I remember coming here when I was younger with my dad. So I decided to go back. I love the brisket and sausage! You get an ok amount. Not too much not too little. But for what you pay for I think it's worth it. The beans weren't all that great like I thought. But overall I still liked everything. Maybe just on that day they weren't that good ? Because this place stayed packed from when I got there till I finished eating and left ! So maybe ordering for to go before you get there would be smart.

Absolutely the best BBQ baked potatoes in town, the place is simple but definitely worth it. It has a very authentic old school Texan feel to it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys bbq

I had a very tasty brisket sandwich, delicious fries, and fantastic sweet tea. The barbeque sauce was very sweet, and I didn't care for it too much, but overall, I would definitely visit again. Although barbeque sauce is a big deal in the case, I am still giving it a 5 because EVERYTHING else on MY plate was pleasing. I saw that barbeque baked potato looked really good on another customers plate.

This is by far my favorite place to eat bbq food. Their brisket is so delicious, it's not hard to chew and it's not chewy either. The barbecue sauce is tasty too. The service is always great. I recommend the farmer's deluxe fries and the giant baked barbecue potato. They also have deserts here and a good variety of drinks.

The food is always good. Enjoyed the turkey stuffed baked potato. The service was good, and the front counter help was friendly. The size drink you get is super large. The turkey baked potato was delicious. The rest room was clean, which was important to me. Overall, everything was on point.

First time here! Not disappointed. Love the 3 meat plate, shrimp basket and burger basket we got. This was an on the way home pick up after errands. Nice crunch to the butterfly panko shrimp and fresh got the drive home. Almost thought they were coconut shrimp. Homemade Tartar sauce with chunky pickles was great for dipping. And I even prefer tapatío with cocktail or other hot sauce for my shrimp but this was a very enjoyable bakery with about 6-8 shrimp. The burger was a good half pound and tasty. Not dry and not super greasy. The fries must’ve been fresh cut shoes string size it just a little thicker. So good. I like season all in my fries if they are homemade but to each their own. Still great! The farmer supper and 3 meat plates stayed moist on the ride home. Tender brisket not dry. Rib meat peels off easily. Jambalaya had a good variety of veggies and dirty rice style with a minor spice which I like. Creamy Mac & cheese. Very straightforward barbecue and soul food style options. Great but for $70 and plenty of leftovers for 3. We were undecided too on oxtails, fish platter really everything but barbecue was the standard we wanted to base returning off. We’ll be back for the fried baskets desserts, and specials. Team did a great job managing the counter and kitchen to get orders in and out, handle customers, making additions or corrections to orders to keep the line moving.

I frequent this place a lot simply because they’re one of the few restaurants that still have vegetable plates on the menu! I get the veggie plate all the time along with the Farmers supper that comes with 4 meats: beef, links, ham, & pork rib. Love the bbq sauce & the meat is always tender with great flavor! I can usually eat off the plate twice! This place is definitely a go to in my book!

Honestly when I say one of my All-time Favorite restaurants I am totally serious. I have been eating at Hungry Farmer for more than 30 years. Always Hot, Flavorful and Delicious BBQ. From the Huge potatoes used in the BBQ Baked or the Chicken Baked to the Chopoed Beef or sliced beef sandwiches which the carver slices the Brisket in thick slices and Doesn't have a scale to weigh the portions. I love the fries also. I normally don't put ketchup on fries at other places but, here I get the bottle and hose them down. They seem to have a different flavor that I enjoy. Oh and the desserts let me tell you the peach cobbler is the bomb. Serverd Hot, sweet with really big pieces of peaches and nice thick crunchy crust. Overall a Great BBQ restaurant about to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. Highly recommend it. 😋

Last time I ate at Texas BBQ was 12 years ago and finally br able to eat again during my visit in Houston, TX. In the past, I went to Rudy's but people said that the quality had decreased over time and the meat was dried. Decided to try at this restaurant, no regret. The meat was not dried at all and delicious. Really recommend eat here. The sauce was yummy as well.

It's a beautiful place! We chose to eat in the outdoor seating area. It was a pleasant experience ceiling fans and Christmas lights. We ordered the Rib dinner w/ 2sides and Chicken fried steak. If you're in for a special treat, this could be the place. BBQ sauce is really tasty. A sandwich is really good, but the bake potato with meat is simply delicious. It's huge. You may end up asking for a to-go plate. It too big with good ingredients. Yeah, treat yourself!

This place is very close to the freeway, which makes it extremely convenient. The food is better than average, and the desserts were fantastic. The staff was ok. The seating is rather dated but can accommodate families well. They have extremely small restrooms, so just know that you have to pack some patience with them. First time trying and I stopped because I saw their parking lot was full. Very nice variety of barbeque, smoked turkey legs and some southern food options like ox tails. Lots of side dish options too than just the basics. Clean, good and fast service. They are generous with their portions unlike other big named bbq places that charge you more for less. I went for the bbq stuffed baked potatoe but instead I ordered the two meat plate. Tender and tastey. I would definitely say this is where the locals dine for bbq and with good reason. Casual, affordable and great tasting!

