At The Bench, we're your go-to spot for delicious Japanese cuisine and lively game-day vibes. As a Fullerton favorite, our spacious venue is decked out with many TVs, perfect for catching the big game while you enjoy classic pub fare and craft brews on tap. Our customers rave about our mouth-watering dishes - like our signature sushi rolls - and cozy atmosphere, where friends and family can gather to make unforgettable memories. Our friendly staff are always happy to help, ensuring your visit is nothing short of perfect from start to finish.
The Bench is known for its large, flavorful katsu sandwiches with unique Asian-fusion flavors. The Habanero Pesto Katsu and Original Katsu are highly recommended. Some find the flavors strong and portions very generous. A few customers noted pricing discrepancies.
Tip: The sandwiches are large and filling, consider sharing or saving half for later. New customers may find a laminated menu with photos helpful.

I had the Original Katsu Sandwich and the Umeboshi Goat Cheese Sandwich, and both were fantastic. The portions are generous and every bite is full of flavor. This is definitely a spot I will be coming back to, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying sandwich experience!
Cute little spot tucked away in a small plaza. Found this place by accident. It’s close to a laundry mat I was using while in town. Food was delicious and the service was friendly.
Quick delicious meal where all the dipping sauces are made in house! I had: 1. Original katsu 2. Teriyaki chicken katsu - the meat has never been frozen so you can taste the freshness! 3. Katsu bowl with coleslaw 4. Potato puff 5. Mango latte - with mango puree from Korea
Delicious. More people should come. Tip to the owner: create a laminated menu with bigger more professional photos of the main items so it’s easier for new customers to pick something out.
I was invited to Mr. Katsu for my Instagram food blog (@catrinoms) and had a great experience. I tried the Original Katsu Sandwich, Umeboshi Goat Cheese Sandwich, and KFB (Kalbi Fusion) Bowl. The sandwiches are very generously sized and delicious, and I loved the flavors of the KFB Bowl. Definitely recommend this spot if you’re a fan of katsu sandwiches and rice bowls!
The sandwiches are large and filling. The mix of ingredients was very interesting but I think they need to add some seasoning/spices to the pork patties. I wasn't impressed by the potato puffs, they had a nice crunchy coating but they didn't have any flavor inside. The service was outstanding and the seating area was clean and inviting. I'll definitely go back and try a few more things from the menu.
Dive into a flavor journey at Mr. Katsu! For over 10 years, their family-owned restaurant has been serving up unforgettable cuisine. Try the Habanero Pesto Korean Sandwich, featuring a crispy pork cutlet, zesty Habanero Aioli, fresh pesto, and crunchy coleslaw--all made with high-quality, never-frozen meat and their signature homemade sauces. Don't miss the 'What the Frick Fries'--a delicious blend of Korean marinated Kalbi, sautéed kimchi, and gooey cheese, all tossed with party sauce on a bed of shoestring fries. It's a party in your mouth! Pair your meal with some imported Korean juices, like Green Grape Yuzuade or refreshing Grapefruitade, and indulge in in the unique Strawberry, Matcha and Blueberry Latte. Service was quick and they were very helpful. Parking lot has plenty of spaces.
First time having Katsu and definitely did not disappoint! I got the American breakfast sandwich and it was so so good. The sandwiches are huge so definitely could be eaten for two meals. The potato puffs have more of a mashed potato consistency rather than like a tater tot. Very delicious as well, especially with the sauce they came with! Overall great experience 😊
My favorite spot for lunch or dinner when I'm in the area. ❤️ They excel in their niche, and you can never go wrong with their original katsu curry sandwich!
This sandwich place is definitely one of the best in OC. I love their pesto habanero sandwich and haven't even bothered trying anything else because it's just that good. There might be other great options on the menu, but I can't bring myself to order anything else. It gets my coveted stamp of approval.
Wasn't sure what to expect coming in, but woah was it good! I got the curry sandwich and the flavors were explosive! Portion size was pretty big and so half a sandwich was enough for me. The place in itself is fairly small and so might not do great for huge crowds. When we went it was not busy so it was easy finding seating but I can see it being difficult if it were busy. Overall, it has a fun environment to eat you're great food in!
For all the katsu enthusiasts, Mr. Katsu serves some of the most delicious and largest katsu sandwiches in OC! The casual eatery has a simple but varied menu that features 11 different Asian-fusion sandwiches. Per the shop owner’s recommendation, we got the KFB and crispy potstickers to accompany our meal. And the undeniable standout—The Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich! It was the largest sandwich I’ve eaten in a hot minute and super juicy, flavorful, and crispy! The owner, Claire, let us know that everything is made from scratch and made to order (never frozen)!! Which is super impressive and speaks to the quality of food they serve.
We stopped by on Saturday night after our trip to Kohls and loved everything. I got the W.T.F.F and they were exceptional, great blend of flavors and crispy fries. My brother had the OG sandwich and raved about the coleslaw. Our only disappointment is that we can’t try this place again for the first time!! Clean establishment and very nice prompt service :) Drawings on the wall are extra brownie points Do yourself a favor and try this place out! Happy to support a family owner business.

