Opinions de The Fish Houston
I came in the middle of the day 2PM, Angel was my server. He made suggestions and everything he suggested was DELICIOUS! I did get the lime margarita at his suggestion and it was delightful. I had 5 street tacos ( Beef tacos were my favorite) and a strong margarita. I was happy and satisfied. Come sit at the bar and dance while you eat. Good vibes, delicious food.
La Calle is a go to downtown Houston spot for authentic street 🌮 with fresh tortillas, flavorful fillings, fast service, and standout pastor and barbacoa. Plenty of parking nearby.
Our first time here and it was so good! I will definitely be back and Edgar was so great to take care of us!
Edgar is an amazing bartender. So kind and explained how service worked. Food was delicious and we received our food quickly. Highly recommend as a quick stop for food! Happy hour on Thursdays for ladies 🥳
We only came for drinks.... but Angel was the most amazing bartender in Houston! You can tell he cares about his customers! Can't wait to come back for bingo!!!!
Brought a friend to the midtown location who is visiting from Kansas and has never had Birria tacos and Edgar and the staff did not disappoint. From little tasters of margaritas to recommendations on all the street tacos, we feasted and filled our bellies with deliciousness. We opted for the Pineapple mojitos which are oh, so good. If you are in midtown and craving some yumminess, stop by and see Edgar. I know I will definitely be back and my Kansas friend is blown away with the hospitality and yummy, yummy, good, good this incredible city has to offer. Extra points for being dog friendly for my partner in crime. (She also loves the Birria tacos)
I went to La Calle last night for the first time. They were having musical bingo. I had a lot of fun. I ate the street corn which was fabulous!! The atmosphere was great and the bingo was fun! Can’t wait to go back!
This was our first time at La Calle, and it definitely won’t be our last! The food was delicious and full of flavor—fresh, authentic, and made with care. But what really stood out was the service. Edgar was our server, and he was incredibly sweet and attentive with my mom and me. He took the time to explain the menu and made us feel so welcome. It’s always a great feeling when the service matches the quality of the food. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a relaxed vibe and amazing Mexican street food!
They may be small, however they pack a lot of flavor in each one. They honor the Taco Gods by having a Taco Tuesday special. Rogelio was packed with customers when we got there and still provided us with wonderful service. Will be back to try more for sure
OMGeeeeeee! This spot is soooo delicious! The birria or asada are complete hits. The service is efficient and friendly. I love the outside environment. You can watch a classic movie while dining or just chill at the bar. The drinks are also made with love. This was such a great kick back experience is in the heart of downtown. Loved it!
The Fish in Midtown Houston is next-level amazing. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is on point—great atmosphere, great energy, and even better food and drinks. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the bar service. Shoutout to Alfredo, the absolute GOAT bartender 🙌🏽. He was friendly, attentive, and clearly knows his craft. You can tell he takes pride in what he does, and it shows in every drink he makes. And let me tell you… the lemon drops were PHENOMENAL 🍋✨—perfectly balanced, smooth, and dangerously good. Easily some of the best lemon drops I’ve had in Houston. If you’re looking for amazing drinks, top-tier service, and a place that delivers every time, The Fish is it. Alfredo alone is worth the visit, but combined with the food and atmosphere, this spot is a must. I’ll definitely be back—again and again. 👏🏽🍸
Wow!! I came here for a New Year’s eve dinner and had such high quality sushi for a lovely price. We had the lickety split and black widow & eel nigiri. Everything we had was amazing from the drink to the appetizers to the star of the show, the sushi! The fish was incredibly high quality and so tender and buttery like. I can’t believe I’ve never come here before. Very dreamy decor and such a great date night spot! The service was also really good and so attentive. Absolutely no misses last night, check out this spot for some high quality fish that won’t break the bank and will leave you satisfied. I’ll be back!
Park access was super easy — you can walk right in and are greeted so pleasantly. I was seated immediately, and my server, who I later found out was the manager, Alfredo, was amazing! Very professional, friendly, and detailed when addressing any questions or concerns I had. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff were attentive throughout my visit. My food came out quickly — everything was fresh, hot, and perfectly prepared. The vibe and the music added the perfect touch to the experience. I was also pleasantly surprised by all the weekly specials and their reverse happy hour — the menu had some really great items on it! They’ll definitely be seeing me more often.
