My favorite place! The absolute best for pots of mussels. Never disappointed! Have dined here at least 10 times and we are always very happy!

We went for a restaurant week dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. The drinks were good but the food was great. The chicken with spatzle and the profiterole were both outstanding. The onion soup was good and had a lot of cheese.

This is the place to go for high quality, authentic, French cooking. One of my favorite place to stop when I'm in the area.

Great place, great food. A little tight but service was good, food was amazing, everything, cheese, crab cake, salad, salmon with lentils, chicken, braised ribs risotto and bass with tomato sauce. Mussels with tomato are also pretty good. The chateau neuf du pap was delicious as well!

I'm 29 now. When I was a kid and this first opened up, my mom took me for lunch. Because she liked places like this. We met Hugo who was the owner and we fell in love with him and his restuarant. He was one of the nicest gentlemen I've ever met. He asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said an astronaut. The next time we went in about a week later, we went for dinner, he saw us and he gave me a bunch of papers on how to train to become an astronaut. Unheard of. What a great man for even remembering. I'm not an astronaut sadly but cassis is still booming. I love impressing my girlfriend taking her out here. Only great memories here.

A wonderful visit to France is what you'll find here in this quaint, personable bistro. The staff is educated and quick, the fare is tasty and exciting. Sit outside in good weather. Great for date night or an intimate dinner. Lunch.

There are many fine restaurants that have come and gone. However, for me, for years, the consistantly finest dining is found at Bistro Cassis. Bistro Cassis serves nothing but extradinary food, with the most professional service anywhere. Maitre 'd Gabriel cannot be a more decent , kind man who runs the restaurant in a way that makes you feel welcome and runs it so that every part of the dining experience is perfect. The menu, even in Covid times, is rich and varied. Every night there are always intriguing specials. The wine list is large and the bar, run by the wonderful Martine, has every drink imaginable perfectly prepared. The desserts? C'est Manifique! Don't miss the Caesar salad. You'll never have a more unique better one (my favorite). You could eat the Sole Meuniere every night. Careful! No reservations, but run, don't walk, to the best dinner in Huntington at Bistro Cassis.

Cassis is an old haunt that I've rediscovered recently. Why go back? Warm bread, butter and paté are at the table by the time you've read the first two appetizers on the menu. They ask for your water preference immediately. The service is real French Bistro style: very well mannered, but friendly, and not overdone for the setting. Menu offerings are an excellent mix of traditional and new(ish) French. Yes, you can get traditionally prepared escargots and a very good steak tartare. (However, you will not be having cervelle de veau.) In short, Cassis is a perfect little place to enjoy an excellent meal in good company.

First rate restaurant. Very nice across the board, the owner is notoriously almost always there and then some taking a genuine hands on responsibility of, by and toward his guests. Excellent food and drink, lovely atmosphere. Very much appreciate the privilege of such a warm, welcoming top rate facility. Thank you always!

Amazing dinner. Excellent bread!! Had the mussels in red sauce with frites. Only complaint is how loud the restaurant gets

I love going here with my friend and mentor Steve, you will be greeted properly, seated and served, they have a good bread, olive, meat and cheese selection. And the food is always just what you ask for. They've been around for a long time and aren't going anywhere! You'll see! Go for yourself, enjoy a real dining experience in one of the best neighborhoods around! A+ always a delicious meal to be had, and cooked to perfection every time.

Some of the best French Bistro food you’ll find on Long Island. I’ve been here a few times and I’ve yet to order something I didn’t absolutely love. Their lamb shank is an absolute favorite of mine. The cocktail menu is diverse and very good. They also have an incredibly delicious Brunch menu as well.

V

French ambiance was a perfect setting. staff was knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. Bartender was chatty and friendly. the Duck was perfectly prepared with a crusty skin, delicious. the braised lamb was decadent and melted in your mouth. highly highly recommend a visit.

Excellent cuisine, fresh and delicious! What more can you ask? The servers were highly attentive and the restaurant was both classy and cozy. The prices were reasonable. It's not the most inexpensive place in the town of Huntington, but for a classy French bistro with fine wines and a wide range of exotic dishes, it is very fairly priced. Not the place to bring little kids. It's not Applebees. Great for a small group of friends or a more intimate dinner with your spouse or significant other. For those picky eaters, yes, there is a Hamburger on the menus with some classic French twists. Would highly recommend!