This place is good, but it could be better. I had the beef rib platter and a chopped beef baked potato, you can't beat it for $20. One of the ribs was a bit too char for me but my parents like it, however the one in the picture was just right! The potato was fully loaded and had all the yummy fixins with chopped beef as well. The sauce was cold, but I popped it in the microwave for a few seconds and it was goood. Definitely made in house. I will be returning and trying out more plates in the future. 4 out of 5 marons!!

This is not really the place if you're seeking authentic pit smoke BBQ. The meat tastes more like oven baked. For a takeout I ordered the fried pickles for the $6 I paid. It was a small portion I thought and very greasy. My first visit to this place. The line moves quickly and the time you receive your order after placing is fast. I ordered a rib plate with collard greens, and green beans. The green beans are good, but the greens have a flavor thats similar to air freshener or some cleaning product - could be some kind of herb I’m not a fan of. I was disappointed to hear the only drink available for refill is the tea. Albeit a bit pricey; overall, I think it’s a good place to get your grub on.

Came on a Friday at 12:30, parking was sparse. It’s small in the inside and gets pretty loud. The inside only sits 4 people max comfortably. I got the chef salad with turkey. The turkey was really good but the vegetables looked old. The only kids meal they have is chicken tenders.

I usually get a burger because the flavor is really good. However I have 2 big gripes about the burger meal. 1. The poppyseed bun top you use falls apart while eating. Not sure if it's because of the bun quality or how you store it but its annoying to eat a good burger and the top is flaky and falling apart. Get a better bun! 2. Love the flavor of your fries, but why are they always chopped so short? Fries need to be eaten with your hands, not with a fork. Your fries require a fork, otherwise you'll be dipping your hand in ketchup which gets annoying. I attached a pic which shows the burger upside down. I didn't get a pic of the top. It was so messy and annoying to keep having to use 2 paper towels between bites because the top falls apart.

We came to Houston March 1998. When we first arrived I managed an MGA for a year. After 1 year I opened a Nationwide Insurance agency at I45 & Crosstimbers. The Hugry Farmer was few doors down in the Strip Center, so I would have lunch there once or twice a. At that time the food was decent. I am not sure what happened but the quality of the food has definitely deteriorated. Based on our last visit I will never eat or recommend this establishment to anybody else! Literally everything that they served needed seasoning. The collard greens came out of a can. While the BB wasn't bad everything else's was horrible!

The Jambalaya rice is on point. The brisket, chicken fried steak, mac and cheese, coleslaw slaw, cornbread, and potatoes were bland and off putting. The BBQ sauce is sweet, but otherwise flavorless. We spent 60.00 on this meal and managed a few bites of each thing. I left it in a friend's fridge. I gave her the Mac and cheese after not eating for 3 days due to strep and more than half was still in the container 2 days after we left her house. The only way to heat this was with the assistance of the D9. We still left over half a lb of brisket behind.

The bbq was dry with little flavor. Pulled pork was dried out and not pulled but chunks. Ribs were very lean. Brisket was some pieces fry others lots of fat. Sides were cold. Maybe it was an off day but I won’t be returning. It is a cool old spot.

Let me start by saying I have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. I went tobplace a to go order and my bill was $75! I was shocked because I ordered 3 sandwiches and 2 baked potatoes. I asked several times for a detailed receipt and was not provided one. When I got home, i discovered why my bill was so high, I was charger $15 for baked potatoes with meat (which is not what I had irdered) I called the manager, Hibiscus, who would not do anything for me. He said unless you say no meat when you order your baked potatoes, you will get meat (even though I was not asked what type of neat I wanted) if I had been given my receipt In the restaurant. I would have been able to correct the situation. My lesson, first I will NEVER go back and second, check your food before you leave the restaurant. I have never been to a place that refuses to give you a detailed receipt, mine was hidden in the food bad!!

They didnt have good customer service this evening. The snaggle tooth short lady that was working ..wasn't working . She was standing there trying to flirt with a worker who looked like he could have been her sons age. I didn't appreciate the way she left my grilled chicken salad on the counter even though I was standing there waiting. Instead she was trying to be playful to the worker who was actually a doing his job. It was making me very angry she kept putting one item at a time in my bag slowly while joking with the kid worker and meanwhile my shredded cheese on my salad was turning into melted cheese. I paid $94 to have my meat cook, and they stole my meat leaving my family with no dinner worst of my life I would not recommend this place, not in a lifetime and still whoever said it was the owner on the phone with me curse me out like if it was my fault.