From the moment I walked in, the vibe was unmatched. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern and cozy—dim lighting, sleek décor, and music that sets the tone without being overpowering. It feels like the kind of place where you could come for a casual night out with friends or a special celebration and it would hit every time. The service was just as impressive. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, friendly, and clearly knew the menu inside and out. They offered spot-on recommendations that took the whole experience to another level. And the food? Absolutely unforgettable. Every dish was packed with layers of flavor that made you stop mid-conversation just to appreciate what was happening on your plate. From the appetizers to the main course, everything was executed with creativity and precision. You could tell that the kitchen really takes pride in crafting dishes that aren’t just good—they’re memorable. This spot checks every box: dope ambiance, top-notch service, and flavors that will have you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished dessert. A must-try. Sn: Cassandra is the best hostess, super Friendly and great taste in music. Alfredo, the bartender makes the best most delicious drinks. I will definitely be back!
Service at the restaurant was excellent which is why I am giving this 5 stars. Inevitably, I have found TX sushi to be a miss overall but the ambiance and service really made up for it. Most of the rolls are cooked which is not my preference but it may be for a lot of people since this is uncommon. Overall not an authentic sushi spot but fused with Texas taste.
Certainly one of my favorite restaurants for sushi in the Houston area. The atmosphere is both elegant and upbeat which makes for a fun dining experience. My go-to appetizers are the crab puffs and spicy edamame. The specialty spicy mama roll is absolutely delicious. Service has been excellent each time I’ve visited.
Found this little gem from a tiktok couple and decided to check it out. So glad I did! My girlfriend and I celebrated our birthday here together and the food was amazing! We tried the Shoi 2.0, lobster roll, shrimp tempura, crab puffs, Beef Ribeye rolls, sashimi sea urchin and had the kickin' peach drink which we made into a mocktail. Everything was delicious 😋 we even got to try the Mochi for free since we were celebrating our birthday. The ambiance is very nice and gives off romantic and upper state vibes. Lester our waiter was also phenomenal and we give this place a 10/10! Parking is a bit tedious, but worth the hassle, enjoy!
Went here tonight for date night with my husband. Sam was our waiter. The food and drinks were very good. Sam made the night so much better. He is an extremely attentive, polite, and personable waiter. I’ve already booked another reservation requesting him specifically. If you haven’t been here, they are one of the OG sushi spots for HTX. Consistently good. New interior remodel is beautiful. The service and food makes it all worth while. Highly recommended.
Great experience here! From the service from the time we walked in until the moment we left, superb! I hate that I cannot recall the gentlemen name. But he was very accommodating, patient and offered great suggestions! The atmosphere is great for a girls day, date night, family day, it's just very cozy and cute! Happy hour wings were bomb! Crunchy outside and moist inside Truffle fries - very tasty Octopus ball things - the texture wasn't my thing. Very kind of mushy on purpose. This is the only one that didnt work for us Dynamite shrimp - a bit spicy but great! Kobe hot pot - I heard great things from the table Kids shrimp and tenders and they were good Curry shrimp - really good We will definitely visit again!
Service was great. Shout out to JC. The midtown roll was absolutely delicious. I can't remember all of the ingredients, but I do recall that it flavorful and had a great texture. We also tried a few other dishes, all of which were excellent. Everything was fresh and expertly prepared, and we left feeling full and satisfied. Our food arrived quickly and we never felt rushed or neglected. Another thing that stood out was the speed of the service.
Randomly found this place after looking for street tacos while in the area. Cool spot to have a quick bite to eat. I ordered the Chorizo and Chicken Torta. It was decent I would give it a 4 outta 5 just because I’ve had better tortas. My brother order the street tacos with the birria consume. He said the tacos were good, but that the consume made them even better. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
The food was really good, just a bit on the spicy side. The kind of spice that you can handle since it makes you crave more. The frozen margarita was great, not too strong with the mix. I would totally come back; I'm planning to go next Thursday since they have bingo.
La Calle Tacos (Midtown) is perfect if you’re looking for tasty, quick Mexican food. Tacos and tortas are great, well-served, but be careful with birria it’s spicy. The vibe is great: outdoor seating, good music, and a chill atmosphere. A solid spot to hit up with friends or grab a quick, satisfying bite solo.
Apparently this place has been around for over 20 years and I somehow never noticed it. The food was fine—nothing amazing, but not bad either—and the drink selection was decent. The service was good, though, and the atmosphere at night is really nice. It’s a great spot to catch up with friends or have a relaxed, maybe even romantic, evening. I’d come back, but probably more for drinks and a few appetizers than a full meal.
