This place is THE place! I’ve been more than a handful of times and it’s a 10/10 every time. I highly recommend attending Tu’s Vietnamese night on Tuesdays for a special treat. Both Will and Tu create magic every day they are open. Whether it is the flavorful broths, perfect bowls, delicious bao, or any breakfast dish…you will not be disappointed. The coffee is impeccable! In a time where it matters where you spend your money, we want a partner in our community. An establishment that pays living wages, offers internships, and always shows up for their community. We are lucky to have such a gem.

Exceptional experience all around! We came in as a large group, and while the restaurant was already bustling with activity, things moved quickly to get us our coffees and food. Service was friendly and efficient, and my dirty chai was delicious without being overly sweet! Every dish we ate was delicious and filling. I had the breakfast shakshuka, which came out quickly and not in a traditional preparation, but the flavors were spot on and the portion hearty. I couldn’t decide between the fried breakfast potatoes or cheesy grits, so went with both which was the right call. The potatoes had the ideal crunch and the grits were both unique and comfortingly familiar. My friend had the harvest bowl, which was a beautiful combination of ingredients that worked well together in every bite. They also had a lovely selection of pastries and bagels that I will definitely be returning to sample. The space is also very cool, a modern industrial feel that wouldn’t be out of place on a bustling corner in Brooklyn, and other cool businesses to browse while you digest.This spot is definitely the highlight of all the culinary experiences that we have had in this region, and we can’t wait to come back!

This newly opened cafe/restaurant offers a delightful atmosphere and a diverse menu with something for everyone. I highly recommend their Americano – it was truly excellent, surpassing many others I've had. I also sampled a pistachio croissant, which had a lovely soft and chewy texture, though the pistachio flavor was a bit subtle. Beyond the delicious food and drinks, this spot boasts ample parking and very reasonable prices. The outdoor seating area provides a beautiful view, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy your meal. Whether you're looking for a leisurely brunch or a quick coffee break, this cafe is definitely worth a visit.

Came here on a Tuesday for their Vietnamese menu and had a stellar meal! We loved everything we ordered (banh beo, banh xeo, coconut noodles), but the star of the show was the tropical fruit ice cream sundae for dessert. Serious flavor explosion 🤯🔥 Service was warm and attentive and the chef is awesome!! Can't wait to return to try the other menus!

Stopped in for dinner on my trip to Beckett on way back to NYC. Menu looked fire and food was amazing. great flavors and cool vibe. coming back next month and will eat here again. few other heaters on the menu I want to try.

This is hands down the yummiest, coolest spot in North Adams and Williamstown, MA. Situated in a very well-renovated mill building, breakfast, lunch and dinner are all well worth it- delicious food, much of which is grown at the owner’s farm- from fabulous pastries, french toast, eggs etc in the morning to the best steak i have ever had at night, this restaurant is a fantastic addition to the Northern Berkshires. The owner, Tu, works hard to insure good service and quality food- support this local business- my two cents…

My sister & brother took me to State in celebration of my birthday. The service was excellent, the food really good! I had mushroom stroganoff, that I wish I could replicate. The salmon was amazing and beautifully plated as was the steak, both cooked to perfection. Our drinks were ordered from the distillery next door which were wonderful. The new restaurant is awaiting their liquor license. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the place very much. It was an enjoyable evening had by all! And I highly recommend. Hats off to the Chefs!!

Fantastic meal! Very creative dishes like the smoked carrot tartare. The wings are a must have! By far the best wings I’ve ever had, and the owner told me they do 3 styles, varying with the day. And the mushroom stroganoff with brisket is divine. All of the staff were wonderful. I highly recommend, but please make a reservation! We were very glad we did.

Absolutely incredible. Went on a Tuesday when the menu is Vietnamese. Likely the best Vietnamese food I've ever had (including New York, Chicago, London, Paris). The spring rolls and chicken wings in fish sauce are highly recommended. The shaking beef is also fantastic - incredibly tender and flavorful. Go! Go right now! Go yesterday!

What a delightful place! We went on a Tuesday, which is the night of the week when they serve a Vietnamese menu. The food was divine (particularly loved the fish sauce chicken wings and the beef main dish!!), the server was really friendly, and the chef came round to our table to ask if we were enjoying everything. 10/10!

