This place is a hidden gem. I came during lunch and sat down at the counter. Sitting at the counter is going to hibachi but its bbq meats. The portions where priced reasonable for the portion size. I got the deluxe barbecue beef and baked beans and they where both really good.
I had to work at an event at Alarm Max and they had it catered by Georgia Pig. The pork and chicken were delicious smokey and not dry, the sauce was outstanding not over bearing. The macaroni salad was the best I have ever had in fact 2 helping of it alone with their outstanding banana pudding!!! I wish I lived closer.
Quaint local landmark with a proud tradition of hospitality and good food. A source of comfort food and comfort to return to when welcomed back each visit.
Absolutely fantastic! George Pig in Fort Lauderdale is hands down one of the best barbecue spots around. The food was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the prices were surprisingly affordable for how good everything was. I’ll definitely be coming back — highly recommend to anyone craving great BBQ at a great price!
Great food at a really good price. The server was more than helpful in finding something I’d like and telling me a bit about the restaurant. The bbq is not smoked in the traditional sense. Rather it is cooked over a wood fire and gets its Smokey flavor from that. Either way it is delicious and I will be back.
Tried and true community staple even after the change of original management/owners. Have been going to G.P. for almost 20 years, while a vegetarian and now as a carnivore, it doesn't disappoint. Same smokey goodness, same tenderness, same delicious flavor, same quality service. Keep it up GP, you'll be sure to last another 70 years in the community! My favorite is the brisket and daily meal specials. The sauces are also so complementary to the smoked meats.
I love this place, my first time here was in 2018 and I was driving back home after a meeting and drove by this place and of course It worth the u turn The atmosphere is charming and cozy, the time stopped several years ago The wedge salad is one of the best I’ve ever tried, ordered the brisket plate and with this can eat 2 persons for $30 bucks The server was a little bit upset but then a very kind gentleman explained to me that they just closed the kitchen and also the restaurant was already closed but I can stay there and enjoy my food (that was amazing) I was a little bit ashamed because of that, otherwise knowing that were about to close I would never walked in BTW I went for the ribs and were sold out, so I’ll be back to give a try soon (and in regular hours)
Service: greeted to a warm welcome and service was pretty quick given how packed the restaurant was. Food: ordered a few items and each of them were pretty good, their pork was delicious and I would recommend it as a must try. Atmosphere: this place has tons of character, small, low ceilings but absolutely humming with hungry patrons. Price: $5-15. Really cheap for a BBQ place, very refreshing change of pace from usually overpriced and underwhelming BBQ that’s all around South Florida. Overall: 8.4/10
Open pit grill. Meat had a nice char. Service was great. Prices good. Greens could use more flavor. Brunswick stew was good with some of their homemade mustard BBQ sauce in it. The fries were crisp and unsweet tea spot on. Te chocolate cream pie was delicious. They have lots of pie flavors to choose from
This place has been serving the best authentic barbecue around since the 1950s. It's not one of your trendy barbecue spots it doesn't have gimmicks it has amazing barbecue beef pork and chicken and specials everyday. The fried chicken on Fridays is worth going alone. But wait you should try a slice of one of the many different pies they offer as well. It's small and sometimes they run out of things if you wait too long but that just means you need to get there early and get your spot and get your food.
Great food and nice flavor, pork was juicy and the bread was soft. The service was also great, the place was almost empty when o got there but got busy by the time I was leaving. According to our server lunch time is busy every day, but dinner time is a hit or miss. One important thing to know is that they don't accept credit or debit cards a minor inconvenience if you like BBQ pork. You can see the pork being cooked right in front of you if you sit by the bar. It is a small place with a very mom and pap business atmosphere. They also open very early every day so you can enjoy a nice breakfast if you don't want to visit for lunch time, will definitely come back to try something else.

Since 1953- I love going to long- standing establishments. The owner & waitress make you feel like you're at home. I loved the barbecue chicken, delicious sides & homemade desserts including chocolate cream pie, pecan pie & banana pudding. Very close to the Hard Rock casino & hotel. This is a must-try!
