Fun and great atmosphere!
Not sure why, but this particular location has THE best queso. Each time I visit Austin I make a point to stop by and order some to-go so I can take it with me on my flight home. I can't speak for all locations, but the queso in the Nashville location wasn't even close. Bartender Eric was very friendly and made a great negroni.
Kung Fu Saloon is a great bar with awesome service and very friendly bartenders! The atmosphere is like one big party with great music! I highly recommend this bar over others on Rock Rose!
Arcade games, skiball, booze! A nerd's paradise. Had a whole lot of fun here, hanging with friends and playing free skiball. (I was the one that accidentally threw a ball on to the top of the net and got it stuck there, sorry! Hope this good review makes up for that)
Great place for team meeting/building activities with drinks. Lots of game sto play
This is a good spot. I enjoyed going there with friends from out of town. They have a fun atmosphere. The staff is friendly. I would recommend this to anyone. Austin is the best!!!
Love this little place. Great drinks and the game selection is fun. Perfect for wanting to get out but not wanting to get too turnt.
My kind of place! Not too crowded but definitely happening. So much better than downtown. I love the DJ on Friday nights. This will be my new spot!
Checked out Kung Fu Saloon at the Domain this past Saturday during the Rock the Rose street concert. Classic arcade games+nostalgic board games+amazing drinks = I will be back! If you haven't already met up with your friends here for a round of drinks and jenga on the patio it's time you did!
Free games while drinking is always a great idea. We were kept busy with multiple games of Jenga, connect four, and skeeball. There were many other age games available but we didn't partake
Sunday, free games!! $4 mimosas!!!! The variety of games was great I enjoyed my time at the domain because of this bar, staff and patrons are so friendly!! I will definitely come back
Great bartenders. Very attractive always asking if you need anything. So impressed compared to other here.
I love this place!!!! The previous people who left the 1 star reviews need to stay home or move to Buda!!! Or better yet to somewhere in the woods. I love that kung fu opened up this location at the domain. The interior is so nice the music is amazing. The drinks are delicious. The staff is incredible. Thank you for bringing my favorite place to drink to the Domain!!!!!
First time here, seemed like a cool chill spot where you can play games, watch sports/whatever is on, and hang with friends in a noncrowded environment. Drink prices were standard for night life. They check ID when entering, at least at the time when we went.
Incredible vibe. If you're looking for an old school arcade with a bar smack dab in the middle. Then you've found the right place. They've even got a patio outside. Smoker friendly, gamer friendly, and an all around great venue.
Went there with two girls that just did Coke in the bathroom the entire time and it really turned my life around. I don't want to drink or smoke or even stay up late any more. The bar also has guitar hero.
🍻🥂 Drinks and Old School Games! Genius This is my goto Saturday Night hang out spot. The DJ is Lit! He plays your top 40, Trap and Urban Playlist Favs. 😎 You have to get a spot at the bar early because this place get pack after 11:30p. Approximate wait time for a drink... 2 Shots 🤯
Our bartenders definitely was unfriendly and needed a hug. Atmosphere is great and really good music. Theres games to play and cool to day drink in. Nights get packed everyone seems to have fun.
Not sure why this place is considered a "grill" but I do enjoy the new (expanded) location. Bartender was attentive and prices were cheap. Game choices look the same as the other Kung Fu Saloons I've been to. Also, the rooftop was a fun addition to have to this bar. 5/5. Glad they made the move to a nicer spot. Will miss the classic West 6th Kung Fu Saloon but I don't mind the new location at all.
Owner/bartender was incredible. Gave the bride a yummy free shot, and then helped the rest of us create our own shooters and drinks. He was super knowledgeable and chill. Also, let her ring the gong on the wall!
I make this one of my go to locations each time I go to drink at the domain. The environment is always nice even when crowded. A lot of lively people ready to dance. There is also things like giant Jenga and connect 4 outside. Getting a drink can be complicated if the bar is full but this is like any bar in any major city. The people who work here however are really nice and don't seem jaded by the business of their work. I will always make it a thing to visit.
Have a fun time at that place. I didn't drink so I can't really say how the prices were on that.I did go over there with friends and we went there to play some of the arcade games and they were all well taken care of and the games were super cheap. The environment was nice the restrooms were pretty clean. I for sure will go there again.
