Opinions de Rocco DFAC Fort Sam Houston
The best DFAC on the face of God's green earth...
Best dfac on Fort Sam ! They have Espresso machines and sodas unlike the other dfac on post. Food is way better as well
Love the customer service and varies assortments of food available. Very clean facility and they offer vegetarian options.
Even when long the line moves smoothly The food remarkabley tastier and prepped better than the other dfac The many options and varieties of food n drink make it more enjoyable The music is a nice touch
Coffee machine is a really nice amenity, food is really good also, there's this one awkward employee (short female, whiny voice) careful with her, but overall great place.
This place has takeout breakfast tacos in the morning and Rocco's burgers takeout for dinner. Try them both. You are welcome.
Best DFAC on Ft. Sam. Make sure youbring cash. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.
Healthy food choices made easy with a green, amber, red system. Quick and affordable cafeteria for the hungry warrior in training.
Good food, cheap quality service and clean space
Definitely worth trying on post if you are new to the military dining facility
This is without a doubt in the top 3 restaurants on base. Shoutout to Mr and Mrs Sanchez they are grill masters. I’ve put together a playlist on Spotify with the best songs they’ve played search ‘Rocco’s playlist‘
Definitely the best DFAC on Ft Sam, as good as an army DFAC can get lol, great for the price (free)
If you ever ate anywhere else in a military facility, you know this is 5/5
The staff is always very nice and for dining hall food it's actually quite good. Plenty of options if you're a bit more picky. Only issue is finding an open seat sometimes.
You can eat as much as you want. Food and staff are great.
Compared to the other dfac, rocco's is miles better and it's not a game of raw chicken roulette. Hooyah no food poisoning.
Their burgers are amazing! Imagine yourself biting into a Wagyu Rib Eye Tomahawk steak burger, that is what you get at Rocco's. Them burgers are BAWwwwwwLIN! Juicy, thin, and cooked to perfection. Everything is done right in front of you. The fries can go into the fryer for a 30 second or two. Not crispy enough for my luxurious fry lifestyle. Staff is exceptional, always doing the right thing. Keep doing what you do Rocco's!
Food is not that great as the AIT or basic training dfacs I have been to. Less variety and choices and the recipes look note so good.
Better than Slagel, particularly because the breakfast hash browns are actually fresh and crispy, and Slagel no longer allows takeout boxes for anyone who isn’t on quarters/ROM. Staff are always kind and willing to provide service. A+ all around!

Whatever this DFAC is doing with the food, please continue.
Some of the best Army food I've had. It's easy to pick healthy entrees and get some veggies as sides. On days when you need it, they've got some soul food as well. Walk in, wash your hands, pay or notify attendants which course you're in, and choose a station. They have healthy options, grill, sandwich bar, ethnic food, and home cooking for entrees. Coffee, soda, flavored water, milk, and tea for drinks. Dessert station, salad bar with specialty and veggie salads, and yogurt. Always leave with a full belly with food that gives me fuel to hit up Central Post gym afterwards.
I miss this place I would always ask the nice Latina ladies if they can give my deli wraps extra Chipotle sauce, and they'd always do <3
These are the best hashbrowns in all of the Army. Everywhere DFAC in the world doesn't season and fry their hashbrowns as crispy and savory as these. Heck they're even better than McDonald's hashbrowns
Great food, very nice staff, a great atmosphere and variety of dishes and salads. Would definitely recommend. Lots of food for good price. And as a student I appreciate all the efforts to bring us this amazing dining experience. Thank you!
Best DFAC in the Army (CONUS) It's consistently stayed good for over a decade that I've been going (and probably a lot longer than that)
Yall come check out Rocco DFAC cause they have the best prices
Greatly improved from when I came at couple years ago. Now a model DFAC in JBSA for food taste, cost and variety.
After 10 years, I returned to eat at the legendary Rocco's. I'll tell you what, nostalgia kicked my ass. Food is still solid, as you would expect from the DFAC closest to where the high ranks prowl. Beats METC by a long shot still.
One of the best Army dining facilities I've been to. The food was good, their selection was great. No complaints.
The food here is pretty good as far as DFACs go. Was honestly rather impressed by the quality of the food compared to the many other Army installations I've ate at. I also haven't had any bad experiences with the staff. They're exceptionally friendly and professional. The lady that normally runs the deli is awesome and has a great personality. Not many people know the stress these workers deal with having to maintain and run things to a military standard and I can honestly vouch that they do the job damn well. If the command structure that runs this is reading this, please know they're doing a great job.

I'd say it's the best DFAC on post. The chicken is always fully cooked, so they've got that going for them.
Definitely one of the best chow halls on post if u have the option to go here I highly recommend it but also keep in mind army chow halls are still always just chow halls
Good food for a messhall cannot beat the price $5.55 . This is not an open mess , active duty civilians and contractors only.
Pretty big chow hall, rude cooks though. I would imagine they spend all day yelling at boots. They were even rude to me and my colleague as civilians.
Love the staff here very nice clean but it does get full and sometimes lunch is also dinner
Had the fried catfish...they just put it out, it was a decent size, tender and seasoned well
Good food as far as DFAC's go, but if you don't have a meal card I'd definitely go somewhere else or buy my own groceries.
I enjoy going here over the other option covered by a meal plan. The food is pretty tasty and well cooked, I really enjoyed the chicken. Cooked perfectly! There was some confusing over how to carry out when I last went but the ladies were very nice. I had a women working who helped me look up calories for the dishes and for someone who watches what they eat it was super appreciated. I def recommend. It’s not a fine dining establishment but it’s a healthy and worthy option. And the salad bar is pretty good!
Better of the two dining halls. As always the omelet is the best thing on offer.
Clean. Efficient. Decent food. I REALLY like the kimchi... 😃

Good variety of food options - you can select from the main entree bar, healthy options, meat carving corner, and more! It is the smaller of the two DFACs at Fort Sam Houston, but has a consistently wider selection of food, drinks, and deserts. There is also an espresso machine to really increase the classiness of the meal. It is the smaller dining facility, so lines can get pretty long and chaotic, but the seating is cozy and selection is good.
The employees are so respectful and always friendly! They keep all the items as stocked as possible. I wish they had a salad bar, but COVID restrictions really have everything messed up. Good quality food!
I enjoy eating lunch here. Entrees are very good and the salad bar is well stocked and fresh. $5.60 for whatever you want to eat at lunch is a great deal. Much healthier choice than hitting fast food.

Sink always running. They haven’t fixed it. Been this way for years said a staff member. Fountain machine pours water when your getting soda.
Food is a great value for the price but sometimes not the best quality.
I mean, even for an army DFAC this place is usually pretty subpar.
Better than the Army DFAC, for sure, but not all that great. Definitely worth the walk, as their ice creams and cappucino machine are nice features. 🔥
Pretty decent overall. Definitely better than Slagel DFAC on average. Not opened on weekends which is a bit of a downer but you can't complain too much about this place.
Smells absolutely terrible inside the building and seemingly stingy with the food. The food is good most of the time but if they prepare you a to-go plate they just slop some random stuff in there. Isn't nutritious as one would hope for optimum fitness but it's decent.

Active duty is allowed but not your spouse is what I’ve been told. Lady kicked us out. Just a heads up.
