Opinions de Sushi King Highland Falls
We flew into Newark airport, headed to Great Barrington, MA. We didn’t know what we felt like eating and walked into Sushi King. We ordered sushi rolls and they were the best we’ve ever had. We live in San Diego where fresh fish for sushi is easy to get. The rolls were thick with fresh fish and the optimum amount of rice. Delicious and good value.
Extremely kind owners remade our sushi when we noticed an unexpected ingredient. Sushi was fresh, delicious & excellent. The Spicy Tuna was mouth tingly spicy! Actually the best I've ever had. Interior of restaurant was clean & bright w/ Asian TV shows playing. Fun date night place, but also family friendly.
Paying for your meal at this place is like playing Russian Roulette. Prices float up and down. Owners accept credit cards whenever the mood hits them. Total violation of New York State law. I was handed a bill. To make certain what I was reading I repeated out loud the cost printed on the bill. I was met with nods. However, when I handed over my debit card, the lady owner handed me a slip to sign with a larger total. Mind you, it was AFTER she'd already run the card! They said they charge more for credit cards. When I said I had no idea, she said "Well, now you know."
Really great food here. Large portion sizes and the korean dishes taste authentic. Family of 6 dined in and the owners served us with kindness and prompt service. We had the bulgogi, kimbap, bibimbap, and yaki mandu. Everything was fresh and delicious. The sashimi we ordered was fresh and well plated. The owners have been at West Point since 2002 and are a staple to the community. In a town devoid of many food options aside from pizza, this place is a bright spot. Will definitely come back!
My coworkers and I order on Fridays. I'm not a sushi fan however, I DO love their California rolls, and my friends look forward to their lunches immensely! Fresh tasting pretty food and lovely owners. Love this place!
First of all the owners are extremely friendly and really made us feel welcomed. Next the sushi was wonderful, rice tasted awesome and the fish was very fresh. I had the Bibim Bop which was very tasty and a large portion. Would eat again.
Considering I was VERY hungry when I saw this place and decided to stop in, this was still possibly the best sushi I've had on the East Coast. It's a cozy and quiet place to grab a quick bite. Very friendly owners. I look forward to coming back and trying the Korean dishes on their menu some time.
The owners are FANTASTIC! Great sushi & the bugogi (spelling?) and rice was my favorite meal of anywhere in Highland Falls! I highly suggest the shrimp tempra as well!! The staff are so friendly! Newly remodeled & updated interior. Great spot to eat! Make sure you have cash if your meal is less than $10.
Best lunch option in Highland Falls. The food is fresh and the owners are always pleasant. The prices are high, but so are all restaurants in the area. They serve the best bibimbap in Orange County.
Lovely place!! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was super nice! I went here for dinner and couldn't finish everything, one of the ladies helped me fit my soup into a cup to take to go and even told me how I should reheat it for later so it was still good lol. Really great place to sit down and eat at or to get take out from.
Really quite good a lunch! Tofu/Egg soup and spicy pork with Rice were both delicious and very generous portions. Nice, pleasant service as well.
Cozy family restaurant with friendly service and great food. My wife usually doesn't like miso soup I think because it's made from a packet and she says it tastes like the water they used to wash the dishes. Here, the miso soup is made with fresh, home made dashi and is very flavorful and was the first miso soup that she liked. The dumpling soup was just the thing for a cold, rainy, winter night, I really enjoyed it. Sammy showed my daughter how to mix up the bibimbap--she is ovo-lacto vegetarian and they made it without beef on request. We make a kind of bibimbap sometimes at home, but don't have the stone bowls (yet)--for sure thinking about it now. The owners are very friendly and I noticed are on first-name basis with the locals. My wife had bulgogi and none was left, and a nice conversation with the wife about making kimchi and learned about some new things to try. We are not Korean, but my wife's best friend of many years is Korean and we enjoy the food and make it at home frequently. All in all, the meal lifted our spirits after a long drive and gave us the energy to go the rest of the way. 2nd visit a few days ago was just as good. This time my wife enjoyed the bibimbap (make sure to get it hot except maybe in summer), my daughter had the ramyun (great choice if you're on a budget BTW), and I had the spicy pork with rice which was flavorful and tender, my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. I think this will be our regular stop traveling between DC and New England.
My husband graduated from west point. Every Friday night we would come here for our date night.. pretty sure our photo is on the wall haha, but their sushi is on another level. We have moved to alabama, Germany, and arizona, while traveling to many countries along the way. However we haven't been able to find sushi as good as here. We miss it so much, and appreciate the owners. Hopefully we can visit soon!
The food is really good, but the service is amazing. The owners are so kind and friendly and they actually care about their customers. They're out here caring for a community and it shows.