Guys, kung-fu is a wonderful environment. I loved it, I recommend it there, everything happens, it's all good, wonderful service, the nice people are super attentive to the regulars too. I've never seen a fight I've never seen anything at all everyone has wonderful fun I recommend it, but a lot is top notch.
I have been to multiple Sunday FUNdays at this Kung Fu Saloon! All games are FREE, except the $1 per play, basketball shot game. Outdoor patio, with Giant Jenga is nice. Bartenders can get a bit slower, when the bar gets packed. The DJ plays a nice mix of music. Men's Restroom is clean. Nice Bloody Mary station.
I was only in there for a little bit but I enjoyed it for the most part. Sat on the bar and the bartender was great and I got my drinks served to me and they were good. The place has pinball machines and video games and looks like a lot of fun. I live close to the domain so I will probably be back.
We had a Medium sized corporate event 60-70 people at this location. Their corporate Party planner Bri helped us take care of all of the pre planning. Then the on site management was supportive the entire time throughout the event. Thank you for everything!
Bartenders are always on top of it. Noel is our fave! Hosted an event at the Domain location, and I have no complaints. They were ready for our event with reserved tables. The food came out on time. Overall, great experience. Will be hosting here again.
Great place to chill, play games, enjoy good music and the scenery. Everything is great about the place just need to make certain that they weed out subpar bartenders who can't comprehend the meaning of customer service
Fun bar in the Domain. Great drinks, good prices. Needs a better DJ or DJ needs a new place list. Add more hip hop songs.
Fun atmosphere, I like the games incorporated into the bar scene and I think I showed up on like bring your dog to the bar tonight or something. Although not much of a dog person , it was way cool and it was fun
Really like this bar. Lots of fun with a casual crowd. Bartenders are okay but not too personable which I prefer friendly staff. Overall a good place to go for casual drinks.
Pretty cool place visually, drink prices were decent(husband got a drink), I got soda free because I can't drink so that was nice. We didn't try food. Music was pretty great. If they added a couple of fans to push the air through when it's packed it would be perfect.
Visited with some friends from out of town. The food and drinks we ordered were good. The games were fun but some were a little expensive and half of the ski ball machines didn't work, which was a huge bummer. Music was pretty loud inside and outside so conversation was a little difficult. Overall, tho, great vibe
Alcohol prices were pricy but normal for the area and time. Cool idea to have various arcade machines free of charge for you to keep yourself busy. The music was pretty good too at times they will have a live dj to lighten up the mood. Besides the arcade machines it seems rather empty and theres not much places to sit unless you are outside which can get cold.
Always a good time here. Restrooms are clean, staff is very nice, and not overly pushy. As a team, we came to KING FU for a relaxing time, and our group of 7 was not disappointed. From games on the patio, to some nostalgic games indoors, our group never felt like we were too big a group to move around the place - jenga outside, basketball indoors and good ol skee-ball.
This is a very fun and trendy place to visit whenever you are in Austin. The atmosphere is always energetic. Lots of games to keep you and your friends entertained. The drinks are on the pricier side.. But they are really good and the atmosphere that comes with it makes it worth it.
Cute vibe for us 80’s kids. Went to see the Beetle Juice speakeasy but to find out it’s actually at the one on 6th Street. But we still had a good time. Service was a little slow when we got there. But over all was a cute find.
Endlessly fun and dynamic, Kung Fu Saloon balances good drinks with games and music. Easy to find and even easier to find parking since it’s in The Domain.Upon entering they have activities like a fortune teller, outside area with games, and photo ops. The place is very sleek and modern looking and the interior is clean. There are a lot of games inside and a central bar that keeps the drinks rolling. We ordered a few drinks, all of which were good, nothing crazy but good. The real fun here is in all the surrounding games. From skeeball to basketball to pong, there is something for everyone and when you’re a few drinks in it becomes even more fun. The live DJ was a plus as good music kept rolling throughout our time there and the fun atmosphere was very palpable. They even have a photo booth so you can commemorate the night forever (or don’t, your choice). We’ve been to Kung Fu Saloon multiple times and whether it’s a night where you want to sit down and just talk or get into a few games, it has always been a good time and we recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, casual experience.
