Hands down the best Chinese food I've found in the area (including much of Austin). Originally from Houston, I have high relatively high expectations of Chinese food, and Hunan's is very good. It's mostly to-go oriented at this time. Favorite dishes: Beef & Broccoli, Kung Pao Chicken, Chef's Special Beef, and their Fried Rice w/ Meat options. The Won-Ton Soup is usually very tasty as well.

Their sesame chicken is amazing. Along with the peppered steaks, stir fry, eggrolls, sweet and sour chicken, spicy chicken and shrimp and vegetable fried rice. Ya get the gyst, I've had probably half their menu and got nothing but good things to say. Great business, that has great food and service.

This place is great! It's a little place between discount retailers in a strip center, but don't let that fool you! The Mama's chicken and creative captain Tsos chicken were so good! No breaded chicken, just all white meat, fresh vegetables, and wonderful sauces. I wish we had Chinese like this near Austin!

Very tasty food with decent pricing! Me and my husband normally get dinner specials I have had the beef and broccoli and the shrimp in white lobster sauce and they are to die for! The portion size is great! For 12.50 a dinner rice, entree, egg roll and a soup is an awesome price!

Went for the sesame chicken and steamed rice and the wonton soup 😋

Overall rather bland. The chicken lo mien was the tastiest item that we ordered along with the steamed dumplings.

A few years prior to Covid, Hunans in Giddings had the best Chinese food in central Texas. Then, the ownership and/or management changed and the food is now just mediocre. The dining room has finally reopened now so I am hoping it will get back to what it once was.

Delivery order. Fast service, however food was subpar. The Beef with Scallions in a savory brown sauce should be called “Bamboo Shoots with a Hint of Beef Tid Bits. Disappointed. 😔

The service was awful. Once we got our food no one checked on us. One lady was on her phone the entire time and didn't pay anyone dining there any attention.

The food has always been 10/10!! The service has always been terrible 0/10 always! for as long as i remember… but now after covid and once they allowed to dine-in, its -5/10, no hello, thank you, you’re welcome, no check ups, and if you ask for something it’s like you bothered them (Yet they want a tip) Friday 30th of May First time eating inside since covid, you’ll have a better experience if you just pick it up togo! Now that’s a 10/10… front ladies look like they just woke up pissed and in Sandles with dirty shirts. Doesn’t even let you enjoy,, it’s sad they’ve been in business for so long that, I’d at least dress properly and not go to work in my pajamas and showing my crusty toenails. I got up to ask for a small dish for the sweet sour sausce, and miss pajamas looked at me like I asked for it in a click language, so I just went and sat down, we were only table there and took about 10 min for her to tell another young girl to bring it. Cause she was busy on her phone checking her instagram with 10 followers, Other than that. togo is by FAR the best option. 3 ppl, 3 dishes 3 drinks and an appetizer was $70 and want a tip? Okkkkkkkk

This restaurant has not been the same since covid. The atmosphere is dark the food in Togo plates. We ordered two plates, the food was very good and the soups as well. No waiters and the workers that are there are just on their phones. But overall the food is good. I would return to this restaurant because I am a lover of Chinese food.

I have been a lover of Hunans since I was in my teens. It was our go to place for Chinese most of my life now. We were patient through the changes that started kinda before COVID with decreasing food quality, defended them zealously from those who said it was a nasty place to eat, and anxiously awaited the reopening of dine in. Finally our beloved Hunans was back. Alas, we are done. It appears for all the asthetic improvements, proper food handling was not included. Our last meal from there on Tuesday August 29, 2023 resulted in the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced. I know it was Hunans cause I hadn't not had anything but a protein shake that day and the only thing my husband and I both ate was our take out meal from there. 18 hours of on my knees and other lovely ways of my body desperately purging. Never again. Eat at own risk.

6/28/2021...update. They now only offer takeout and they are up-charging food orders. I ordered an entrée and asked for fried rice and was up-charged for the rice. An entrée with a chicken leg appetizer and a small ice tea to go cost over $27.00. Original Post...When this place is good the food is fantastic. Sometimes it dissapoints. I find myself going back often enough to give it a favorable rating.

My family got $90 worth of take out from here on Tuesday evening. My husband ordered pan fried noodles with vegetables. He immediately said the food tasted off and stopped eating. About an hour later he became violently ill. He threw up probably 15 times throughout the night and early morning of Wednesday.it was the only thing he ate all day. When he called to tell the restaurant, they blew him off and told us it wasn’t them. The quality of the food has been going down for a long time, I imagine the kitchen isn’t very clean. We won’t be ordering from here again and suggest you don’t either.

Egg rolls slightly filled and tasted old. Soup was good thats about it. Had to call a few times to get an answer and when speaking seemed annoyed. Will never choose to eat here again.

This was my first time here, we walked in no hello no greeting rude customer service and was told there would be no service, they told us dining room is open but no service for customers, food will be in to go boxes and there are cans and bottles of water for sale. The menu was on a table taped looking over it I just plates that I was familiar with I ordered 4 items, 1 order of sesame chicken, 1 order of orange chicken, 1 combo lomein and crab Rangoons. Total came out to like $62. Food came out my sesame chicken was so spicy I couldn't even eat it, there were pepper seeds on the chicken. The orange chicken for my child has seeds from a pepper on there as well. I informed the lady at the front like hey this is wayyyy to SPICY for me and my child so there a way I can get something else or get a refund? She put her manager on the phone and had her speak to me, the manager said I should have known it was spicy. Any Chinese place I ever been to orange is on the sweet side not spicy side. She offered me half a refund on the plates which I don't feel is reasonable bc I had not eaten anything. Horrible service the food wasn't nasty at all it was too spicy and the service was RIDICULOUS. Will not be back here at all and I hope others see this ridiculousness this establishment runs amongst how they handle problems.
