Opinions de SanSai Hawthorne
I had the miso soup, spicy tuna roll and chicken with yokisoba noodles and all were excellent! I was most impressed with how fast this was ready. Very tasty and filling!
My two fav Sansai locations closed so I'm hoping this will stay open for a long time. Fish is expensive so expect food prices here to be higher than crappy fast food. This Sansai offers more than just plates/bowls of the usual salmon/beef/chicken; they offer ramen, dumpling soup and udon as well as Poke! My usual is the salmon plate with no rice and three salads plus a grilled veggies skewer. It's around $18 but worth it considering what you get compared to other unhealthy fastfood options. Parking gets a little crowded in the strip mall location here and there was a homeless guy walking around but otherwise, it's fine. The store is clean and well lit with TVs and plenty of dining tables. There's also a water container for free water. Highly recommended for fresh and healthy fish/meats/salad.
SO GOOD. I'm generally picky about where I order my sushi, so I was a bit hesitant to try a new place, but no regrets here! The food came out in a timely manner (I ordered pickup via GrubHub), the place was very clean and organized even during the lunch rush, and the staff was very friendly and great to talk to. Definitely ordering from here again. P.S. Try the egg rolls. Perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside :P
It was my 1st time here. And I must say it was might good. I had the California Roll n some noodles. Very good. Nice friendly staff. Very clean place. I will b going back soon. I drove all the way from Inglewood to try it. Yummmy.
San Sai always hits the spot. A bit pricey but worth it.
Great Japanese inspired food and Hawaiian food. They give large portion. Every upgrade to large combo seems worth it. Salmon grill was very good. Dumpling soup was quite Americanized but it’s still delicious. Sushi comes in a really large bite! I somehow got the idea from the Japanese words written in the restaurant that this would be pretty authentic. They’re actually very delicious and flavorful but a bit far from being authentic.
Parking is free and plentiful here. Nice location because it’s next to other shops and close to Costco. This is a good place for a quick bite to eat, I love the spicy tuna hand rolls and the shrimp tempura. I usually do take-out but I had time to dine in today and the place was clean and comfortable. Nice that they have Jarritos available as a drink option!
Good food. Good service.
Nice place to grab lunch. Good prices and generous portions.
I had the seared ahi and sparkling soda water. The salad dressing was so good and the lettuce so fresh! The ahi was really good as well. I will be back.
Thank you Maria the Ambiance is modern a very friendly environment that combined with a beautiful lovely food = happiness ☺️
great quality and big portion size. recommend the poke bowl! so yummy
Delicious food and great service. My family and I visit often
Everything was amazing, super nice staff and very clean, the food was wonderful Everything was cooked perfectly. Love it

ITS SO GOOD!!!!!!! such friendliness too and so close to my house how didn't I know about this place before... my go to sushi spot from now on
I don’t care where I go when I go to Los Angeles. I always must go to this restaurant. I love their food and it’s very healthy and it’s very reasonable with the pricing.
The service was excellent as always but Regal was super attentive and greeted me with a smile and I appreciate that! He had a very pleasant demeanor and had alot of patience as I ordered. Thank you, Regal!!!!!!

San Sai is always a good choice for tasty, healthy Japanese food options, served quickly and presented well. I find the prices to be a little high, but it's worth it because you will always get fresh food that is flavorful and also good for you! If you want to be a little decadent, try their delicious tempura offerings
Food was good, but they had issues giving us soup. Apparently they didn't have containers for the soup and they couldn't sell it. In their defense, it was an hour before closing on a Sunday night. Staff was friendly and flexible with the orders.
My first time trying San Sei and I can say it was not a disappointment. Food was great. The staff was nice and helpful. Does get packed around lunch time so if you want San Sei for your lunch break, it's best to just call in your order and pick it up when ready.
Always delicious and never disappoints. Car parking is ample but parking your rear inside during peak hours is limited. The service is awesome and Viet is amazingly polite and patient.
Similar to a hawaiian bbq place, they have quick service japanese grill style food. It's definitely a good place to pop in for a baked salmon roll without having to do a full sit-down experience.
Space is nice, still set up like a fast food. I got the chicken spicy teriyaki with 2 sides. The chicken was okay, but the sides where delicious. My wife got some sushi rolls, she enjoyed it.
After a long day of travel, coast to coast, we got in late and needed food on the way to our accommodations. We all agreed on sushi, and San Sai was close to the main road. The sushi was good, the floors not sticky, and there were people waiting for take out. All good things. We would have preferred table service, not toting around trays of food and clearing our own table. But again the sushi was good, only thing I did not like was the Thai salad. We would visit again.
Chill place with open seating. I ordered the salmon roll and the shrimp tempura roll, both 6 piece. Pretty good! Spent $20 for both plus a drink.
Food was alright, better presentation. Their prices went up compared to a menu picture posted on here already.
Clean, friendly and fast, great service and the food is always on point, not bad for "fast food". $$