This place was ok. The drinks were great the atmosphere was good. There was a dj setting up and the music that was playing was dope. They also have a lot of arcade games. I just found the bartenders were not too friendly. They did make great drinks though. I had several drinks and they were all very good. I also has some seasoned fries that are very good
I am not at all a fan of the 5th street location as it is way to fratty for my taste, however, this location seems to be their more mature counterpart. We came in for a quick drink and game of shuffleboard and ended up staying almost 2hrs, made friends with a lovely Canadian couple, found one of our fav bartenders on Rock Rose and even got to “bong the gong”. It is still the same fun ambiance with nice, stiff drinks at semi-reasonable prices an “up for anything” crowd, but for some reason, here it felt more like controlled chaos rather than just chaotic! Will definitely be back, especially since I found my fav Jameson and pickle juice chaser in ATX here!
Drinks are great, but the atmosphere is lacking. The constant use of the gong doesn't seem to correspond with anything, but creates an agitating environment in which I've found the most aggressive patrons in the Rock Rose district
Pretty good spot, a little pricey but decent atmosphere and not too crowded. The games should be on free play, though. Seriously, they must make up such a tiny fraction of the place's revenue anyway.
Nice environment and atmosphere. I give a 3 star rating since there isn’t many games. Some games you do have to pay.
Worst happy hour in existence. $5.50 beer for happy hour, no thanks. Bartenders seemed annoyed I even asked about happy hour. Food was okay, tho kinda expensive. The 3 stars are for having arcades and damn good fries.
It's fine. Nothing special. I guess it's cool they have video games and some other games, but there are cooler venues with such amenities in the world. Solid staff. You won't go wrong by going here, but this is not the most original Austin experience you seek.
I really enjoy the atmosphere here. Service is friendly, wait time for drinks is average for the location. Downfall?? Two occasions now where my credit card has been overcharged. I recommend paying in cash or make sure you keep your receipts.
This place is way too loud. I've gone 3 times and never stayed for more than one drink. I can't hold a conversation with my friends because of how loud the music is. I would understand if this was live music, but I go to bars to socialize. The music is so loud I often hear it while sitting outside at Jack and Ginger's. Edit: So I went back last week and I was able to enjoy a drink. The reason I'm not giving them 5 starts is because the management has chosen to attack me in other Google reviews and the bartenders take to long getting drinks. If they spent less time talking to each other, and served their customers, I would up it to 4 stars.
If I’d be still in college I’d probably love it. Except of the ‘I’m so cool, this place needs no AC-attitude’ of the bartenders, getting snappy if you don’t open a tab. Casual hangout with lots of games. The music gets pretty loud at some point. Just saying...
My wife and I just couldn't get into this place. It feels like it belongs on 6th Street, but the crowd is mostly late 20s and 30s. Incredibly loud, which made eating a pain in the butt. Service was generally good, but I couldn't recommend the overall experience. I'd check out other bars in the area before coming back.
The drinks are ok, but nothing special. It gets crowded at night on weekends. It's fun to play games with friends but only if you are able to move past the dancing crowd. Skeeball, foozball, and arcade games inside, with Jenga and connect 4 outside. Even when they are empty during the day, they won't let kids play inside since they are a 21+ bar. It's still the best bar in the domain for a group to hang out, but definitely not the best bar in Austin.
I've been here several times and have always had a good time. This last time I was charged for 6 double mixed drinks when we had only gotten single shot drinks. Felt robbed after paying over $160 + tip for 6 mixed drinks. This may have turned me off to ever spending money here again.
Fun night out Music selections vary from 80s to today's hits. It isn't an upscale venue but definitely something to do on a night you want to dance with friends and have some drinks. I prefer people watching while vibing to the music. The domain area is definitely more upbeat than downtown Round Rock.
Interesting place. I liked the pin ball machine. The peep hole was a nice touch. The actual action found in the restroom was surprising too. My cousin caught some people having intercourse in the restroom while there was a lot of people outside waiting to use the restroom. Not sure if I would come back but I think it would be a nice spot for college kids.
Fun place for drinks. A handful of local microbrews, a full bar, nostalgic arcade games and skee ball. They also have a good outdoor patio. Service was good, but food was just so-so. We had the entire place reserved for a private party of about 100 people and the drink service was able to accommodate us, but the food buffet fell flat a couple of times and was empty. The arcade games were all set on free play for our private party, but I asked one of the bartenders if they were always set that way and they told me they were not. They also had “giant Jenga” available at most of the patio tables. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and the place was clean – even the bathrooms. Conveniently located in the North Domain District.
