Miyako Japanese Restaurant

We just moved to the area and are so happy to have found this restaurant. Food was delicious, friendly staff and quick service. We will be back!

The best Japanese restaurant from san Diego all the way to the Oregon border. Awesome. Ed is the man great guy. Best sushi uses a better grade of fish than most other restaurants. I've been going there since opened in 1990s.try it ull see the difference. People come from san Jose just to eat here.

Food was exceptional, fresh fish, good sake selections, fast service, and the owners are very friendly, I would recommend to anyone.

So delicious! I got 'the holiday' and it was delightful!!! The spread is nice, and I think the prices is very fair. We got the local sake, unfiltered and yummie, it is sweet and creamy! Been before, we will be back!

Service isn't the fastest but completely worth the wait. Super friendly staff who want to learn everyone's name. If they have Toro get it. Sushi bar casual enough for just off work. Elevated seating area super nice. Could be great a date impression or celebration spot or just casual. Plan to return!

Absolutely delicious sushi! The owner, "Eddie" is a truly joyful person who also makes some of the best I've had! Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar if you can, to get pole position to see Eddie working at his craft and also enjoy a conversation with him and his wonderful personality. Make sure you read the newspaper article about him hung above the chairs on the wall on your left as you enter. A tremendous 🍣 sushi experience!

We had an amazing Valentine’s Day dinner at Miyako’s! The service was quick, and the food was absolutely delicious. Their sushi is always on point—fresh, flavorful, and expertly made. The mochi ice cream was a perfect way to end the meal and a big hit with the kids. The family-friendly atmosphere makes it a great spot for any occasion. They never miss! Highly recommend.

What a great place for sushi! They have been in Hollister for 29 years! The owner still makes the sushi and it is fresh as anywhere in the big city. Sushi made the traditional way. Simple but delicious and made with love and care. If you want fancy big city flare, go back to the city. If you want traditional, high quality sushi, come here.

Closest thing to experiencing the DMV without actually going to the DMV. At least there, you have a number ticket so you know where you are in line. Yeah whatever. The baked mussels are good

Great time dining with my family of 9. It wasn't too packed for a Saturday at 6 pm, so our food started to come out about 20 mins after we ordered. Everything tasted amazing. I read other reviews about portion size, but i don't think people realize that in Japan, this is the normal portion size. The sauces weren't drowning the rolls. I'd say it was the perfect amount. Kids friendly space and parking is available front and back of the building. What we ordered APPITIZERS-Mix tempura, aji fry, fried octopus, baked mussels, and soft shell crab. I would recommend them all - my personal favorite was soft shell crab appetizer!! ROLLS - catapillar, lobster roll, lemon drop roll, spider, crunchy, california, lion king, and sal skin roll - All rolls were fantastic. My personal favorite was lemon drop roll Salmon kama- yummy Tokyo Hamachi- DELICIOUS DESSERT - deep fried ice cream and fried banana Loved them both! Friendly staff and atmosphere. I will be coming back soon! Love supporting the small guys, especially in a growing town. Wish I took pictures but the next visit I will take some!

This restaurant is very nice. The food is good. It has a lot of items on the menu that I don't know what they are but the tempura items are great. I personally have never eaten sushi but others with me say that it is good there.

We came with a large party on a busy Saturday night and they were short staffed. We were treated extremely well under the circumstances and the food was great. Everyone enjoyed the restaurant and the staff did a great job.

1st time. Food was good and very peaceful.

We did enjoy the meal. But I'm not too happy about the bill total. It just didn't add up. Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip.

The oysters were great. But the Miyako salad was disappointing. The chicken on the salad wasn't as good as the local KFC and the crab was just average. The menu needs to be studied on line before going to the resteraunt. The waiters we're good. I been to a lot of Japanese restaurants and this isn't one of the better

At the end the waiter left with out saying anything and didn’t finish our service. We had to go up front and ask for the check and they were charging us for the appetizers. This was our first time here. Now, I know I only have them 3 stars, but I will go back to hopefully get a better experience. Food: we had some sushi rolls, some were fried, and some weren't. The rolls were good. I wouldn't say they are the best I've had, but they were good. Service: I'm sorry to say that the service was not good. Don't get me wrong, once the waiter and waitress came, they were helpful and nice, but the problem was they took forever. Although it was busy, not all the tables were taken. When our food came, we asked for water and a refill on the tea, but they totally forgot about it. We had to ask a second time, and even then, it took some time. Atmosphere: The setup is cool, but what was not cool was the table had a glass on top and a table cloth on the bottom, but the table cloth was dirty. Also, it might have been where we were sitting, but there was an unpleasant smell Conclusion: The food was good. The service should be improved and more proactive. The table cloths should be cleaned or just get rid of them and leave the glass on top The smell has to be taken care of. Like I said at the beginning, I will try it out one more time and see where it goes.

Every time I pick up my food I go over my order they assure me it's all there, they act bothered if I ask them to open the bags so I can see for myself, and when I get home I'm missing several items. This is terrible since I not only pay for the food I tip 20% OR MORE ON TAKE OUT. Last complaint is when I call to order take out the guy speaks in a normal tone, when I tell him Im calling to order take out his voice becomes a whisper saying we are ONLY taking cash, I fell for that a few times until I went to pick up my food one night and saw everyone was paying with a card including the take out people. I thought why am I told I can only pay with cash, was my cash plus tip really going to the restaurant? I had my doubts. It's to bad I'm unhappy with the service at this restaurant because to me it WAS one of the best in the Hollister area.

This is not a knock on miyako and it’s food because it’s great. But there’s a young lady there who idk is a waiter or hostess but she has terrible customer service. She was at the register as I walked in I stood there for five minutes and she didn’t acknowledge me once. It took another gentleman to come say welcome and take my order.

Not too many Japanese options in Hollister but sadly this is not a great option regardless. Sushi didn't taste very fresh but they are charging pretty high price for it and waitress did seem pretty grumpy. Would not come back.

Way over priced asked about all you can eat and was told yeah sure then got a 175 dollar bill ridiculous, the sushi was not that good 🙄

Arrived around 730 last night. Waited 10 minutes for someone to take our order or at least get us started, after being seated and receiving menus. Decided to leave. They are clearly understaffed.

They are closed often on days listed as open and never have an outgoing message letting people know that they are closed. When they are open they will let the phone ring and ring. Getting tired of driving across town just to see if they are open. And for some reason they say there credit card machine has been not working for a year, so cash only.. Was a longtime customer, very disappointed lately.

Staff was super friendly and very attentive! Food was great at first until My issue happened…My biggest issue was there was a lot of small fruit flies in the back right side, and they only appeared once our drinks and food got there. One fell in my beer and didn’t make a scene, they replaced right away. Then two more flies were flying around our rolls and one fell in my beer again! I very discreetly let the staff know of the situation in a soft voice to not bring attention to us. I Did Not request a discount, But an apology from the manager or owner would have been nice, none was given… Even a coupon for a next time visit would have been nice. I WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS SUSHI RESTAURANT AGAIN. Good luck to all.

How does this place have 4 and a half stars? Their menu is so small, the roll I got was skimpy as hell, not worth the wait. We should have walked out after realizing how limited their menu was. Also, shouldn't specials be special and not something off the regular menu? Out of all the sushi spots I've been to in all the states I've lived in, this was by far the least impressive.
