Opinions de Murphy's On the Green Hanover
We showed up with a group of nine. When some of the pasta showed up a bit salty, the owner came over and quickly and cordially took care of it. While the food didn’t blow us away, the owner’s warmth and kindness more than made up for the food. He even brought the kids free t-shirts! We had a lovely evening… and the chicken Parmesan that replaced the salty pasta was delicious
My wife and I had an excellent dinner at Murphy's and can't recommend it enough. She ordered the fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, easily one of the best she's ever had. I went with the pork chop, which was cooked to perfection: juicy, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We were also really impressed with their drink selections. My wife loved exploring their creative and refreshing mocktail menu. It's nice to see so many thoughtful non-alcoholic options. Meanwhile, I appreciated their selection of bourbons. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made for a perfect evening out. We'll definitely be back soon.
We took a moment to relax with lunch this Sunday, and it truly was a wonderful brunch experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our bartender was genuinely attentive and friendly. The pink sunshine drink was absolutely delightful—one of the best I’ve ever tasted! The front of house staff were incredibly personable, making us feel right at home, as if we were visiting our favorite local bar. This stop not only brightened our day but also left us with lasting memories. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting; it was the best dining experience we had during our two weekends in Hanover.
My husband and I went for Sunday brunch and we were so impressed! Our waitress was so kind, our food was outstanding (Eggs Benedict and brisket hash, homemade ice cream for dessert…out of this world), and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We can’t wait to come back for dinner sometime.
Always good food when we come visit my son at Dartmouth. Outdoor seating on a beautiful fall weekend. So many other people also brought their dogs with them. Had the sirloin burger. Similar to a smashburger burger, but less greasy. Place was busy, even at 2 o’clock. Reservations recommended. Wait staff was very friendly. Food ready quickly, less than 10 minutes wait time.
It a wonderful place. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. I had the fish and chips as my dish, a restaurant pick. The fish was flounder lightly battered and the chips we're nicely deep fried but fresh. We had a great chat with the owner Nigel Lemmings both during our meal and as we departed. The restaurant has lots of charm.
Best dining experience I've had at Dartmouth. Ambiance is really nice, and my waiter was super friendly and attentive. Portion sizes are fair. The Murph Burger is the best burger I've had around Dartmouth! Meat is perfectly seasoned, cooked exactly how I requested (med-rare), and the toppings complement the meat well. Would highly recommend Murphy's if looking for good American food!
We were visiting Hanover on a one night layover and read good reviews of Murphy's so gave it a shot. The restaurant is a quaint, small pub with a warm environment. The menu is pretty limited but we all found something we liked, namely the Murphy burger. The burger was good but it was odd that all three members of our party ordered the same thing, their namesake dish, but they got one of them wrong. They forgot the onions and signature sauce on one of the burgers. When we pointed it out the waitress didn't seem to believe us but did fix it. Overall the service was good but definitely not friendly or inviting. The waitress acted as if we were inconveniencing her when we asked about the incorrect dish or when we asked for another drink. Maybe she was having a bad day. The only other comment I have is on their beer selection. Definitely not the best. They had one local IPA and it was meh.
The drinks here are really good. Food is hit or miss, especially with meats. I had a pretty dry steak and dry burger on two separate occasions. Macaroni and cheese was amazing once, and gross every time after (so many bread crumbs and it was flavorless). The desserts are always great. It's a nice bar like atmosphere, upscale in its own way but casual. The service is usually good.
The atmosphere was great! Service also wonderful. But the food? Sigh. I got fish & chips and was handed a plate of dark brown (overcooked) fish and nearly burnt fries. It came with carrot slaw and I got maybe a tablespoon of it. The amount of fish/chips was also quite small and looked like a young child’s portion. The fish was also BERY salty and hard to eat. It’s a shame the food was so bad bc the service and atmosphere were great but there’s no way we’ll return.
Went after football game. Luckily we had reservations. Food was poor (at best). Our steaks were just plain bad. Both potatoes and Brussels sprouts fried and sitting in pool of oil. Server was new but forgot several things, likely overwhelmed with crowd. Alums behind us in stadium tried to talk us out of going. Wish we had heeded their warning.
we go there almost every term and this year they started charging automatic 20% tip to a table larger than 5, and we were not aware of this ending up paying 40%… oh well. we went there again anyway, but plating and ingredients quality differed when we went there (it varies from time to time, not constant). Here is the pretty plating though✨ Foods are generally not salty/too greasy/too sweet, therefore might feel too blend, but I guess it’s healthier this way
A local favorite. Unfortunately, the cocktail menu has no consistency between nights and bartenders, and a Tangueray tonic is $15. I cannot recommend this place to the unsuspecting visitor. Edit: I was served a double Tanqueray tonic, which makes sense for the price.
Quiet evening, only a handful at the bar while we were there and one or two high tops. Ate at the bar - no “hey, we have some beer specials fol 4-6pm…”, if we’d not noticed a small sign on the way in, we’d not have known. Ordered wings to start, split the order with two of the options - per the bartender’s suggestion. Came out incorrectly. The celery and dipping sauce were on a piece of lettuce that was “close to rotten” wilted, and the celery sticks were 1 - 1 1/2 inch long toothpicks. My burger sat in full view in the window while a cook, two waitstaff, and the bartender watched the Celtics game on a TV three feet away. Ordering it medium means you get it very well done instead, and the fries were dark and crunchy. No point in trying to say anything to the staff because nobody checked on us to see how the meal was. ‘Had to ask for the check and after waiting several more minutes, we both stood from our seats. Finally called out to the bartender who wished us a good night. We asked if he’d be willing to run my card first so we could pay. Sigh. Wish the Celtics had lost just to annoy them since the game and chatting among themselves was more important than checking in on 2 of the remaining 4 patrons at the bar.
Ate there three nights ago. Waitress forgot about my drink order which tasted like watered down soda water, the harvest salad was terrible- I couldn’t find anything other than some kale and terrible dressing, the white chocolate brownie was good the ice cream was not creamy but icey. The two pasta dishes were okay- very little sauce and no extra parm or even pepper. Would not recommend at all. Spent 170.00 very disappointing.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was disappointing enough that I feel obligated to share it. The owner that left me extremely uncomfortable. Some of the comments made toward members of our group felt inappropriate and discriminatory. Whether intentional or not, it created an unwelcoming atmosphere that no customer should have to experience. A restaurant's success isn't just about the food - it's about professionalism, accountability, and creating a space where all guests feel respected. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I hope the management takes feedback seriously and makes meaningful changes.
Terrible Terrible ! Steak tips like rubber, served barely warm with grilled carrots that were raw and burnt. A small piece of Grilled Salmon was passable quality but served with tiny portion of zucchini that was barely even cooked. Even the Beers were warm. Never again. Total rip off.
Walked in , hostess too busy talking to her friends, making rude comments about people making u turn to park, waited over 5 minutes to be seated. We walked out she never even noticed as she was still having conversation with her friends sitting by the window. To prove we were there, one of the patrons had a multicolored walker against wall, 3 people in party , and a semi eaten looked like sausage in the dish was on the table.
