Had a memorable dining experience on New Years Eve with friends. Service was excellent and food was very good but a little luke warm On New Year's Eve, my friends and I had an unforgettable dining experience at this restaurant. The service was absolutely outstanding, with staff going above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. The food was exceptional, with each dish showcasing the chef's skill and creativity. However, there was a slight lapse in the quality of the food, which was a bit disappointing the food came out luke warm to cool. Despite this, the overall experience was still very enjoyable and memorable. Will be back.
I wanted to specifically write a review for Sophia’s. Shane at the bar out back is 10/10. Me & my boyfriend went for happy hour last night. It was busy, a full bar. Shane had great recommendations for food & made his drinks even better. I appreciated his positive attitude despite his full bar. To me the bartender also sets the vibes. You can definitely tell Shane loves what he does!! Will definitely be back & we hope to see Shane!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sophia’s in Hobe Sound. The crab cakes were great. The beef tenderloin sliders are must. The lobster and crab bisque was one of the best I’ve had. The outdoor seating area is spacious and there was live music. Definitely will be back.
I have eaten here a few times now and it is becoming one of my favorite. The jalapeño brisket sausage is really well balanced with it’s flavor, and the beef tenderloin sliders are delicious. I’ve also had the pretzel, the coconut shrimp, and a few other things that all have been good. I have had a different server each time, all of which have been good and attentive to making sure that our drinks were filled and that we were happy with the food. The only knock that I give it is if you are sitting outdoors, be prepared to shoot away some flies from the food.
This place is wonderful. Great service, smiling welcoming faces, and great food. They are very generous here. My Thai roasted duck was a half duck! I ate it all because it was so good! And live music on a Tuesday? Bonus!!
Our first time to Sophia's. We're happy to see a new, local place open up. Menu is nice, we tried as many things as we could. Lots of variety. The gyro egg rolls and burnt end sausage are great! Can't wait to go back and try more new things. Glad to see Mike there.
Awesome happy hour menu and high end atmosphere. The drink specials were great and the food was delicious! Halie our server (bartender) was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu options and drink choices. We had the coconut shrimp and a steak tenderloin flat bread. Yum! Definitely check this place out in Hobe sound.
Took the wife and kids to check out Hobe Sound's newest hot spot. Sophia's ticks all the boxes- the bar area with high tops was bright and lively with a good size bar. The dining area is best described as farmhouse elegant casual. The outside area is large and roomy, with a tiki bar with TV's, and stage to boot. There is something for everyone. You could go to the inside bar area for happy hour on a weekday (crazy happy hour deals), a really nice date night on a Saturday, and watch football and live music for a Sunday Funday. I had the crab cakes (the sauce that comes with them is unbelievable), wife had ribeye steak, and the kids had a margarita flatbread and a smash burger. All of it was excellent. Highly recommend this place, get there before season starts.
Had my birthday party here! Robin was great taking the reservation! Riley and Haley were fantastic taking care of all 30 of us for over 3 hours!
Excellent experience at Sophia’s in Hobe Sound. Our new favorite restaurant in the area. Went for the first time last night. Sat outside (which seems like the play here) with outside seating being under cover, shaded and breezy. Live music, classy/comfortable atmosphere, upscale & sophisticated menu with variety. The food was delicious! We were craving seafood so we opted for the Sophia’s Seafood Tower (Lg) and we feasted! Soo fresh & tasty!! Had a few apps. 4oz filet on the kids menu for our little guy was awesome. They also have a great happy hour that goes until 6:00pm. Way too good not to share! And close to Jupiter, maybe 7 minutes from the owners other restaurant Blue Pointe in Tequesta. Check it out!