I have been going to the Georgia pig for the past 50 years and the quality has always been top-notch! The service is fantastic. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the food is out of this world! I drive all the way from Pompano Beach just to eat there, I recommend this place to anyone who wants good barbecue
The best BBQ in Broward County hands down.
Great place for a quick, delicious meal! My son says they have the best spaghetti ever! The staff was nice and in good spirits. Been around forever, solid food, small business definitely worth your time to stop.
Had breakfast here with a buddy of mine the egg special with grits toast and I also ordered a side of sausage and potatoes. It was very good for breakfast fare. The grits could be more creamy as it was clumpy but I still enjoyed it. The potatoes were good. The sausage I liked full of flavor and they hand made the patty. Had a slight amount of kick which I enjoyed. Definitely will be back to try lunch.
Easily the best bbq place i have ever tried.
One of the better BBQ restaurants in South Florida. Ribs,Garlic bread, fries and coleslaw are the real deal. Younger waitress is a hot firecracker 🧨 The TouchTunes box looks like an old collectable. Plenty of parking in the rear.
True authentic place. Maybe the best in the area.
Old Florida Southern décor The barbecue Pork sandwiches have not changed since the doors opened they stick to The same recipes and stylelse from the day they opened to present time Excellent breakfast excellent lunch and excellent dinners fried chicken on Fridays with banana pudding can't go wrong
It’s been a week and I am STILL thinking about the food I ate here. It is SOOO good. I’m from out of town and needed to cater food for a bachelorette party, and I could not be more happy with my decision to order from here. We had ribs, bbq chicken, mac and cheese and the three bean salad. Everything was FANTASTIC! The three bean salad is delicious. The ribs slid right off the bone and the chicken was so moist. The Mac and cheese was so flavorful. Everything was perfect and Robert was so helpful in telling us the right proportions to order for our party size and what dishes paired well together. I think I need another trip to Fort Lauderdale just so I can have Georgia Pig BBQ again. High recommend to anyone looking for the best barbecue food around!!!
Great BBQ...nice people. Pork cooked just right.
This review is overdue! They did their thing for me! During a lunch rush, they made 15 smothered pork chops, applesauce and mashed potatoes for the homeless for me during a lunch rush! They were very accommodating and helpful for me to get the food out that day! I’m so grateful to them providing a helping hand in prep for passing it out!
This place was stablished in 1953, I think we hit a gem today. Food was good, employees were friendly and attentive. They have daily specials if you are on a budget but the prices are descent not to break your budget. The service was fast and the food came out on time. They have a home made BBQ sauce which it was good and the only one they have. We were hoping to have more choices or different varieties for BBQ sauces to put on the meats. Everything else was good, will be back soon.
I absolutely love this family owned barbecue restaurant that has been around in Fort Lauderdale since 1953. If you haven’t tried the George pig, you are missing out.
I came here for breakfast here this morning and the biscuits and gravy were great! The service was very fast, inside had plenty of seating for how small it is, and the environment is exactly what you want from a bbq place. I'll be back to try the bbq soon! I didn't catch her name, but my server was great and running the whole place like a pro!
Georgia Pig BBQ is a hidden gem that transports you back in time. The atmosphere is nostalgic, and the food is top-notch. Their chopped pork sandwich, paired with the tangy mustard-based sauce, is a must-try. Sides like coleslaw and potato salad are homemade and delicious. Don't miss out on their homemade pies for dessert. A true taste of Southern comfort in South Florida.
Never disappoints. Great food, staff and prices.
The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was both delicious and easy on the wallet. My family and I truly felt at home from the moment we walked in. I’m already looking forward to coming back, especially to try the barbecue chicken they sold out of! That alone tells me it’s a crowd favorite. Can’t wait to give it a try next time!
Food is always good sometimes a service can be off and it was really smoky in throat today. Got a headache, but the food outstanding
This place is a south florida staple. you don't stay in business over 70 years by having bad food or service. walking inside is like walking back in time. As always the food is awesome.
