New place on the service road in Alliance area. Good, plentiful barbecue. The thick slices of brisket were nicely marbled and not dry. Sausage was a little dry. Sauce was in a dispenser near the cup lids. Family run. Lots of options. Everybody was really nice. Good sides like smoked greens and yams.
Just passing through town in the midst of a cross country move and wanted some GOOD southern bbq. lil JJ's blew me away! Soooo good! The people working were very nice, the place was spotless, drinks were great, sweet tea was perfect, and a unique selection of soda made with real pure cane sugar. I got the 3 meat dinner plate with pulled pork, chopped brisket, and chicken I can't pick which one was my fave. They were all tender and juicy and flavorful, sooooo good! My meal came with 2 sides U chose the Mac n cheese which was super yummy and cheesy, and the cole slaw.... Oh my... The cole slaw was absolutely heaven in a cup! And tasted just like my mom used to make with a hint of spice that didn't overwhelm, I think might have been my favorite thing. I dunno, it was all just so good! They've got a week thought out menu and I can't say anything bad about this little gem of a place. Maybe that where it's located and the first glance of appearing to be super small looking from outside it's big inside. Prices were really good considering the quality, like I expected it to cost a lot but it was really affordable. Try this place, you won't be disappointed?
Oh my... the brisket :-) Everything I tried here was great, but the star of the show was the sliced brisket, incredibly juicy, incredibly tasty, and I could have eaten this all day. Ribs were fantastic too, and the sausage was fine as well. I loved the Beans, and the smoked collard greens enjoyable (a new taste for a Brit) Service was great, warm, friendly and happy to chat - the lady said she was the sister of the owner. I'd come back here in a flash if I ever got the chance.
Finally found a BBQ spot that gets the 'low and slow' method right. The smoky aroma hits you as soon as you step into the door and it only gets better from there. We tried the rib plate with two selections (ribs and sausage) and every meat was seasoned to perfection and the sides were outstanding. Beyond the food, the customer service was top-tier. The manager was gracious and stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect. It’s that kind of personal touch that turns a first-time visitor into a regular. Five stars all the way!"
Food was excellent. I ordered 3 meat plate(chicken,smoked sausage, brisket). Seasoned well. Greens doesn’t need hot sauce or anything. beans/meat omg every bite awesome. 1 meat potatoe recommended and add beans. Kool aid was great!
I visited for the 1st time today and it was more than I expected and I loved alll of it! I had the Sliced Brisket plate which was very tender and delicious with Mac n Cheese, sweet potatoes, and a cornbread a sweet tea then some grape kool-aid lol OMG! I wasn't planning on eating a big lunch but I thought I'd try I picked at my son's okra and potatoe salad which was very good as well needless to say I was full but it was all so good! The servers are very kind with smiley faces be grateful cause you dont find that very often. Will definitely return ! 5 stars allll the way!
Delicious!! We went for lunch today, and it did not disappoint! The service was great, everyone was friendly and made sure we were happy. The food was amazing. My husband and I shared the three meat plate with brisket, sausage and turkey and mac and cheese and potato salad. We loved it all. It was the best turkey I’ve ever had! Our baby also loved it all, especially the mac and cheese.
While searching for something new came across this gem. Family owned and operated. The food was fantastic. While you can get beans and slaw at most bbq places, JJ’s adds yams and greens to the mix; AMAZING. Smoked turkey, bbq brisket, ribs and jalapeño sausage were a big hit. Don’t forget to try the boom boom candy (jalapeños wrapped in bacon and cheese). The staff were so friendly and offered up the best recommendations.
This is an absolute gem of a restaurant in the Alliance area. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very clean. The food was delicious!! We had a pulled pork sandwich which was tender and flavorful. The fried okra was crispy, yum! The baked beans were smoky and had a different taste but in a good way. We haven’t made it to trying the brisket and cornbread that we brought home yet but I expect it to be on the same par as the items we ate in the restaurant. This is a must try place when you are looking for somewhere to eat great tasting BBQ.
This is truly a hidden gem! I love Texas BBQ, and I smoke my own very often, so I’m a tough customer, and let me tell you EVERYTHING is great. Most tender and tasty brisket, turkey and ribs, the sides are ridiculously good, the Jj Beans can be a meal all alone, packed with meat too, the smoked greens also could make a meal and Mac and cheese is creamy and delicious. None of this meat needs sauce, it stands good on its own flavor.This is my new go to BBQ spot. They also have a nice small bar area too. Can’t wait to get back there! Mrs & Mr D… great job! Almost forgot the peach cobbler.. YUMM!
Thank you first and foremost being so welcoming as soon as we walked in.. most importantly customer service. Its what makes people make come back. Talk to you like your family ans not alot of places are like that. Food was great and they stuff that sandwich for sure. Ill be coming back to try different things. Go support this small Family owned business.
Holy Smokes! This place is amazing! The food was fantastic and the portion sizes were large. The Beans are a must have. The employees were all super friendly, this is a great place to take the family to eat.
This place is amazing! Food on point and free drinks.. what else you need. Staff was super friendly, reminded me of one of my aunts. I ordered a rib plate and brisket baked potato, both were fantastic. Free drinks were a margarita and an Adios, both hit the spot. Definitely recommend stopping by sooner than later.
Food at Lil JJ's smokehouse is superb bbq. Tried it one night on a whim since I saw it had recently opened and had decent reviews and I'm so glad I did. It has become a place I now regularly eat at. At least once a week we get the $75 small deal as our work lunch and everyone in the office loves it. Everything I've tried (which is most of the menu at this point) is so damn good. Meat is seasoned wonderfully with a perfect amount of smoke, large portions on the sandwiches (the sliced brisket is my favorite one), tasty sides (ESPECIALLY the "berry best beans"). They also have Kool aid on tap which is awesome. The restaurant was clean and the people running it seem really nice- just a great vibe. If you love bbq you need to try out JJs asap.
