Late night pizza spot! BigO served its purpose. We went looking for a good slice of pizza and they had just what we needed.
So good! The flavors are epic! We got delivery…it was super quick and delicious. There is something special about the bacon flavor on the supreme-it hits just right, crust is phenomenal, and the pineapple was juicy chunks not tiny tidbits -not your average piece of pizza 🍕
This pizza was great! I got the supreme and the bread was fluffy and cooked to perfection and the toppings were so tasty. The cheese almost slid off the slice it was so good and the breadsticks were a great compliment to the pizza! Get there early if you want a seat.
Yesss! This place is a yes! The food is wonderful. We had quite the variety and was not disappointed with any of it. Service was good. Our girl was very accommodating. Good drink selection. It was just an overall great choice and I'm so happy we found this spot.
Big O's was a place I ate at when I was student at a nearby college. My friends introduced me to the place and I hadn't been back in years (8+) but always remembered their amazing calzone after all this time. Recently I was back and it tasted even better than I remember! Their marinara sauce is out of this world (scrape to the bottom good) and the tomatoes and garlic tasted so fresh and fragrant. If you get their calzone, I highly recommend you try Italian sausage as one of the meats. It has SO MUCH FLAVOR and doesn't quite taste like any other sausage I've had before. The calzones are really loaded, you could probably get two meals out of one. I got mine with Italian sausage, pepperoni and tomatoes. I thought the tomatoes might make it soggy (I just needed a least one veg in there) but it was not soggy at all (guessing mine was cut open at the top to prevent this?). The calzone was perfectly crisp yet soft on the outside and the cheese oozing on the inside. I'm salivating just thinking about eating this again. The garlic knots appetizer was also tasty and the garlic magic oil they put on everything is also really good. I hadn't tried their pizza, but if their calzone is anything to go off of, I'm sure I'll be happy with either. Last came here on a Friday and they had room for us that evening. Tables are spaced apart comfortably. Cool spot. Looking forward to coming back!
It was our first time and it cozy vibe. Authentic pizza, ordered a 12' with three toppings and a 6 piece cheesy bread. I'm a pizza lover and this pizza was just what I needed. The staff was very nice and quick to take my order, on Thursday they offer 1/2 off appetizers. Also from 7pm -9pm live band, open mic.... Super groovy vibes. Would come back again.
Excellent pizza!! A very convenient and quick walk from any of the downtown hotels. Good service along with a nice hometown atmosphere. The best choice for pizza in the city center area.
Good cheap greasy pizza by the slice or the whole pie. Beers and quick service. My kids and I were more than satisfied.
Such a cute little place, the pizza is to die for. Gotta come back and try the drinks! Service was really good.
Best slices in GR and great service as well in my experience. I have loved pizza my whole life and am originally from Chicago. So my expectations are high. But skip Vito's and come here for slice and get a drink while you're at it.
We found Big O while looking for a place to grab a bite before a concert at Van Andel Arena. We absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. We will be back on our next trip to Grand Rapids.
Props to Big O Pizza.!! We were in town for baseball. I called asking if 38 of us could come eat.?!?!. They said, "Absolutely, we will make it work." We walked there. Tables were set. Staff was so organized. Our large group of 11 families were treated so well. Pizza was fantastic and came out fast.!! Vert reasonably priced on the food n drinks. This place has their stuff together. Thank you SO much for hosting our dinner on such short notice.
Got the gluten free goat cheese pizza with the staff recommendation of the calabrian honey. It is now my favorite combo. Staff was super nice and didn't have to wait long at all. Going to make this place a tradition everytime I come to the city.
This place is the absolute best. The service was fantastic, and Jacob did an awesome job making sure our order was right and we were happy. The kitchen staff works extremely hard, it was 1:30 at night and they still were popping pizza’s in and getting people fed. I will definitely be back.
Really good pizza here! Had a regular pepperoni... sauce is some of the best I've had in a long time!
This was our first time here. Will definitely come back. We brought our young kids and were very comfortable with the family safe atmosphere. The cheesy bread sticks were some of the best we've ever had. The pizza was excellent. The staff was fun and friendly.