The food was very good, We stopped in after going to the junkyard.
The service was great the food was exceptionally good and affordable. Me and my family felt really welcome. I will definitely be coming back especially to try the barbecue chicken that they sold out of. So that tells me it's the best seller. Excited to try on my next visit.
I used to run a Pawnshop that was 150ft up the road. I would close at lunch to go to the Pig for BBQ. The minute you walk in you are hit with delicious smells of southern BBQ. I had my first bowl of Brunswick Stew here. Virtually unchanged since it opened in 1957, it reeks of it's authenticity. I wish I still lived closer, so I could eat here every day.

Feb 2023: exceptional as always. 2 meat combo with ribs and sliced pork is absolutely amazing and sit at the counter to see the pit master do his magic Original review: the bbq pork is amazing. Just a perfect hint of smoke and melt in your mouth. Get the bbq sliced or chopped pork platter with fries and collard greens, sit at the counter, strike up a conversation and join the brotherhood of bbq lovers! Attentive service at the counter.
What do you get when you have a Georgia pig and an undisputed pitmaster. The survey says.. Georgia Pig BBQ & Restaurant. I passed this place many times when I visit South Florida, located north of 595 on 441. I have a theory, and that is if you're selling BBQ and there's no fresh plumes of smoke rising from your chimney then you're eating previously cooked and stored BBQ.... Maybe even from the day before. Not at Georgia Pig BBQ & Restaurant. On this particular day, I'm leaving an appointment from TRC. I'm driving up 441, with my windows down, and I'm hungry enough to eat a pig. Well a lo and behold I smell fresh meat on the grill. I look up from the traffic signal at the intersection where I'm stopped and I see smoke bellowing from a chimney. It's Georgia Pig BBQ & Restaurant. I pull into the restaurants parking lot, to the back lot and I see why the aroma of something sensational going on feels the air. There is fresh wood being processed for the grill inside. Once inside a friendly face welcomes me and I'm allowed to sit where I please. As soon as I'm seated, my Rockstar of a waitress meets me and immediately takes my beverage order. When she returns, I place my order which is filled and delivered within minutes. My food is fresh, piping hot and is at the ready to please my pallet. I am not disappointed! I can arguably suggest that this is one of the best BBQ restaurants in South Florida AND there's indoor table seating in the comfort of an air conditioned, stress-free environment. Not only do I highly recommend, but I will definitely be back to sample more of the succulent items on the menu. Oh, one last thing here, the quality and quantity of the food.. I'll just say it's unbelievably affordable. So bring the family and dig in! Please LIKE if this helps you and / or FOLLOW so I can continue to share.
I have been coming here religiously since I was a kid. I love the breakfast and I love that lunch and dinner food. You can’t go wrong with Georgia pig here in Fort Lauderdale.
Some of you may notice a trend in my restaurant choices. I really like BBQ and I really like sushi, and I'm very interested in finding the tastiest offerings of each. And I love finding them close to home. I was literally drawn to the Georgia Pig because of the smell of smoke and meat as I drove by. I wasn't able to find it initially and asked some of my friends if they knew where this purveyor of meats could be found. Apparently, it was right around the corner from Ft Lauderdale Archers and had been there forever, so we decided to pay them a visit. You could easily drive past it as I had done previously, but with guidance from my friends, made it in to the full car park. This was further reflected when we went inside, as all the tables and booths were in use. We weren't the only ones looking for delicious BBQ in an old fashioned environment. We were seated soon after though and placed our orders. The staff was friendly and the food came quickly, and was amazing. I ordered the chopped beef sandwich, and other members of the crew had the pulled pork sandwiches, another had the sliced pork, and another the pulled pork platter. The sandwiches came with fries and a creamy cole slaw, and the platters additionally had crisp, buttery garlic bread. Everyone was thoroughly pleased with the delicious, huge meals. Some of us even left space for the chocolate pie, which was thick, creamy and satisfying. And we all left filled to the brim. And so were our pockets, as the meals were relatively inexpensive. We will definitely be heading there in the near future for more smoky goodness. If you plan to visit, be advised that it is a Cash Only establish, so have some bills on hand.