We called in our to-go order , and informed the employee that took the order that we were in Spring and it was a 40 minute drive to get to them . We were well aware that the restaurant closed at 9:00 p.m. , which is why we called in our order to make sure it was ready when we got there . It was 8:00 when we called in the order , and it was 8:43 when we pulled up at the restaurant . As we were standing in line to let somebody know we were waiting for our to go order, we heard the cook tell the people in front of us that they were lucky because they ordered the last baked potatoes . When the lady asked us what we would like we let her know that we had to go order that we had called in 45 minutes earlier . She looked at me , then looked at my boyfriend , then looked at the employee behind her and giggled . She then walked around to the Cook line and whispered something to the Cook as she glared at me over the pass bar , and then return to us to inform us that they voided the order because we waited too long to pick it up . When we told her that we had informed her on the phone that we were 40 minutes away , and her exact words were "no problem, we close at 9:00"... she proceeded to tell us that she couldn't do anything about it because they were out of baked potatoes now and we took too long to get our order. When I asked how to contact the owner, she told me that she would not give me the name or number to contact. This all happened the day before yesterday, I tried to call yesterday she said that the owner wasn't there, I tried to call today and I was told the same thing. Assuming that she recognizes my voice, I think this I think this is absolutely unacceptable! I have been coming to this restaurant for a really long time, it's one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. Which is why I'm willing to drive 40 minutes out of my way to get their food. But the lady that served us that night or rather didn't give us service, looked at me like I was disgusting. But seeing is how I was told that she would not give me a way to contact management or the owner , I really feel as I have no choice . I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever been treated this badly in any Houston restaurant. I've been an nro trainer in a restaurant for years , and my boyfriend is the operations manager for a restaurant chain . So I do feel the need to get this out in the open , and hopes that I will get a response from management or the owner . I would really hate for our relationship with hungry farmer to end here . I know I've spent more at this restaurant than that employee's been paid the entire time she's worked there hands down .

My order was wrong when I got home. I called they told me they can remake it if I made it by the time they close. I live 25 minutes away. So that was a waste of money. I won't be back. Not my fault it was busy when I came. I was told I couldn't come tomorrow

I ordered the baked potato thru uber eats not what I expected I asked for extra cheese and chives didn’t receive. The barbecue sauce that come on it was watery. I had to add extra seasoning because the potato had no flavor thank god they didn’t put the extra bbq sauce in there because it just wasn’t right

What the heck is this??? Took my food to go n my spicy sausage all dry up look old.. shame on the people that prepare the food would u eat that???..... $15.95 for a mix dinner n I couldn't enjoy everything...

I love love love hungry farmers my husband got a chopped beef baked potato I got the deluxe fries and my got the chopped beef sandwich the food was absolutely horrible $44.23 down the drain and because I’m didn’t take a picture I won’t get refunded I’m very disappointed in the food I was so ready to eat it and I did cause I wasn’t wasting our money but they will never ever get me again

It's a bad place. I called to ask what time they couldn't prepare a brisket for me the next day, and they told me 4:00 p.m. I arrived before 4:00, and in the end, they told me they weren't going to cook it! If they had told me beforehand, I wouldn't have bought the brisket.

Awesome customer service!!!! I had the chop beef fries .it was horrible. 14 bucks for some cheap shoe string fries that's half cooked .the meat on it taste like water .it had a weird taste all together. The sour cream seemed old .hardly any green onion or cheese !!!!! I learning my lesson never get two of something for the first time !!!!!

At least they tried, smh. The service was good, but not the food. It really lacked favor. My family And I just moved here a week ago from Chicago and I was craving bbq. They need to add more seasoning to their food, I got the mixed meat plate with rib sausage and brisket with potato salad and bbq beans. The only thing that was good was the sauce. Now I need to find a real good bbq place

My husband brought me and him a baked potato from hungry farmers 🥔 chopped beef 32.00$ Sunday 2/15/26 around 12 noon when I started to eat the potatoe it had no smell no taste and the meat was grey even when covered with barbecue sauce!Straight food poisoning me and my husband so Monday at 2:21pm I called hungry farmers and talked to someone by the name of hobie he said he was the manager I don’t know who he is but he thought it was funny not funny to me at all I would love to talk to the owner !!!

Dry overcooked brisket and ribs smothered in bbq sauce. Mashed potatoes were dry and salty with gravy that seemed to be from a can. Dirty rice was cold and dry. $40.00 went to the trash.

The food is terrible, and I might add that my chopped beef sandwich was served cold. The coleslaw tasted like it came from an old refrigerator. I remember this place used to serve the best BBQ in town... but not anymore.