I’m a vegetarian, I ordered the deed head with pesto and spinach. It was beautiful. The combination of flavors…PARTY In your mouth. Also the coconut pineapple soda topped it off. This pizza gave me life….vegetarians do yourself a favor and order from here.
An awesome place! Awesome staff, especially Bernie! He helped my friend Tom Wynn out! Went out of his way, opened for him, and gave him a good price on pizza to help feed the homeless! Thank you very much Bernie! Thank you very much Tom! Keep doing yalls thing
This late night bar & pizzeria is awesome! If you want a slice, a whole pie or a drink/beer, try this place. Service is great and staff very friendly. Highly recommended in downtown Grand Rapids.
Love this place! The pizza and garlic knots are awesome! The vibe is chill and the drinks are great. The kitchen manager makes the best drinks (they covered for the bartender and damn absolutely killed it!!!!) If you’re in Grand Rapids and craving pizza I highly recommend!!!
Great pizza, nice crisp to the crust. We went there on a date night and it was great. Nice atmosphere. Our server was excellent. We didn't catch her name but she did a great job.
Perhaps the best pizza place downtown and even a top contender for best in the GR metro area. A cozy place with exactly the right atmosphere for a city pizza place. It'll be very very hard to find a better pizza than what's offered here.
Stopped in for a pizza and drinks after the shane gillie show at the arena, this place was PACKED! Our server was killing it, she was still had a smile on her face, checked in the whole dinner, even with how busy she was. We got garlic knots and a BBQ chicken pizza and it was fantastic, the teamwork between employees, the food, everything was freaking amazing! Way to go Big O, would highly recommend this place!
Couldn't of been a better place to go into with being new to the area and only there a short amount of time the service was quick and awesome exactly what I didn't expect but workers was very uplifting and nice wasn't rude but very helpful but it's a nice tucked away little spot to get a quick slice of pizza wish I would of had more time to get something different off the menu but maybe next time keep up the good work and I'll definitely be back
Their pizza was truly the cherry on top for our visit to GR. Cute little pizzeria feel, and delicious pies and equally great cocktails.
Had the best miller lite of my life at this bar. Pizza was pretty good. Was going to get a slice to go but ended up staying.
We usually eat here during Art Prize. We decided to head downtown for WoW. Unfortunately for my family, it was Valentines Day. Every place we stopped at had a long waiting list. With my children growing hungry and impatient, we were walking this way and decided to stop in. We must have just missed a rush as every table needed to be bussed. But they cleaned one up at sat us. They brought the cheesebread out before the pizza so my kids could start eating. The cheesebread is so good. Even the crust. Which strangely reminds me of my homemade tortillas. The pizza is good as well and I love whatever brand of soda they carry. However, my favorite of this experience was our server Alex. (I think that was her name) She was very kind. At the end of the day, she even gave my kids a Valentine! It was just one of those sticky hand things with a card, but that was awesome. We don't go downtown much, but when we're back, we want her again!
If i could give the service a 100/5 i would. Bernie the owner is so lovely, and his staff is so sweet. Especially the bartender with long brown hair, she is so awesome!! We had a fantastic night because of their kindness and welcoming energy. Thank you so much for making the night fantastic guys💖
Big O Pizza and Booze offers a different but amazing pizza experience. The basement-level restaurant has a unique charm that's quite inviting. When we arrived, there were only a handful of other guests, some at a table and others at the bar, clearly and loudly enjoying their drinks. The setup is mostly self-service, and unfortunately, a few menu items, like the recommended Cuban sandwiches, weren't available during our visit. So, we opted for pizza instead. The food and drinks are brought to your table, but there's no further service after that. The cheese bread was great, loaded with cheese and just the right amount of burnt crust to add a nice smokiness. My BBQ chicken pizza was a bit lacking in toppings (I didn t stumble over any pineapple), but the dough was cross and fantastic. Overall, there's some room for improvement, especially in the toppings department, but the unique atmosphere and the booze make it worth a visit. It's a solid 4-star experience!
