Sketchy building when you walk in but it has a real cool old time feel. The service seems like they just want you to grab your meat and go rather than boasting about their food. Take it how you want but doesn't seem like they cared about me and my feelings. I had to talk to my wife about the situation. All semi-joking aside, the food is good and won't disappoint. Not the best in town nor the worse. I would come back here especially knowing what I know now which is they do not care about my feelings but just my taste buds.

Great place to watch a college football game! We got the 2 meat plate with ribs and ham. Potato salad and fries and we got a peach cobbler. Ribs were a little salty but had good flavor. My wife wasn’t impressed with the ham. Fries were good but we had to add salt. Peach cobbler was good but not the best. No sweet tea, I had to add Splenda.

1st time eating at rail head... Hmmm I actually thought I got half of whataburger... it had mustard, pickles, and onions just like whataburger. Lol I guess thats how they serve the sandwiches here... oh I also asked for sliced beef but look more like chopped. Needless to say I would get another sandwich from here. Review of Railhead Smokehouse in Fort Worth: My visit to Railhead Smokehouse in Fort Worth left much to be desired. While there were highlights, such as the super delicious banana pudding and the good smoke flavor of the brisket, there were also significant disappointments. The brisket, while adequately smoked, was unfortunately dry, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Even the baked potato stuffed with brisket failed to impress, with the dryness of the meat overshadowing the flavors. However, the potato salad provided a pleasant surprise, offering a tasty alternative to the lackluster main dishes. The sides, including the green beans, fell short of expectations, with only the potato salad managing to stand out. On a brighter note, the margarita swirls were a delightful treat, providing a refreshing contrast to the meal. Unfortunately, the negatives extended beyond the food. The restroom facilities were in a state of disarray, reflecting poorly on the overall cleanliness of the establishment. Additionally, the staff appeared to be bickering amongst themselves, creating a tense atmosphere. Overall, my visit to Railhead Smokehouse was marred by dry brisket, lackluster sides, and subpar service. While there were some redeeming qualities, such as the delicious banana pudding and margarita swirls, the overall experience fell short of expectations.

Usually sliced beef brisket is great- moist and tender. I was disappointed of my sandwich today. I got dry stringy pieces and no slices of brisket. Unfortunately I could not eat it. I guess I will need to request only moist brisket slices on my sandwich and not stringy pieces.

Typically, I have pleasant experiences here and recommend this place to friends and family; yet I was disappointed today coming through for lunch. I got the chopped beef sandwich plain, with a side of fries and a drink. Cost me $14.30 before tip. The fries were warm & good, yet my sandwich was as completely cold. Very disappointed, given this is somewhere I’ve grown up eating and cherishing with family and friends. I came today on my lunch break and I am only allotted 30 minutes for my lunch. I pay good money for food that wasn’t served fresh is very inconveniencing. Although the location is decent, and the service is met by great members, I would’ve loved to been served a warm meal for what I paid. I suppose next time I come through I’ll specify that I would want a warm chopped beef sandwich.

Quaint part of town and the facade is newer. I met an old friend here and this is a favorite haunt for him so it’s conflicting not to provide a resounding affirmation of his faith. The inside is a stark contrast to the outside and has an older school wooden smokehouse feel. Beer and wine bar is available. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The menu has that old time feeling of letters on a push board and is very direct and concentrated. I went with his recommendation of the chopped beef sandwich, BBQ beans and green beans. The BBQ had a strange bark that was a little too crusty and had a foreign hint of something I can’t identify, likening to lighter fluid getting in the pit. The BBQ beans were meaningless and had a bland, chalky consistency. Likewise the green beans were straight out of a can with no noticeable seasoning or even onion, bacon, etc. to kick them up. They do serve cold beer. As I mentioned, I’m sad really to write, but I imagine I will get another chance to try it with my buddy and will try other options.

People should listen to the Yelp score instead of the "propped up" google score. I've been to every bbq joint from bad to the best in Texas and this easily is in the bottom 5 for sure! Locals only you could tell are the ones trying to help with reviews and business overall, I think mainly due to the cheap ice cold beer. I'll give them that, unfortunately that was the best thing there. Guy behind the counter was a smartass to several customers in front of our big party. Not one in our party of 20+ said they'd ever come back and I don't blame them. Get someone who at least knows how to slice a damn brisket against the grain. Flavor of it is the only reason I give 2 stars instead of one. Chewed like leather, sides sucked, ribs 5/10 at best, chicken dry as hell!

Picked up some ribs and brisket the other day from Railhead Montgomery Street and I have to say they were not good. The ribs tasted old. The meat was like cement, and the brisket was almost all fat. They really have went downhill. I won’t be going back there. I’ll try the one in Hudson Oaks. Maybe I’ll have better luck with the quality.

I wanted to enjoy this but I had the chopped beef plate. The value is outstanding but that is about it. This may have been the worst chopped beef (brisket) I’ve ever had. Tons of onions/mustard then an off putting Smokey flavor. The beef was absolutely minced and resembled potted meat. I paid $11.40 or so for the sandwich and 2 sides which were subpar. 1/10 ☹️

This is the absolute worst chopped beef sandwich I've ever tasted. The meat was more like ground dirt. It must have cooked repeatedly throughout the day to have this taste. The price for this sandwich was outrageous. Also the server didn't try to get my order correctly. I wanted no pickle, mustard or onions, all were present on this disgusting sandwich. They wouldn't even honor their policy of a military discount. The server said I didn't qualify because I was a take out. Avoid this place if you want a good chopped beef sandwich. In my opinion.

Father-in-law wanted to buy lunch so we decided to give this place another chance. Bad decision. Prices not bad for barbecue but you get what you pay for. $97 for 5 people. Food quality was terrible. Turkey and chicken tasted like they were cooked with propane. Strong bad taste. No meat on the ribs. Beef was very hard to chew. Small portions of sides and french fries count as two sides!? That's ridiculous. Definitely do not recommend and will never be going back.