Wow! One of the best meals I've ever had. You'll pay a good price, but it is well worth it. I wish I lived in Huntington so I could visit here more often. Outstanding. I had a beef and pasta dish. An appetizer with dates. So super yummy.

Liked the place, loved the food and the service. I’m no french cuisine expert, in fact I ate mostly Italian food while in Paris, so I can’t tell you “how French” the food is at Cassis. I can only tell you it was delicious, and the right amount. Keep in mind I’m 230lbs, so I guess it’s abundant for some. I did have room left for a dessert though, which was excellent. But the duck was out of this world!

Went for brunch with my husband & sister-in-law. I ordered the mushroom & goat cheese crepe. When my meal came it was mushrooms & spinach (I don’t like spinach ). I told the waiter it was wrong & he blamed it on the chef. After waiting for my food(my food mates were already finished eating) when my meal was given to me by a different waiter it was AGAIN spinach & mushrooms. I told him that it was wrong again but I was hungry & ate just the crepe. Funny part is the dish I got wasn’t even in the menu. My husband had ordered a second bloody Mary& the waiter subtracted the drink from our bill. Big deal!!! I will NEVER got back again!!!

Terrific French bistro cuisine. Enjoyed their Cassis Salad and a delicious special soup- pureed carrot and asparagus, with their lovely French bread and butter. For an entree, I greatly enjoyed their Saumon Aux Lentilles. Look forward to returning soon to try other dishes!

A comfortable favorite, particularly brunch. Mussels provincales, baked brie w fruit was delicious as was the steak au poivre, slightly past medium rare which is not the usual.nice evening, great staff, very attentive.

Quaint bistro with great french cuisine. Definitely not a quiet place until later in the evening. Great variety of food and drink options. Easy to reserve a table ahead of time. Had a birthday dinner here and the restaurant was accommodating. Parking is the only hassle, as there is no dedicated planning lot so your best best is one of Huntington's Municipal lots. As it is just off the "main St" it is not a long walk from any parking lot. Will definitely be going back for other occasions.

Honestly thought only Americans knew how to make a burger, I found out otherwise. I don't eat bivalves, but my partner and kid both claimed they were perfectly cooked. I understand how hard it is to get mussels just right. Plus the sauce was on point. Have only eaten here twice, it's really a shame I don't live closer.

R

Small French bistro with classic entrees! Their menu is updated to reflect seasonal specialties. Crepes, quiche, salads, and some sandwiches are wonderful. They do have some outdoor seating to accommodate customers that do not want to eat outside during the covid pandemic. Staff is very knowledgeable and efficient. Definitely a keeper in the Huntington area!

R

Came here to compliment the service. After I tried to buy a gift card from there on the phone, there was snafu (not the restaurants fault) and it was lost in the mail. I spoke with the manager a few times and was greeted seriously and courteously and he resolved the problem seamlessly. Now I'll have to go the the restaurant myself!

C

We happened upon this restaurant when we were going to the movies next door and needed a place for lunch. We were both pleasantly surprised with how good the service was and how delicious the food was. My husband had the Caesar salad with chicken and I had the salad Cassis with chicken. It is a small little French restaurant with great ambiance.

Better than France. Let me tell you something: we all know that French cuisine is one of the best in the world, but how can a french restaurant in Long Island be better than in France? It is the best restaurant where I ever been, and I will keep recommending this place to anybody, being the real First restaurant in Huntington and Long Island. Don’t hesitate, just go.

L

Always delicious, brunch was wonderful. Eggs benedict, onion tart and omelet did not disappoint. Certain Pre fix brunch items come with bacon and sausage as well as a mimosa or bloody mary. French cuisine that always meets expectations.