Just finished a Mexicali skillet that was so delicious, I didn’t want it to end. The corn was perfectly browned and the side of potatoes had a perfect crisp. Savored every bite. My husband had a side of grits that were also delicious. The pastries look perfect too. STATE food+ drink is the kind of place where you want to return with friends. The space is beautiful and the people are lovely. A real gem. ♥️🍳

What a great spot! We had sandwiches and dirty chai. Great flavors and fresh. Met the owner and some of his staff during the end of the afternoon shift. It was a true pleasure to discover this place. You won't be disappointed. You can tell the owners truly care about every detail, there staff and the community. BRAVO! Well done!

We are so so fortunate to have the talents and taste of Chef Tu Le in our community! State is such wonderful addition to Greylock Works. I love enjoying a delicious breakfast skillet after my Friday morning yoga class, or meeting up with friends in the evening for a dinner that surprises and delights in its variety and tastes! Wonderful atmosphere . Great menu with lots of options for people with dietary restrictions . Options of both lunch and dinner . The Bahn Mi with pork is like a religious experience for me . What a crew that has come together to create a gathering space for all to eat. Amazing vibe, freshest of foods, unique eats, all made with passion and bursting with flavor. Absolutely love this place already. The breakfast is outstanding and I recommend saving room for a pastry. Actual free refills on coffee, too, even iced. Tu Le and his team have created another much-needed and much-appreciated place to get simple food done well.

This place is wonderful! The menu is simple and refreshing —each dish is a thoughtful blend of flavors and presentation, with familiar ingredients in the most delightful ways. You can truly feel the passion and imagination behind every plate. Monday’s (southern) and Tuesday’s (Vietnamese) dinner are my favorite! IYKYK What makes this place even more memorable are the chefs. Not only are they incredibly talented, but their warmth and hospitality shine through.

Came here for a girl's weekend with a party of 9 for lunch. Tu was incredibly communicative and kind when our party changed booking date and time. The food itself is authentic, fresh, deeply flavorful and nourishing. I can't wait to find myself back at State soon!

Wonderful Vietnamese food - not just the best in Berkshire County, which is a low bar - but would be among the best on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where we are during the week. And great coffee and breakfast pastries from the terrific Scratch Bakery. What more could you ask for? What a great surprise.

First time visiting and really enjoyed it. Went for brunch. It was steady busy on a Sunday morning, but not crowded. The staff and owner were more than attentive. The food was SO good. I was happy they had dairy free options. Definitely going to try dinner next time I am in town.

The food was delicious (noodle bowl with lemongrass chicken was fantastic)! We ordered French toast for the table and that was the perfect move. The staff are amazing and the owner is so kind! Rearrange your life to go to their monthly drag brunch. So fun!

My partner and I found this place a couple of months ago and have been back several times for breakfast, lunch, and Tu's day Vietnamese dinner. The food is amazing, the cappuccinos are the best I have ever had, and the people who run it are truly lovely.

First....spent a few moments talking to the owner Tu Le post meal. My wife and I sat at the bar and watched an amazing dance of preparation occur. Our food was on BBQ night and was absolutely amazing....think New Orleans in North Adams....after speaking to Tu, we can only compare him to Alan Wong, a brilliant creative chef in Hawaii. Tu gave off the same vibe and his absolute care to his product truly shows...food without this type of love is just food and Tu and his best friend Chef ( that I forgot his name because I am old) really hit it out of the park with each bite taken. If you desire 5 star food in a cool funky loft environment with energetic background musical ambiance, then get your tush to State in North Adams....you wont be sorry. Trust us, we are high maintenance 😄

The baked goods from Nostalgia Scratch are not to be missed! We happened to arrive at a time when the kitchen was backed up so it took a very long time to get our food. But once we did, it was delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend and go again!

Personally, I’ve only been for breakfast. I’ve heard it’s better for dinner. I sure hope so because I left feeling unsatisfied by the measly yogurt parfait that I ordered. Perhaps the shakshuka that someone else in my group ordered would have been better. Service is kind of slow but fine. On the whole, wouldn’t come back again.