Good pizza and drinks in a casual space in downtown Grand Rapids. The sourdough pizza crust was very good. I appreciate the tofu ricotta but wish the menu was not clear about vegan options. My vegan pizza with the tofu ricotta was good - I did the BYO option. I thought the menu was a little larger before going, but it worked out. Their drinks are also good as well. Reasonably priced. The staff and bartenders are very friendly as well!
I would’ve given Big O 5 ⭐️’s but the service could’ve been better on this occasion. What I ordered : 12” Brando Pizza What I liked: Crust ✅ even though this pizza is topping heavy, the crust was crispy and had a nice, light flavour to it. Sauce ✅ the pizza sauce was really tasty. Overall the pizza was pretty good. The combination of toppings gave the pizza a nice flavour. The crust was light and not too doughy like some places. I would order from here again. What could’ve been better: Service ❌ the service could’ve been better. The server didn’t ask me how the pie was or if I needed anything. I was the only person in the restaurant for the majority of my time there but I felt like she was more interested in hanging out with her colleagues in the kitchen. If I returned, I would likely get takeout. It may have just been an off day service wise but they are turning out a good product, so check them out if you’re in the area!! 💯
4.0/5 Stars This will be my second time trying this pizza location. The pizza increased to a 4.1. It's good, but I feel like it's more of a "I'm drunk, pizza sounds good" pizza. The sauce was very general, nothing special. The crust was a bit soggy with grease and was not the best. On the side note, the salads are very fresh but have a lot of pepper on it, but it didn't take away from how fresh the salad was!
Service was slow and seemed kinda bothered. Otherwise, the food is good and it was an ok place to hang out.
Used to eat here a lot when it was on the west side. Was a great place! Today 1st time back since moving away 15 years ago. Pizza tasted good (pictured). Awesome sauce. Ordered the thin crust pizza with green olives and pepperoni. The food and service we're good. Sadly the pizza was burned (pictured) on the bottom. Also we sat at a window with a broken Neon sign and broken glass just sitting there (pictured) Would be 5 starts if there was evidence that they cared about the place more.
I'm a level 6 google guide and I hate giving bad reviews, however, it's been a while since I have been in there. A few years to be exact. So I was expecting the same atmosphere and quality of food and that wasn't the case. The $3 pizza slice had been under the heat lamps since lunch, they only had one shot of tequila left, and the cheese bread was burnt... The photo attached is very generous for the service we received. I don't think I'll be returning... Sorry just not for me
Good pizza by the slice when you can get it. Most of their beer drafts are empty (only 2 of 6 are working). Completely out of pizza by 10:20pm, not sure how you run out of pizza. I would go back, but its a weird mix of a dive bar that has pizza (maybe). Not worth going out of the way for.
A tad on the expensive side but good pizza. We had a surprise finding onions in our personal pizzas and the both of us HATE onions. I guess it's just in their sauce, it didn't say that on the menu on their site anywhere that I saw. It was our first time having their pizza and most likely the last.
We used to get pizza from here a lot for my work parties. Sometimes it would come undercooked, so minus points there. The pizza with everything including artichokes was pretty good though, if cooked properly.
Went there recently and nothing was quite right. The girl bartending/serving seemed like she was always doing something else, but with 2-3 tables only i'm not sure what. Had to ask multiple times for drinks and really try to grab her attention. There looked to be two other guys doing pizza runs or something, couldn't exactly tell what Friends complained the food tasted off. Not entirely sure what it was. For a name that says "Big O Pizza and Booze" it's amazing they don't have staples like Captain Morgan. They were out of quite a few items as well. Not an overall bad experience, but definitely doesn't make me want to come back any time soon.
Came in on a Sunday night with a 7 top - There was another large top in the restaurant but for most of the time we were there we had to get up and grab everything ourselves (napkins, serving utensils, had to ask the bar for refills) Honestly, it seemed like our server was the only one on the floor and nobody was helping her out at all, this place could do with better help across the board with other staff members helping out the server, any time I asked anyone for anything I kept getting a deer in headlights look. Overall food was solid
What a bummer… beyond floppy crust… ended up eating this pizza mostly with a spoon.
