Kabuki is Westgate is very spacious, contemporary, and relaxing. There are many delicious sushi menu options that are hard to pick. The prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. Thumbs up on the tempura appetizer and the salmon asparagus roll. The service is friendly, but it was surprising that there was no hostess on a weekend during lunchtime. I would definitely come back to try other sushi dishes!

Only here for 2 days and chose to eat here 2 days in a row because we love it so much! Every roll, drink, and app was awesome. We had the pleasure of getting Paulina both days and she's the best!! If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be stopping back.

We visited Kabuki Japanese Restaurant during happy hour. I had the Sake Sangria and Hubby had the Sapporo Draft beer. There were numerous food selections available during happy hour. We share the Sunkissed Roll, Yellowtail Roll, Salmon Roll, Yellowtail Sushi, Salmon Sushi, Mixed Tempura, and Eel Sashimi. Everything tasted fresh and we had just enough food. Highly recommend their happy hour, which runs daily until 6 pm.

Our server Josh was amazing, give this man a raise! This was our first time here and we are used to very flavorful broth, which this place unfortunately didn't have. We first ordered the Tonkatsu ramen but when we didn't like it he offered suggestions of what ramen to get instead and gave us replacements for free. I would recommend the spicy beef or spicy miso ramen!

Absolutely loved our experience at Kabuki! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm and friendly service. The staff were attentive, polite, and made us feel welcome right away. The food was amazing everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you're into sushi, ramen, or bento boxes, there's something delicious for everyone. The ambiance was relaxing and stylish, perfect for a casual meal or a nice dinner out. Clean, comfortable, and well-lit with a great vibe. The location is also very convenient with plenty of parking nearby, making it easy to get to. Highly recommend Kabuki for anyone looking for great Japanese food with excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere!

Had the pleasure of a date night here. Was worried I wasn't able to get seated in a timely matter so came at 7aand was seated right away on a Friday. Waiter was awesome with his recommendations. Drinks were strong and good saki bombs perfect. The pork belly was delicious. Overall perfect. A definite must come back. 2 apps , 2 rolls , 2 drinks , saki bombs came out to 98.00 without tip not bad at all

Absolutely loved it! The food tastes amazing and the presentation of it as well is very nice to look at. Keep in mind that there will be a waiting time due to social distancing, maybe short staff, and the time to make your food taste amazing rather than just throwing it out there. The servers are always going back and forth making sure everyone has everything they need so please be patient with them as they are only trying their best. They have multiple people to serve other than just one table specifically. 😊

This was my first time eating here. My friend suggested it. He paid so I was ready to eat. I ordered the pork cutlet and it was amazing. Sorry crunchy and full of flavor. The miso soup and salad were a perfect pairing. It also was delicious with a Sapporo. I got the chicken fried rice too. We also had some sushi rolls. All good food.

This place surprised me I wasn’t expecting the food to be this delicious , but it was. I ordered the dream table which was short ribs, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki,, tempura mix, and a few other things, I also ordered the toasted sesame chicken, which was very delicious. Our server Juan was awesome. I’m definitely coming back recommend this place !

In search of a restaurant for dinner that didn't have an hour wait, we made our way to the arena end of the gateway complex. We were seated right away, even though the restaurant was busy. I enjoyed the new menu options available on a separate menu and decided to go with the breaded salmon with sweet potatoes. My husband got tge crab salad and my son went for a few beautiful rolls. We all enjoyed our meals. The staff was great and the waitress was attentive.

Delicious!! There was no wait time and were seated promptly which was very surprising because it was the weekend. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was very enjoyable. Just looking at these photos still makes my mouth water, I recommend everyone try it!

Sat at the Bar, it's a fun experience watching the chefs making the food infront of you. They even recommended plates for us to try. Best roll was the Kabuki. The fish is very fresh, coming back very soon!

First time here, it was a little busy, but were seated right away. Our server, Josh, was excellent, despite how busy he was, our water was always full and even brought soup and salad to my friend even though his dish didn't come with it. The food was delicious, especially the sautéed asparagus. Would definitely come back!

Amazing restaurant! We love the atmosphere, very cool vibe and super fast service! The food is amazing and the sashimi is fresh with thick cuts when served. I highly recommend this Kabuki to Sushi & Sashimi goers, you will not be disappointed. 5 stars way up! Thank you so much we will be back very soon!

Kabuki is one of my favorite SoCal Japanese restaurants, and I was happy to find this location. Service was great, as was the food. Started with tuna and salmon nigiri. Really like their Wasabi that quickly dissolved in the soy sauce. The sun-kissed roll was fabulous. Loved the sauce the roll was plated on. Also ordered a roll that has truffle in the name that was also tasty.

