Opinions de The Pit Room Houston
Came here for dine-in and it was very busy — definitely a popular spot. There was a steady crowd the whole time, so be prepared for a bit of noise and a lively atmosphere. It feels like one of those places that’s always in demand. I probably over-ordered because everything looked good on the menu. The portions are generous, and the barbecue was flavorful and well-smoked. The brisket had a nice bark and smoky aroma, and the ribs were tender with good seasoning. Even though I ordered too much, the quality was solid. In the end, we had to pack up quite a bit to take home — which honestly isn’t a bad thing because the leftovers were still great. Overall, very tasty BBQ, just come hungry and maybe plan your order carefully!
It was so good that it soothed my soul and made me blissfully happy. I had to try all so I got 4 meats and then got crawfish from the bar next door. The line was around the corner of the building when I was eating (luckily when I arrived not that long) but I still waited about 30min to order.) WAS WORTH THE WAIT! And the atmosphere in the bar next door was friendly lively and joyful. As a tourist here, it was all that I needed.
This is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Expect to wait during busy times of the day. We went just around lunchtime and there was a line that wrapped around the building to get in! Worth the wait and I will definitely be back when I am in the Houston area. Brisket, sausage, pork rib, potato salad, elote... everything was amazing!
The food was cooked perfectly! The brisket and wagu ribs were juicy the venison sausage is a must the potato salad was a surprise of flavor explosion. The Mac and cheese was ok... a little plain. They have a pickled side bar that was great. You get your food fast just be ready to order.
Amazing! Simply amazing! The food was excellent, smoked and tender. We had the turkey, chicken, and brisket platter. The staff was very helpful. Even the green beans was seasoned and smoked. Have mercy lord! Go experience this for yourself, and stay away from Pappas, they not the same!
Delicious food! Brisket, ribs, and jalapeño sausage were amazing! Turkey was dry and salty. Fav side: corn. People serving food were very friendly. The cashiers were a bit impatient. The staff in the bar area were super friendly. The place needs a bit of cleaning, especially the restrooms.
9.0 💥 while in town I had to check out a BBQ spot and I decided on the Pit Room. Stopped by around 6pm and the place was packed with a line but it went fast. I ordered a little bit of everything that they had, was disappointed the beef ribs were out. The food was bbq to perfection and the mustard sauce was next level. My favorite was the sausages and brisket. If you are in the area be sure to check this place out.
Two Meat Plate. Brisket and Pulled Pork. Mac n Cheese and Green Beans for sides. Excellent meat in both choices. The Green Beans were so good, seasoned and presented differently. Mac n Cheese was decadent. Unlike at Pappas, my food was hot through obtaining, paying, getting soda and carrots...this place is worth stopping at. Plenty of seating inside and out.
We literally had this as a must try list of places in Houston when visiting from NZ, and it didn’t disappoint. Breakfast tacos 10/10. So glad we visited. Friendly staff, quick service. Delicious food. So glad we had it on the list of must dos.. Love the authentic bbq Texan vibe. Not pretentious at all. Well done team.
it is the first time for me here, waiting time around 15 minutes or less. I got the 3 meats with 2 sides.. brisket, ribs and jalapeno sausage. All are yummy and tasty. Brisket is tender and full of taste. Rib was good and sausage is outstanding. Sides were mac n cheese and smoked beans, mac was little bit tasteless, beans was perfect. Staff were great welcoming and super friendly. Outdoor dining place is amazing .. All with tax and tips cost around 35 bucks. Recommend 👌🏾
Great solid barbecue! I brought my family that came in town and didn’t expect a line. But you the place is good if there’s a line out the door and to the side walk! We got the family platter 2 and that was enough to feed 7 kids and 3 adults, with plenty of left for days! Highly recommend!
Amazing authentic Texas BBQ for lunch and dinner and a really nice tex-mex breakfast as well. Meat cooked to perfection, great flavors and portions, nice sides and very good value for money. Very strongly recommend. Our favorites were the Brisket and ribs for dinner and the brisket tacos for breakfast. The meat just fell off the bone and were so juicy. I liked it more than Katz in New York. The cookies and blue bell ice cream were decent. The free pickled vegetables bar is quite nice and they also have an assortment of different beers. Ample classical seating and parking.
This is my second favourite BBQ in the area. We were in the area and my favourite restaurant is closed. This is the second time we are back to try the beef ribs. Again it is sold out at dinner time so a bit disappointed. There was a really long queue out the door and we probably waited 30 mins to place our order. So far we have tried pork ribs, beef sausage and brisket. My favourite is the fatty brisket. The ribs are a bit dry for me. Sides we tried macaroni cheese, coleslaw, charro beans, mustard potato salad and green beans. My favourite is the green beans. Overall the food is good and service is efficient. Staff is friendly. For the dinner price you get plenty of meat, two sides and a slice of bread which is a lot of food. You can also bring the food to the neighboring bar and get a drink. A good experience.