I ordered the Habanero Pesto Katsu sandwich, and it was a game-changer! The katsu cutlet was perfectly breaded with panko, giving it that satisfying crunch with every bite. The habanero pesto sauce was spicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting. The fresh, soft bread and crisp veggies balanced out the spice, making for an absolutely delicious sandwich. But the real surprise of my meal was the potato puffs! These little bites of heaven were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, seasoned just right. They were the perfect side to my sandwich, and I could easily see myself coming back just for those. The atmosphere at Mr. Katsu is casual and welcoming, making it a great spot to grab a quick bite or hang out with friends. The service was friendly and efficient, too.

I always forget to take a picture of the food before I devour it. It is so good! I am a big fan of the galbi curry and katsu curry bowl. I am not usually a fan of katsu, but they have it down to a science: never oily or tough/overcooked, just tender chicken with crunchy breading. They also have some great sandwiches. Very artsy and inviting seating area.

This place has nice katsu. You can have it with rice or bread. The curry was quite good. They put a lot of potatoes in it. The katsu piece was thick. The flavor was a bit too strong for me. I think the panko outside could be less cooked. The ade had great sweet scent to it, although it tasted a bit too sweet. They use fruits from Korea. Great price though, try it if you’re in the area!
The sandwiches and loaded fries are really tasty and are of a good size for the prices. The flavors can be amped up just a little bit as by the time you are almost done with the sandwich it gets a little too bland. Next time I l will order a bit more spicy flavored sandwich. Overall a great new food experience that if I am ever back in the area, I will definitely check it out again!
Good sandwiches for a quick lunch or outdoor picnic. We got the habanero pesto and chipotle Asiago and I was happy with the additional kick of spice in both. The katsu is solid and juicy. I did find myself tiring of the taste after a while, maybe because the sandwiches are pretty hefty. Saved half for later and baked it in the oven. I wouldn’t say these keep that well, but it was still okay tasting the next day. The potato puffs are good too, nice and crispy. I liked the curry ones a lot. Agree with other reviewers that it doesn’t exactly pair with the sandwiches. Perhaps a cool, more tangy side would work better?
This place serves potatoe puffs. It taste fine. They serve katsu bowl. They can make a different variety in those puffs. Price is economical. Tables should be sanitized.
Cute shop in a plaza. I got the yakisoba combo and the original combo. $10 for original which is just pork katsu. $11 for yakisoba. Add $3 for the 3 small potato puff and fountain drink. It’s price is a bit up there in my opinion. It is pretty good though. I would recommend this place to people who loves different types of sandwiches. Their selections are pretty unique. The staffs are really nice too! They clean after people leave from their table so it’s very clean.

Taxing on nothing, menu for W.T.F.F cost $12.50 but charged me $13, when i asked cashier gave me a bs response and told me that it was the "tax" when it was just included in the price of the item. Also added costs to the potato balls when it clearly says $3.50 but charged me $3.64. They are taxing on top of the tax. Besides that they are also cutting down the portions over the years and its ridiculous. Nick the cashier is clueless and is inexperienced and doesn't know whats on their menu.