This is my favorite lunch spot. I have also stopped when just traveling through the area. This is a terrific family run business, the food is delicious, the staff is wonderful, and the portions are very reasonably priced.
It was really good and you get alot. I like how they had my favorite water as a selection. They need to have Yum Yum sauce. Definitely that. Service was great and time was good too. You get what you paid for.
Was surprised that not only does this place have great sushi, but it also has amazing Korean food. Sad that my time in West point is over, but if I ever get orders to come here again, I'll definitely come again!
The service and sushi are always wonderful at Sushi King! I love the fast service and recommendations, as well as the ability to pick up my food and run, or have it delivered. Excellent local place!
best korean food. their jaeyook (spicy pork) is AMAZING. it’s really hard finding good korean food out here but this place was really good and the owner was so nice.
Everything was outstanding . I especially like the tuna hand roll, best I ever had. I’d say this is a must visit and most likely I will come back on this trip and try something different. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Second visit was just as good so ya this place is legit great food!
Came up to west point for an overnight from the city. Wandered through town and chose this spot since I was intrigued about the Korean menu items. So glad I decided to go. Got the spicy pork and an assortment of sushi (get the rainbow roll)! SO GOOD. The Korean food made me feel like I was in a family home. Quintessential comfort. Prices are beyond fair. The spot itself is quaint and lovely. The owners are so sweet and let us walk in 30 minutes before closing.
This place was fantastic, doesn’t get more athletic than this. Great food , very fresh and tasty. Plenty of seating area and service was fantastic. Thank you for a great dinner
Wow, absolutely amazing. Before I get into the specifics, definitely pay this place a visit. As a Korean, and as an avid Asian food lover, this place is ranked best in my books for Korean cuisine. The owners are this cute husband and wife duo. They speak Korean, the wife speaks English but the husband does not fluently so please be patient!!! The good: everything honestly. We got the fried mandu and chicken combo, soondoobu jjigae, Bulgogi, and spicy pork dishes. The portions are humongous so definitely family style it up and share amongst your table. Miso soup is served for free and has this unique umami flavor I haven’t tasted before in a miso. The mandu and chicken were fried perfectly, and didn’t leave you feeling heavy afterwards The soondoobu jjigae had tons of tofu (as in the name), and the gochujang flavor was perfect. Served boiling at the table The Bulgogi was your basic meat but nonetheless this dish always hits The spicy pork was the best. Super spicy and flavorful. I could not stop eating it. For those sensitive to spice, I wouldn’t get this dish but for those who do, I stuffed myself full! The bad: I can’t say anything was not good. We did have to ask for water as it wasn’t brought to the table until then, and this place does not have a bathroom. But what are you coming here to do? Eat! So who cares this place is amazing Overall: you have to try this place. Even tho we live mostly in Albany I will 100% be back soon just for this place alone. The best Korean restaurant I’ve been to out of the ones in upstate. This place competes well out of the ones in NYC too since that’s where we live part-time. Update after eating here for over a year: STILL MY FAVORITE PLACE EVER
As a food reviewer all the way from Missouri who has been everywhere and eaten all types of cuisine, every once in awhile you find a gem of a place that stays true to its roots and the food is just amazing. That was Sushi King for me.. I got the Bulgolgi, Spicy Pork, Kimchi, Yaki Mandu, Sushi, Sashimi and Miso. The Miso was homemade with fresh seaweed. No pre-made broth. The soy sauce was homemade. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The service was great. The atmosphere was very warm and relaxing. But the joy was seeing the cook making things homemade and just singing in Korean. Doing what he loves and just sharing his culture with the world at the same time. You can tell that love And pride goes into the food. If you've never had Korean food this place is the most authentic you'll find in America. I guarantee it!!
We’ve been eating at Sushi King for over six years since moving to West Point. It’s nestled on Main Street not far from Thayer Gate and within walking distance from Thayer hotel, Visitor’s Center, West Point Museum, and the old 5 Star Inn. We love the choices of Japanese and Korean dishes and especially love the family who own and operate the restaurant. They are so gracious, friendly, and so generous. My favorite dish is the Bi Bim Bop Hot Pot, but have sampled a variety of soups and nori roll, and their bulgogi is delicious! Nice portions and well priced. They even deliver! I highly recommend!
Can’t ask more. Came from city and did a half day hiking at the storm king trails. Quick google search and this restaurant jumps out as the first. We give it a try since it is 15 mins drive away. The lady there is super nice. It is a small restaurant but things and food there you can feel the heart they put inside this business. You will be surprised by the volume of the food they serve to you. Nothing more, just click the direction and go there if you are like me.
This place is a Diamond. Unbelievably great Sushi. However I dont eat fish... So I get the Fry Chicken Sushi roll. And the fried Sweet potato roll. I crave this often and i am blown away by the fresh taste, every bite. Cant wait until I crave it again.