We really wanted to support this place! The items on the menu are ambiguous. I ordered a bowl and it came as a cold green salad with an egg on it. I was going to just suck it up and eat it, but as I was eating it, I liked it less than less. The server never came back to see how things were. We had empty water glasses. She finally came back and left us the check and we asked the question About the item on the menu. She got the chef to come out and he was very argumentative with us. Asking why we waited so long to complain about it. We told him that the server never came back. Never filled our water glasses either. He continued to challenge us… Why did you eat the potatoes? Really a humiliating experience. We had asked to get a burrito instead and waited a solid 20-30 minutes and it never came even though the server said it should be out in a few minutes. Finally, after 30 minutes, she came back out again and said do you still want the burrito? We said oh my God we ordered it a half an hour ago. They said they could still make it for us. We opted to leave. Bummer. Note: they did take 50% off but I left hungry and needed to go to another restaurant

I really want to like this place, but that was the worst pho I've ever had. It didn't come with basil/lime/bean sprouts the meat they used was really fatty (I would say the proportion of meat to gristle was about equal) and came in huge chunks (like 2"X2"), and the broth was not flavorful. The person I was with really enjoyed her food and the service was really wonderful. I just don't think I'd come again after that pho

Went on a Sunday at 12pm for brunch. The experience could have been better overall. Very limited pastries available when we arrived (they simply hadn’t ordered/made enough) and the last pistachio roll sold out while we were in the queue. We were dissuaded from ordering brunch as the cashier said there would be a 40 minute wait for hot food. The cashier was super-slow, taking her time with each order. This “personal service” wasn’t so charming for the other folk in the queue, as it meant that the line moved very slowly. The kitchen was a shambles: The chef was mentally collapsing under the strain of ~10 orders and his sous chef was standing around doing less than nothing. The barista had to go over and help get her orders into shape. The cashier was allowing customers to order off menu (which wasn’t helping) and taking orders for items they had run out of, like grits (it’s 12pm during a brunch service, people, and you’re out of grits???!?). People were walking out after interacting with the cashier when they were told that couldn’t get hot food within a reasonable time; and that’s after waiting for 15 minutes just to order. The good pastries and a solid venue was let down by shamblolic staff who don’t know how to run a cafe and a chaotic kitchen where the chef and his sous were in the middle of a mental breakdown. Two stars because I want this place to succeed and do well, but boy! did it come in well below expectations. p.s. tell your customers that the common tables are meant to be shared, and shouldn’t be “reserved” by spreading out as much as physically possible.

This was very disappointing after finding a place to have breakfast near us. Took my mother here this morning, couldn't find any hours of business anywhere on the door or on any signs. The man who appeared to be the manager/owner? Came out and put two menus for display by the door while mumbling something about it's almost 9am.. which didn't make sense to us as we wanted breakfast and the menu he put out was for brunch at 9:30, we assumed they must be open for breakfast and walked in at 8:57, the doors were unlocked. The man again came up to us and said "oh you just want pastries then?" I was so uncomfortable I said yes and we walked to the pastry counter. Another couple enter 1min behind us and the man announced well I guess we are open, it was then 8:58. We won't be back, I wish I would've left then but with all the staff staring I felt the need to purchase something. Rude for no reason. A simple Good Morning we don't open for another 3mins could have sufficed.

I’m sure if you are happy with your experience everything is just fine. However, if dissatisfied, you can expect a hostile , rude, defensive, passive aggressive and nasty attitude from the chef/owner. I ordered a nova lox plate, with an expectation based on the wording of the menu that was completely different from what was served. I sent it back, accepted the offer of a refund and that should have been the end of it. But no—multiple rounds of defensive and insulting argument from the chef/owner. A more reasonable attempt to further explain from another person working/cooking—and that is fine, every restaurant has a right to prepare dishes how they want. However, ideally the language on the menu should set reasonable expectations and when that fails, there’s really never a reason to turn it into what this experience became. I don’t recommend this place and won’t be returning ever. It’s sad, as I love to support local businesses and enjoy eating out at a wide array of our local eateries. Break Room will be greatly missed, and it’s a shame their space has morphed into this disappointing place.

WORST SERVICE OF MY LIFE. Food never came. It took 7 minutes to get seated, 20 minutes until they took our order. The waitress was incredibly rude and the manager was very unhelpful. We decided to walk out and just pay for our drinks since the food hadn’t come yet and it had been an hour. The manager told us they hadn’t started it yet and it would be out in another 10-15 minutes. We ordered the check to leave and the manager tried to charge us 87 dollars for the food we had not even gotten. Then the cook came out to yell at us. Everyone had an attitude. There are many other good options in the area but this is one to skip.
