I recently visited this place for the first time and tried their rava dosa, vada sambar, and vada idly. The food was delicious, with both quantity and quality being impressive. The service was attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even better. I particularly appreciated their use of eco-friendly plates, which shows a commitment to sustainability. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for tasty South Indian food and a great dining experience.

I’ve been craving dosa and decided to check out Madras Idly Kadai today. We ordered the Mysore Masala Dosa and the Onion Chilli Rava Dosa. Service was impressively quick, and I appreciated their eco-friendly plating. The food tasted good overall, though I’m uncertain about the authenticity of the flavors. The Rava Dosa was extremely crispy, almost wafer-like, and the Mysore Masala Dosa had the texture of a paper dosa. I expected something slightly different based on traditional dosas. When I asked the server, they mentioned this was the intended style. If you’re a fan of very crispy dosas, this spot might be for you. For me, it was good, but I’m still on the lookout for something closer to the authentic style I had in mind.

We came in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised to learn they also offer a buffet. We decided to try it, and it was absolutely worth it! The spread was generous, and honestly, I can’t single out one dish—every item was delicious. It had been a while since I enjoyed such a truly authentic South Indian breakfast, and this was top-notch. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too busy for a weekend, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend!!!

Wow, what a game-changer! The Vegetable Crispy Dosa I had recently was absolutely phenomenal! The dosa was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and a side of tangy chutney that added an extra layer of depth to the dish. The staffs were friendly and knowledgeable who clearly cared about ensuring we had an amazing experience. If you're a fan of South Indian cuisine, or just looking to try something new, do yourself a favor and get to this place.

1. The food is fresh 2. Ambience is good 3. I had a combo with Idli Vada Desert and Upma costing $11.95 plus tax 4. Upma was cold and could be hot however Idli and Medu Vada was good 5. They use biodegradable material which is positive 6. Service is good. Staff folks are kind and prompt

This a newly opened in walm springs, Fremont opp to coconut hill. I tried my all time and ultimate favorite Benne dosa and it’s the best of Bay Area and super yummy. As it was fully cooked in ghee and it’s out of the world. For any Vegetarian restaurant Sambhar and chutneys are important and most of the restaurants mess up here and there with the taste and quality but I have not found any fault in any of the condiments . They did every thing so well. Enjoy 2-6 pm Monday thru Friday for their special dosa priced at 6.95$ only Also their punugulu / mirchi bajji and veg pakora for $5 only. This will be my Togo place for Benne dosa and thatte idly. This will be my weekly routine from now on. It’s an open kitchen and very spacious with a capacity of 90 people. Fantastic and awesome quality and taste.

Tried Kothu Paratha recently and it was very good. The flavors were spot on and it felt like comfort food done right. Definitely worth the price. The ambience was amazing and definitely worth visiting again.

The food here is outstanding, with the Benne dosa being a must-try—perfectly fresh and bursting with authentic flavors. The sambar and chutneys are equally impressive. Don’t miss the Ghee Podi Thatte Idly and Madhurai Malli Dosa—they’re absolutely delicious. The ambiance adds to the experience, offering a spacious and welcoming atmosphere. If you're craving top-notch South Indian cuisine, this place is a gem.

Lovely experience at this newly opened restaurant. Food was good, fast service and best part is the courteous staff! Sure to return back. We’ve already been here twice in a week! Mini idli dipped in Sambar - idli was very soft and sambar was tasty Madurai Malli dosa - it was ok. Didn’t enjoy as much. Maybe didn’t suit our taste. Rasam vada - delicious! Onion chilli rava masala dosa - delicious! Mysore masala dosa - delicious And do not miss the happy hours!! 2-6pm The first time we went during the happy hours and got the dosas at a discounted price

We tried the breakfast buffet at Madras Idli Kadai today, and it was absolutely delicious! Honestly, it’s the best breakfast I’ve had in a while. Every single dish was flavorful — which is rare, since usually you like a few and skip a few, but here everything was great. The ambience is welcoming, the service is attentive, and the menu has a wonderful variety. If you’re a true breakfast lover, this place is a must-visit. It will definitely satisfy your appetite 😊

This shop recently opened. The servers and the owner, everyone are very kind and sweet. The Benne dosa is good, tried it for the first time. Sambhar could be improved taste wise. Chutneys are good - they have 3 chutneys instead of just 2 at all other restaurants. Madurai malli dosa was good too. Both dosas I tried for the first time. Liked the benne dosa more though.

We have been there twice for weeknight dinner. We were excited to discover they have peanut chutney, which is not a standard offering in the South Bay. Service is fast and friendly. All food that we have tried has been delicious and fresh.

