Terrific pizza in Kaimuki! We had a tasty family dinner here last month when we were visiting my brother who lives nearby. He'd never heard of Brick Fire before our visit, but he became an immediate fan after he tasted their pizza. Brick Fire Tavern is the only pizzeria on Oahu with the Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN) certification, meaning they make True Neopolitan Pizza. If you're not familiar with this type of pizza, they're cooked for just 90 seconds in a wood-burning oven (handmade in Naples!). Napoletana pizzas have a soft center with a chewy crust and are wonderful! Our party of five shared three pizzas between us: the OG Funghi, the Prosciutto e Rucola, and the New Yorker. All three were delicious and we left no crumbs. My favorite of the three was the Prosciutto e Rucola because I just love prosciutto di Parma on a pizza. The Napoletana pizza crust is so good, too, with a great chew. Service was terrific throughout our meal. This spot is on the smaller side and it was packed when we were there. Reservations are highly recommended; I actually don't know if they even take walk-ins. Mangia!

This is a must-visit spot every time I go to Oahu. Everyone I’ve recommended it to has said the same thing—it’s always delicious. From pizza and pasta to the meatballs, every single dish is outstanding. It’s already so popular that you can’t usually get a table at dinner without a reservation, but it’s still a place I want more people to know about. The prices are very reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the whole experience is close to perfect.

Been here multiple times and have yet to be disappointed! The pizzas & pastas are always cooked to perfection and the desserts are so delicious! If you plan on coming during dinner hours make sure to have a reservation since it’s such a popular place! Also parking might be a little difficult next to the restaurant but there is a paid parking lot within walking distance.

We went to Brick Fire Tavern and the place was popping. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us at the bar. The pizza was delicious, probably one of the best we've had. The crust was chewy and had these perfect charred bubbles. Would definitely go back!

The best and authentic handmade pizza in town. I had the Mamma Mia pizza and it was so satisfying. My husband had a fresh pasta bolognese and it was so divine. The Chianti wine was so great. And we finished it up with Pistachio Cheesecake and Cannoli, it was perfect. I will definitely coming back here again!

Great thin crust pizza. Not at all like the New York restaurant. Disappointed that they no longer serve the miso garlic shrimp pizza.

Fantastic pizza! We ordered four different types and all of them were amazing. Hard to choose a favorite. Beautiful location with a friendly staff. Highly recommend this restaurant, ill be happy to return any day.

This restaurant serves freshly baked, authentic Neapolitan pizza. The clam dish was bitter and not very enjoyable, so I left most of it. However, the pizza was absolutely delicious, and the servers were friendly, so I’m giving it five stars.

Wow wow wow. Im blown away. Pizza 10/10 the atmosphere is so authentic " I mean serious pizza business" vibes. The people that work there are paying attention to you for real! Price was right too. Crust was soft and crunchy and smokey from the wood in the oven. Probably the best pizza experience I've had in a long time. Give this review a thumbs up if you agree 👍

What a charming restaurant! The ambiance is delightful, and the brick oven pizzas are absolutely delicious with a crispy crust and fresh ingredients. The service was outstanding, with the staff being attentive and helpful throughout our meal. To top it all off, the cannoli dessert was divine – perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a wonderfully balanced cream. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable dining experience!

Great experience! We have been wanting to try this new pizza place for a while now. It was in the neighborhood and so we went on a Saturday evening and thought we would have to wait. Nope even though the restaurant was full our timing was perfect because there was 2 seats at the bar open.. Front row seats to the show as they may say, The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice, new and fresh. The bartender came right up and introduced herself "Ari" I believe was her name, she got us waters and gave us a few minutes to check out the menu. We started out with drinks -The Roman Hills and the San Carlo they were very good and crafted to perfection. We ordered Fresh Pulled Mozzarella appetizer and the soup of the day which was a mushroom soup both very good. I asked Ari what was good (I know waiters hate that question but since we had never been there I was curious) she told us that the flour they used was the best quality and the water was a certain PH and that is what makes their pizzas different. So pizza it was we ordered their "Mamma Mia!" pizza with Black Truffle Pate added to it. Wow it was so good, I do not usually eat the crust of pizzas but the dough was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and melt in your mouth on the inside. The only down side was that the crust on the bottom of the pizza was very flimsy kind of had to fold it over to be able to pick it up to eat. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to anyone that wants a good pizza experience.