First time here. Honestly, I would say the best place locally for that good home cook meal. I heard about this from a friend and was interested to see what the hype was about. Atmosphere is that at home feel. Small seating area so get there early. Food was perfect. I ordered my eggs over medium with hash browns. I split an order of biscuits and gravy and immediately fell in love! AMAZINGGGG foooooooood!
The first thing you think is "hole in the wall" despite being a stand alone building and business. But that's the Georgia Pig, and that's the way it's appeared for the 50-plus years I can recall seeing it as a Broward County establishment. Amazingly, though, and despite being a lover of BBQ and living in its vicinity all my life, I had never got there until my Friday 9/23 visit. Oh what I've missed! The small dining room is rather rudimentary, showing its age, but cozy and friendly for that all the same. Wait staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. They didn't have to recommend much, as I and my friend already knew what we were going to have: BBQ beef and pork, and plenty of it, with crinkle fries and a sweet/savory coleslaw alongside and some toasted bread to mop up with after. But oh, the main event! Smoked beef and pork, thinly sliced, moist and flavorful with a savory, tangy and peppery sauce lightly applied (with more available on the side, thank you very much, and a more traditional sweet and smoky one too) to enhance things wonderfully. Loved those combined on the fries, too. This was absolutely what BBQ in general and the Georgia Pig in particular are all about, and I certainly found myself questioning why I had taken so long to visit. No scrimping on the dessert, either; as unprepossessing in presentation as everything else, the banana pudding gets it all right exactly where it should just like everything else at this delightful establishment - by being tremendously tasty where and how it should. I have no idea why it took me over 50 years to get to the Georgia Pig, but I can tell you this much: It won't take anything like that long to return to this little Broward County landmark!
Update on latest visit for lunch on August 7, 2016. Great lunch yesterday. Chopped Pork BBQ Sandwiches are the best. Add slaw and fries for $3.00. This is a great deal. Please see the pics. Previous visit: I had a great breakfast today. I had no idea this was a breakfast joint. This is my first time there. Bacon is extra crispy. Love that. My server was awesome. I will be back next Saturday. Thanks for the great food and service.
Stopped to eat here while visiting. Still the same great restaurant that I came to with my Mother when I lived in fort lauderdale, back in the 70's. Quaint, good food, nice music and good service. Stop by and try it.
Very prompt, friendly service, the bbq is amazing. We had the combination plate, beef and pork, it was so tender and flavorful. Macaroni salad for a side and a piece of warm cornbread with softened butter to top it with. Fries were perfectly cooked, light, crispy, and with lots of moistness, not the overcooked greasy fries so common elsewhere. It is a South Carolina bbq sauce so mustard based, but really good. When I'm visiting Ft. Lauderdale again I will definitely visit Georgia Pig again. Note, cash only, no credit or debit. A real gem of fantastic bbq and great care and love put in to the food. Super friendly and helpful staff, very reasonable prices, you can't go wrong......unless you are a vegetarian.
A friend of ours Mike Ivy took us to your place while we were down from North Carolina. The food was amazing and the service was awesome! We will definitely be back. We had chopped BBQ sandwiches with slaw, fries, Mac n cheese and cornbread! Would love to know what you put in your cornbread! Best cornbread I ever had! The slaw was also the best I ever had! We will definitely be back! Thank You! Larry Wright
Nice people. Very accommodating. The food is always good. Quick to serve. I drove 45 minutes just for their Chopped Pork Sandwiches, and it was worth it! Ohhhh, they're so good! Make sure you order two! Next time my dad comes up to my house, we're going to trek over to Georgia Pig for those sandwiches, for sure!

Great flavor & great prices. Super good service. Great taste. I highly recommend this place. I want to come for breakfast now
We ordered delivery and it was great service!! BBQ beef was very good as well. Will order again.