Pros: Friendly staff, strong cocktails, lots of games to play. Cons: DJ plays music so loud that you have to go outside to talk. Many of the video games are broken. Bathrooms were disgusting.
Had an anazing time here with friends and family we went on an off day not to crowded but enjoyed the atmosphere, and the first bar i went where you can actually play games had an amazing time playing ginga and the old mortal combat all while having drinks and dancing. Would definitely go again only thing I did not dig was the bartender cant remember her name but didn't like her attitude not very customer service friendly.
Love the ambience and there's a decent drink selection, but the bartenders (guys anyway) can be kinda slow and unobservant. I get checking your phone but being on it while customers are talking to you and thus ignoring them? Bro, no.
Great atmosphere in terms of look. The smell of those craps the customers smoke and the overtly loud speaker noises are unbearable. The music is just way too loud. Not only that, the EQ setting for the music is atrocious.
We came here for an employee Christmas party. It was pretty terrible. We expected to have a clean, semi-private, warm area to be wined and dined. We were put outside at the outside bar. Unfortunately. there are no outdoor heaters and no one informed us of that on a freezing December night. Food was less than desirable and no one helped make sure that random bar patrons didn't eat our food.
I have been to this particular one a few times. The past two times, I came after brunch with my friends & realized my drinks tasted watered down and that I would have to buy more drinks here than if I went to another bar. The atmosphere is cool and nice music but definitely pre-game before, don’t waste your money on their drinks. They are over priced and got to be watered down.
Every time I have been, it has been a wonderful experience. Never a problem. Tonight however, was ridiculous. I was removed from the property as a result of a false accusation. Now, I understand that these things happen, but to be treated with so much malice was both unprofessional and without proper basis. I was told that "I was cutoff" and that " I was too drunk and needed to leave" by both hired staff and the manager on staff. A gentleman(who was far from gentle) named Francisco who pushed his chest on me in an unsuccessful attempt to aggravate a response and another young man in a light grey sweater. As I was leaving, the bartenders (including "Mike" and two other women who had always served me with no problems) reassured me that it had nothing to do with them, and were sorry. I like coming here. I hate to have to give a negative response to service. But somebody needs to speak up so this doesn't happen to anyone again! Especially from the manager on staff ' Ronald' who opted to get police involved after realizing that I had called him out his lie.
All the games are pay to play and expensive. The basketball shooting game is $8, that is just way over the top. Drinks are not very strong, and prices are a little higher than expected.
Lady Bartender spent 5 minutes, checking a one dollar bill, so i can get four quarters to play some arcades, she approached her hand to give me the four quarters, hesitates, pulls her hand back, she wasted 5 minutes trying to figure out if she wants to give me four quarters or not, I left the location, without taking any quarters, she approached me again and says “thats ridiculous”, i’m not sure if they are aware of how customer service works, when i spend that much money on drinks and get to be treated this way, wasting 5 minutes of some ones for one Dollar!? treating me that bad way wasn’t fun to me.
Bouncer kicked my husband out almost as soon as we came in. We hadn't been drinking before we went and we didn't even finish a whole beer. We went outside with some friends to talk about their engagement and when we went back inside the bouncer held my husband and CALLED THE COPS ON HIM for reasons still unknown to us. It was also his work Christmas party and we were very embarrassed. Now, today, the day after this my husband is experiencing sever anxiety about the whole ordeal. Save yourself the headache and go to a different bar.
I had a horrible experience here, I was visiting from Ohio and a friend suggested we stop here. Being from Ohio and being in Texas, I had on shorts enjoying the weather, once at the door I was told I couldn't get in because of my shorts but others had on shorts so I made the comment "Sir no one seems to be dressed up in there, but I'll go change into some pants". Once back I was able to get in but the bar tender I came across once I was able to order a drink was rude and I changed my mind and told her we will pass on drinks so she comes around from behind the bar and says nope still gotta pay and me and my friends are like shocked this is happening, so she grabs a drink from a girl she thinks is with us and quickly realizes that the young lady isn't with us and gives it back and the young lady is looking confused and angry so she eventually walks away only to go outside and get another man who instructs us to follow him outside and he says that he was told that we were causing a issue inside but once we tell him what happened he says sorry and tells us to enjoy our night. I will never give this place my business again no good customer service or professionalism. I know where to go and not to go when I hangout in Austin, Texas.