Good French cuisine is a little hard to find this far east on the Island, but this almost hole-in-the-wall bistro off the main beat of Huntington Village will definitely satisfy any French aficionados. True to the culture, attention to detail comes first. The staff are always well-spoken and composed, as well as super attentive to your needs. Empty plates don't sit on your table, and water/drinks are always refilled promptly. Ambience and decor are clean and cozy, with a calming pastel red theme that draws my imagination to a Parisian corner, with a decent spacing of seating to allow for an intimate dining experience. But of course, the food is the star of the establishment. My latest meal, the Magret de Canard au Cassis, was superb, with the duck perfectly cooked, paired perfectly with a raspberry sauce, but I've yet to try a dish I haven't loved. It is a little pricey, but wholly worth it for the experience; looking forward to my next culinary adventure there.

What a perfect place for dining, whether morning, day or night. We frequent the bistro often and we are never disappointed with the service and food. This is a hidden jewel in Huntington Village and I highly recommend this place for all occasions. The escargot especially was to die for.

We have been coming here for years. The food has always been excellent. We were there last night. It seems like they have added a few more items on the menu and the food was even better than we remembered it. Not sure how they improved on the already outstanding food. Service could have been just a little better but no complaints. Just not as crisp as usual. Nevertheless, keep up the great work. We will be back.

Lovely classic french bistrot. Escargot, onion soup, and tartare were great, well made classics. And the duck entree was lovely. Food was very solid overall, service was above average for a classic french bistrot, and atmosphere was appropriate. Prices were on the average to higher side but not ridiculous. I was annoyed we couldn't make a reservation but we didn't have trouble getting a table nor did the servers rush us out at all. Overall we were very happy with our dinner and would love to come back.

Had a wonderful dinner on a Sunday night with my boyfriend. Our first time there, very new to French Cuisine. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff and service were excellent. The food was amazing. The bread served hot and on your dish promptly, to enjoy. Portions were the perfect size. Over all had a wonderfully experience and I will definitely be returning.

1st experience of dining at Bistro Cassis. Absolutely cannot wait to go back!!! The entrees including salmon, chicken, and duck were absolutely delicious!!! French onion soup to start was perfect. Fresh berries layered in filo dough was the ideal ending. Wait staff was courteous and did not rush any part of the meal. I would highly recommend Bistro Cassis!!!

*Updated review* Tried a dine-in experience here and it was truly fantastic. We had the mussels, duck confit tacos, summer squash flatbread, scallops, and shrimp soufflé and it was excellent. A half order of mussels was more than enough. I think the duck confit tacos were the highlight. Service was a bit slow, dinner was about 2.5 hours long. We ordered through Uber eats. The calamari was great. The peppercorn steak was good. We ordered the stuffed pork chops with Brussels sprouts but received pork Milanese instead with French fries and a salad. Obviously this wasn’t what we wanted. When I called the woman gave one excuse after the next, blaming Uber saying they have the wrong menu item, then saying I didn’t read it properly and then finally when she admitted to the mistake she said it should have been fine because it was the same price. It’s an honest mistake but I didn’t appreciate the attitude. The creme brûlée was a bit disappointing as well.

In one word……AMAZING!!!!!! My sister and I came here for my birthday dinner and it was phenomenal. From the service to the food it was just a great experience. I have a duck and my sister had the hanger steak and so flavorful. Been to Paris twice and I never thought here especially on Long Island that I would be able to find authentic or at least near authentic French food. But this place changed my mind. My sister and I will definitely be coming back. Bravo to all the staff at Cassis.

My wife and wanted French cuisine, first time their. The waitress was amazing she said she only being working 6 months she treat us like stars especially my wife. The food was amazing the atmosphere was fabulous and intimate food out of this world food including the service. The waitress gave us a drink made up by the owner from Argentina I believe she said.need to go back with our grand daughter. Everyone love my wife salt and pepper hair. The beautiful young waitress that gave us those drinks made me forget her name is amazing.i think she into photography. Thank you for a great experience. The Williams

we have been coming here for at least 13 years. food and wait service is perfect. i have so many favorites. however, the manager was rude and insulting to my wife on valentines day when checking in. no excuse!! maybe the fact that there were 8 empty tables when we left at 8:15 indicates they have a problem? yes?