Looking for home like South Indian food, here in Warm springs, Fremont -Visit MIK. Excellent fresh & crispy Dosa made to order. Sambhar, Chutneys & Rasam vadai (can be spicy those favor it) - top notch. Fresh filter coffee, reminds u of Chennai! I get my dosa & rava dosa fix here! Neat happy hour menu and weekend specials. Do give a try.

Definitely #1 South Indian in East Bay. Have tried their Pleasanton location and now this one. Both offer top class taste in food. This location is much more spacious. Plenty of parking. It’s right across coconut hill. Adai- very flavorful and right spices. Pesaratu- comes with pesaratu dosa and upma. Upma was awesome coming from someone that hates rava upma. Vegetable dosa - nicely cooked vegetables that’s not like typical spring dosa or lightly cooked. Cheese dosa - very good!! Sambar and all chutneys super yummy! Portion size is big. Thali lunch to be served soon.

Namma Ooru madrasu athukku Madras Idly Kadai thaane addressu. This song reminds of my hometown Chennai as the food from MIK reminds me of home style food with Chennai flavours. Visiting this restaurant for the third or fourth time with my wife. Truly delicious food served with authentic flavours from madras and being an Chennai bred boy I definitely recommend to visit this restaurant in the Bay Area. Best place for pure vegetarian tiffin and lunch. They have amazing specials and today I tried their veetu soru thali which was truly delicious and my wife loved every bit of it. We tried their tiffins the other day and must say rava dosa was so crispy and to top it off with their sambhar and chutney varieties it was mind blowing. I loved their Poori masala, filter coffee, sambhar idly. Their service is extraordinary and the owners are very friendly and polite. Ambiance is great and very spacious dining. Exemplary parking space. Overall highly recommend and value for money. Food is very affordable and very hygienic

One of the best places to visit for a sumptuous South Indian meal, dosas and idlis. I loved the size of each dosa and the overall serving quantity in every dish. It's totally worth every buck. We tried the Madurai Malli Dosa which has a green chutney smeared inside, and an Andhra Karam Masala Dosa which is slightly on the spicier side. We love spicy! Ghee Podi Idlis were super soft and delicious to the core with the toppings they offered. Filter Coffee is a must-try. They have speciality dosas as well like Adai Dosa, Raagi Dosa and Pesarattu. We especially requested a small onion tomato chilli uttapam just to taste, but you'll get two large ones when you order. The chutneys and sambhar are authentic and taste amazing! We had been there on Ganesh Chaturthi so got to taste the delicious Modaks as well. Check out the full reel on my Instagram food page @veggie_central ❤️

Price point: Very reasonable priced items. Ambiance : Simple and clean Service: Fast Food: DAAlicious…loved it. Food was served hot and tasted freshly made. Idli was soft, sambar had a wonderful ghee flavor and chutneys had a nick kick. Their thali was amazing. I’m going to eat that next time was well. The dried mango curry was unique, karma had a wonderful cinnamon flavor, rassam had a nice hint of asafoetida(hing) flavor. I couldn’t stop eating the sweet (double ka meetha). We also ordered 4 curries to-go and we loved all of them. We get Idli-dosa in many places in Fremont. What I liked about this place is the thali and the food tasted very authentically South Indian. I will definitely go back again and would recommend it to others.

We ordered Benne Masala dosa which was hot and crispy, 🚀 Plain Dosa for little one which she seemed to enjoy and Podi idli (2 with podi and 1 plain for little one). The idlis were really soft and the podi masala was good and tasty, not too spicy. All the food came very fast and was hot and fresh. No chana bhatura on the menu though ;'( The coconut chutney was fresh and tasted good, I didn't try the other two (peanut, tomato I think), sambar was okay, I feel it could use a little more zing. Also, everyone was pleasant and answered all our questions about the food. They sell batter also, we bought idli batter ~$8, will see how it compares to idli express batter ;)

We went to Madras Idli Kadai after playing badminton at the nearby Synergy courts. It was pretty quiet on a Monday afternoon at around 1.30pm. They had thali and mini thali specials going on for lunch both very reasonably priced at $13.95. Our group mostly got Thalis and one mini thali (all mini thali items are a part of the thali, except bisebilebhat). The portion size was generous with several items; easily sufficient for one. They were kind enough to accommodate minor substitutions. I asked for the white rice to be replaced with an extra chapati which they allowed. The taro stir fry was a standout. I also enjoyed the pineapple Kesari which was not too sweet or oily/fatty. The rasam packed quite a punch and the other sides were mild as expected. The mini thali had the bisebilebhat which my friend really enjoyed. They offered 2 refills for any curries in the thali. The staff was friendly and the place was generally clean and not noisy. We also tried their mini filter coffee ($2.25) which we enjoyed post meal. Overall, great value for money - authentic and mild Indian food! 4.5/5 rounded up.

