Some of the best BBQ I've had! I put their sliced brisket right up there with Terry Black's in Austin and Smoque in Chicago. This was my first time here, and I will definitely be back every time I'm in town at my company’s facility in Vernon. It's pricey, but well worth it! The family is super nice, too! Glad I found out about them from a YouTube episode on Munchies!
That brisket sandwich so good, I drove from the valley to get me one. I tried the Mac and cheese for the first time, not my favorite, because I’m a southern raised girl. We just do macaroni and cheese different. But definitely will come back for that brisket sandwich! So tender and sooo flavorful
Today was my 2nd time at Ray's and it was just as delicious as the first time I visited a last year. Both times I got the brisket sandwich and small Mac and cheese. The brisket is perfectly seasoned and tender and the Mac and cheese is creamy without being runny. The quality is definitely worth the price and I already can't wait to go back!
Ray's Texas BBQ serves delicious, authentic Texas-style barbecue with perfectly smoked meats and bold, savory flavors. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, and the service is friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is casual and fun, making it a great spot for a hearty meal. Highly recommended for anyone craving real BBQ!
Came here today for lunch and it was my 1st time and it was so good. I had brisket and a side of beans and drink for $40 the flavor was great and the beans were perfect. I had the strawberry kiwi lemonade and that was super good too. The bbq sauce was the cherry on top. Overall great experience. The young man that was working there alone was nice and attentive. Very home style feeling. I will absolutely be back with my foodie dad and tell others about this place.
Would rate higher if I could. We had the pitmaster sandwiches with pepper jack and jalapeno, and the brisket was melt in your mouth, cheese and slaw perfectly balanced the jalepeno, and the bread was good quality. The best sandwich I've had in a while, so good in fact I came here to leave a review. We went right after lunch rush and were served near instantly.
Found in a strip mall in Huntington Park, CA is a gem in the SoCal bbq scene. It’s been about 6 years since my last visit and has been where i tell ppl they need to stop at as soon as they land in LAX. I don’t have a perfect memory but I will say that I think it was better than what I remember. The reins have been passed on since that time sadly but it’s still serving some amazing smoked meats. For the record, I am team crunchy bark. I enjoy all brisket but that nice textural contrast just takes me to new heights. The beautiful bark on the brisket and smokey flavor. Each part of the bark. Each grain of pepper. Down to the size and placement tasted intentional. Nice and juicy flat. Everything just melts in your mouth. I could eat this brisket all day. It actually disappeared first. The ribs were wonderfully meaty and juicy. My favorite thing was the jalapeño cheddar sausage though. The juices burst into my mouth. And the little bits of cheese balanced out with the little bit spicy meat. It’s a cold rainy day today and just a bite of this sausage warmed me up from the inside to the just right amount. Not too hot. Not too not hot (lol) just that perfect balance. The weather this visit may not have been perfect but this meal definitely was. And still strongly my first stop recommendation after landing in LAX. I hate that airport but this spot makes it all worth it lol. Btw. I ate everything except two bones of the ribs. (The small ones) I’m stuffed.
Everything about this restaurant was fantastic. The food tasted fresh and authentic, and the presentation was beautiful. Our server was polite and friendly, always making sure our drinks were filled and that we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself is comfortable and well decorated, with a warm atmosphere that makes dining here even more enjoyable. Each dish came out hot and perfectly cooked, and nothing felt rushed. I left feeling completely satisfied and eager to return.
In my culinary experience with a discriminating palette, Ray's Texas BBQ (featuring their premium Wagyu Brisket) clearly stands above BBQ eateries throughout Southern California. The flavor and texture alone defies description. For a glimpse, see photos. Sadly, I nearly devoured my order not 1st taking pics myself. It's just that damn delectable. I eagerly await the day they bottle/market their lemonade - truly Nectar of the Gods... The entire staff, are always most accommodating and the facility, consistently immaculate. Ray's legacy and legendary cuisine flourishes on, for the world to behold and enjoy. Very special thanks to Raul & family. Luv you guys.
