Opinions de Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House Houston
My son found this place and it did not disappoint! The service was stellar-we told our waiter it was our first time and he guided us through and made our experience memorable. The Wagyu (Japanese and American) ribeye and brisket were sooo fresh and tender, the lobster (Boston and Norway) was melt in your mouth delicious. The Salmon sushimi and sweet shrimp were scrumptious. We had the TomYum and House broth, great balance spicy/flavorful. There’s really no need to order the appetizers but we did just because. I don’t think we stayed a full 90-mins, but we were full and happy. Definitely will return-this is the best kept secret on the Southwest.
Shoutout to Duy & Dan for making this experience such a great first time. Starting with the food everything was amazing I got the diamond set which is the top set for AYCE. We ordered all the A5 wagyu as well as the sashimi, bone marrow, and seafood set. I recommend everything from sashimi to the seafood set. Next service, our server was Duy and he did a very good job at explaining the entire menu aswell as frequently checking on us to order more if needed. Dan was also very helpful as he also checked on us to see if we needed to order more. He also recommended a beer I’ve never tried before called koshihikari echigo beer it was very good. Although I’d definitely wait to drink beer till after your done eating. Lastly, the atmosphere was such a great vibe all around. As you come in your greeted by the hostess who was also very nice. When you’re seated you can actually enjoy your meal as it’s not too loud and you don’t have to yell or anything to speak to the person in front of you.
I come to Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House at least once a week and it has honestly become one of my favorite spots in Houston. The quality of the food is consistently amazing, and you can really tell they care about the experience from start to finish. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is the service. We always ask for Duy as our server, and he is absolutely incredible. He remembers my order every time and is always so attentive, friendly, and welcoming. It makes the experience feel much more personal, and you can tell he genuinely cares about making sure guests have a great time. Service like that is rare to find. The wagyu quality is fantastic and the ingredients are always fresh. Everything comes out quickly and the presentation is great. The atmosphere is also really nice — it’s clean, comfortable, and perfect for both a casual dinner or bringing friends who are visiting Houston. Overall, this place never disappoints. Between the amazing food, the great atmosphere, and especially the excellent service from Duy, it’s a place I always look forward to coming back to. Highly recommend asking for him if you visit!
Glad I decided to dine here. Atmosphere is very welcoming and cosy when it’s not busy. Food is up to standard and quality. Went for the silver menu. Australia Wagyu beef is unlimited and they are good. Also came with a plate of Japanese A5 Wagyu. I enjoyed the yuzu yellow tail sashimi and highly recommend it. The bone marrow might be a hit and pass but worth a try. Soup base is rich. Staffs are friendly and service is good. Shoutout to JJ who took care of me throughout my meal.
Tommy was our server at Mikiya Hotpot and he was AMAZING. From the moment we sat down, he was so attentive, patient, and helpful. He took the time to explain the menu, gave great recommendations, and kept checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Our broths were always refilled quickly, plates were cleared right away, and he made the whole experience feel smooth and enjoyable. You can tell he really cares about giving great service.
Duy and Dan were the best!!! The service was amazing and the food was top notch quality. We got the diamond set and it was well worth. Everything, including the beer and jasmine milk tea, was super yummy. We will be definitely coming back!
First off, amazing place, service, and hospitality. Our server Duy was top notch and made my first experience at the restaurant worth it. The place was well maintained and Duy kept us all happy! Awesome time! Thank you!
First time trying Mikiya and it was so gooood. Definitely a top favorite for hot pot with great quality meat. My favorite is the Tom yum broth. Shout out to our server, Tommy, for making the experience so much better.
Wow! What an experience. The meats, seafood, and broth were all incredibly flavorful. We loved the sukiyaki and the spicy miso. Our server was also so personable and kind! We are chubby members so also get a discount which we find is worth it. Can’t wait until the new chubby restaurant opens up here in Houston!
By far the best hot pot place in Houston. Duy was our server. He was very enthusiastic and made my wife and I feel extremely welcome and taken care of. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.
Thuan was the BEST server! We got diamond set for all the sweet shrimp and nigiri we could eat. Had the best suggestions from Thuan, very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions.
Mikiya has such a delicious selection of Wagyu meat. Their tomyum soup base is my favorite. Their yellowtail sashimi is to die for as well. Tommy was our server and did a stellar job. Very attentive and was quick to serve us. 10/10 would recommend!!
I had a wonderful dining experience at Mikiya Restaurant. The environment is clean and comfortable, the ingredients are fresh, and the overall atmosphere is great. It’s a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. I would especially like to compliment our server, Duy. He was very friendly, attentive, and professional. From the moment we ordered until the end of the meal, he made sure we had everything we needed. He patiently answered our questions and provided excellent service, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Will come back soon!
Came here by chance after our original plans fell through and was not disappointed. Some of the freshest and best quality of meats and seafood I have ever had! We went with the diamond option to fully experience everything and I really do think it was worth the money! Our server Tommy was 10/10. He made our time here extremely enjoyable! Will be coming back next time we’re in town!