Intimate French bistro with excellant food and service. My wife and I had an excellent lunch today. I had a French style steak sandwich and my wife had the fish sandwich. We both had French fries and profiterol for desert. I had a Chimay Bleu. The French style sandwiches were quite different and delicious

I came for my birthday and was whisked away back to France. The beef tartar was perfection: well composed, full of flavor, with crisp baguette. We paired that with the frisee lardon salad topped with a perfectly poached egg. My only gripe was that the lardons were a bit more crisp and not as chewy as I like, but thats me looking for something to critique. My partner had the onglet steak with a beautiful demi-glace and I had the Sole Meuniere, both of which were so flavorful I had to close my eyes to let the flavors take over my senses completely. Finally I ordered the chocolate cake with ice cream. I was expecting a layer cake but was pleasantly surprised when a perfectly baked chocolate lava cake was placed on the table. Pure chocolate heaven with berries and vanilla ice cream. We came on a tuesday night, maybe three other tables, and the service was incredible. I had two mocktails and my partner had the waiter recommended Red wine.

Love Cassis. You must have the pate. Then the escargot and fennel mussels. The tarte is the sweetest, most flavorful Flatbread I've ever had. The staff is friendly and accommodating (mostly. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Bistro Cassis, where every dish was prepared to perfection. The Boeuf Bourguignon was exquisitely cooked, rich in flavor, and beautifully balanced. My wife opted for the Sole Meunière, which was delightfully light and full of delicate flavors. The service was just as impressive—our waiter was attentive without being intrusive, offering thoughtful recommendations and demonstrating a deep understanding of the menu, which helped us make the perfect selections. A truly memorable dining experience!

The cocktails are potent. They are definitely not watered down. I could only drink a sip at a time. I had the Le Poire—Grey Goose Pear Vodka, St. Germaine Liqueur and fresh-squeezed lime juice. It was well worth the money. This is the most authentic French restaurant that I know of on the Island. They serve free homemade pâté. They also make crêpes Suzette. I had a fantastic dining experience here. I will be back soon!

Bistro Cassis is soooooo good. I got the Duck Cassis. The duck was perfectly cooked and the sauce was absolutely amazing. The raspberries added a perfect amount of citrus to the rich cassis sauce. The mushroom confit was so creamy that my tongue melted into that buttery goodness and I was in a sinful state of French food bliss. The chocolate mouse was worth every single calorie I went over consuming the whole thing. I would do it again in front of my personal trainer with no regrets. Go here. Eat here. You won't regret it.

Amazing food. I've not had steak au poivre since I was in Montreal 10 years ago. The warm welcome, and very generous hospitality are fantastic. You're encouraged to take your time and enjoy your food, even if you come close to closing like I did. Every bite for me tonight was just magical. Well worth the price of admission. Other than the hospitality, the best part, they REALLY KNOW how to make a rare steak. Warm on the inside, but still red and soft like butter on the inside

This place will make you feel like you're in a restaurant in Paris. Their wine selection is on point and they even have 1664 French beer. Overall, it's a great environment, delicious food and drinks (accompanied by great service).

G
Gamal Aly

The food was incredible and although the prices are quite high, the cuisine comes off as highly authentic French (high fat, lots of milks, butters, exotic poultry, etc.). My only two gripes with cassis was the waiting period for dinner, it took over an hour to get our orders, and the size of the venue... it's incredibly cramped inside the restaurant.

Bonjour petit Bistro tucked away in the quieter part of Huntington Village. You will feel transported by its tasteful ambiance and hearty, rustic, aromatic French dishes. There is even a Macaroni and Cheese (Au Gratin) if you are not in the mood for Mussels (Moules). You cannot leave here without the onion soup and eating so much warm and crusty baguette bread with friends and the perfect wine.

G
Gregg Grossman

Beautifully recreated thoroughly French bistro. Decor took me back to days when I could watch the crowds stroll alongthe river Seine. Food was excellent and authentic. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the waitstaff who were not very knowledgeable about the menu. The sommelier also was subpar, a shame since the wine list was small but expertly selected.