Large portions, affordable prices, pretty good home-style korean food. Kitchen closes ~30-45 min before close, highly recommend this place if you’re at West Point and craving Korean food
great little place. food was good. they have good Korean beer.
Great food, don't see much quality Korean food in this area.

A total surprise for me, a hidden gem of Asian food. I’ve only been twice because it’s far but I would come every day. Sushi rolls are my favorite food and I’ve tried them all over the place and Sushi King has the best ones ever. It’s more fish than rice and it looks and tastes amazing. Cozy atmosphere and fantastic owners.
Incredible sushi and one of the few sushi places I've been to where they give you plenty food in a roll. For my anniversary I ordered 4 rolls for the two of us and we couldn't even finish eating because the portions were so generous!
This tiny, family-run restaurant is the kind of place you'd expect to find nestled in a cozy corner of Manhattan – authentic, delicious food in a delightful atmosphere. I love eating a boiling hot bowl of ramen here on a cold New York winter night. The prices are good, and the service is great. A wide selection of beverages are available from a large glass-front refrigerator. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible as there are a few steps up to enter, and the toilets also require steps.
I love Sushi King! Great Food! gomabseubnida. eumsig-i jeongmal mas-iss-eoyo!
Sushi King offers a wonderful dining experience with friendly and attentive service. The food is fresh and delicious, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality sushi in a welcoming atmosphere!
Best restaurant in the West Point/Highland Falls area! This is a family owned place that has been around for decades. They serve fresh sushi and a variety of Korean dishes. The food is delicious and they give you pretty generous portion sizes, too! However, this is definitely more of a “to-go” place as indoor seating is very limited.

Had the bulgogi to go. I liked it..glad it came with brocolli so theres vegatbles. Since most of their customers don't want kimchee, you have to ask them for it, if you want it, even tho it is part of the menu
If you’re at West Point and craving sushi, this is your nearest option. The restaurant has a cozy, homey atmosphere. I ordered the Crunch Roll and the Bear Mountain Roll, and I was excited to see that the rolls were generously portioned. I visited during lunch and was the only person in the restaurant. The Crunch Roll was my favorite! The service was quick and friendly, and I was even given complimentary miso soup. Next time, I plan to try their Korean menu items.

Food is the best part, pretty decent rolls. The cash thing I get but who carries cash? I want to eat here more it just always feels like they’re just about to close down.
Korean fare may be good, but the sushi was sloppy in both preparation and presentation. Very marginal. Tofu Soup was excellent. Not Japanese, but good. Service was poor. The owner sat and played on her phone and computer while I helped myself to bottles of Coke from the cooler during a $30.00 meal.
So disappointed... had Sushi King at a catered event and wanted to come for a long time. Finally had a chance today. Checked the hours and menu, knew exactly what I wanted, drove there... and it was closed, even though the "open" sign was flashing. A small sign said they would return at 5. Sadly, I can't wait that long. The sushi is great if you can get it, but don't believe the posted hours, especially if you are making a special trip.
Korean food here needs lots of improvement. I had the kimchi bokembab and bulgogi here and i think i threw out the bokembab after the first bite. Considering their prices, it is a terrible deal. Their sushi is mediocre but is sloppy and expensive. I really wish there was a decent Korean place around here, it has a potential to thrive.
The management is very mean. They think they can treat customers badly bc they are the only Korean restaurant in town. They figure that people around here have no choice but to eat there if they want food that resembles Korean food. It’s not authentic Korean food. It’s very poor attempt to make it like Korean food but they failed miserably.
If I could give a -00 I would I'm a food reviewer on tiktok from Georgia and while visiting NY I decided to stop by sushi King to do a review IMMEDIATELY the Korean guy rushed me out the door as I was trying to explain what I do and it would be a plus for his restaurant but nope so I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Why spend money with these people when they can care less about you never have I been treated this way when trying to review a restaurant but after I went next door to NANA'S CHICKEN (Peruvian food) and they were AMAZING customer service and food is A+ I RECOMMEND TRYING NANAS CHICKEN NEXT DOOR.
got sushi, spicy pork, and chicken wings. The sushi quality was terrible almost inedible chicken wings were not good and so small. it also was overpriced for the quality of the food. Wont be returning
I'm sorry to say, but my Spider Roll was completely inedible I had throw it away. Not fresh, It was completely dry and looked a few days old. This was my first time there, won't be returning.
Felt very unwelcome by the waitress, the food was less than mediocre, not sure where all the good reviews are coming from. Miso soup had a fishy taste to it and was not edible. Korean entry wasn’t good either. On top of that, they said tonight we accept cash only. Tax authorities would have an issue with this business. Do not recommend this place.