We dined in and got the small platter - servings were generous and very tasty! Ribs and brisket were tender and well seasoned, jalapeño sausage was great and had enough kick to make it worthy of the name. The sides we sampled were potato salad, slaw, collard greens, and their famous baked beans which did not disappoint! We aren’t fans of BBQ sauce that is too sweet, and their sauce was delicious - we made guesses about the secret ingredient but staff would not share the recipe - otherwise they were very friendly and welcoming. 😊 We had to get to-go boxes as were plenty full by the time we were done - and we will definitely be back! Highly recommend this place!
Food was amazing. Got the Lil JJ sandwich combo and couldn’t even finish it, large portions and very well cooked brisket and sausage on a toasted bun. The barbecue sauce is delicious and pairs well with everything. We came later so they were out of some things but the potato salad was good too. Limited seating but overall great service and amazing food. Definitely worth the price.
So this place used to be Berry Best BBQ in NRH. I missed the food so much that I had to make the trip out to see the new restaurant and I was impressed like I was impressed at their old location. The food was amazing, brisket was tender, ribs just right and the jalapeño cheddar sausage was spicy. The yams were piping hot and delicious. Glad to see they still have great food. They have free alcohol during the weekends, just tip the bartender. So if you’re caught in traffic on 35 trying to get home, I’d say stop in, have a few drinks and soak it up with one of their plates!
Now this one surprised me! This place rocks! Lill JJ’s smoke house was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly. They even had kool aid on tap! I will definitely be going back! I had the turkey sandwich and it was so good, next time I go I’ll be trying the chopped chicken! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area who wants good barbecue!
Peach cobbler was slamming! And I’m picky about my peachy cobbler! Everything was seasoned well not too much just right! I got the three meat plate with sliced brisket, baked chicken and ribs! Sides greens, potato salad and baked beans! Even serves kool Aid! Clean and friendly quick service! Go try,you won’t be disappointed!
Been a fan for multiple years. Happy to see them move closer to me in the Alliance area. Really good bbq. Don't sleep on the beans and greens or banana pudding. Ribs, brisket, and sausage are all good. Prices are on par with others. There is a drive thru, entrance on the backside. 3rd party delivery also. Very friendly folks here. We'll worth a visit!

Very friendly and nice atmosphere, they even have a nice corner bar inside. The food was delicious, especially the “Boom Boom Candies” that were truly mouth watering good and I’d absolutely recommend them. It is a great place to grab you some good BBQ! It is a little pricey, but portions are big mostly.
This review is going to sound like I am just looking for things to complain about, but there were a few things with the order that were disappointing. The brisket and turkey are very good. I am surprised someone saw this bun and put it in a box to serve. Sad sandwich overall. The potato salad had rotten chunks of potato. The lid to the yams was cracked, so the syrup leaked all over the other containers. Had to wash them all off.
The brisket Frito pie was excellent! The staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to wait on customers.
I really wanted to love this place. I was excited to try it, but the food was very disappointing. I came by to get some sides to go with dinner at home. I was craving some good southern collard greens, and mac and cheese. I was told they don’t offer small sides, only medium or large. Although it says otherwise online (door dash, square, etc) but I said alright, that’s fine, and got the medium size. ($6 each) I figured we’d just have a good amount for a few of us. I got Mac and cheese, greens, bbq beans, and a baked potato. I also requested bbq sauce, and the pickles, onions and jalapeños on the side (which I never got). Let’s start with the Mac and cheese, to me a good Mac and cheese should be CHEESY, and have that crunch on the top of a little burnt cheese. This had neither, and lacked any flavor at all. The noodles were hard and it tasted like the cheap Mac that comes pre made from a bag. I had two bites, and tossed it. The greens, overcooked, mushy, inedible. Broke my heart. Really what I wanted the most. I really tried, after the third bite I said I can’t do it. Never had greens that were inedible. The BBQ beans, now them beans were good. Real good. I’d eat a whole bowl of those. They doin those RIGHT. The potato was good, slightly undercooked (still had a bite to it) but I appreciated the pepper over it. I love me some pepper. Their bbq sauce is super sweet, so if that’s your thing, you’ll like it. I personally like a good spice and sweet mix. This was all sugar. Now let’s talk about the size of these “medium sides”… I felt like I got the small size that was “unavailable”. There is no way these are medium size sides and if they are, I’d be changing that yesterday. It’s hardly a serving for even one person. And that person needs to be about 80 lbs. I paid a lot for this, and I was upset by it. Overall, I didn’t have their meat, so I can’t comment on that, but if the greens and mac ain’t good, I won’t try again. I do hope they fix this, and are successful. Seem like nice folks. But I work hard for my money and don’t like to feel like I just threw it away.

I had high hopes, but was left extremely underwhelmed. The food wasn't up to par for me...we're pretty picky when it comes to bbq and nothing that we ordered actually had a smoke taste. The smoke ring was none existent on our brisket and ribs. Honestly, both meats tasted as if they were kissed on the grill and finished in an oven. The sausage was good, so I'll give props on that. Mac n cheese was horrible, literally no cheese sauce or cheese baked in. It tasted like seasoned noodles. The beans were a bit too sweet for my taste, but have potential. Lastly, the peach cobbler had issues in the cook. The peaches weren't rendered down enough, so the juices were watery versus forming a thicker syrup texture. It also could use a touch more vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. That's just preference though. 1 compliment I will leave is that the staff was very nice, so service was 5 stars. Unfortunately, the food needed to match or at least come close.