Excellence!! Fresh, hot food brought right to your table. MIK - Madras Idli Kadai had become our favorite restaurant for South Indian Food in the Bay Area. Dosas are fresh and hot! Madras Idli Kadai has been our go-to spot on many weeknights for idlis and dosas, but their weekend lunch buffet truly surprised us. With dishes like beans paruppu usili and snake gourd kootu, it stands apart from the usual buffet fare filled with standard items. Every dish felt homely and comforting—reminding me of my mom’s cooking. Definitely a weekend treat we’ll be returning for!

Madrasi Idli kadai truly lives up to its name when it comes to authentic South Indian flavors. The idlis are soft, fluffy, and served steaming hot. Their sambar is flavorful with the right balance of spice and tang. The dosas are crisp on the outside and soft inside, especially the masala dosa which is generously filled and well-seasoned.

Our first visit today. We had Rava onion dosa. Reasonable size and volume with chutney and Sambar. It was filling. Tasted authentic and delicious too. Also paratha and kurma was good. Special kudos to Madras filter coffee. Food quality did not disappoint. Service response was reasonable. Only the ambience could be improved. The restaurant was cold. Need temperature control.

New Restaurant near mission Blvd We tried Benne Dose and Masala Dose It was a ToGo Order The taste was good The only aspect we did not like was that the owner(the one at the front desk) has a lot of ego.The way he spoke, as a customer felt as if he was paying me for taking his dosas.Probably some business will still survive and thrive despite this BUT as a customer don’t like the same. For now I recommend the place. Will try them again and checkout how they treat customers.

This place came highly recommended by several friends, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The food quality was decent, but the dosas lacked the flavors I was hoping for. Will probably visit again to retry some of the recommended items.

If you’re craving authentic South Indian flavors in Fremont, Madras Idli Kadai in Warm Springs is a solid pick. The idlis are soft and airy, just like they should be, and the sambar has that comforting, home-style spice. Dosas come crisp and generously filled — the masala dosa was especially satisfying. Their chutney trio adds the right kick, especially the coconut and tomato ones. The place is small and more functional than fancy, but service is quick and the prices are reasonable. A reliable spot for a quick, flavorful vegetarian meal.

Food is excellent. Need to wait around 15 to 20 min to get in and get seated due to huge crowds in the late evening. They took long time to take the orders and also took long time to bring the food to the table. For me I ordered onion, tomato, chili uthapam, but got only onion one. I didn't complain as I am hungry and don't want to wait some more time for my food. Probably should have gone there very early .

Service and marketing issues: We came here on Nov 29, Friday in the week of thanksgiving after seeing their flyer about unlimited dosa (with some exceptions) Tue- Fri till thanksgiving week. When we entered there were people in two tables already well into their meals and 3 wait staff in total. Despite this we had to flag the waiter down after 10 min of patiently waiting to place our orders. At this point we asked him about the unlimited dosa offer and he said it needed with thanksgiving Thursday and he couldn’t give us the offer today despite us pointing out it said till Friday . We then asked him for recommendations and he said he’s not sure, he has only eaten few dosas himself. So we proceeded to order a peanut dosa and a benne dosa. Then the peanut dosa came in about ten minutes and a good ten minutes later the benne dosa appeared. The peanut dosa was much bigger than the disposable plates and they flopped it around on the counter which is unhygienic. The plates can easily be made bigger or the dosa folder before serving to avoid this. Then we again flagged the waiter down to ask about the happy hour advertised on their menu from Tuesday - Friday 2-6 pm since it was a Friday and well within the time window. The waiter told us the offer starts only next week and asked us what else we would like to order. We decided to end our meal there and paid at the counter and left. We were provided kids on asking for our sambar and chutney . Taste: Taste was good, and chutney and sambar were quite good too. However they weren’t exceptional to overlook the poor service and deceptive offers. Service is quite lacking and most of the wait staff were just hanging around talking even when there wasn’t a crowd. Advertising something and not honoring is actually quite a serious business , and I will take my business to other places that do.

The food taste is awesome. We ordered Ragi Dosa and a thali. The cooking staff must be really good! The ambience, not so much. The minute I stepped in, it felt, sorry to say, a bit trashy. I could see literally every table eaten on but not cleaned up. Crumbs of food on the table and on the floor everywhere. The place was dimly lit, the furniture worn down. And the signs are everywhere, that the restaurant took over an old shut down place with bad Feng Shui and did nothing much to make it presentable. There was no music up on the speakers and no light in the place as half the lights were turned off. Bathrooms looked like they are at Greyhound bus stop. There were plenty of wait staff with one busy supervisor who clearly is new to managing a restaurant floor. Generally downbeat demeanor from the wait staff. But, like I said, the food tastes amazing! This restaurant is probably good for ordering take out. But dining in is problematic.

