout out to Ean who provided excellent customer service. he was on it.
Ordered steak q Always been a favorite. Was a take out. Brought it home- so incredibly salty I couldn’t eat it!!! Called management and expressed my experience- he said “sorry, next time you’re here, we will make sure it all goes well for you “. Thanks- but I wish he would have made it right May not be back
This review is for the food only. No reviews for service as this was take out. I used to really love this place. When it first opened it had some of the best Asian food I had had in a while. Their imperial pork fried rice was amazing and their chow mein was different and just very flavorful. I'm not sure what has happened, but over the years the food standards have declined greatly. I ordered takeout a couple days ago and the amount of salt on EVERYTHING was just too much to handle. The intricate flavors were lost and instead replaced with salt. It's unfortunate and I probably won't be returning for a very long time. I want to give this place another chance, but it will be difficult. Please bring back the old recipes and cooking styles as the rice was the best I have ever had.
So we show up around 5:30. Order drinks. Costs have gone up. Food was good but no white rice. No substitutes. Oh and the drinks came with the dinner. Waitress was very nice. Imagine a Chinese restaurant without white rice. Oh the garlic noodles never showed up
Entrees do not come with rice and it has to be purchased separately. Online ordering it was not apparent that it didn’t come with rice and I got home to realize I spent $50 on piles of meat. There wasn’t even a way for me to place an order for just rice to go back and get it.
Just went here for dinner. Our server was so nice and so were the hostesses. Beautiful restaurant. However, the food was not good. The coconut shrimp was OK… but the chow mein was like an under cooked, under seasoned cup of noodles.. and the orange chicken was just bland. very disappointed.
We had dinner here about 5 years ago and the food was pretty good from what I remembered. Very disappointing. We had a reservation and we were seated for a good 10 minutes before anyone came over to greet us and even offer us water. We had to wave the waiter down. Food came out quickly but it says on the menu each plate was made to order. Whats is most important is the food and none of it was hot. Most tasted as though it had been reheated. $178.00 later I would have to say it was poor. Birthday dinner gone bad. No wonder the old Sacramento fats closed. We won’t be back.
Food quality and taste is below average and the tables/menu is extremely unsanitary. You can scratch the oily layer off the table. Will not go back.
Went on a Sunday night- worse service ever. Had to actually yell to get waitress attention for water. Hot/Sour soup was cold on one side and super salty on other. Waitress took back and said she would deduct it from bill but she didn’t. Rest ( steak Kew/walnut shrimp)was ok but not up to their regular quality.
We were eating dinner on valentines day, I met one lady first time in my life , there were a lot to talk about, and in that restaurant was one manager probably he take care about business and he made our waitress twice to end up our dinner offering us check make sure we leave asap cause he tried to serve more guests, I still feel not welcome to that restaurant or maybe because I am European have strong accent even after 30 years living in California
Our server was very pleasant and did an excellent job to wait on us. We got the vegetarian eggrolls which were light and fresh and tasty. That was the best thing we ate. We ordered the Mushu pork which was rather salty, and chicken chow mein with a thin noodle, but the chicken that was in it was certainly not worth the extra four dollars. I don’t even think a total a half a cup of chicken bits that was in it. We were digging through the mound of noodles to try and find the chicken. The vegetables were scant, noodles were dry and slightly sweet. Maybe we’re just not ordering the right things but I’m glad we had a gift card.
If you’re in the Folsom area and looking for good Asian food, do not come here. The atmosphere, ambiance is great but the food was worst than Panda Express. The crunchy stir fried noodles that we got was super salty, the noodles were definitely not crunchy. We also tried their wonton noodles, let’s just say my cup of noodles in my pantry was much tastier. It was just so bland and they had way more meat in the soup than there should have been. The meat was not good. Overall the dish was just not good at all. The Dim Sum basket, no flavors. Why is everything here so bland. My husband who is a pretty easier eat and can eat anything also thinks this plus is worst than Panda Express. Great service but đỗ definitely a no no.
We have been coming here for years. The food has always been good. But now every time we come the portions get smaller. We just left the restaurant and there was four of us. The portions were for 2 people . We order 4 different foods and we all went away hungry. We probably won't go back. The prices have all gone up which we don't mind but this is ridiculous on portions.
Took my husband to Fats for his birthday dinner. We had the worst service tonight. We’ve been coming here for over 10 years. We sat on the patio of course due to Covid. Wasn’t that busy. Our waitress didn’t tell us her name and did not make us feel welcome. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Took a good 20minutes for appetizer to come out. Once our food came we didn’t ever see our waitress again. Then another waitress came to give us more water. No one check on us or ask if we needed anything. Just felt like we were a bother, not a good vibe at all. Sadly we won’t be coming back for awhile.
Unfortunately, we had eaten at this place we had tasted the hot and sour soup, it tasted nothing like hot and sour soup. The rice we had was overcooked. The beef was super chewy. The chairs we sat on were broken and the bathroom doorknob was broken.