True Neapolitan style pizza, very close to pizza in Napoli. Can never go wrong with a good napolitano margherita pizza, and this did not disappoint. Very friendly service, will come back for some fresh pasta, wine and more next time.

Staff is phenomenal. Excellent service! The gorgeous drink you see is the spirit walker 10/10! We ordered the meatballs and a pepperoni pizza with the diavola added. Food came fast and was so delicious!

Normal pizza is 12", cut in 6 slices. Pizzas have two types of sauces: San Marzano (Red sauce); Besciamella (White sauce). The pizza is thin with a puffy chewy crust. To start off, we had the House Meatballs as an appetizer. The appetizer had 3 large meatballs (~2" each) and 3 slices foccacia bread. Meatballs slightly spicy and very good. We tried the Mamma Mia pizza, which is like a meat lovers pizza. We also tried the Funghi pizza. We had a party of five and shared the dishes. Both of these were good. Lunch option: 8" pizza w/appetizer or salad. Great service, friendly staff. Parking in the back is shared with a few other businesses. About 20 stalls. Parking entrance is on 9th Avenue which is one way. Best to turn from Waialae Avenue onto 9th Avenue.

This place is soooooooo delicious!!! We had four pizzas between the three of us. Bee sting, Funghi, and two large plain pies for the 9 year old (see photo). Wow! Delicious! Mario and John were very friendly and helpful and the food came out quickly. Water refills were on point. Thanks to all!

Authentic Italian pizza! Got to meet the owner briefly when I picked up my order, and it's so amazing that he spent several months in Italy to learn how to make pizza in the traditional way! Ingredients were good, flavors excellent, staff very friendly. I did take out, yet took a look around the restaurant and it looks great! Very clean and modern, AND tables spread out for social distancing. Great place for a date night.

My family and I recently visited the Amalfi Coast, and dinner at BFT took us back to Italy. The wine, pizza, pasta, and dessert were delicious. My favorite was the mushroom pizza. Our server Sam was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Excellent!

The best pizza I had in Hawaii. It tastes real Italian restaurant while price is quite reasonable. The staff is friendly and the service is also not slow. I just had one appetizer and pizza but I definitely try other plats when I visit Hawaii next time. I would highly recommend here when you want to eat real pizza in Hawaii.

Got the NY meat and margherita plus truffle. both were excellent. the truffle added a really nice umami to the margherita. The creamy spots of ricotta was very nice too. If you like this style of pizza, you'll love this place. Crust was crisp and chewy on the inside...and flavorful. We were there for lunch, about 3/4 full but it still took nearly 45m for our pizza. We had a good view of the oven and it wasn't like they were constantly slinging pizzas so not sure why it took so long. Had a peroni and hopped cider. total w/ tip was ~$75. Dinner time, it gets jammed. We had call 3x in the past for a seat anytime between 530-7 and it was always a 45m-1hr wait. Go lunch time.

I could not have been happier to have dined here when I did. After being out all day they were more than able to make accommodations for myself and my stroller confined canine over at the bar. The energy was lively and the staff were friendly. The pizza I had was great, but I would like to try more the next time I visit. I'll be excited when I do!

Naples, Italy style Pizza in Hawaii. Thin, chewy with quality toppings. They have a good lunch menu, too. Appetizer & Entree choice. I was happy with my salad and the Pasta of the day choice!

Visiting from LA. Pizza and salad were delicious. The dough was great. Service was great too. One of the best pizzas I’ve had. Highly recommend.

