Opinions de Vanessa's Dumpling House Forest Hills
I’ve ordered from here a handful of times and the food has consistently been delicious ! The service is also fast and very friendly :) They have vegan options that are flavorful and well throughout. I’ve had the veggie sesame sandwich, the tofu sesame sandwich, the veggie steamed bun, the boiled vegan beef dumplings and the fried mushroom & spinach dumplings. I would recommend all those and if you’re an omnivore definitely try the other items 😋
My first visit to this restaurant (10/8/23). I have to say I was nicely surprised. I had a lunch special (teriyaki chicken w/rice), vegetable friend dumplings and cucumber salad. EVERYTHING was delicious. Service was great too.
We have been ordering from Vanessa’s Dumpling House from Chinatown for many years and were ecstatic to see that we opened up another location much closer to us here in Queens! We immediately ordered takeout to support them and we plan to dine there in person one of these days as well :-) We compared the dumplings we usually get from the Chinatown location and the Fried Chicken and Basil dumplings tasted exactly the same: super juicy, fresh ingredients, and the sauce is still just as addicting and flavorful! We are so glad that they opened a branch in Queens and we highly recommend trying them out! Best dumplings in NYC.
They have multiple locations across the city and all of them have great dumplings. I had the pan friend pork and chive and omg they were so good. Location is super cute as well and lots of street parking. The prices are decent as well. Id highly recommend
I was a fan of Vanessa Dumpling when I lived in the city and nice to see them expanding to Forest Hills. Great addition to the neighborhood for quick bite/snack, with clean and spacious seating. And super friendly staff! They have all the classic Beijing style dumplings, sesame bread, and noodles. Spoke to the manager Richard and he said it’s still soft opening now (just opened last week) and they are testing some different dishes in addition to their classics such as teriyaki to see what’s resonating with the neighborhood. Check it out and support! March 2023
Loved the sesame peanut cold noodles. They were firm and chewy and the peanut sauce was flavorful. The pan fried dumplings are always great. Really like this location its not too busy and workers are friendly.
I loveeeee this place, way better than the Williamsburg location, there was no one and the food was great.

I love this place for a cheap and quick bite! Dumplings, noodles, and sesame pancakes are all great. They also have a number of vegetarian options.
Really good and love that they have so many vegetarian options. The pancake sandwich always tastes fresh and delicious. I haven’t been to the original location but the dumplings are way better than anything around this neighborhood, that’s facts. Bao buns and soup dumplings coming soon…can’t wait! The best part, it’s so freaking cheap!!!
Great little place, very casual with some dine-in tables. Tasty food, not greasy, seasoned perfectly, not drenched in sugary sauces etc. Ingredients taste fresh. Delicious dumplings. Good amount of vegan choices, too.
A welcome edition to Forest Hills. Though it's a smallish store front, there is always available seating, at least when I've been there. The dumplings are delicious, as well as the pancake sandwiches. I recently tried the cold peanut noodles and that was good too! Prices are reasonable and I always enjoy going there.
Great sesame pockets. Amazing soups and especially the dumplings. So many choices!! I would love to have the buns again. Shrimp is coming soon, which will make a much needed addition to the menu.

Very pleasing and well maintained atmosphere. The dumplings are so superior to any others in the area. The chicken with basil dumplings, either pan fried or boiled are well worth it. The chicken and shrimp won tons in spicy sauce are pan seared with the perfect amount of chili oil. The Peking duck sesame sandwich is moist with crispy skin. The shrimp dumplings and the pork dumplings are also stand outs. They have vegetarian options too
Small, cute place: couple tables and a stool seating bar top. There's a self-ordering kiosk. It wasn't quite busy but steady customers. Food presentation is good, but not the tastiest I've had. However, the drinks are amazingand refreshing.
Table a bit dirty but the staff cleaned it once I told him, foods are good overall. Except the tea with milk which I ordered, just like drinking diluted milk.

I came here for their soft grand opening, and ordered a few items from their menu to go. A lot of items on the menu isn't available just yet. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Pork & Cabbage Dumplings, hot and sour soup and vegetable dumplings. The flavors in the Dan Dan noodles was so rich and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The dumplings was very juicy ! (Note: they charge extras for hot chili oil for the dumplings) keep that in mind! Most dumplings spots do give it out free of charge so this was very surprising for me. I will return next time for their fried pork buns that wasn't available just of yet during their soft grand opening!
I ordered takeout dumplings and they were fairly good. I liked the spicy topping with the onions but I do wish it was a dip on the side so I could spread it as I wished. I felt like the flavor overpowered the flavor of actual dumpling a bit. But it was actually still crispy once it reached my house and one of the better pan fried dumplings I’ve had. I would recommend trying it out.

First of all, the person up front taking our order was extremely rude and acted like we didn’t exist. Second, when we asked him if we order through him or the kiosk he simply ignored us and nodded his head in the direction of the kiosk. That alone put a sour taste in our mouth but we weren’t going to leave and optimistically hoped that the food would change our view of this establishment. The dumplings were mediocre at best. Flavors were there however the fried portion of the dumplings left a massive pool of oil at the bottom which didn’t sit well with me. The steamed dumplings had water at the bottom which made it seem like they put no effort into making the dishes look appetizing. Overall, I would not recommend going here but if you decide to, maybe takeout is a better option.

Been going to the Vanessa’s on Eldridge street in Chinatown for over 20 years now. Was ecstatic to hear they were opening across the street from my home. Unfortunately the food is not the same. The fried dumplings are not nearly as crispy as the ones in Chinatown. Pretty sure this is because they using frozen dumplings. I tried the boiled dumplings as well. Not only do they not taste as good but it’s clear those not fresh either. The scallion pancakes are great and as good as they are in Chinatown but the fried and boiled pork dumplings are not. Sadly I will have to travel back to Chinatown if I want to get my Vanessa’s dumpling fix because this definitely isn’t it

I really wanted to like this place. Walking in, the decor immediately sets a warm, inviting tone—charming lights, cozy seating, and a vibe that says “we care.” Unfortunately, that care didn’t make it into the food. I ordered takeout and was met with underseasoned Dan Dan noodle dishes and an overall lack of flavor. Everything tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp a bit too long. The portion sizes were fair, but when the taste misses the mark this badly, it hardly matters. The staff were polite and friendly, and the space itself is actually quite lovely—if they put half as much effort into the kitchen as they did the decor, this place could really shine. Until then, I’ll be admiring it from the sidewalk on my way to somewhere else.
Ordered two orders of Sheng Jian Bao: Pan-fried pork buns (生煎包) $4/each with some other dishes. Went to pick up and were told it was never on the menu. Have me two orders of fried dumpling 锅贴 $8/each. Never coming back, scam place. Also food is meh. Lots of dumpling places near forest hills. Look elsewhere!