I can't express how happy I am that I visited this place. My family of 5 were very happy customers throughout our entire experience. The food was excellent, good size portions even for the kids, the bathrooms were cool but made me so dizzy haha, and our waitress (Paulina) was amazing. We loved every dish and I especially loved the Ramen Paulina recommended (Spicy Miso with Pork belly! YUM!). Wish we had a Kabuki Japanese Restaurant back home. I strongly recommend visiting this place.

Wow! Besides being busy, our server was very helpful. I was happily surprised by their happy hour specials! Also got some amazing matcha ice cream with a birthday note 🥰 This is a super fun vibe with great food and the happy hour prices are unbeatable. I definitely recommend this spot

Came in to celebrate my 2nd dads birthday... Jada and the fabulous Bao made the experience amazing. We ended up spending 3 hours just hanging out with them and laughing the whole time . By far the best experience at a restaurant I've had in a long time

Sat at the bar for a really solid late night happy hour starting at 8:30. Sushi came out relatively fast and they were generous with the fish. Prices were super reasonable so we ordered pretty deep into the menu and was happy about everything. Bartender definitely worked hard taking care of us. I'll be back

Our server Carson provided exceptional service! We have been here several times and Carson has always provided exemplary services! Made an awesome iced mango green tea! Food was great as usual. Definitely will be returning. Thank you Carson for an awesome dinner experience!

Excellent sushi! Our party of 6 ordered a variety of appetizers and rolls and shared all around. The garlic edamame, Flaming Mushrooms and the Mando roll were the favorites. Waitress was good about checking in and refilling drinks. I can't wait to return ❤️

I don't often go for chain restaurants, but I'm a big fan of Kabuki. I've been to a couple of their California spots and now two in Arizona, including this most recent visit. You can find the restaurant on the second floor of the Westgate Entertainment area. The best part about Kabuki is its happy hour, which offers a great variety of food and drinks at excellent prices. Also, my server Bree was absolutely outstanding.

B
Brandon Pickett

Not too bad! The quality of the sushi was pretty good. The standard Philly Roll was very well balanced. Our favorite roll though was Albacore Crunch Roll. The ponzu sauce and onions were perfect with the roll. The fried gyoza was actually crispy too. Both drinks were fantastic. If I had to pick one it would be the Kyuritini. The elderflower and cucumber was just a fantastic sip. The service was a little slow, but the feel of the restaurant was welcoming and kid friendly.

Food and service was excellent! This restaurant can get extremely busy if there is an event at either Desert Diamond Arena or State Farm Stadium. I deducted a star because although the bathroom appeared to be fairly clean, the cleaning checklist on the door was not filled out for the entire day. Edit: I wanted to add that the happy hour menu is a GREAT value!!!

Sat at the bar as it was open seating and there was a wait for a table. Drinks tasted good. Service was great. Food arrived in a timely manner. We chose the kabuki sushi plate and another sushi plate. Both very pretty and tasty if you enjoy sushi.

L

The food is always good here. We had a couple of rolls and the seafood udon. Each Kabuki looks different. This restaurant has a lot of decor, walls, doorways that are not on right angles. Its very unsettling and gave me vertigo. The bathroom main wall is also at a slant.

Used to come here when it first opened it was our favorite sushi spot. Finally made it back in after a few years and the food was delicious! Would've gave 5 stars but the service lacked. Our server was very nice and was doing her best considering how busy they were. They were definitely short staffed on a Sunday evening.