We had a company there last week and everyone at my company loves this a lot. Beef, seafood, and sashimi were all really fresh. I think it’s really worth the price. The only thing I personally don’t like is we have to share the pot because my husband can’t eat seafood! The ice cream and milk tea were good too!!The service was too-notch. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Highly recommended this place for any occasion!
even if it’s packed, you can still walk in and get a table (the place is huge) the staffs were so nice, they were really patient with us, the meat is good, we love th sukiyaki soup base the price is decent for the quality of food we’re getting, not overpriced at all also i love the vibes there, very cozy and warm
Delicious broth and good quality meats. I didn’t expect the tom yum broth to be that spicy but it was tolerable. No complaints about the food but I will have to note that the bar area is quite cramped. It’s a busy restaurant and I found ppl reach over me and in my space while I was up there getting my veggies. Seemed to only fit two people at a time comfortably.
I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and of excellent quality. What made my visit even more special was the outstanding service. I’ve visited the New York branch before, and I have to say, the service here has my heart! Alexandra took such great care of me, checking in to make sure I had everything I needed and making me feel truly welcome. Her kindness and attentiveness really made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for not only amazing sukiyaki but also warm and thoughtful service. I’ll definitely be coming back : ) PS. Solo-friendly I visited in non-peak time.
What an amazing experience! Daniel was our server and he was absolutely stellar. He checked on us frequently and his colleagues came around to clear off our tables so quickly! They have the freshest meats and savory broths. I would definitely recommend this for the price. The most tender Wagyu meat that .makes my heart melt.
First time here and my family loves it. The quality of the meat and seafood are undeniable and fresh. You pay what you get and it’s worth it. Make sure you wear a jacket since it’s cold in here. Amazing customer service as well I love how they have rice and mince beef sautéed for kids. My kids love eating those since they’re too little for hot pot
This establishment offers a diverse menu, ranging from the basic wagyu set ($38) to the exquisite diamond set ($88). Our friend, who holds an annual membership ($28), opted for the diamond set, which provided an ample and satisfying dining experience. The wagyu sushi was exceptionally delectable, accompanied by prompt and courteous service. The freshness of all ingredients was evident throughout the meal. We highly recommend this establishment for a memorable dining experience.
Mikiya is a Wagyu Shabu-Shabu buffet chain founded by Chubby Group, offering a wide variety of broths and ingredients for an exceptional hot pot experience. They have four buffet tiers — the higher the tier, the more premium the selection. The top tier includes unlimited A5 Wagyu, stunning sashimi appetizers, and some of the sweetest, crunchiest sweet shrimp and Norwegian lobster I’ve ever had. The only limited item is the lobster tail; everything else is all-you-can-eat. Their broths are rich and flavorful — the spicy mala broth is authentically fiery, while the kombu broth is mild and perfect for kids. The service is another highlight. Every staff member is full of energy and warmth, which is a signature of this restaurant and something customers rave about. Ingredients are fresh and of premium quality — only the freshest, highest-grade seafood can be served as sashimi here. Although it’s a hot pot buffet, their other dishes are surprisingly diverse and impressive — each one beautifully presented, making it a true visual feast. This is a fantastic spot for dates, gatherings, and hosting friends from out of town — it’s sure to leave a wonderful impression and lasting memories. Special thanks to our server Iris today. She was attentive, served us in fluent Chinese, introduced the dishes professionally, and was warm and enthusiastic. She answered all our questions and fulfilled our requests promptly, making us feel truly respected. We’re very grateful to her!
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed, and the afternoon only got better from there. The quality of the wagyu was outstanding—melt-in-your-mouth tender, rich, and perfectly marbled. Every ingredient was fresh, the broths were flavorful, and the entire experience felt thoughtfully curated. A special shoutout to Daniel Mai, our server, who made the night truly exceptional. He was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly without being overbearing. He went out of his way to make my birthday feel special, and I genuinely appreciated the care he put into making it a memorable evening. His service elevated the whole experience. If you're looking for top-tier shabu shabu with impeccable service, Mikiya is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back—and asking for Daniel!
This place honestly delivered one of the best hotpot meals I’ve had in a while. I went with the Silver set ($55), and the amount and quality of food really stood out, fresh seafood, high quality meat, and unlimited Australian beef if you’re hungry enough (plus one plate of your choice of A5). The veggies were fresh, the side dishes were solid, and the sashimi was clean and well plated. What made the whole experience even better was our server, Audrey. She was super efficient, explained the menu clearly, and kept everything running smoothly without being over the top. Overall, a great spot to bring friends or family if you want something that feels a little more special.
This was my first time dining at Mikiya with my husband, and Audrey took great care of us from the start. She explained the menu clearly and made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. We chose the diamond set, which gave us unlimited servings of different meat tiers, from american and australian wagyu to the premium M9 and A5 grades. The wagyu nigiri appetizers were a delicious way to begin, and the menu had so much variety. Overall, the food and service were amazing and we will definitely come back!