Our family had a wonderful meal at Sophia’s. Our server, Vinny did a fantastic job of guiding us through the menu on this gastronomical tour. We started with the Poke Tuna app which was chilled perfectly & so fresh. We commented that the wontons must be cooked to order cause they were still warm. The second course was Blue Point Oysters & the lobster bisque. Again, they really nailed it. There was so much meat in the lobster bisque which is hard to find & the oysters were delicious. For dinner we enjoyed the Ribeye Steak which was seasoned well & grilled to perfection & the Crab Cakes which had very little filler with a delicious sauce. Finally, for dessert we had the Purple Sweet Potato Cheesecake & the Lava Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. Sophia’s is the perfect addition to the Hobe Sound Community. We will definitely be back…
This location has had multiple restaurants that didn’t make it… but Sophia’s may have broken that curse! Food was delicious, service with Bradley was a pleasure (he provided great recommendations), and the outdoor patio space is such a nice vibe! My faves… the jalepeno-infused vodka margarita drink, coconut shrimp with pina colada sauce, truffle fries, and orange creamsicle cake! Come hungry and leave satisfied 🥰
Very quant elegant and romantic all wrapped up into a great evening. The service was beyond perfect and everyone was so nice. The food was awesome and reasonably priced. Finally another place that was very needed in Hobe Sound
Wanted to take my mom somewhere special for a VERY early MD/BD treat- a fabulous experience! Meghan was our server extraordinaire- the best! To begin the festivities, I ordered the tree tunnel tini- absolutely delicious. Mom, the mocktail mojito- very tasty. We started with the lobster/shrimp bisque, we both agreed that it was probably in our top 2. For main course, shared a grouper sandwich with truffle fries. The amount of grouper was very generous and lightly blackened- extremely moist! The truffle fries were thin, crisp and flavorful- just the way I love them. The atmosphere is very pleasant and weather was perfect. Can’t wait to return!
What an experience, Sophia’s tower and the gyro egg rolls for appetizers were second to none! Entrees were all delicious, the filet was one of the best I’ve had recently including high end streakhouses, side note, I ordered the ribeye and just tried the filet, you can’t go wrong with the ribeye either, so flavorful and well prepared! The lobster was also top notch on both the tower and the surf and turf. I’m really looking forward to going back and trying the surf and turf burger as well as the rest of the menu, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Staff is awesome and the atmosphere is delightful.
Love Sophia's! We go for happy hour and love the bartender and staff. Food is consistently good and the happy hour menu is great!
I could spend more time saying how great initial visit was., But, I’m having too much fun with all The people Here. Our group tried different appetizers and many of the main dishes without anybody being unhappy. More to come.
We had lunch at Sophia‘s today, and it was fabulous. Out of all the locations that’s been there, this one definitely has the best food and service. We had the fillet sliders and the lobster rolls and I would order them both again. I almost ordered another set to take home they were so good! We had a large group of friends and the waitress took great care of us, she was fantastic. The food came out hot and in a timely manner. We can’t wait to go back
I Can’t say enough positive things about my experience here tonight. Sophie’s has a recipe for success from the atmosphere, the food and the service. This very well may be the best restaurant venue in Hobe Sound (10x better than when Taste was at its prime). Lila was a great server with genuine charm and didn’t rush us at all. Her recommendations were spot on. Mike the manager is a class act! I know a lot of managers in the industry and he is one of the more genuine and human I’ve met. Graciously talked to us for a bit after dinner and was present on the floor/door during service. Ownership is lucky to have both Lila and Mike, remember, “people make a place”. The Coconut Shrimp was great, very fresh, but the sauce with it made the dish. Highly recommend. Asked Lila to choose between the Duck and The Grouper. She went with the Grouper and boy was I glad she did! Very light, generous portion with a side of coconut shrimp. My Dad ordered the burger and he said it was the best he has had in Florida (not easy to please him) Thank you for a great evening, I’m so glad my family chose to eat with you tonight. Looking forward to returning soon! .
We got over to check out Sophia’s tonight…. Had the lobster & crab bisque and tuna wrap. Both were very flavorful and would definitely order again (Once I get to try some other items, since the menu had some really nice options). The tuna was very fresh and the sauces served on the side were nice compliments. My little had a kids cheeseburger and fries which had lettuce tomato and onion on it which we appreciated so often kids burgers are really dry, this was not. The outside area is lovely and they had live music (Deena Miller) which added to the ambiance. Our server Liz was friendly and answered our many questions with a smile. She did a great job!