I'll begin by saying that my review is based on eating at a premium Japanese restaurant, not your garden-variety Japenese or Asian cuisine. The prices are so high that it demands a review for an exceptional eatery. Also, this review comes from one who has eaten excellent sushi and other Japanese foods all over the world. That said, if you want to have enjoyable food, this place is good. You'll have nice flavors and portions to satisfy most diners. If you go at lunch and get the specials, it makes it less painful to the pocketbook. However, even getting all lunch special items and not having drinks, two of us dropped $70 on 3 items. When you come at a normal time, expect $40-50 per person just on food. First, we had side salads. These were a 6/10. They were small but had a pretty nice herbal/vinegar dark sauce. Presentation was standard. There was nothing else interesting, but the ingredients were high quality. Next, we had a spicy tuna roll and a nigiri sampler. This item was Sushi Moriawase. The tuna rolls were a 4/10 and were barely suitable for a mid range restaurant. The tuna was not spicy, and though the meat portion was generous, the overall flavor profile was unimpressive. There was no pop or good flavor blend. The Nori was unacceptable. It was so tough that it actually made it hard to chew. The nagiri was the best item we ate. The meat was very high caliber and cut well, aside from the shrimp that wasn't as tender as a premium offering. Ity was a 7/10. The tuna, salmon, albacore, and yellowtail were set on a perfect size bed of rice and we so tender that they came apart with almost no force. I give these a 9/10. The texture was awesome, ranking amongst the best locations in the city. Still, it clearly is not the best. Last, we had spicy miso ramen. Presentation was okay but on the weak side. I give the Ramen a 6/10, as you can get better, cheaper Ramen all over the city. The spice was very weak, and there was no offering of the spicy sauce to heat it up. The miso flavor was good but not great. The ratio of Ramen to toppings was off, leaning far too heavily toward the Ramen. It gave the bowl a cheap feeling. The pork was also not sufficiently cooked. it was okay, but not that delightful tenderness of a properly cooked slice that melts into your Ramen bite. Sprouts, mushrooms and the other toppings were likewise too small. Service was top tier. The employees here are very good, attending to you, the meal pace and any needs. I was very impressed with their kindness and competence. Otherwise, the atmosphere of the place is good and the design is fun. A trip to the bathroom is a must so you can enjoy the off tangent walls and tile! It is situated nicely on the second floor right in front of the arena and looks out over the courtyard. They have good seating inside and out, along with a well stocked bar. At the end of the day, a trip is good, but not particulary interested in returning.

Food was good, lunch special was decent priced. Biggest issue I had was service, they took 20 minutes to get me a drink that I ordered when I sat down. Waitress left and never came back after dropping off my drink, I had to flag down another employee to cash out. Would not recommend if you don’t have an hour plus to spend sitting around.

We were looking for a place to eat and decided to stop by this place. I was excited because I love Japanese food. The food was alright, not the greatest. The ramen was mid, and the takoyaki was okay, also a lil overpriced. This is my opinion. You be the judge.

M
Maibee S

My family and I went during lunch time. It wasn't busy but it still took us about 15 minutes just to get our water. It took about 5 minutes to get a fork after asking for one for our ramen,, and the waitress never once checked on us or asked how the food was or anything. I read and heard a lot of great things about this place and the service being awesome but I got the exact opposite of all that. The food was just okay in my opinion, my boyfriend really enjoyed the ramen. The cocktails were extremely heavy handed when it came to the alcohol. All in all, it was just okay. My man, son and I all agree we won't be going back.

I would have rated establishment much higher, but the climate control was horrible. It's never fun eating dinner while sweating. The only reason why we stayed was because the food was very good. I understand we arrived at the tail-end business hours, but that's no reason to slack off servicing the customers needs. Overall, with the food as good as it was I will consider train Kabuki Japanese restaurant again.

Was looking for a great ramen place, the Tonkostu Ramen was not developed enough and the pork belly was very overcooked dry and chewy. It left much to be desired. The side salad and banana tempura were the better items of the evening. As for the atmosphere, bussing and dirty tables everywhere. Will still be looking for a Ramen house for a true Tonkotsu.

Came here on a Thursday afternoon and caught the tail end of their lunch menu (11am-4pm). No one was at the front to greet us when we came in, the place had about 6 table occupied and a larger party of about 8 people. We were eventually seated and waited for a bit before a server came to our table and informed us he would be our server, then awhile after, another server comes to inform us they will be out server... exactly, confusing. We finally place an order about 15 minutes after being seated. We all had the ninja deluxe with shrimp fried rice as the server informed us that was an option, aside from white or brown rice. Just a heads up people, that will cost you, whether your server informs you or not. For 3 sides of shrimp fried rice was an extra $5. Regardless, the food was good, the tempura wasnt dripping in oil, the chicken was lean, the salad was fresh and the California roll was well made, but it didn't come with a side of wasabi, which we are used to when we lived in the PNW. It's a bit overpriced because of it's location, about $26/person from their lunch menu. I would get take out for sure, but the service could use some assistance. 11/08/2023 My husband ordered dinner for delivery as a surprise - the spicy chicken udon was okay, there were various strains of mushrooms and the dish as a whole wasn't spicy. The gyoza was good, sushi/rolls were fine but the scoops of tuna on top did lack a bit of flavor.

We visited on Valentines Day and had a disappointing experience. Hostess was really friendly and helpful. Service was really slow although our server was a fun character when he did turn up! Sashimi was not all fresh. Vibe of the restaurant was quite flat. We are unlikely to be back.