We got the lemon verde pizza (on top) and the Satriale’s and added prosciutto. Super delicious. The Lemon Verde had the most perfect amount of light lemon flavoring in the ricotta and combined so well with the broccoli, wouldn’t have thought. And the sausage in the Satriale was pristine, so flavorful. Very authentic Napeloean style pizza 👌🏾 Ended the night with the pistachio cheesecake which was so light and fluffy, honestly not a super strong pistachio flavor but absolutely delicious 😍

Great napolitana inspired pizza! Can’t go wrong with the classic margherita. They also have pizza flavors of the day and we got the New York Grinder (pepperoni, arugula, red i think red pepper oil ? sauce, and cheese). The sauce is really flavorful and high quality! You can tell they use San Marzano tomatoes. The cannolis were good too, I think I would like a simple basic ricotta flavor, but they had a special that night and it was a Dulce de leche flavor Great break from the typical Oahu seafood/asian style restaurants so this was refreshing and would definitely come back again :)

Delicious Italian food and wine! Good portion and fair prices. We had the special pasta. The meatballs are a must!

My team came to Hawaiki Nui for the Molokai Hoe and we ate this place twice and it was insanely good. Staff were excellent, especially the blonde girl with glasses who was the best server we had in our entire trip in Hawaii. Couldn't recommend this place any more.

I like a more stiff crust, and don’t like the Neapolitan style as much as others, but everything else about this place was wonderful. The staff, the service, and the taste of the food were all impeccable.

This place was awesome!! We didn’t have a reservation and got there at 1:40 pm. We were on vacation and just happened to be in the area and wanted to try it. They still got us right in. We ordered a salad, pasta, and pizza so we could try it all. The food was excellent. The only downfall is I wish we would have found it sooner. Check the hours. I think they close from 2 pm to 4 pm. Make a reservation unlike us. Thanks for making us feel at home Ritchie!! You were awesome!

Pizza that rivals Napoli itself. Nicest staff who make sure you are appreciated and well cared for. I could not believe how good the margarita was. I wanted a second one, it was so good!

Came once on a date and came back because this place is the absolute best. Ive been a regular (coming at least once a week) for about 4 months now and Im still so excited about this place. The staff are fantastic, the food is delicious and it's the perfect place to visit with friends and leave with more friends. 5 stars for ever and ever.

We’re visiting from Los Angeles, and our hotel recommended Brick Fire Tavern — what a great suggestion! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Bolognese pasta with one meatball — an excellent choice. The sauce was a little different from what we’re used to, creamier in texture, and the portion was just right for sharing. We also split the Brick Fire Margherita pizza — the crust was perfectly crisp, and the ingredients were spot-on. The Caesar salad was classic, with crushed breadcrumbs instead of the usual croutons, which added a nice touch. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and upfront about a slight delay in the kitchen when we first arrived, but once our food started coming, everything flowed smoothly. They have a great wine selection and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. All in all, we give Brick Fire Tavern a solid five stars!

The food was fantastic! We had the OG Funghi pizza, Sals Bolognese Papardelle Pasta, and Pistachio Cake, all fresh and flavorful. Ari and Ritchie provided excellent service. The ambiance was clean and cozy, with a mix of table styles. There's a small parking lot on 9th Ave with free parking for 2 hours. I’ll definitely return—thank you for the great food and service!

There aren’t many good options for authentic Italian food in Honolulu (as an Italian born and raised i am giving you my two cents) but this is one of the spots for pizza. The ingredients are good. The pear salad was great!!!

Overall everything is overpriced and could be vastly improved :( spent almost $200 for 2 adults and 2 kids! Caesar salad needs more flavor as it’s bland, maybe the dressing is fresh and homemade but definitely something is missing. Beets appetizer was good but the light color beets were a little too big and tough to cut through. Mozzarella mousse was interesting and went well with beets, pistachios and balsamic drizzle. Probably wouldn't get it again unless it can be customized to include just the purple beets: Pizzas and pastas are just ok, nothing close to amazing. It would be a plus if they offered hot sliced bread with seasoned olive oil upon getting seated like other pizza/Italian restaurants would for their customers. The best thing I had with my nieces and sister on my last visit is the Nutella calzone which was really big but could use much more fruit and Nutella on inside the calzone. Everything in the calzone was mainly in the middle of it and the ends were just cooked dough. A small scoop of ice cream for $9 and then $2 for added drizzle of salted caramel, Nutella, etc. is a bit ridiculous. Not my first pick.