Sadly this place has just gone downhill. The waitresses are new and nice, def miss the old employees, nothing against them. The food is just bad, I’ve ordered multiple times, baked potatoes, sliced beef baskets, and it’s always bad lately. The baked potatoes are so over cooked, the potatoes taste like dry sand, even with extra condiments. Same with the brisket, it’s so dry, even with extra bbq sauce. We’re going to take a break and come back in a few months in hopes that they might see these reviews, and decline in customers and retry a few things.

Hungry Farm Barbecue baked potatoes is horrible. I got one today and the sauce tastes and look like water. It has NO flavor. I’ll never go again.

The baked brisket potato was extremely underwhelming. No flavor, extremely watery sauce and almost next to no brisket on there. Waste of time and money.

Simply put… this food was AWFUL. It had absolutely no flavor, the sauce was watery, the drink was watered down, I think the bread was old, and the brisket was so dry I had to spit it out. The beans came out of a can and the potato salad had no seasoning and was soupy. I really wanted to give it a shot… but soon as I got home… I started regretting eating there. It’s also in the hood.. While I was eating… this man walked up behind me like he was doing a drug transaction and handed me a flyer to attend a party. I did NOT feel comfortable. I’m tired of food influencers straight up LYING about these restaurants.

🚩🚩🚩Only disappointment. We came from GA for a cruise hearing how good Texas Beef Ribs are. We decided on this place because it wasn’t far. First, we walk up and there is no smell of BBQ outside. 🚩That should have been sign enough but we decided to try it anyway but thankfully, we did not to over do it because it was so plain Jane. We walk in and can smell something. Nothing that says this is going to taste real good though. As soon as we ordered, 20 seconds later our food was ready. 🚩I ordered the 2 meat plate ($17): upgraded 1 meat for beef ribs (+$3) and beef brisket, beans and mac and cheese. It comes with two slices of white bread. The beef rib texture was good - it came right off the bone with little effort. It was not hot though, maybe room temperature. 🚩Why do people serve food that is not hot? I don’t know. Then it was essentially tasteless. The BBQ sauce flavor was non existent. 🚩It needed salt. 🚩Actually, everything needed salt. 🚩The brisket was dry, dry, dry. 🚩It tasted old and also not hot either. both the ribs and brisket had “BBQ” sauce poured over it that was the consistency of gravy… 🫠 😵‍💫 I didn’t get the made from scratch taste. The mac and cheese was ok. I appreciated it was actual cheese. It needed salt also. If someone could just add salt and bake this mac and cheese it would taste so much better. My son refused to eat the beans (he LOVES baked beans). I don’t like beans so I didn’t try them. I did not eat the bread. I later see they have cornbread which I asked about but she acted like they didn’t have any before so they switched the bread for cornbread. The cornbread was DISGUSTING. 🚩🚩🚩It was kind of damp looking on the bottom but yet dry in the middle? How does one achieve that?? Still questioning. It was so old and gross tasting I just threw it in the garbage. I didn’t photograph my husband’s plate. He got the Sampler plate ($22) with brisket, beef sausage, ham and pork rib. His pork rib was cold/room temp with not a lot of meat. Same for the beef sausage: dry and cold. He said the ham tasted good but also cold. 🚩🚩🚩 Sweet tea was good, sprite was good. The cup was very big!! Maybe at a 4.5 or higher the food is actually good. I make much better tasting ribs at home. Anywhere in Atlanta sells better tasting ribs. It was all just so disappointing. I would never return to this place. Maybe if you actually get a fresh rib that was just made it may be worth it. You should call in advance though. Everything tasted like it was left over from days ago. We arrived around 2pm so there is literally no reason why it wasn’t fresh. Do you make this food every day??? Please start. How do you have a 4 star rating? I can’t recommend anything here…. We honestly deserve a refund. Parking lot/ shopping center was dirty and run down looking. Asphalt was not maintained and had oil stains. 🚩🚩🚩Summary: food tastes old, served at room temperature, meat is dry and needs salt. Mac and cheese is decent if warm but still needs salt. Beans repel children. Cornbread is inedible. Don’t eat here.

Went in here to get some food but my tap wasnt working. I didn't think of it but I could have ordered Uber eats. Instead he stared at me as I walked out.. I turned around and asked him why he was staring then he continued to stare as I tried to leave again.. he refused to give me his name and said he was GM don't go here if you black. My ribs taste like they came out of the oven my lady got the burger that was over powered by lettuce the fries seasoned good the beans tasted burnt and the potato salad was bland & last but not least my coke had to much syrup in it

I ordered two loaded baked potatoes. The cashier was too quick to ring up the total at $30! Turns out she decided to add meat to my order that I never requested! I didn't want meat, she didn't ask me anything about meats. If I had ordered meats, shouldn't I have a choice about the type of meat?! Over priced menu! Poor service! BBQ sauce is so sweet, I hate sweet BBQ!!! I will never return. Gabby's is better!