Wow! The food here was 5 stars...excellent menu choices, served hot, tastefully arranged, and absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection (vegetables were al dente, chicken was juicy, duck breast came out medium rare, as ordered) and displayed with artistic flair. Staff was very friendly and accommodating on a very busy Saturday night. The only drawbacks were the tight quarters and the long wait for our drink orders (we had to ask several times for their whereabouts.) Wish I could give it 4.5 stars! Will definitely return at quieter time.

Cassis has been reliable for many years. Perhaps we hit a bad night. Service was forgetful, at best. 3 of us were happy with the food. I struck out with paella. Sandy muscles, & overcooked chicken ruled the dish. The calamari were ok, the shrimp & scallops were quite right. Wbg choices are good and reasonably priced. All 3 desserts were very good.

The French onion soup was very salty…however it had the necessary ingredients to make it work. The scallop appetizer was expertly prepared and beautifully presented on two large scallop shells however there were only two tiny scallops along with the mushrooms and cheese. The duck le orange what is the best I’ve ever had… Even in Paris. The wine selection was very adequate and well priced. Service was great!

I would go back here. It was French, but not snooty or pretentious. The bread was good, as was my Mac n cheese. Steak tartare was a little too vinegary. And the steak w peppercorn sauce was just okay. But the layered potatoes were buttery and thin and delicious. Service was excellent. We parked in the town parking lot about a block away

We were in for two on a Saturday night. A brief wait at the bar for a table. Good energy in the full dining room. Our server, Jerry was great. Service was attentive but relaxed. Didn’t feel rushed and everything was as timed really well. The goat cheese salad, hangar steak and rack of lamb were all good. The wine list is simple and sufficient- great options in different price ranges. I love that this place has nice atmosphere and great food but is still casual and easy to drop in on any night of the week. Definitely in the regular rotation for us!

The food here is excellent!!! We have been here a few times and it is generally very good. TBH each time it is a little less good. The service, not the food... the food is delicious. I understand that it is very difficult to get restaurant staff and am trying to keep this in mind, but with the staff they have they maybe need a new strategy. The last 2 times we have been there i ordered another glass of wine when my meal comes. One time it didn't come until after I finished eating and this last time was almost the same. I feel like we spent more time trying to be alert in case the server came by so we could ask for something than enjoying our food and company at the table.

It's was good classic bistro Service was top notch, the people knocked it out of the park, from the bartender , who knows how to make a martini , to the waitstaff Food very good, everyone was happy all 7 of us, and the duck guy we went with loved the Tuesday duck, loved it Wine, great!!!! Tons of really good wine by the glass and the bottles were fairly priced Beer, good Cocktails very good, nice size bar So overall nice place and we'll run , hard working nice people

They recently changed their Sunday Brunch, and it's not for the better. Though service remains great, the banana pancakes are no longer cooked with the bananas inside... instead they just sit on top. The delicious "cylinder" potatoes are also no longer available. It's a shame, as previously the brunch at Cassis was outstanding.

V
Victoria Lorenzi

It was okay. The service is friendly. The place it's self is stylist. Deserts are amazing. The only problem I have with it is that my steak always ends up bloody. Then when they take it back to cook it more they only burn the top layer and the steak will still bleed whenever I cut or pinch it with a fork.

J
Joseph NewYork

We tried an old hangout again and some dishes were very good, others not so. The emulsified vegetable soup was good. The escargot was totally different and not thrilling; not made with traditional butter and garlic, but greens and creamy. Sole and salmon were both large portions and very good. The chicken was good. The dessert looked delicious but was dry, lacking enough pudding to accompany the raspberries. All in all, our dinner was an average experience.

Eh. I had the strip steak but why was it covered in gravy? The scallops over burgundy was ok had a bit of fishy smell. Customer service was ok.

The waitress wasn't properly trained. They wouldn't substitute grilled chicken with grilled chicken. The beef bourguignon was just OK.

I ordered a salmon entree. I was very disappointed with this entree. The salmon was merely served with 4 stalks of asparagus -- no potato, no rice. At $25.00 (approximate price) the entree was completely overpriced. Another person in our party ordered a hamburger (approximately $11.00). This meal was better outfitted with large fried potatoes, which lead me to conclude that the kitchen at Bistro Cassis is more comfortable with fast food items.