We kept hearing about this place and finally made it there. Bradley was the most attentive, friendly, knowledgeable server we’ve had in a long time anywhere. Table of four friends, catching up after a long time with several courses of appetizers, entrées, and drinks for all. Glasses were kept topped off, food was incredible. We will definitely be back!
We always sit outside... barside... Lovely place... Friendly Staff... Good Food & Drinks!!! Happy Hour menu is GREAT!!! Dinner Menu DEEELICIOUS!!! Lots of outdoor fans. We were comfortable seated in the shade ... with fans and no one complained about the heat... it was 88°ish... 😎😍😎
My husband and I celebrated our 45th anniversary there. We went during Happy Hour so we could order some drinks and appetizers, just to get a vibe on the place. We sat outside, enjoyed the breeze, but more importantly the Food. Everything was delicious. We had the calamari, coconut shrimp, sliders and shrimp flatbread. The best coconut shrimp and calamari we ever had. I wanted to surprise my husband, so I found our waiter Mark inside and told him if he could bring out a dessert to celebrate our special day. He asked if I like coconut, yeah!! Mark brought out a generous slice of the Coconut cake and a sparkler candle. The cake was fantastic. My husband and I had such a wonderful time and. a new memory. Thank you.
Recently moved here from Juno so I am appetizing my way through Hobe Sound. Excellent Food and Service. Finally, a PROPER Shrimp Cocktail, the freshest and best I have had in AGES. Bravo! Can't wait to have dinner here.
We came to try a place that sponsored our grandsons baseball team. So glad we did! We tried several appetizers, wings, sausages, coconut shrimp. To good to pick a favorite. Salads were large and fresh. Dinners were very good. Our server was great! She was so efficient and made sure we always had what we needed. The manager came out and he was very nice and also made sure we were very happy. Would highly recommend this treasure in Hobe Sound.
Went to Sophia's to celebrate a birthday. Sat out by the bar for drinks and appetizers during Happy Hour. This was one of the best Happy Hours we've ever experienced. Discounted wine and specialty drinks. Coconut shrimp, flat bread, beef sliders and more. All excellent. 5 stars all around.
Sophia’s is the kind of place that immediately feels warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere and the smell of great food drifting through the air. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or a special night out, it delivers every time. The menu is full of fresh, flavorful dishes, and everything tastes like it’s made with care.Portions are generous without being over the top.The staff at Sophia’s are friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure you enjoy your meal. Service is quick but never rushed, adding to the overall welcoming vibe.
We loved the place. 100% a staff makes all the difference. Good food, bad staff, bad experience. Eh food, good staff. Good experience. But when you get good food and great staff, that's a nice evening out. Friendly, eager and all helped each other. I would dollars to donuts, ownership makes this a great place to work. Or they just hired a bunch of good people. First time visiting, we were recommend to go, and we loved it! Tell them Scott sent you. It won't get you anything but a sideways glance, but everyone loves to hear they were recommended.
I went to Sophia’s for dinner with my parents and it was amazing. I got the steak, which was cooked perfectly, and everything we tried was delicious. Chrissy was our server and she was incredible — so attentive, friendly, and really made the whole experience even better. Between the great food, warm atmosphere, and Chrissy’s outstanding service, Sophia’s is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to!
The outside area was very romantic. The food was delicious, I had shrimp tacos and my boyfriend had their filet with the truffle fries and asparagus. The staff went above and beyond to ensure the food was cooked right.
Wonderful date night spot in hobe sound. Great food and only 5 minutes from the beach. Wish I found out about it sooner, cant wait to tell my friends and family about it. Good halfway spot between palm beach and port st Lucie. A night to remember for a first date. *terminator voice* I'll be back!