Ordered a pizza, and got almost zero toppings, 12 price of pineapple barely sprinkled on it Edit: refund was provided
Decent price, pizza and bread were ok but really thin, floppy, and extremely greasy.
We ordered a cheesy bread that came out burnt. Returned in and it came out bland. Like no butter seasoning anything. The pizza is really just blah. The sauce taste like a plain tomato sauce or paste. The cheese was bland. No oregano, no garlic, really no taste. Dough was ok, but really just bland again. The Big O should probably be a big Zero for the return visit.
Wow, where do I start? The "hand-tossed" pizza was basically thin crust but limp. I ordered pineapple as a topping, and if lucky, I got two pieces at MOST per slice. I ordered pineapple, not cheese! The pizza sauce is sour. The pizza was super greasy. It was so gross I could barely bring myself to ask for a takeout box. Will NEVER go back, and I encourage you to avoid. If you want pizza, go to Peppino's! Hope this establishment is reading my review, and no, I'm not going to waste my time and taste buds going back there even if they offer to "make it right." Look at this joke
First and foremost, though I don't eat here often I have never had an experience like tonight. This was a rather large ($125) delivery order to myself and some coworkers. Other than the fact that we're only 1 turn and a 4 minute walk away the delivery person got lost and had to call for directions so by the time the food got here it was pretty cold. Only 1 meal was acceptable, the rest, including the pizza were not up to par and definitely not what we've had in the past from here. Meal One: Portabello Stuffed Ravioli -though it tasted alright (not amazing) as you can see in the picture it was only 5 pieces of ravioli, no bigger than any other (upscale included) Italian restaurant I've ever been to; yet they charged $15. $3 per piece of ravioli. I measured the dish so you can see it is served in a small dish and not a ton of food it was the smallest and lightest (weight) meal that came tonight, yet most expensive. Ridiculous. Meal Two: As described on their website -Chicken Ala Parmigiana -Lightly breaded chicken breast baked & smothered in marinara sauce then topped with mozzarella and served over spaghetti. *** Well, if you look at the picture clearly their definition of "smothered" and our definition are very different as there was almost no marinara sauce on this dish. Would love to say the taste was fantastic in spite of, but alas I cannot. The garlic bread that came with these meals was very hard and partially burnt, I didn't even eat mine because biting into it was too difficult. The pizza, oh my. Though one coworker says the crust was the way a thin crust would be in Italy I do not know and felt that it was burnt, even curled up in some spots, with not near enough cheese, which was almost see through on the one pizza and the Chicken Cesar pizza literally looked like a burnt, baked crust with a Cesar salad thrown on top of it, not exaggerating at all! Wish I had taken a photo of that one, it was kind of comical. One coworker had the Chicken Ala Gina and said it was great, so at least one of us had a good dinner.
Pizza was disgusting, burnt and undercooked, same t5ith the garlic knots. I'm not sure how they got even 2 stars to be honest. A frozen pizza from Dollar general would have been better. Do not spend your money here.
Went here on a whim, never will return! Only 3 tables were taken when we walked in, waited over ten to even be talked to, cheese pizza was uneatable! The caprese didn't have chicken as they ran out and made it workout telling me first, very cold inside (dress warm) so finally we just said we wanted everything to go! .
I ordered a supreme pizza on doordash only made 1 change to the order. When I got the pizza it was only cheese. No toppings. I got a cheese pizza but paid for a supreme. Ridiculous, then the hostess on the phone told me the gm handles door dash and there was nothing she could do.... so I just am stuck with this I guess?
Big O? More like Big NO. Honestly, I’ve had frozen grocery store pizzas that put this place to shame. The crust came out burnt and thinner than my patience, the toppings were basically playing hide and seek, and somehow this masterpiece of sadness cost me $50. Fifty. Dollars. For cardboard with attitude. And the service? Chef’s kiss of awful. Our waitress didn’t even greet us — just yeeted the menus onto the table like she was competing in the Menu Toss Olympics, then vanished. Explaining anything? Nah, apparently that costs extra. This wasn’t just a bad meal, it was a full-blown hostage situation with overpriced hipster “food.” If disappointment had a flavor, it would taste exactly like Big O’s pizza. Never again.