Outstanding food, flavor, service, atmosphere I'm not a fan of BBG, but LOVE Georgia Pig! Check it out y'all! !
Holy bleep good home town bbq amazing food if you don't like this bbq you obviously don't like bbq . Only complaint they don't take credit cards cash $$$ only awesome food cool atmosphere and nice …
My BF has been here a couple of times while working in the area. I decided to try this place while in town with him. I had the beef BBQ platter. Everything was delicious. Cole slaw was really good. We love supporting small local ma&pa restaurants. This place takes you back in time, feels like your leaving all your stress behind once you walk thru the door.
Went for a late lunch, as soon we opened the car door we could smell the smoke, which was amazing. We ordered two platters, one pork and one beef, both served with fries, bread and coleslaw. Plenty of meat with a sauce. Our waitress was excellent and we was served quickly. The place had an old time road smoke house feel to it. Very pleasant all round. Plenty of parking around the back.
Sliced pork was awesome, tender and nice smoke flavor. Spare ribs were awfully dry - no amount of sauce could rescue them. Come slaw and collard greens were very good.
Very delicious, smoked bbq sandwiches! If you like Georgia Mustard BBQ you will really like the sauce. I had the chopped Pork sandwich...one of the best I've eaten in Florida. They are cash only, but not very expensive. I'd be a regular if I lived closer. Only downside was the sides were ok, not great that I had (fries, coleslaw).

This restaurant is hard to rate, in the sense that you have to compare it to others. In a world where everyone tries to be bigger, brighter, contactless, Georgia Pig doesn't, and it's perfectly fine. I mean, their checks are handwritten. They keep it simple and old school. It doesn't have a screen where you can order without human interaction, but if the smoky flavor of the firewood bbq doesn't drag you in, you may need to check if you have a pulse. The food is fabulous, hearty and tender. Everything I tried was really good. Not a huge variety of drinks, their iced tea is great, not too sweet. They advertise being open since 1953, which is awesome, now I think some minor upgrades to the infrastructure (so it doesn't feel like it's been untouched since then) would be great IMO. The bathroom is outside and very small, which I don't mind and it maintains the character, but maybe the sink should not be held up by a 2 x 4, it's my point. Service was fast and everyone was nice and friendly, looking forward to my next visit.

This seems to be a local spot. The bar b q taste had the charcoal smell and taste like no other I have had before!

If you are looking for authentic southern style BBQ, this is a must eat place for it. The food is amazing delicious and the staffs very responsive, quick and very friendly. The place is small but very cozy. I highly recommend fried chicken platter and combination of pork and beef BBQ platter. The portions of size are very large and the prices are very affordable. Their Fried chicken is way much better than I had when I was in Savannah, GA. I met the one of the owner and he is very friendly and he appreciated the customers. If you are in the Fort Lauderdale area, this is a place to visit. We were happened to passed by during our bike touring to Key West and I absolutely love this place. FYI, they only accept cash.
Weekday lunch Parking around back was easy Low key homey place Someone quickly cleared a table for me which was really nice Got a drink then ordered a plate Beef & pork with coleslaw & Mac salad Food was pretty good Not the best I have ever had Service was so-so No one ever came back until the bill
This place has been around for over 50 years! BBQ sandwiches are excellent! Busy during lunch hour but worth the pit stop😎

It was just alright. The pork sandwich was good, the Mac n cheese was good, and the coleslaw was probably the best part about the experience, but the BBQ sauce was very disappointing, unless you like the consistency of tasteless water 😏

We've been here several times. The food is good and the service could be better. Looks like they only have one waitress. The last time we went, my sons food was cold.