NUMEROUS credible stories of coordinated drugging efforts carried out on patrons by the bartending staff. These attacks have been on females AND males alike. Please be safe and vigilant if you decide to go to this establishment.
Was turned away for wearing flip flops on a Saturday night. I've been a regular patron for years. Not really sure what kind of establishment they think they are, but it's a video game/sports bar, and not "upscale" in the least. The fact that they think they can be that choosy because they're located in the Domain is pure comedy that has cost them my return business and that of my friends who accompanied me. We will never return. ***To the response from the owner below: How is it that countless other businesses that use glassware don't have that concern and yours does? Spare us, this is not about safety.
Dress-code? you can look like a hipster or homeless person here. If you are plus size person they will say thing like "your clothes it too baggy" and not let you in. But scared to tell a brother the same and let him in all day. The door guy is only following management's rule. Watch out they pay for the Police Presence in front so the LE is on their side regardless.
Don't be fooled; this place is not for people who enjoy retro arcade games. It's a regular bar with music (mainly bass) so loud you can't hear your own thoughts and no one actually cares about the games. As a normal bar? Whatever. But 1 star as a place who advertises themselves as a retro arcade bar.
Google Maps and their door says they open at 11AM, but we were promptly shooed out and told they do not open until 12. They did not handle what was their mistake very well, better options with better service nearby.
They have selective dress code. I was denied entry because I was wearing a tank top... when I pointed out at least a dozen other people wearing similar or less than me, the manager was completely rude. This place is a JOKE!
Tried to like it like the bar downtown but the manager kept asking us to move. You can't stand anywhere because you will be asked to move. Manager needs to calm down. It's a bar where people go to have fun.
Bouncer discriminated against my friend and I. I've been coming here for years no problem. Put your business elsewhere with better drinks
The establishment is a complete dump with only the staff’s unprofessionalism and unpleasantness being worse than the physical location. The whole placed smelled of puke and everywhere I touched left my hands covered in grime of some sort; the bathrooms looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The bartenders were arrogant and seemed disgusted to take my party’s order and attempted to over charge us for drinks that were not ordered. I also observed their bouncers batter and toss out patrons unnecessarily; this was quite jarring and I felt as if I was witnessing a UFC event. I cannot validate the claims many have had about the staff drugging customers, but I almost wish they did it to me so I’d have no recollection of the awful experience I had at the Kung Fu Saloon.
The place seemed like it was a good atmosphere until the bartender charged my card 3 times then refused to let me leave the bar momentarily to call my bank. I was very insulted and was stranded due to the series of charges made by bartender which locked my card. Until that bartender is replaced or understands how to treat customers and trained to work a credit card machine, I don't think I nor my friends will be coming back anytime soon.
Ambiance - not applicable. Don’t go anywhere near the kitchen or arcade games. It smells like throw up in that area. They really should have a HEALTH INSPECTOR! come out to check this place out Food - I don’t think I would like food especially with all the reviews saying that the STAFF SPIKES DRINKS! never mind trying the food! Service - watch your drinks because you may either get water or you may get something els put in your drink
There is something VERY fishy about this place. Just stay away from here to avoid what my friend and I went through. And I’m not the only one, a lot of accusations have come to surface about this place. Just look it up on FB. Ladies (and men too!!!) all I will say is WATCH YOUR DRINK AS THEY MAKE IT! Like seriously, watch it very closely. You truly would never think a bar would purposefully tamper with your drink but here we are… STAY AWAY!