My mom and I were the only one's there for about a half hour after they opened. The waitress was terrible, not rude or anything just unavailable. Our food took forever to come out and then it was cold or room temperature at best. With no one there you'd figure the tempura would come right out of the fryer. The food was about an 8/10. Was just really disappointed. 😞 EDIT: Interestingly enough, my mom and I went back for lunch today, about a month later and to my surprise, it was exactly the same. Took 15 minutes to get greeted at the table, another 15 to get water and hot tea. 25 minutes to get our food and it was room temperature, not even the tempura was hot. Our server Bao had them re heat it but why does it keep happening? Bao was a great server, I question where management is that should be keeping an eye on everything and especially the kitchen. I have no desire to go out of my way to come here anymore.

D
Dani Priest

I was so disappointed with our experience! We frequently go to Kabuki in Tempe and was really expecting the food and everything to be the same. It was NOT. Our server was pleasant but the food was just not it unfortunately. My baked roll was cold. Food coming out poorly timed and missing items. I wouldn't go to this location again, even for a second chance. Drive to Tempe if you want Kabuki!

N
Nan TL

Food: Food was below average to mediocre. The beef in the beef teriyaki was extremely chewy, like chewing a piece of rubber. The chef had cut the beef incorrectly, making the piece of beef even chewier. Service: We came in for lunch around 12:40pm and there were about 3-4 tables but It took 10 minutes before the waiter showed up at our table to take our drink order. Then it took 20 minutes for the food to come out.

C
Cheryl Miller

First and last time I will eat there. There was 3 of us in the party. My son has ordered sushi. They forgot the sauce that goes with it. For starters. Then they bring 2 of us our food, 20 minutes later they after we ask for the food 2 times. They brought it. Told them just bring a to go box. It was sad.

M
Michael Brill

I want to say that the wait staff was great, they were very cordial and regularly checked up on us. Kelly(?) did a fantastic job. My complaints are mainly about the food and pricing. My fiancé and I found 3 separate hairs in our food and utensils. I ordered tea and was expecting - for four dollars - a pot with some loose leaf that I could serve myself. I, instead, received a tea bag. For four dollars. The food itself was fine, it came out suspiciously quickly considering we ordered chicken and I have no idea how one cooks, prepares, and dishes chicken in less than 10 minutes without having it pre-prepared. If it is genuinely made to order then kudos. Regardless of how this place presents itself, if you're coming for the food consider going elsewhere unless you would like a 20 dollar sushi roll and sub-par, tepid eatery.

H
Hyzenthlay

The restrooms are a safety hazard to people with vertigo and equilibrium problems. The rest of the restaurant is normal, but the restrooms are modified to appear like some trendy illusion funhouse. The tiles are placed slanted, and even some of the walls are slanted. I think the floor may have been slanted, but as someone with the previously mentioned health concerns, I couldn't say for sure. The workers were very friendly. However, the food is overpriced. I paid $8 for 11 slivers of fries. The "rice bowls" are definitely rice bowls: huge bowls of rice sprinkled with a little meat. The food is delicious, but it is not worth going back to this place again for it.

D
Dannie Alize

As great as this place has been past visits, it was completely expected to be the same once again. It was decidedly not. We came for our mom's birthday and it was definitely a dinner to remember. Our father got the Love Table platter and it arrived stone cold. Someone else got a chicken+beef platter that arrived long after everyone else's food and was also stone cold. The waiter was no where to be seen and we had to get the attention of someone else running around. The Shrimp Krab Udon Pasta was also ordered and it failed to have any crab in it. When that was pointed out it was stated that the cook said it was in the plate and heavily implied that we were lying and already ate it. The options were to pay extra to have it included in the plate or to have the plate taken away in its entirety. A chicken teriyaki plate came with the wrong rice bowl. It was only after the manager came that we got refills. Said manager also placed the blame wherever she could. It was entirely disheartening for this visit to be lacking both in service and quality.

S
Stephanie Johnson

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. My husband has a serious avocado allergy, and despite informing the waitress multiple times, a roll containing avocado was still served to our table. Because we were celebrating a friend’s birthday, we didn’t want to cause a scene, but my husband’s throat began to swell and we had to leave early. Spending over $100 and not having a food allergy taken seriously is extremely stressful and concerning. For that reason, we will not be returning. I also felt that the portion sizes were quite small for the price.

T
Tony Huynh

Sushi was not as expected on the photo they presented on the menu. The food’s portion was so tiny that my two-year-old was able to fit in her mouth, with no problem. And she tiny. Food took a long time to come out where the waiter tried to avoid us and we have to ask others for assistance. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone but if your baby likes a bad snack. This is the place to go. With a high price.
