Totally my new hangout for anytime I’m down by the battery or headed to Governors Island. Apart from a deli, it’s hard to find decent and affordable food down in the Battery area. The people were sweet as hell, the music was loud, the burgers were great, and the price was perfect for this part of Manhattan. What else could I ask for?
Great spot for a easy dinner or just a drink after work. Food came out quickly and the staff was attentive.
Very well surprised! In this Irish pub the food is very well prepared, the burgers are with real beef, heinz ketchup and even the pickles are not industrialized. The prices were also fair.
This is without a doubt the greatest bar in NYC. I work close to White Horse and my coworkers and I usually make our way here a couple of times a month. The staff is incredibly friendly. Especially KP and Aimen on the second floor. At this point they know all of our names and orders and make us feel truly welcomed. They have a AIM system and a couple of dart boards which are fun to use. The food is delicious and extremely affordable for the location. The price of the drinks is also very reasonable and one of the reasons we always end up here. They have a beer shot combo for $6 which gets you a 16oz PBR and a shot. I can almost guarantee you that you will not find a better drink deal on the island of Manhattan. The White Horse Tavern is truly a gem in NYC and haven’t found another place like it.
Good sausage special and really relaxing atmosphere. Everyone seemed like locals so it felt like a good spot. Bar person was awesome too.
We stopped into the white horse on Christmas Eve and had a really fun time. I didn’t catch the bartender’s name, but she was very friendly and welcoming, which set the tone right away. The atmosphere was lively and had that classic dive bar charm—it reminded me of old neighborhood bars where everyone feels comfortable and the night unfolds naturally. We had a great time and would definitely return.

Their kitchen excels at food while their staff excels at people. The food quality surprised me completely. All staff members demonstrate sincere warmth. The prices fit the quality perfectly. SIMPLY REMARKABLE.
The White Horse Tavern in FiDi is our favorite pub. The atmosphere is excellent. Sam and Tomas are such kind, accommodating, and generous people that it's worth coming here just for them. The drinks are also excellent and reasonably priced. The food is always delicious and fresh. You always feel very comfortable and well looked after. The whole staff is attentive and helpful without ever feeling pressing or overbearing. Will definitely be back! Highly recommended.
My group of 5 and loved this place! Service was great and we especially enjoyed the wings. Feels like a dive bar. I liked that it wasn’t too crowded and there weren’t large tour groups
Fantastic, small, local owned tavern with great food and drinks. The burgers were great! The pita and hummus was good too! Very small but really delicious food and great service. They sat my family of 5 quickly and food came out quick!
I love visiting Irish pubs, especially those that have such a rich history, like the White Horse Tavern. When entering, you are greeted so warmly by the staff, and the overall atmosphere of the bar is very inviting. Since I now work in the area, I stopped in just for a quick bite and drink, so I just ordered a Dark and Stormy, a Chicken Quesadilla, and the Onion Rings. Everything was really good and the prices here are very decent for this area. They have a good-sized food and drinks menu and plenty of seating on multiple floors. My server, who I unfortunately didn't get her name, was so nice and very attentive throughout my meal. I will definitely make it a point to come back again in the near future for food and drinks.
The place is extremely laid back. It refreshing in a city that doesn't stop. The owners are extremely friendly. The beer is well priced. One of the few places I could order a Miller lite in a city of craft beers. I didn't eat but the menu looks extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area. Second visit: This place is definitely worth the visit if you're in the financial district. The food is excellent. The bartenders are extremely friendly. Super laid back atmosphere. You can feel the history in this place. The building has been there since the 1850's( or so) and is in the approximate location of a bar that was there in 1641. This bar is definitely worth the visit.
Worth your time if you're in Financial District: excellent food, good service & pretty good prices. A lunch for 2 with 3 beers was about $45. Tried: pot roast (excellent), knockwurst & sauerkraut (very good) paired with local draft Beer. P.S. if you're visiting in Winter - Fall, go for house special: PBR & shot combo for $5. PPS. This place has a music jukebox with access via cell - we had great time playing it. The cost is less than $1 for a song.
Leaving a review in regards to my experience hosting a private event here -- the service at White Horse Tavern is phenomenal. I co-hosted a birthday party just under 100 people on the private 3rd floor, which provided plenty of space for people to mingle, sit, and/or dance. The manager, Frank, and all of his staff were very accommodating to make sure our event went smoothly, including: - allocating a couple hours in advance for us to set up decorations - accommodating a custom drinks menu I requested (using liquors offered under their house liquor bar package) - storing any gifts people came with in a separate room for us to pick up on a later date - keeping track of a guest list throughout the event, which helped us a lot in the end for Venmo requests We received so many compliments after our party about how sweet/fun the bartenders were, how comfortable the venue was (private bathrooms and coat hangers!), and how affordable it turned out to be for an open bar event in NYC. If you're looking to host an event for a great deal, I highly recommend White Horse Tavern.
Loved this place. Wonderful hole in wall bar but very clean. Tom the bartender was on point and entertaining! Drink prices are awesome for NYC and the food looked good and will try the Gumbo next time. Music selection was very good and upbeat. This is great place to relax and take the load off your feet
We ate here twice in one day. Went for lunch and had the lunch special, pot roast which was good. We met others there that evening for dinner. Shrimp Po'boy and potato salad was so good. Everyone was happy with their food. I especially liked the music playing, was a great time, great place to hang out with friends for dinner. All the staff we interacted with were great!