The food taste is awesome. We ordered Ragi Dosa and a thali. The cooking staff must be really good! The ambience, not so much. The minute I stepped in, it felt, sorry to say, a bit trashy. Had a bad experience yesterday when I went for dinner with my family. There's an offer going on (buy one get one on few items - misleading poster with half info), so I order an item as I thought I will get another item as well with the offer but I got the item which is not close to the mentioned item, I asked the waiter and he told that it was the same item, then after some time manager showed up and he was trying to convince me that there's no offer on the items I ordered but they are giving just for my sake and said that no one will give these many items for such a less price and offered me to give other items in free as I was pointing their mistake. I paid the amount and left from there, felt very bad as I was with my family. DON'T BELIEVE THE OFFERS THEY POST.

I ordered two servings of kuruma to go with my paratas. When I asked about the portion, the server explained that they usually provide only 8oz, but he gave me 16oz in one box, which he claimed would be sufficient. However, when I opened it at home, I found that more than half was filled with large pieces of potatoes and carrots, and it wasn't even enough for two paratas

Went there at around 9ish to have breakfast. We got our vada sambar within 10 minutes. Vada was very crisp and nice. They used recycled materials for serving plates and cups that won my heart. We had ordered rava dosa and kothu parota, they didn’t serve us even after 45mins. When reminded multiple times, they brought the dosa that they called as rava dosa. It was no where close to taste of rava dosa. It had a lot of starch, check the photo in detail. Kothu parota was cold and didn’t felt fresh at all. I did mention to someone at the front about it, but not sure if they cared for any feedback. Just remember that not all items on the menu are good. Don’t dare to try rava dosa until they improve, and definitely you don’t need cold kothu for breakfast!

We got the onam thali. Quite underwhelmed by their service and attitude and absolutely no sense of timely service. Food was not that great. It was a togo order. We got 2 servings of “black tea” and no sweet. And who gives 1/2 parotta for a thali? Everything was miniature quantity - even banana was 1/2! And charged us $18+ for this food and their treatment.

Although the man in charge here knows I'm a regular customer he still treated me like garbage. I watched four customers pick up their food while waiting and none of them were treated unfairly like I was. He should be consistent and treat all customers the same. An apology is not enough. This restaurant has lost the business of my family and friends because of his insulting behavior.

Biiiigggg disappointment!!!! I would have given less than one star if possible. The service, the food, the ambiance everything is disappointing. The food is below average. The tall guy refused to take our order two times as he was too busy, after 20 mins he took the order and we got our appetiser after 40 minutes. We ordered mini idili dipped in sambar, ghee masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa and filter coffee. The mini idili dipped in sambar was sour and sambar had no taste, no salt and the ghee or oil was too much in it. The chutneys were adding nothing to the dish. The ghee masala dosa was cold, masala was tasteless. Same with Mysore masala dosa, the expected spicy chutney on the dosa was insufficient and it tastes like plain dosa. With ghee masala they give peanuts chutney and with Mysore masala they gave coconut chutney. The girl who brought it she doesn’t even understand what was it! For filter coffee, they ran out of milk so we waited for that more than 15 minutes. The girl gave us sugar in a bowl, how we supposed to put sugar in cup without spoon? On our table we didn’t have the spoons and napkin stand, when we asked the spoons some guy handed us plastic spoons so need to asked them specifically steel spoons, so he gave us two wet spoons, the service is that poor! The plates were small to hold the food. Overall experience was very poor. We shared this experience with manager and he was nothing but sorry. We are never going back there! Totally waste of money, time!!!

I am beyond disappointed with our recent visit to Madra Idli Kadai. This was an utterly miserable dining experience from start to finish. The ghee podi thatte idli was dry, lacked ghee, and tasted nothing like a proper thatte idli. The benne dosa was even worse, undercooked, with a raw, batter-like texture that made it inedible. The ghee podi uthappam followed the same pattern as the idli: barely any ghee, leaving it dry and flavorless. The service was an absolute disaster. The waiters ignored customers and spent their time chatting among themselves. After waiting 30 minutes for the cheque, we were casually informed that we had to pay at the counter. This level of negligence is unacceptable. If that wasn’t enough, the water they served had visible black particles, making it unsafe to drink. Adding to the misery, the tables and bathrooms were dirty, showing a complete disregard for hygiene and cleanliness. Our first visit was decent, which is why we gave it another try. Unfortunately, this visit was a nightmare; the food was subpar, the service atrocious, and the ambiance unpleasant. One star is a stretch. Madra Idli Kadai is a complete waste of money and time. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Avoid it at all costs.