Nice small family owned BBQ spot tucked away on a strip mall. Open for just a short amount of time but definitely worth it. Meats are sold by pound or half pound. Sides are pretty good. There are a few lunch benches inside and small parchment paper is given per guest for dine in. Very friendly family that will gladly answer any questions or help out anyway they can plenty of free parking outside including some handicap parking
It's our first time here, we had originally seen it on YouTube. We decided to go here since we were in the area. From the outside, it doesn't look that much. I slowly realized everyone that had parked around me was headed to the same place..Ray's Texas BBQ. We just patiently stood in line and looked around. They had racks of wood on shelves on the left side. You can smell the bbq aroma. A lot of people had placed online orders, and some seemed like regulars. It was overall a good vibe. Just ignore the male Nancy's in line quick to criticize because they're from Texas. There was decor everywhere, that I couldn't help but look around. It definitely kept me occupied while in line. When it was my turn, almost everything was sold out. I didn't have my hopes up too high because it was a holiday. I did see a paper by the cashier that listed what items were sold out. I was just happy they were open and had a beef rib for me. The very pregnant lady who took my order was super nice and helpful. She even took the time to make small talk with me. Usually, people always just try to rush you like next... We ordered: 1. Beef rib - At first, I thought I was just getting one, but I think I ordered what they had left. They charge you by the weight. This was a meal on its own. It was so tender and juicy. It wasn't greasy like other places. The seasoning was perfect that you didn't need bbq sauce. You just need bread or mac n cheese to go with it, maybe even just white rice. 2. USDA Prime Brisket Burrito w/ jalapeno cheddar cheese sausage - This is pricy but more than enough to feed 2 people. The brisket was tender, and jalapeno cheese sausage was juicy and flavorful. The mac and cheese just tied it all together. It was literally a portable plate. But why walk and not savor this yummy goodness? 3. Mac and cheese - This was so yummy you can eat it by itself. 4. Fried rice - This had chunks of meat in it. This wasn't the fried rice I was expecting. It was kind of slimy, like, not the dry fried rice I was expecting, like from a Chinese restaurant. This was more of a Latin kind of rice with bits of tomatoes. I didn't care for this too much. It just goes through off the flavors instead of complimenting it if that makes sense. 5. White bread - not sure if they give this with every order, but I had requested it to cut down the greasiness of the meats and kind of break it up. 6. Strawberry kiwi lemonade - Not too tart, but it was refreshing on such a hot day. I was hoping to try the chicharon (pork belly) and cheerwine. Sadly, both were sold out. It was entertaining to watch 2 people in line to tease each other and say, "Save me at least one jalapeno cheddar sausage, I got a family to feed too." They didn't know each other, but I'm sure the guy low-key meant it. I learned it's best to order online. By the time I was waiting for my food, I watched them put up a "sold out" sign on the front door. It was still early, but I guess they sell out fast. Once they are sold out, they are done for the day. I was hoping I would be able to come back this weekend, but sadly, I wasn't able to. I'll be back soon, for sure. My advice is to come early or order online. It was nice to see the two brothers I watched on YouTube actually working and helping customers. I highly appreciate that it wasn't for show like some places.
My recent visit to Ray's Texas BBQ in Huntington Park, California, was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I stepped through the doors, the tantalizing aroma of ribs being prepared filled the air, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience. As a seasoned BBQ enthusiast, I was pleasantly surprised to discover such an outstanding local gem in the vicinity, reminiscent of the BBQ joints I frequented in Texas. My party of three opted for a delectable mix of half ribs, 1 lb of brisket, and half a pound of pork, and we were not disappointed. The ribs, undoubtedly the star of the show, boasted a delightful pepper-flavored spice and effortlessly fell off the bone with each bite. Accompanied by sides of fresh potato salad and delicious macaroni, every aspect of the meal was a culinary delight. Despite the small size of the venue, with seating for approximately 20-24 guests at small picnic tables, the intimate atmosphere added to the charm of the dining experience. However, it's worth noting that arriving early is essential, as the demand for their delectable BBQ ribs saw them sold out by 1pm during our visit at 12:30pm. The friendly and attentive staff, including helpful recommendations from the manager, further contributed to the positive atmosphere. Their dedication to ensuring a memorable dining experience for every guest was evident throughout our visit. While the cost may range from $100 to $150 for a meal for four, the quality and authenticity of the food make it a worthwhile investment. Ray's Texas BBQ is undeniably a must-try destination for BBQ aficionados, and I am eagerly anticipating my next visit to savor their mouthwatering offerings once again.
My wife and I enjoy BBQ very much we have been to many BBQ restaurants around the state especially Texas they are the masters of the BBQ especially the meats they is the beef brisket and beef ribs and sausage. Today we went to Huntington Park go to Ray's Texas BBQ to try it out a friend recommend to try the ribs and brisket it's Texas style BBQ. We step in the restaurant it smell the aroma of BBQ cook what a great aroma we enjoy it. We look at the menu display to what to order we order the ribs, briskets, potatoes salad, and Mac n cheese. The ribs were coming off from bone they were very tender and full of flavor we didn't add any BBQ sauces,we want to get the full flavor of meat it was so good with BBQ sauce wow it add or more to it. The brisket were incredible good the meat was very tender full of flavor season with fresh pepper and salt that's a Texas tradition it works. The potatoe salad was good we enjoy including the mac n cheese loaded with flavor We enjoy very much. My wife and I need come back again bring some friends of our.