We were so impressed with the delicious food at Sophia’s last night . Chef Dave Watson created an incredible sweet potato encrusted grouper. He also prepared a bone in pork chop that a friend had recommended. It was tender and very tasty. Both dishes were prepared with the perfect mixture of flavors. All the sides (asparagus, broccoli, mash potatoes) were wonderful and complimented our entrees. We topped off our dinner with the orange creamsicle cake. We had intended to take our cake to go because we were so full. But once we tasted it in the to-go box, we couldn’t stop eating it. We laughed until the very last bite. Unfortunately, we live in Jacksonville Beach, so we’ll have to live on memories of Sophia’s until we return next year. Thank you, Chef Dave! Karen & Craig
New to the area & searched online for a historic restaurant, Sophia's was our choice. Mondays is Happy Hour all day, we ordered sangrias & beef sliders & wings as appetizers... Delish!! Also ordered the calamari appetizer, very yummy. Hubby ordered the Smash Attack Burger & he really liked it. Hailey was our server, excellent service!! We will return.
Everything about this place is five stars. Our server, Mark, was very attentive and provided great service. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere great. Lots of outdoor seating with live music. We kind of stumbled on this place during our visit to Jupiter and glad we did.
The service here is IMPECCABLE. The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. I am not a person that normally writes reviews, but this place absolutely deserves 5 stars. Jessica was our server - she is AMAZING! A truly unforgettable meal—can’t wait to return!
I recently brought a very special guest to Sophia’s for their first visit, and from start to finish, the experience exceeded every expectation. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and swiftly escorted to our table, which offered a lovely view of the bar area and a musician playing genuinely cool, soulful music. The energy in the room was vibrant, welcoming, and effortlessly chic — the kind of atmosphere that immediately lets you know you’re somewhere special. Our server, Lizzie, was an absolute standout. She was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable, with such a bright and genuine spirit. Her guidance through the menu was thoughtful and spot-on, and she truly elevated the entire dining experience. We began with the specialty oysters and the tuna poke. The tuna was clearly sushi-grade and incredibly fresh, served with house-made wonton chips that were nothing short of outstanding. The oysters were beautifully presented and came with a phenomenal variety of accompaniments that complemented them perfectly. For entrées, we chose the sweet potato–crusted grouper with truffle fries and plantains, as well as the crusted snapper served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both dishes were expertly prepared, flavorful, and beautifully plated. I must also note that the portion size of the fresh Florida fish was incredibly generous — easily enough to feed two people, which was a wonderful surprise and tremendous value. We also requested a customized margarita, and the bartender nailed it — perfectly balanced and exactly what we had in mind. From the ambiance to the service, cocktails, and exceptional food, Sophia’s delivered a truly memorable dining experience. We left impressed, happy, and already planning our return. This is a gem in Hobe Sound, and we will absolutely be back.
I visited for the first time with my husband and family. We dined outdoors while enjoying live music. The atmosphere and service were great. The Crispy Calamari was delicious, but Sophia's Crab Cakes were too salty, and the Lobster and Crab Bisque was also overly salty.
The Arnold Palmer was sweet and flavorful, A delicious sensation to pass my lips! It had a little tang at the back of my throat, which was very unique to any Arnold Palmer have tasted yet.
I asked the server can I get the seared tuna wrap med well she said I'll ask the kitchen and returned with a story about why they can't. I said ok and still ordered the SEARED tuna wrap. It came 100% raw no sear. I unfolded the green wrap and none of the tuna chunks were seared. I showed the server and continued to finish my meal with my wife. We just found this place and like the vibe but don't dupe me I don't appreciate being made to look like a fool. The server Ashley is great the kitchen/cook needs to follow the menu!
The inside bar was lite up like a warehouse. Very unromantic for Valentines Day. We ended up outside, much better. Hostesses was very pleasant with smiles but sat us at a wet table. Dropped menus and took off. The waitress Caroline was very pleasant and saw her running around a lot. Wine was served in a warm wine glass. She missed out on an extra round of drinks and wine was room temperature.because it took too long between rounds. When food arrived we had no napkins or silverware, food runner retrieved. Ended up just getting an appetizer and decided to leave. We went to Scooters instead. Not impressed. I would recommend the management needs to up their game.