The sushi was better than expected. I loved the mango salmon roll, Blazing Tuna (was a tiny bit spicy), and miso soup. Overall, great experience, delicious food, nice vibes, and excellent service. They can accommodate allergies too. For dessert, we had mochi (vanilla, strawberry, and matcha), and the matcha was my favorite.
The evening started off great—excellent food recommendations and a wonderful atmosphere. However, the experience took a turn when it came time to pay. A 20% automatic gratuity is added, and the staff did not have proper change. My server returned with less change than owed and did not mention the shortage. When I questioned it, I was simply told they “didn’t have any change,” which was both unprofessional and frustrating. Had the server acknowledged the shortage upfront, it would not have been an issue. Instead, I had to identify the discrepancy myself. It’s unreasonable for a restaurant to be unprepared to provide correct change throughout the night, and it left an otherwise positive experience on a disappointing note.
The waiter was the worst. It's been a very long time since I have had such bad service. The food and atmosphere were excellent. I'm not into outside dining, but they offer it. The parking is metered street parking. I parked about 3 blocks away. Had the waiter been attentive at all rather than talking to coworkers and on his phone, the experience would have been a home run.
Got a 50% off coupon for a drink so decided to try it again after 3-years. The food is loaded with flavor killing salt and simply uneatable. Sucks because the margs are really good.
I decided to try this location since I’ve been to the Franklin one before and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to my expectations. It took 19 minutes for my food to come out, and when it finally did, it just wasn’t good. I appreciated the free samples and decided to try the beans, but those weren’t great either. The place itself looks inviting—a good spot to hang out, and I noticed they offer bingo and movie nights, which is a nice touch. Still, based on the food and the overall experience, I doubt I’ll be coming back to this location.
What a great location with city vibes and enjoyment of the nightlife on one of Houston's busiest corners. Food is great when needing to sober up after night out on the town. The only exception is that the staff is made up of young professionals that lack bartending experience and relationship management. I witnessed one of the bartenders by the name of Angel that appears to not be consistent when managing customers during the day when I went there right before leaving town for the airport last month. Seems to be a lack understanding of how important client retention is. Then I had another opportunity to be serviced by Toni and Edgar, and they were really nice. Drinks are not the best for the price but the food is good. I have been going there for about a year and there is a guy in the kitchen that goes by the name of Maurice that is cool and another guy in the kitchen that I saw by the name of Alex that doesn't like to smile. All in all its a hit or miss when interacting with staff. If you want to ensure a better experience they have a kiosk on the side that you can order through and get your food at the side window.
Thiswas SO bad that I didn't even complain. I literally threw it in the trash and bought a second lunch. The two bites of the taco I ate were absolutely REPULSIVE with some gristly fat chewy substance that didn't belong. The tortillas have this remarkably bad after taste. This aftertaste stays with you for hours. Even the smell was breathtaking. I gagged on the gristle. I am 51 years old and I grew up in a city full of Mexican people and I'm quite familiar with Mexican food. Tbis was objectively the worst thing that I have ever put in my mouth. I'm not trying to be mean. If I can spare one innocent human being from eating I will have completed a good deed for the day. It's really that freaking bad. I vomited on the street outside.
All of you people that are giving good review are mad. This food is horrible. I got quesa brilla And they gave me some taco looking rubbish and it’s not good rubbish, absolute rubbish
2 weeks ago I came and got my toppings on the side but today I was told it wasn’t allowed. 😂 I said please give me a refund. $32.46 for 6 tacos and they have the audacity to say I have to get my toppings on it or not at all Is crazy. It’s too many places in midtown with great tacos to play games.
Would not recommend this place the “manager” who would not give a name, questionable.. would not accommodate less sauce on my food because they were “busy” okay so can I get no sauce? Still was told no… what kind of business rather lose business than accommodate the amount of sauce put on MY food that I will be eating! Just go across the street..
We where at table 11, our server, communicated poorly throughout the meal. We had a table of four and clearly told him we wanted two separate checks, which he acknowledged, but there was still confusion when it came time to pay. When our hand rolls arrived, he placed two different rolls one plate California roll and one snow crab roll on the same plate and simply said “California roll,” without explaining which was which. The two rolls were meant for two different people, but because they were served together with no clarification, one of us accidentally ate both. When we mentioned it, he didn’t apologize. Instead, he brought out another California roll but charged us for it. The food itself was just okay not worth the hassle or the price. You’d be better off going to an all-you-can-eat place with better service and value.