Got a gift card from my father last year who goes there frequently. Was going to go for my birthday as food is really good but the card expired. After 12 Months 100% of funds expired. Went to website of card and there is no way to confirm balance. To restaurant: If you have not changed gift card suppliers please do. The 100% expiration policy is not moral and can’t confirm balance on card. To help with details card is RestStar appears to be a third party supplier. Thanks

Ordered chicken for 2. It was very dried up. I think its cornish hen. Bread was hard as a rock. Must have been a bad night. Have ordered in past and it was good. Would have liked to give a good review.

I've had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant quite a bit pre pandemic and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I can say the same for this time around. The foie gras on the table was heavy and gamey. I ordered a sidecar for a cocktail, didn't taste at all as it should. We ordered only the escargots to share as nothing else seemed appealing. They were good but, not enough to share. I selected the Tagliatelle Au Boeuf Bourguignon for a main course. The meat was tasty but, dried out from being cooked too long with pasta drying up and becoming a little hard as there was nothing on it. Being a French restaurant, this was quite disappointing as it doesn't come close to the standard that it should be held to. Needless to say I won't be returning. It's a shame!

Usually have had a good experience at Bistro Cassis until tonight when my wife and I were walking home on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. They had sidewalk seating and the waiter was in a big hurry and pushed my wife out of the way to get to a table. When I reported it to the manager he said “I didn’t see it so there isn’t much I can say”. Nice response to an employee nearly knocking a pregnant woman to the ground!

It was one of the worst restaurant experiences I ever had. The waitress messed up the order. The beef tartare looked like it was made the day before. The entrees did not arrive for one hour. Everyone who came on after us got there meal and we still waited. I asked as to why the delay, but nothing happened. When the entrees finally arrived one of the dishes was not what we ordered. The staff didn't want to redo the correct dish (rack of lamb). I made thrm take it back, but it was kept on a warmer and came back over done. The coq au vin finally arrived, but with congealed inedible egg noodles. The manager asked what he should do when I again complained. He was rude and arrogant. He didn't seem to have any understanding of customer service. Did the owners not train him to apologize and take something off the bill! He asked me what to do. I asked for the check and left. Next time I will go to Red or drive to Sage Moderne. I have never previously written a bad review for any restaurant anywhere.

I was presented with the check after finishing my entree around 9pm on a Sunday as if to say, “Get out.” Aren’t the posted restaurant hours 5pm to 10pm? I showed up at 8pm. I asked if the kitchen was closed for desert and the server replied, “I’m afraid so.” I’ll never eat there again. Been going there for years, now I’ll tell everyone how horrible they really are. Your 5 hour workday must have been real troublesome. Not to mention the employee that walked out into the dining room shirtless toward the end of our stay. Real professional.

Just went to Cassis for the restaurant week prix fixe lunch they advertised. Guess what, they don’t offer it. When I asked why, they got very annoyed. When I showed them their own website they got even more huffy. Be warned .

On Sat 9/23/23 on a miserable rainy night, I had a 6:30pm reservation for 6. 4 of us were there on time and the final couple was parking the car. I approached the manager or owner, not sure which, to tell him we were there and the final couple would be arriving in a few minutes we'd like to be seated. We were told not until the whole party was present. I said the small lobby was very crowded due to the weather and we would like to be seated to order drinks and free up some space in the lobby. I was told rather sternly "not until the entire party was present and if I don't like it you can leave". That's what we did and i will never go back. So unless you're OK with very rude behavior I don't recommend frequenting Bistro Cassis.

Food is average, not worth the price. And its a little dirty inside this place. I agree with the fact that there is absolutely no privacy, they stack tables on top of each other with a complete stranger sitting should to shoulder with you. I went here for a date with my girlfriend hoping to have a nice evening, and were treated as if we weren’t even there.... My guess is because i am younger, the waitress was only focusing on her other tables. My water sat empty for at least 10 minutes and i wasn’t offered another glass of wine until after our meal was finished. Overall i was let down, had high hopes for this place because of the rating, but they must have the waitstaff and friends posting reviews lol. No manager was even around to ask how we were doing of it everything was alright.