Sofia’s is a cute, if somewhat unremarkable, lunch and dinner spot in Hobe Sound. The food isn’t exceptional, but it is fairly reliable. The ambiance is one of the stronger points, especially the cozy outdoor seating area, which sometimes features live music. Service has been a mixed bag. I’ve had great experiences with servers, but a more neutral impression of the hosts. They rarely seem to be available to seat, and if they are, they don't seat you where you requested. The menu is classic Florida fare, with seafood dishes, raw bar options, sandwiches like ahi tuna wraps and grouper sandwiches, and a few more elevated entrées. Most dishes fall in the $20–$30 range, and there’s a fairly extensive wine list. Overall, it’s a fine restaurant with standard offerings and an average to slightly below-average dining experience. It works if you want something familiar in a pleasant setting, but it isn’t a standout.
First time eating here and I heard positive feedback prior to eating here. Service was very good, attentive and polite. However, I ordered the filet minion which was a bad cut, was tough and inedible. The manager was gracious and did not charge for the meal. I requested some grilled shrimp which was granted and was ok. My boyfriend had the chicken piccata which was tough and not an enjoyable meal. We would not revisit this restaurant due to the inflated prices and lack of good quality food!
I was so excited to see meat-free options. I ordered the grilled portabello which was excellent. I asked for no animal products on my food. It came with 2 sides. I chose broccoli and asparagus. They both came dry...no oil. No salt. No garlic. No lemon. No flavor. It felt like an intended message from the chef that I was not welcome.
Entire patio was empty (maybe two tables were seated) yet they seated us at a high top table with two young kids like it was the only available space. There wasn’t one other party that came in while we were there and it was just as empty when we left. Food was super mediocre. Staff was friendly but needed prompts to be attentive (like bringing extra plates).
Where to begin? It’s clear that the manager could use a crash course in top-tier customer service. The server, however, was exceptional—the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the food fell flat. I ordered a medium filet, but it arrived well done. The mashed potatoes seemed like they came from a box rather than being homemade. For a $48 plate, I expected much more. Honestly, this level of quality is what I’d anticipate from Outback, not a local restaurant trying to stand out.
I have been to Sophia's about seven times. Every single time there is an issue. Tonight was the third time my entree came out yet I never received my appetizer. So I get the usual "I'm so sorry". Other times my food came but there were no utensils to eat with but yes we got them about ten minutes later. The food is good but the service is very below par and nobody cares. So after trying to like the new restaurant in the neighborhood I'm done unless it's just a drink at the bar.
My husband and I were looking forward to a lovely evening, especially since we live within walking distance and had made a reservation for 7 PM, as instructed. Upon arrival, we were informed that there were no turkey dinners left. We were shocked, as we had specifically called to reserve our meals in advance. My husband opted for Swordfish, which he described as Just Ok, while I chose the Yellowtail Snapper, anticipating a delightful experience based on my previous visits to Key West. Unfortunately, the dish did not resemble the Yellowtail we expected at all, and my husband described it as tasting like “sawdust.” We ended up spending over $100 for a meal that neither of us enjoyed, so I reluctantly decided to box up my food throw it in the fridge. To add to our discomfort, the lights kept flickering throughout our meal, which felt quite unsettling and gave the impression that we were being rushed out. We were genuinely looking forward to our dinner at Sophia's, and it was disappointing that our experience did not meet our expectations. We hope this feedback will help enhance the dining experience for future guests. Thank you for taking the time to address our concerns.
I came here because it had the same name as my Fiancee. I was severely disappointed. Kids menu was Kraft mac n cheese and an off tasting burger for the kids, my goat cheese salad was good but my fiancee's flatbread was no good at all. I do not recommend.
Zero stars. 0/10. Bland, boring and cold food. Slop on a plate. Over priced and lacking any type of flavor. Apps took 20 minutes and our entrees over an hour for half the table to be wrong. Do not recommend.
My family, friends and neighbors have enjoyed Sophias for a long time. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon, the gentleman bartender outside had a condescending attitude which prompted us to leave in 5 minutes. It would have been a 300 dollar tab if the bartender simply displayed some basic professionalism. I have received better and more courteous service at a Chillis in Port Saint Lucie. The young lady barmaid was good and professional. I do not recommend the outside tiki.