This is by far the best premium shabu hotpot experience I have had. We went with the silver combo 55$ and we were shocked at how much food that comes with it. My other friends went with the diamond combo 95$ so I am not sure how they would eat all the good stuff. The seafood were fresh , the meat is tender and flavorful. No limits on refill on Australian beef as long as you can eat. Veggies are fresh . Side dishes and fries dishes were well done. Sashimi is fresh and beautifully plated. The a5 brisket is beautifully marbled. I would say forget Hai Di Lao and go here instead. Great place to take friends and family for a treat that they will impress. Highly recommended.
We had the Diamond Selection at Mikiya, and it was exceptional. The wagyu was buttery and rich, the king crab legs were fresh and sweet, and the presentation was flawless. The dual broths were packed with flavor, and the service was attentive and knowledgeable. A truly premium hot pot experience—worth every penny!
We’re visiting from VA & saw this place during our restaurant research, knew it was something we didn’t have here so it was a must to eat here! The atmosphere and vibes were great. Danton was our server, he took such good care of us from start to finish. He was super helpful, even spoke Vietnamese to my parents which left a memorable experience for them! The food was AMAZING! Our family of 6 went with the Diamond set & all agree it was completely worth it, especially with the sukiyaki broth… soo GOOD! We wish Mikiya was closer, definitely would become frequent customers!
Visited Sept. 2024 I came here for the Gold Set (just below the Diamond option), and overall it was a great experience with a few minor issues. The staff were kind and attentive, though my broth order got mixed up a couple of times. The set only allows one specialty dish per person. Out of everything I tried, the Wagyu Bone Marrow was the standout—so flavorful, I wish it were unlimited. The seafood platter is included, but it felt like filler, so I skipped it the second time around. I also tried American, Australian, and Japanese Wagyu—the Japanese Wagyu was easily the best, and that’s what I stuck with. For broths, I had spicy miso and house. Both were tasty, but the spicy miso really brought out the flavor of the beef. The sauce and side bar was a nice touch, and the Wagyu curry was surprisingly good, though I kept it to a small portion to save room. The space is a bit tight, especially if you bring a stroller, but I loved the modern Japanese-style décor—it created a cozy atmosphere. Overall, it’s a solid spot for trying different Wagyu cuts and enjoying a nice dining experience.
The first few times, we chose the Silver option. Everything was great — the meat and seafood were fresh and tasty. We actually prefer this place over Haidilao. On our most recent visit, we went with the Diamond option, and the unlimited special dishes and sushi were excellent and well worth the price. However, the soup was a bit too salty this time, which took away the flavor of the meat and seafood. Service from Server Christian was also disappointing. It’s important for servers to check on guests regularly — we found ourselves having to look around for assistance most of the time. The best service we’ve had so far was from Daniel. We’ll probably request him specifically whenever we return
After trying the Las Vegas location, the house broth and sukiyaki broths at this Houston location were too sweet. We left unsatisfied. There is a self-serve bar here for the side items, which explains the cheaper price here compared to Vegas. The A5 meats were good as usual. Scallop sashimi, bone marrow, and wagyu nigiri were good. Our server came by to check on us often, and the orders came out very quickly. We came during Sunday lunch and it was packed. Recommend reservations.
I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at this restaurant on Friday, August 15th. I drove one hour specifically for their highest-priced dinner. Unfortunately, the food was deeply disappointing and unsafe. The bone marrow tasted rancid, and some of the raw fish and shrimp were extremely fishy, with a mushy texture instead of the firm freshness that good seafood should have. I felt skeptical, so I only sampled some items, cooked others further myself, and skipped part of the meal. Even with that caution, I became very sick shortly afterward. On the drive home I had severe nausea and stomach pain to the point that I could not drive continuously—I had to stop multiple times. When I finally made it home, I suffered repeated vomiting and diarrhea throughout the night. I was frightened, as I had never experienced anything like this, and even saved samples in case testing became necessary. Because of this illness, I had to cancel three hours of teaching that night and the following morning, losing significant income. I reported the issue to the restaurant as soon as they opened the next day. The manager told me they would investigate and offered a full refund, which I appreciate. However, when I followed up—explaining that I had continued to feel weak through the weekend, had to rest in bed, and lost even more teaching hours—the restaurant stopped responding. I called again on Monday, but the manager’s tone made it clear they no longer cared to deal with me beyond the refund (which I still have not received). They told me I could pursue their insurance, but that would be a lengthy and draining process. I wish the restaurant had shown more concern for a customer’s painful and frightening experience, especially considering the income lost and the risk to health. I am writing this so others are aware and so that hopefully no one else has to go through what I did. I feel obligated to report this case to the health department. Just want to honestly add the waiter waitress were good and the food looked very nice when they were served.