It tastes good but I think they use MSG . I got a little sick after having ramen. I am allergic to MSG my body reacts immediately. MSG is very bad for the body. What does MSG do to your body? In many countries MSG goes by the name “China salt”. Beside its flavor enhancing effects, MSG has been associated with various forms of toxicity MSG has been linked with obesity, metabolic disorders, Chinese Restaurant Syndrome, neurotoxic effects and detrimental effects on the reproductive organs.
If the employees didn't constantly touch their faces/mask and the guys didn't touch their hats multiple times and the fact they ran out of the asian salad and I had to argue for them to make more I'd probably rate them higher. *note it was fairly early and BUSY for them to not have the salad made. I was mostly grossed out that while yes they were gloves the cashier doesn't change gloves to pack orders after he handles money. This is a basic servsafe rule.
We eat at San Sai often because it is healthy and delicious. This was our first visit to this location. The food was excellent, but the service was very disorganized. There is no system to who gets food first. We had to ask why the four people behind us in line already had their chicken orders when our chicken order was still not up. They asked for the receipt like they didn't remember us ordering and standing ten feet away from them. There was really no sense to it. It was chaotic. The manager guy just stood around smiling until another customer started arguing about the wait time. It was chaos. Food was great though! I've never had this experience at the other locations.
Food was good, price was decent, the girl in the front who rang me up was super rude, and was like throwing my stuff in the bag. I spent over $100 on one order, and would have returned as a customer, but after her behavior and demeaning attitude toward me and other customers she assisted afterwards, I will likely not return. Show your employees how to treat customers, train train train!
Chicken teriyaki is the only reliable staple at this Sam Sai. I really try to enjoy and give my local San Sai a chance, but margins must be tight at this location: no fountain drinks, only soy sauce packets when dining in (they use to have soy sauce bottles) and stinginess with chopsticks when dining in and pickup orders (4-5 orders of sushi and 2 chopsticks, 2 ramen and 1 sushi and a single pair of chopsticks), recyclable soup containers leak within 5 minutes of having hot liquids on them. This is the only location that I'm aware of that has tonkatsu ramen: I would not recommend ordering it due to weak flavored broth and too-soft noodles. The staff is always super helpful (like recommending not to order the ramen for takeout) and seems to work hard, the sushi and ramen quality leave much to be desired.

Subject: Feedback on Sunday’s Experience I visited your establishment on Sunday for lunch and encountered an issue that I wanted to bring to your attention. According to your posted hours, you open at 11:00 AM. However, when I arrived at that time, the doors were still locked, and I had to call to confirm your opening status. The staff member who answered mentioned that you were open but explained the delay was due to preparing the registers. When the doors were finally unlocked, the greeting I received was not warm or welcoming, which left me feeling uncomfortable. While I truly enjoy your food, I value good customer service, and this experience did not meet my expectations. I wanted to share this feedback in the hope that it might help improve the overall experience for your customers. Thank you for taking the time to listen.
I used to eat at SanSai frequently a few years ago. The food tastes good and you get quite a bit but the prices are just too high. I also got bad indigestion about an hour after eating. I hate to give bad reviews as I know all businesses are struggling now, but I won't be back.

I ordered the chicken and shrimp plate and the food tasted as if it was cooked long before I arrived. The shrimp were overcooked and tasteless. The oriental salad tasted bland. Sansai has been known for its quality but tonight, they missed the mark. I won't be returning.
This is my third time calling in to get a pick up order for a shrimp tempura roll and they never get the order right. The first time I took it as an "okay it's a simple mistake" fast forward to today. I verified the order twice after she got the order wrong. I give both my name and phone number. When placing the order so one would think you would remember getting an order wrong twice there wouldn't be a third. I have never gotten an apology or gotten to keep the wrong food for the inconvenience. The point of placing orders ahead is to get it and go not be forced to wait another 10/15mins to get it corrected. The food is good but the service isnt.
I will always be honest. The service was not great especially forgetting about my daughter's one item from the order. The sushi was not bad and the California rolls was hastily put together but tasted ok. I would not return. Too American to associate as a Japanese restaurant.
The food was ok I've had better Japanese food im not going to lie I paid almost 23 dollars for the protein plate and the steak was not the best they give you more sides than meat and give you white rice which I dont get what will you eat the rice with if there is very little meat?
I have a gift certificate for sansai and they will not take it. If it's a GIFT certificate, they should accept it at any SanSai japanese Grill The Gift certificate says : is good at any SanSai japanese Grill: AT ANY It was money spent in your stablishment.. from only $20 dollars now is worth nothing
Oriental salad tasteless without mandarin fruit pieces like it should be (like the rest of San Sai locations), can i get a little bit of eel sauce please? 54 cents each....what? Lol. Incredible but i was never charge for this in any other location and i have gone to many. Besides all i mention already this location looks dirty, floor, chairs and the trash was coming out from container without anybody get it empty.
I've been in other san sai restaurants, and I was expecting a really good taste like always, but first my order was completely wrong they put my salads on my husband's plate, and instead of giving me chicken Breast, they gave me dark meat. I told them it was ok, because I knew everything else was going to be worth. But I was wrong linguini salad was nothing else but black pepper, pasta was so dry and nasty. Sumi salad, was the same thing, all this salas had no taste, no flavor, super dry. So disappointed about this San sai. Cleanliness was decent, but nothing else that make me and my family comeback again.
I ordered the chicken bowl and plate smelled horrible, like an expired chicken from the market. Had requested a refund part of the bill. Staff 4 star. Food 1 star.
We have eaten at the Carson location and it's the BEST but the HAWTHORNE location does not meet the same standards. We both ordered the chicken tempura combo. My husband said where's the chicken? The chicken portion was very small. And the tempura was limp and soggy. This meal consisted mainly of sides. Definitely, was not worth the money. Taste was o-kay.
DON'T BE FOOLED, this place smells great from the parking lot just to reel you in. Their menu is insanely overpriced in relation to the bird sized portions and literally pinches of meat they issue you. Then they had the audacity to mess up my entire order and give me a hard time to refund me. No refund+messed up order+Honey I shrunk the meal sized portions= won't stick around long. Don't waste your time, just go buy some meat n lettuce from the market or go eat outside with the turtles somewhere rather than go to this place.
I've ordered from here a few times and every time I've ordered chicken katsu, the chicken is gray/ brown or even clear in some areas. Soaked with way too much oil and overcooked time and a time and again. Using poor quality meat, not a chicken breast. I choked down a spicy tuna roll to find the cucumber at the bottom discolored and sour, pictures were submitted.