So not impressed with this place - frisée in my salad was wilted and brown, bread was cold. No flavor whatsoever in the escargot and steak. Pretty sure the French fries were frozen and generic. Peppercorn sauce tasted canned or at the very least not homemade. Steak was mediocre, I could have gotten better flavor at the outback - and that’s not saying much. Just not what I expected for the price and reputation. Very disappointing.

We never got our food! So this review is about the service. Here’s a rough timeline - we were seated around 720ish. We asked to sit outside (myself and husband). After 5 minutes, a waiter came to see if we were being helped (first flag). We said no, and then placed our drink orders. I ordered a white, husband a red. 5 minutes later and out comes two whites. I correct the staff and they come back with a red. After 10 minutes more, the waiter comes to take our order. We place an order for mussels for apps and then each an entree. 10 or so minutes go by and the table on one side of us receives their apps. 10 minutes more the table on the other side receives their apps. My husband and I are talking (on a date sans kids so not paying attention to the time going by) and then realize that both tables have since finished their apps and we still don’t have ours. The one table next to us at this point has received a couple of rounds of drinks. Our waiter has yet to come to check in. Another waiter actually asks us if we want another round of drinks. I say yes that would be great and also asked her where our food was. She said she couldn’t help me as she wasn’t our waiter but could get us drinks. We’re continuing to sit and the one table next to us that had at that point over 2 rounds of drinks, their apps and now received their entrees. We looked at the time and it was 8:30. We had empty wine glasses, a waiter not in sight, and still no mussels. We placed cash on the table paying for the drinks and we walked away. I blame this entirely on the staff. The food looked and smelled incredible and would love to try again but gosh I will for sure be asking not for the particular waiter we had.

(Disclaimer: before posting this review I emailed both Cassis and the restaurant group that Cassis operates under, RestStar Hospitality, about my experience and haven't heard back from either in a week. I've also called Cassis twice to speak with the manager and he/she is never available when I call, and have also called RestStar Hospitality; when calling them I was greeted with a voice menu listing several businesses, which leads me to suspect RestStar Hospitality may be owned by a private equity firm, which would explain the downward trajectory of quality I recently experiences at Cassis. What concerns me the most is that neither the restaurant or ownership seem to have any interest in addressing my experience. Below is the email I sent them). My wife and I have children and occasionally get some time to ourselves for a nice dinner. Bistro Cassis has been one of the destinations we've visited repeatedly over the years when we're feeling like having a special dinner and spending a bit more money than we typically would as a treat to ourselves. This past Friday night we dined at Bistro Cassis; I've ordered just about every entree on the menu over the years so I decided to go with one I hadn't ordered yet, the steak frites. At $57 I thought the price was a bit steep for such a simple staple of a bistro menu, but decided to order it anyway. The cut of beef was not near the quality to be charging $57 for, the steak had barely any flavor (and surprisingly the maître d’hotel butter was lacking flavor as well), and the frites were pedestrian at best. I've had plenty of disappointing meals over the years, I think we all have, but given the price for this meal compared with the low quality of the dish I actually felt ripped off. This wasn't the case of the steak simply being overcooked; it was a combination of poor preparation/planning of the dish, low-quality ingredients, and underwhelming execution. I didn't complain at the restaurant because I didn't want to ruin dinner with my wife as it's not an occasion we get to enjoy often. It's a shame to say I won't be dining at Bistro Cassis again. My wife and I always enjoyed our prior meals there, we love the food offered at a French style bistro and felt up until Friday night Cassis was a great option, but we can't afford to take the risk of paying (what is for us) a good amount of money for a bad meal. I felt you should hear about our experience; given the fickle nature of the restaurant business this is not the kind of food you want your restaurant to be putting out of the kitchen, at least not at the prices you're charging. If I had this experience I don't think it's a stretch to assume other diners are having similar experiences, as well.

Food and service has declined. I almost broke my tooth while eating the mussels. The wine was sour and the service team was too busy to be of service. It is not worth the money. I will go back to Le Petite Framboise (which looks like a sister restaurant).