I sat at the bar tables and ordered food to go. When I got home, there was no dressing with the Chinese chicken salad which was a real let down when my family was expecting a great meal. Oh well, maybe I’ll give them another try if I run out of other options.
Over priced bland food. And the server of our party of five was even worse. Save your money an$ go to Panda Express!
I don't like to write bad reviews but tonight really took the cake. Took my family out for dinner to this establishment cause the family wanted to eat here. Worst decision in months. To be honest....I have eaten at smaller class Chinese restaurants that had better service and food that this establishment can offer here. They could care less of how much you wait for your food to eat and after you eat. After eating we asked for to go boxes, 15 minutes later still no to go box but our waiter was next to our table and was just talking away with another patron. I decided to go to the front desk and ask for a to go box and was given it in 1 minute. My bill was almost $200 and don't mind one bit of how much it cost. I was so tempted to leave ZERO tip but I did not so I left a $40 dollar tip even though the service was unacceptable. If you want to eat Chinese food go elsewhere. Food and service is not the best. Never again and I will for sure tell my friends of our experience here so they know what not to expect through this establishment. Worst place you can eat for sure.
Great food really good drinks , come over a few times for lunch and dinner but today I got really disappointed wanted to plan my wife’s birthday for next Saturday and the waitress girl asked me to wait to talk to the manager. I wait about 20 minutes until I find out the manager was the other girl walking around and did not have time to talk to me so they asked me to come back another day to make the reservation really disappointing that they don’t have 2 or 3 minutes to talk to me about the reservation for a party of 25 to 30 people….. thank you for your help. You just lost a customer.
Made a dinner reservation for 7:30, but our table was ready 20 minutes late - when we were brought to our table, the table was not ready and was covered in dirty dishes and food all over the seats and floor surrounding it. Had to stand there while they quickly "cleaned" it. Ordered, food came out in literal moments, there is no way it is made fresh to each order - our appetizer was cold, portions were downright rude, all of the food was bland. We decided to not be haters and give the dessert a chance, they brought us a badly burnt black creme brulee. We got sick that night, both of us puked. We called in because of this, saying we wanted some sort of reimbursement if possible because we were willing to ignore the terrible experience but us getting sick definitely warranted some sort of credit. They offered me $50 gift card for the $100+ dinner I paid for, I insisted that we were given something more than that considering I vomited everything up. They very graciously gave me two $50 gift cards instead! New Years Eve came, we wanted to use the gift cards and give them a 2nd chance. We called in trying to place an order, we were told they were too busy to take orders and to call back at 7pm. We called back early around 6:30pm just to be safe, and were told they were closing their kitchen and not taking anymore orders. Someone else quickly came to the phone and offered to take our order regardless. Said they'd call us back when the food was getting made so they could give us a pick-up time! I was there at the pick-up time exactly, the food was sitting in bags already made, it had been sitting. We rushed home, and every single thing we were given was just absolute garbage. The chicken was amazingly soggy and bland, the mushu pork was extremely tough and sinewy, the chow fun was aight, but the beef was also oddly bicarbed, so it was fake-tender, just soaked in baking soda. My banana cream pie looked rotten and brown, the cheesecake was alright I guess. We didn't puke this time. Hands-down the worst dining AND to-go experiences we have ever had in our entire lives. I could not fathom going here again willingly, I grew up my entire life thinking fat's was super fancy and high quality, so this being my first time going, I had at least remotely higher expectations than Panda Express at least, but honestly you could get better food there than here. I'm sure when there are certain cooks/employees working there is some nice fresh food getting put out, but it's not worth the gamble. This place genuinely sucks, and I'm not saying that out of spite, I'm just truly taken aback by how bad this all was through and through.
Small table for 4 we ordered 4 plates and there is absolutely no space to put the foods down and the plates are literally plastic for a restaurant with this caliber.. in Folsom.. foods is a hair better than Panda Express..! This is from a retired head chef from San Francisco..! Will not recommend this to anyone ..!
Service was great. Went on a Sunday recently. Food quality is comparable to fast food at a hefty price. Ordered 2 dishes, I ordered white rice, mom ordered the veggie fried rice, 2 hot teas for $77 dollars and change. Will never eat there again!!!
I would NOT recommend ordering To Go. I ordered a kids Teriyaki Beef meal and a kids Veggie Chow Mein meal. There were multiple problems with the order. (See pictures) 1) the Teriyaki Beef kids meal is supposed to come with steamed rice and i did not get any rice. 2) the Teriyaki Beef had a bunch of water in the container. 3) the Veggie Chow Mein had pieces of chicken all throughout.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Dirty dishes on the table for use. As you can see in the pictures, there was 2 grains of rice on it. When I lifted the bottom, a few rice was smeared on the table. When I asked for new plates , they didn’t even clean it. The egg rolls were brought out and it was cold in temperature. I told the waiter and he got fresh ones made. The manager came to my table to apologize and I informed and showed him pictures of the table and plates, he did nothing to clean it either. So beware when you dine in. Check your dishes, glasses, silverware for cleanliness. I don’t recommend this location. Try El Dorado Hills.