Gotta love bbq in Texas, especially in Midtown/Montrose Houston. The service was friendly and welcoming. The beer was cold, served in iced pint glasses. Our bartender was super helpful and gave us a few samples before we found our perfect draft/draught beer for our meal, a local favorite, Blue Tile IPA. From a non-Texan perspective, we thought the bbq was amazing. We tried the brisket, venison sausage and chicken. The sides were great, we went with Mac & cheese and coleslaw. The pickle buffet was to die for. The in-house bbq sauce was delicious. Pro-tip: Don’t miss out on the salsa in the pickle bar! The ambiance was chill, laid back and welcoming. The weather was great so we sat outside, can’t beat November Houston weather.
Let me start by telling you.. don’t judge a book by its cover and me either for that matter cause I went for breakfast and stayed for lunch on a Sunday. Breakfast was really good! Tried the brisket egg and cheese with potato, chorizo egg and cheese with potato, and jalapeño sausage egg and cheese..all 3 tacos were good. Tortillas were soft & fresh. If I had to rate them in order: 1. Chorizo 2. Brisket 3.Sausage. Lunch (pictured) was even better. We ordered the 3 tacos: 2 chicken verde & 1 brisket, a 3 meat plate with brisket, turkey and pork rib & the Wagyu beef rib. Now in all honesty the sides could be better, but to be clear the flavor is there. Just that the mac is a little loose & all the green beans were sautéed soft. But I literally couldn’t complain about ANYTHING! As a native Houstonian, they are definitely in my top 3 in Texas. ** Next Day Update: (Again..don’t judge me) Tried the bacon egg and cheese with potato and beans. It is definitely fighting for the number one spot. And I also failed to mention the chorizo is great with the beans as well.
The Pit Room serves up some of the best BBQ in Texas, hands down! We tried the beef rib, pork ribs, chicken tacos, brisket tacos, mac n cheese, and a salad, and every single bite was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The beef rib was tender and smoky, the brisket tacos melted in our mouths, and the mac n cheese was creamy and comforting. Even the salad was fresh and well-balanced, a perfect contrast to the rich BBQ. If you're a BBQ lover, The Pit Room is a must-visit. You won't leave disappointed!
The Pit Room is still one of my go-to spots whenever friends come to town and I want to show them what real Texas barbecue tastes like. I stopped by recently with an out-of-town friend later in the evening, hoping it would still hit the mark, and it absolutely did. We ordered brisket, ribs, and sausage, and everything came out hot, tender, and packed with flavor. The brisket was the highlight. After one bite, my friend mentioned they had never really liked brisket before, which pretty much summed up how good it was. The smoke level was perfect, the seasoning was balanced, and the texture was exactly what you want from great barbecue. Even the sides were just as solid. The whole experience was easy and relaxed. The staff was welcoming, the service moved quickly, and the outdoor seating made it a great place to sit back and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed.
Meat not best ever but massive cool outdoor eating area, excellent pickled condiments bar, good sides (green beans, vinegar jalapeño chips and mustard potato salad). The meat was not hot enough and was a bit dried out. I want to like this place more, but with BBQ, the meat must shine. In this case, everything else stood out, but the main attraction. Cherry pie was too cold and not fresh tasting.
First, the brisket and the corn are amazing. I highly recommend them! The chicken was a little dry and the Mac & cheese was watery. The service was ok, I'd never been there before so I wasn't sure about how to order and they seemed impatient. The woman helping clean up the tables was really nice though. The tables are first come, first served so keep that in mind if you have a big group.
Popped into The Pit Room while in the Lone Star State. The atmosphere was very casual with a laid-back vibe, and the service was friendly. We tried a few of their breakfast tacos — simple, well-executed, and satisfying. Overall, a great local spot, perfect for a change of pace and worth a return visit. Saluti
This is a decent bbq spot to try especially if you want to be outdoors and watch sports. This has an attached bar to sit and eat and relax during the more favorable weather says. The wait to order wasn't too long and the staff was very nice. The atmosphere is like a sports bar. I ordered the brisket which was decent but a tad bit dry. The bark was good but the meat itself wasn't so moist. The pork ribs were a disappointment. It was not tender not fall off the bone texture. The carmelization was good but the meat was kinda subpar. The charro beans were good and elote was ok. The venison garlic and pepper sausage was excellent with good smoky flavoring! Overall I like this place but I find places like Pinkerton to be more consistent.
We had relatives visiting from Louisiana who were craving some good BBQ, so we tried to find something close to where they were staying and ended up stumbling across this place. Honestly, what a great find! At first we thought the little ordering area was the only seating. Nope. Take a short walk past the wood pile and the smoker, and suddenly there’s a whole bar area and tons of outdoor seating. Super cool setup. The food was solid. We ordered the beef ribs, brisket, venison sausage, and regular beef sausage. For sides we got the elote (which was freaking delicious), green beans, and potato salad. I do wish the ribs had a bit more seasoning, but the BBQ sauce made up for it. It was really tasty without being overly sweet. Overall, all the meats were tender and nicely smoked. Great spot, especially if you’re looking for BBQ and some relaxed outdoor vibes.
If you're in the area and feel like BBQ, then this place could satisfy the need, but expect it to be an average BBQ experience. We ordered the three meat meal with charro beans and mac & cheese sides. The brisket was tender and moist, however the ribs were generic, and the Czech style sausage was looked impressive (see photo) but it too grainy in texture (not ideal). We were surprised by the market salad, unexpectedly enjoyable for a BBQ joint. There are many other BBQ places around town to try.
