Tammy's Candy Kettle

Finally stopped for a bite to eat new years day. From the outside, you wouldn't know it but this place is nice and comfy. The owner is very personable and attentive. Food was very good... even offers 2lb burger! We had 2 sodas, bacon cheeseburger, rodeo burger, sweet potato fries and mozz sticks. Bill came to $45. I'd rather spend that on a mom and pop place like this then a chain eatery. There is limited seating and they adhere to first come first serve. While we were there, a family of 4 walked in and were told there would be about an hour wait as they had taken quite a few phone pick up orders. It seemed to be only Tammy(?) working when we were there as I didn't see anyone else. She explained her husband had a stroke and had no use of one side so orders were done as quick as possible. If you're driving on rt7, drop by.

Stopped today on the way back to Bennington from a hike. Seriously regret never stopping here before! The food was phenomenal, everything made fresh once ordered (not a minute before!) including weighing out burgers, making onion rings from scratch, and hand-cutting fries. Also tried the homemade candy and got some ice cream sandwiches to-go - amazing! Owned and solely operated by a husband and wife, Tammy was the sweetest and most considerate woman. She took extra care to make sure everyone was taken care of and happy. You could see the pride in her face when we are the food and told her how much we loved it. You just don't get service or food like this anymore! Great experience, great people, and can't wait to go back!

Had Lunch with a friend on the outside deck. Very accommodating, Tammy made me a Hot cup of the Best coffee I have had in Very Long time The service was excellent and Tammys nice personality was delightful.

Really good food. Everything is made fresh and not frozen. We all enjoyed our meals and the ice cream sandwiches were awesome! The owner was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. Would absolutely go there again.

We stopped here out of the blue, what a wonderful surprise! The owners do everything and make you feel like home! All the food is fresh scratch made and cooked so well. The burgers ...are the best I have had in a long time! Fresh beef, perfectly pattied, (they offer patties from 0.5 lbs to 2 lbs! Fire grilled ... juicy, flavorful, not greasy, cooked perfectly. Even the lettuce, tomato, cheeses and sauces are delicious! The fries are fresh cut and tasty. Cole slaw is sweet and refreshing! Their ice cream sandwiches and chocolates and candies make a great dessert. Highly recommend!

There is a distinct charm about this place. A very rustic rural nostalgic type of beauty that at times is also kinda eerie -kind of like Nantucket Or a rob zombie movie- Easily one of the best cheeseburgers you'll ever have in your life. SPOILER ALERT ⚠️ the TaterTots were absolute perfection-never had a bad 1...willing to die on that hill. Ordering ahead is a good idea.

My Fiancé and I stopped here on our way home from Vermont. We noticed the giant “Charbroiled Burgers” sign on our way to Vermont and spent the weekend talking about how we had to stop there and try the burgers on our way home. We had a feeling this place was a hidden gem and we were right! The burgers are incredible. I got the smaller 1/4lb bacon cheese burger and he got the 1/2lb Montreal Burger with hand cut fries. These were the best burgers we have ever had! Even better, everything is incredibly fresh. They don’t use pre-formed patties that sit in the fridge or freezer until needed. We ordered and Tammy’s husband, who cooks, pulled out the ground beef and made them from scratch on the spot. The same goes for the fries. Fresh cut potatoes for every order. So yeah, you might wait a bit but the wait is worth it for the freshest and most delicious burgers and fries! Tammy is so sweet too. It was an absolute pleasure chatting with her while we waited for our food. We’ll be back again if we’re ever in the area!

Disappointed we hadn't stopped here soon. Our ENTIRE experience at Tammy's was absolutely amazing food,service,and atmosphere. Literally the best burger I have ever eaten EVER!!!! It is an exquisite diamond in the rough. We look forward to becoming your favorite regulars.

Food was delicious and the owner was very friendly. The onion rings were superb (they were approved by one of my friends who doesn't even like typical onion rings)! One small note though: if you're looking for a place with very quick service, this place is not for you, though. That being said, if you're willing to wait a bit for amazing food, definitely plan to stop at Tammy's Candy Kettle! 😊💛

Tammy is absolute magic. Her burgers and handmade chocolates are incredible. I’m so glad I stumbled across this place on a whim. The interior of the restaurant isn’t much but that doesn’t matter when the quality of their food and the joy they bring to visitors is 10/10. Keep being you Tammy. All the best.

It was so good! Best burger I've ever had!! I highly recommend this place and the service was amazing! The owners Tammy and Charlie are wonderful. They were very respectful. We've had burgers from many states and this is the best one yet!

I had driven by Tammy’s several times and finally decided to go in tonight with my mom. I’m kicking myself for not going in sooner! The minute we walked in it felt like home. Tammy greeted us and took our order. We let her know it was our first time and she told us the history of this wonderful business while her husband cooked up our burgers. The food was absolutely outstanding - truly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. If you’re ever driving by you simply must stop in. Tammy’s is a gem that is not to be missed!