True Texas BBQ in the most unlikely of places. Rays offerings are absolutely legit. Their brisket is exceptional after two visits. Same with pulled pork (which is a very forgiving meat I know) and their sausage is phenomenal. No doubt their food will impress you I will keep returning. Parking is somewhat limited and seating is intimate so be patient and be ready to make new friends. Also food is somewhat pricy but we’ll worth the investment. You will not be disappointed.
I happened to come across a featured piece on YouTube about this place. It was a touching and moving story about hard work, passion, and enduring familial love. The BBQ is delicious, flavorful, and generous. I came all the way from New York and told my cousins about this place. And we decided to take the trip from the home in Manhattan Beach to Ray’s. We weren’t disappointed. The sides were equally given their own prime time. The flavored rice was exquisite and the cole slaw is probably the best I’ve had. It had a nice briny flavor with hints of fresh oysters. It was clean, cold, crisp, and finely balanced against the bold flavors of the BBQ. The love can be felt and admired here. Everyone was so happy to be there. Good food, fine company, and lovely weather made for a fantastic experience. Your father is so proud of what you’ve done to carry on his legacy. Wishing you all the power, luck, and success for many moons to come.
Brisket Pupusas Wow! These Pupusas are probably some of the best that I've ever had. They only serve them on Saturdays, and they're well worth the special trip. Beans, cheese and brisket fill the inside and they combine for a delicious delight. So much flavor, the brisket is obviously the star of the show, but the beans and cheese are of a good quality and enhance the entire dish. The cabbage accontriment was fresh and flavorful along with the salsa served on the side. Burrito This burrito sounded amazing.. brisket, sausage and Mac n cheese. When I received it, it looked amazing! A burrito so big that it would easily feed 2 people. Inside was beans, mac n cheese, brisket and jalapeno cheedar sausage served with BBQ sauce on the side. The brisket was amazing, the sausage was just OK. It had a decent flavor, but when biting in to it, it didn't have a nice snap to it. The caused each bite in to the burrito was a tug o war with the sausage as it didn't snap cleanly into a nice bite. The casing was pretty tough and chewy. The inside of the sausage was pretty good.. The mac n cheese was a typical one - not bad, not amazing - just a decent cheesy Mac. The BBQ sauce was really tasty, it had a spicy kick to it. I really enjoyed this and it elevated the burrito a lot. Overall, the burrito needed the spicy BBQ sauce to make it enjoyable. It was falling apart easily with each bite that contained sausage which made this more of a fork affair rather than a handheld event. The pupusas on the other hand, I'd recommend everyone to make their way here on a Saturday to try these. Super delicious!
Let's get the bad out of the way, Ray charges a premium price for a low class area, no restrooms, so with that out of the way, we have a great BBQ, I always prefer a good dry rub over wet, but you enjoy the sauce rather, this is for you. Other than the spicy sausages which are really good , the others are basic salt pepper, and you add their home made sauce which compliments it. The burrito for me hit home, and had to take half home, it's enormous..
I heard of this place from a friend and wanted to try it out. I got the pulled pork and brisket with mac and cheese, cole slaw, bbq rice and potato salad. The sides were all great and the bbq rice was interesting in a good way. My only complaint is the cost for the amount of food I got. I paid $95 for 1/2 of brisket, 1/2 of pulled pork and 4 sides. The amount of meat was small in my opinion (photos) so be aware that 1/2 of meat is very small. I would suggest getting a pound instead. Overall, good place that I will visit once or twice a year.
This is a constructively critical review. I would love to come back if there is improvement on one front. I was nearby, I had never tried brisket outside of the South, and I had heard that this was the best in LA. I had an overall very pleasant experience. The folks that work there are soooo sweet. It's a little on the pricey side but I knew that going in so I'm not knocking them on that point. I ordered the classic brisket sandwich. It was seasoned pretty well, kind of spicy and peppery. The big issue is it just isn't the right texture. It has more of a dense, steak-y rather than that that melt-in-your mouth quality of the best cuts. Additionally, it would greatly benefit from some char and maybe a little more depth to the seasoning but that should take a backseat to getting the texture down. The best briskets that I've tasted never tempt me to indulge in sauces; this one definitely needed the sauce... The mac and cheese was pretty tasty. It has grilled onions in it if that is your thing. The family obviously takes a lot of pride in their business, and it is successful. I wish them all the best, and I would love to have a great bbq place less than 30 minutes from my home in Koreatown, but until I get some indication that they really have the flavors/textures dialed in, I will probably just wait until my trips home to enjoy BBQ.