Highly DONT recommend this place. The guy at the bar didn’t want us recording because they weren’t putting liquor in your drink. I asked to pay extra for my girlfriend to have a bigger cup with one more shot. He poured the drink in a bigger cup and then put more soda in and got EXTREMELY defensive when we caught him and recorded him. The crowd is ok, but there are much better places to go in domain or 6th street. YOUVE BEEN WARNED
[1 year later] after some time has passed since my review I gave the bar a chance and my views do not change. Music is loud, machines are broken and bar service has not improved. I did try their food menu and will say I was pleased with what I ordered. [Posted 1 month ago and gave 1 star] The management does not take into consideration to the residents and other restaurants/shops that are on Rock Rose Street. The management decided to have their own music as loud as possible so you could not hear yourself while at another bar on the same street. With their music playing as loud as possible it makes me not want to attend this bar because I wouldn't be able to hear myself think let alone hold a conversation with someone. [Update, 5/19, gave 2 stars] management finally turned down the music so I gave them an extra star HOWEVER I don't appreciate being told from their staff and employees that I should move when in fact I have been living in the domain WAY BEFORE this establishment was even open let alone even built so they only get 2 stars. I gave them a second chance after the music was turned down and my bar experience was still terrible due to the establishment not being fully staffed with the lack of bartenders even on days when they supposivly make alot of money. I will continue to go to the other establishments on Rock Rose Street and not give my money to this establishment, and you should too.
The guy at the door turned me away on a Saturday night for having basketball shorts on. This place thinks it is so amazing that it can have a 2 page dress code. Yet women were being let in right after who had large amounts of their body hanging out of their clothes. You guys clearly don't like having a "fun environment conducive to a good time". Really? No jerseys or sportswear allowed at a sports/arcade bar? Is this the fun police? Why do you hate customers being comfortable? This is not a high class place. You've lost the business of my friends and family.
Terrible service. Arrogant bartender…
Worst club I’ve been too !! I live in the domain for 2 years and have never encountered something like this at this club. We Went to this club 12/29/22 around 11pm to enjoy myself with my friends for his 34th birthday. My friend isn’t from America and has only been in the US for a couple of weeks. My friend went to the bar to buy shots and didn’t leave the bartender a tip so she refused to serve him again. When I walked up to the bar to ask what’s going on the “manager” of the club told him he had to leave for not tipping. My friends and I said he didn’t know he had to tip and i told them I could just tip her to resolve the issue, but they refused and the “manger” threaten to call the cops on us. This was all unnecessary and very embarrassing. I still want to speak with an owner of this club because that was so unprofessional & I feel as if two of those employees were racist towards me & my friends.
This place steals tips. Added a bigger tip to what I originally put down on my receipt and charged my card. I will be calling at 4pm when they open to discuss the issue and if it’s not resolved I will be disputing with my bank. Check them charges y’all!
A dude attempted to steal my wallet and Gio the manager denied the whole thing cause the dude is “in the industry” what garbage humans
One of the games took $5 to play and took my money but didn’t work. When I asked the bartender for help, she said there was nothing she could do about it and gave me a rude face. I’ll never be back.
Went to Kung Fu Saloon at the Domain on Halloween night and had one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a bar. The bartender in the Native American costume kept ignoring me, then finally told me he wouldn’t serve me unless I tipped him. I had literally just walked in and hadn’t even ordered a drink yet. He insisted I’d already ordered multiple drinks and didn’t tip, which made no sense. When I told him he was mistaken, he started cussing me out. Pretty sure he was drunk. Terrible experience.
I went to this bar a few days Ago and today I got a notification from my bank saying I tipped 178% which is completely wrong. I know what I tipped and it was not 178% of my tab. Check your receipts and take the copies with you. This place is shady!! Previous reviews also say they steal tips!
Came here to do the famous Zoltan machine where it tells your future. Unfortunately, it never gave a ticket two times. I went inside and there was one person working on a Sunday and he came out and he says I can’t fix it and I can’t give you a refund. I’m sorry we don’t have the ability to give refunds. So he didn’t offer me anything in return for losing two dollars. I know it’s only two dollars but it’s messed up that there is no alternative. Maybe give me a beer, or let me play something else. Why just leave me dissatisfied. Horrible service.
I wish I would have read some of these reviews before going to this place. I agree with anyone that had bad experiences especially with the drinks. Something is not right with this place and/or their liquor. I have NEVER experienced the reaction from 1 drink and 1 shot that I did when I ordered from this place. I will not debate with anyone and I PRAY more people read the reviews about this place before going, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WILL BE DRINKING. Better yet, just pre-game before you go and don't risk it, don't trust the drinks!!
The bartender we not good enough to even understand a complaint