Great service, amazing taste for the kid's spaghetti with meatballs and great flavor for the toppings of the pizza. Quality cheese and sausage with fennel flavors. However the pizza crust was floppy and gummy in the middle. Once you took a slice everything slipped off. Most of the slices crust stuck to the plate from the wetness and ripped off when you took a slice.

Above average pizza place. Recommend making a reservation gets pretty busy. Pizza probably could have been cooked a little longer to get the cheese and toppings. A little warmer but the crust was good. Differently. Recommend going for a Little change of dining options from the rest of Honolulu

Impressive pizza oven. Tastes like homemade pizza dough. Wish it was more crisp on the bottom. The veggie pizza had great flavor from the basil, mushrooms and san marzano tomatoes. The Manila clams were very tasty and spicy. Loved the crunchy bread toasties to soak up the sauce. Update as of July 2024: we tried the gnocchi pasta with asparagus pesto (so yum) and then the funghi pizza and Bodega Grinder pizza. The cocktails were creative and tasty.

The food was just ok. The pizza was soggy and fell apart when you picked it up. The taste however was good. The pasta was extremely al dente, but the flavor was yummy. The worst part of the experience was the service. It took 45 minutes to get our food. No one came by while we were eating. We had 5 different servers over the course of the meals. The quality of the food was not good enough to overlook how bad the service was.

This place has been on our radar for a while. we thought about having Italian food tonight and said if it was meant to be we would eat here. We drove by a parking spot right in front of the door. We have been here 3 times and have been pleased with the food and service. We will be back again to try more from their menu.

Went for lunch during the weekday. It was a group of 6 to celebrate a birthday. My first time here, just so happens...they had a lunch prix-fixe menu for $24 (i think). Mine was the soup and 8 in pepperoni pizza. Pizza was thin crust, semi crispy was a nice balance of tomato sauce and pepperoni. If you compare it to Magoos or Bostons then it feels like less toppings were provided. I think it was a good balance, delicious, and filling. Service was on point. The server didn't neglect us, we were thirsty for water. Lol Atmosphere had a modern casual-fine dining feel, with moderate noise from the adjacent tables. Overall it's pricey, in comparison to other places. The pizza, I guess, would be considered "gourmet".

Great service and fun pizza place with many options to choose from. They also have specials that can be fun for patrons to try. The pizza is 12" and divided into 6 slices (if I'm not mistaken) so they are good for sharing if you are not a big eater and there are options for meat lovers and vegetarians. For a group of 0It does get pretty crowded so it's best that you make reservations ahead of time. They can also cater to large groups well without feeling like you're breaking the bank. I also like the service, the staff were all warm and fun to talk to and gave excellent recommendations. They also have fun desserts and we had the pistachio cheesecake and cannolli. For a group of 10 people we split about 6 pizzas, 2 cannollis and one cake.

The only VERA certified pizzeria in Hawaii. Good flavors with nice char. The atmosphere is really nice with a wood fired oven as the center piece. The ingredients are fresh. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

Ok so Brick fire is a really cool restaurant in China Town. The ambiance is great, the exposed brick, the brick oven in the corner; you can't beat it. We started with a few appetizers, I rarely order meatballs any where I go, I just do other people's meatballs but figured I had to give them a try. They were pretty good, I'm not a fan of beef in my meatballs hence why I don't ever order them out. I personally make mine with pork and have just become accustomed to this flavor. Overall though I think they did a good job. The best thing they did was use San Marzano for their sauce !!! Someone here definitely knows what they are doing. Now here is where things went off the rails for a minute. The fresh pulled mozzarella 🤦‍♂️ well the only thing that was pulled was the package rapper. There is no way it was fresh, it was the exact shape of the cheese I get at Target and cut the exact same way. Quite frankly unless you're making your own buffalo mozzarella you wouldn't get high marks from me anyway. The bread was great that came with it but what about some oil? What about some vinegar? Zero condiments for the bread or cheese. The pizza came out hot and fresh, had a great Smokey flavor and tasted good. We'll definitely have to go back and try some of the others for comparison. Fortunately we were there early enough to enjoy the pistachio cheese cake , not to sweet , great flavor. If you're in the area definitely give them a try.