After passing this establishment many times on the way to visit family we finally decided to stop.... that was the best decision we made that day. The owners make you feel like your longtime friends, the food was unbelievably fresh and cooked to perfection. The hamburgers were so juicy.... so you better be prepared with a lot of napkins. LOL. We also tried the onion rings and corn nuggets which are made to order....the portions were huge. If you dine inside you get to browse and buy from their small antique store which is all around you. That's the decor. It was a fun stop and we will definitely be back!!

Somewhere on the winding roads of Route 7 near Hoosick Falls NY, there stands an unassuming home with peeling paint and old-world charm called Tammy's Candy Kettle. The home - teeming with wistful Americana vibes - greets passing motorists at a pitstop on the side of the road, one to elicit a point-out-of-the-window in passing, or a "Hey, look at that cute little store--". We finally stopped by today. A sweet, uncomplicated establishment offering nostalgic candies, homemade chocolates, and burgers rivaling those Manhattan hotspots garnering lines around the block, it is hard to believe that Tammy and her husband, Charlie, who cooks with one arm since his stroke left him partly paralyzed several years back, come from a nuclear engineering past. They settled out of their corporate careers some 30 years ago to focus on making some of the best burgers, ice cream sandwiches, and sweet treats you may ever enjoy. It all somehow lends to the precision of the food being so on-point, despite the humble exteriors. But as Tammy said today, "We work 14 hours a day and make 1/8th of what we made in our jobs, but we couldn't be happier." Well, we couldn't have been happier with the surprise and delight of our meal here today or the inspiring story of Tammy and Charlie. ..Oh, and Don't forget to take a maple ice cream sandwich out of the freezer to savor on the way home..

Absolutely fantastic place. It looks just like a weathered house on the drive by, but you'll see signs and flags out. It's extremely welcoming and small inside. The owners Tammy and her husband are just the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet. The burgers are SO juicy and so fantastic! The corn nuggets are some of my favorite here. Absolutely fantastic food. One of our favorite places to go!

We do not happen to live close but we will most definitely BE BACK. Tammy and her husband put their love and hard work into this business and it SHOWS.

I pulled over & when I walked in, was warmly greeted by Tammy herself. A lovely individual, Tammy helped me decide on some candies, & some of her homemade dark chocolate, while I waited for my food. She even helped me with directions to my motel! Tammy told me the cheeseburger would be worth the wait. Boy was she right. I just wanted a good, honest cheeseburger. I got it. Huge, fresh veggies on top, & a side of fresh cut fries. Delicious. I would 100% seek Tammy’s out again for the food & the service. I’d even detour to go here again! Thanks, Tammy, for the hospitality, the snacks, & the best cheeseburger this weary traveler could have asked for.

Just a quaint little eatery. The place is owned by a husband a wife, and they’re so sweet. We have been told many timess to give the place a try, and today we did. No regrets we both got a burger and oh my god. The flavor was amazing and it was cooked to perfection. We will be back!

The only thing better than the food is Tammy's personality. Talk about the sweetest lady. I've lived in this area for nearly 45 years and only started going recently. Boy do I regret that. As Tammy said herself they are the perfect example of don't judge a book by the cover. I tell people about this place and they doubt me and question me. Then they try it. So far everybody's agreed. Again if you haven't been here next time you're driving up rt 7 heading towards VT don't pass up the opportunity to eat here. Just an FYI this is a true mom and pop operation. It is Tammy and her husband. Don't expect stuff to come out of the kitchen in 10 minutes. A lot of love is put into the food.

Yes, it's a little expensive but you can't put a price on food made with love. They have a few different size burgers and it's hard work so they deserve a lot of praise. Super friendly and just nice to talk with. When you're within 45 min you absolutely should go. A big plus for using environmentally safe food containers. My wife, myself, and our friend Mike stopped by on a whim after a weekend of camping and were not disappointed! We got there just as they opened on a Sunday. Tammy and Charlie were super friendly and helpful. The burgers...! Mike and I had half pounders, and my wife had a quarter pounder. They were cooked exactly to order and were juicy and fill of char grilled flavor. The french fries were probably potatoes until we put our orders in. So tasty! They make burgers up to two pounds, and I'll probably go for a 3/4 or 1 pounder next time we go. Totally reasonable prices too The outside of the building is unassuming, but definitely go in and say hi to Tammy and Charlie and try a burger, you won't be disappointed!

I’m not going to lie. I never realized this place was actually open. The food was perfect!!! I had corn nuggets too but ate them too fast. lol. So yummy!!!

After eyeing this place during roadtrips, we stopped here and were so happy to find a full dinner menu with ice cream, candy and seasonally chocolates available, according to the friendliest woman who owns this gem! The brunch burger was fantastic and soft serve was impressively creamy. The owner told us about her chocolates and fudge in the colder seasons and we will definitely come back and make this a roadtrip staple !!

The absolute worst experience of my life. Owner extremely rude and accused us of looking in the barn while my friend was walking the dog on the driveway back to the car. She claimed that we called ahead and we were bringing 2 dogs and that she informed us that everyone must stay up by the road. But it wasn’t us who called and we only had one dog. She claims that there were no trespassing signs but we double checked and didn’t see any. What is going on in the barn? And to top it all off There’s no restroom. Stay away!