I visited this location and ordered pick up. Both times the experience with the food suffered. When I went in,the server was delightful, she aided me in ordering a pulled pork sandwich which came with fries and coleslaw. Aside from that I ordered cornbread and a lemonade. The lemonade was fresh, cornbread was nice and flaky, coleslaw was magnificent. Pulled pork sandwich which the server claimed they were famous for lacking in flavor. I honestly couldn't understand how that was there famous sandwich. The atmosphere however was very pleasant, you can see the cooks cutting food nearby which I thought was a nice touch and the location was packed. Over a week later I had friends over so I decided to give the place a chance. We order BBQ ribs. My friends claimed to have enjoyed the food but neither of them finished their meals and my ribs were very chewy. We all enjoyed the sides which were coleslaw, fries and macaroni and cheese. However it seems that at least in my experience the sides of this BBQ place taste better than the meat products. Don't plan on returning here after two misses with the food quality. Shame
The food was good. Sone of the sides were meh [mac abd cheese]. The service was great. My real complaint is it was do dark at noon on a Saturday, i could barely read the menu.
Its good food but there's one waitress who looks mad all the time. She's makes the vibe unwelcoming
Small portions for the price you pay. Eggs were cooked perfect. Sausage was burnt and hard like a hockey puck.
Georgia pig bbq was really good! I loved it but i have two little problem. But first let me tell you about the ribs, they where on point and there sauce was amazing but they only have one sauce i wish they would have multiples. And my second one is i wish ya could get debit and credit cards.i never go out with cash but that day i took some cash cause i was going to hard rock so i got lucky. U fix those two little problems and its a 6 for me..
They are moving around the grocery sections. Just when you thought you could run in real quick to grab something. Now its like a treasure hunt without any clues.
I was disappointed with this place a couple ppl recommend this restaurant, and the reviews on googlee are extremely good, but didn’t reach my expectations I got a plate of barbecue spare ribs, and they were pretty tough, also the coleslaw was so sweet to my taste, and the iced tea taste like water with sugar. Not happy it all
For starters the specials have nothing to do with BBQ. Flavorless mac and cheese. The pork slices I had to send it back because it was nasty. There is no traditional BBQ sauce there. Your pretty much forced into a mustard sauce which is not good...not even a little bit. I will not be back to this place.
We have been going to the Georgia Pig for more years than I can count. That’s why I so surprised with our last visit. I couldn’t believe the amount of fat in my chopped pork sandwich, but I was going to just let it go because I understand things happen. However when we were asked how was everything by one of the owners I showed him the half plate full of fat I took out of my sandwich. He said something very softly and walked away never to return to our table. I am not sure why he asked. Again, we have been customers for many years. I will give them another chance. Just surprised by our last visit.

From the smell of the smoke coming out of their old brick pit we had high hopes for some great bbq. Unfortunately, this would not be the case. We ordered a pork sandwich and a beef sandwich to go. …
Ordered their signature pork sandwich with 2 sides, baked beans and fries. The pork was cold, the beans seemed like they were from a can. The fries were good. I was very disappointed. Place really needs a cosmetic makeover and should serve hot food to the customer.
Super excited to try this place recently moved from South Carolina. Spare ribs were tough and burnt on ends, beef was so chewy I couldn’t eat it and the fries definitely were not cooked. Limited amount of bbq sauce but the coleslaw was top tier. End up throwing the plate away waste of $30
Ribs are tough and chewy. 5 stars on the mac n cheese though.
Based on the good reviews I visited them once quite a while back and never went back. I went with my hubby to get a beef platter. When the food was brought to me it was cold. When I told the waitress she looked at me like if I was a lair but took the plate away to tell her manager or another lady that was there. To my disbelief she placed my plate inside a small microwave easily visible from my table. After what was possibly 2 minutes she brings back the plate to me and my meal is still cold. It's insane that not only did she not believe me, she put my food in a microwave and the food is still cold.. my appetite being completely gone I told her I no longer wanted the meal. I wish I could say whether the food is good or not. The 1 is for the horrible service.
I walked in and stood there for 5 minutes while multiple people from staff looked at me and pretended I wasn’t there, while not busy or doing anything else. One of them even turned their back against me after making eye contact and proceeded to drink water and talk to other employees. It looks like they don’t need any more customers.
The service here is horrible and unfriendly! We waited for approximately 5 minutes and both waitresses ignored us, we felt unwelcomed so me and my family left.