Ono Italian brickfire pizza and pasta. I recommend the mushroom truffle pasta. You can taste the freshness. Service is always friendly here. I do like the restaurant itself which is airy and clean, but parking is only available if you are lucky. I also don't like the added fees.

A
Afro Desiac

I really like the pizza here. The Fernando was a pizza on special. It had onions, olive oil, sausage and I think garlic. I ate the whole thing, so yeah, I kinda liked it! 🤤 The pizza is wood-fired with minimal to no charring of the crust. The restrooms are designed for one person at a time.

Had high hopes and this place looked promising with the brick oven on display, crowds and always a wait. I love Neapolitan pizza, but I ended up disappointed and would rather have their pasta, which was amazing by the way. The service was very friendly and attentive. The hostess and the server were both very warm. The place was quite spacious so even with the crowd, it didn't feel cramped. There's a room at the back with high tables that could fit another 5-6 parties. About the food, I think the ingredients were great but the execution was not there. Check out my picture. My pizza slice was so soggy that it just draped over like Niagara Falls, and I had to roll it up to eat it. It's kinda gross to eat pizza that didn’t taste like pizza, or is this deconstructed pizza a new thing in town? They probably rolled the dough too thin or put too much oil/sauce on there? I don't make pizza so I don't know what exactly went wrong. I deliberately saved my pizza to take home hoping my air fryer would make the bottom crispy again. Couldn't make it work. On top of that, the charred part of the crust was so bitter, tasted like ash. I couldn't eat the whole slice. I got the mushroom but there's barely any garlic flavor. I had to add some minced garlic at home myself when I ate my leftovers. I still have 2 slices in the fridge. I’m debating whether I should even finish it. And you ask me, $30 after tax and tip for this? Hell no. I'm glad I got the pasta as well otherwise my whole meal would just be unpleasant. The pasta was bomb!!! I got the spicy vodka and the pasta was chewy and perfectly al dente. The sauce was delicious with an actual kick to it, unlike a lot of other Italian spots where "spicy" isn't a real thing. I found out their pasta could be purchased next door in a small shop, but too bad they closed when we're done dining. Next time I'll just get the pasta and sauce in the shop and not have to spend $29 on a plate of pasta with only a few pieces of sausage in it. Terrible value. Delicious pasta, fun atmosphere, great service, but for the price and the quality, (I can't get over with the super soggy pizza), I don't think I wanna come back.

This place was awesome! I came here with a big party of 13 and the service was fantastic. Our server did a great job taking care of us. We started with Caesar salads, which were okay, but I felt they could’ve used a bit more dressing. Once the entrées came out, though, everything was excellent. The pizzas had a doughy, mochi-like crust that I really enjoyed and each one had great flavor and depth. A standout was the miso spicy pie with garlic shrimp, which had just the right kicks of spice mixed in. My personal favorite overall was the bolognese pasta. The sauce was creamy despite being tomato-based and the meatball was cooked to perfection. Definitely a great spot to check out if you’re in the mood for some fire pasta or pizza!

The restaurant was clean and my wait times were all decent. The pizza was freshly made, but it was OK at best, definitely nothing special for Neapolitan pizza 7/10. My server Jen and another server with a motorcycle tattoo were the only staff that made me feel welcomed with there customer service. Pistachio Cheesecake was pretty good

Pizza is great. Service left a lot to be desired. Server #1 who served us at the start told us about the different vegetarian options. She mentioned a "veggie monster" pizza with olives mushroom arugula, red onions and mozzarella. I ordered it but the pizza that came out was missing olives and red onions. I asked the 2nd server who brought it out who didn't have any idea about the order. Asked 3rd server (who I was told was actually our main server) who told us the pizza is actually meant to be vegan. I had to explain to her what 1st server told me about it toppings including multiple veggies and mozzarella and she just told me there's no veggie monster there's only vegan monster as if it was a misunderstanding on my end. I told her I really just wanted the olives on my pizza but they unfortunately couldn't put it back in the oven and only offered olives on the side. I was surprised there was no admission of having made a mistake or offer to rectify. I just ate it the way it was. It tasted pretty good though- it is authentic neopolitan pizza. Annoyed with the service, miscommunication and no option to rectify.
