Great atmosphere and very lively. The staff were attentive and super friendly. Didn’t have to wait too long for drinks. Drinks were excellent btw. We didn’t eat here but we hung out with some drinks and watched the band play. Definitely a chill spot and we will definitely return when we come back to Jackson. I also want to add that this was our first time in Wyoming, and the locals were very friendly and inviting. The Teton landscape is nothing short of breathtaking.
We had a terrific light meal here after our ski day. The restaurant locally sources many of its offerings. Everyone in our party had excellent food. I only got a couple of pics. I highly recommend the soup, beef barley with pretzel garnish!
Came here as a date with the Mrs. during our 20 yr anniversary week vacation and it didn't disappoint. The parking was luckily free since it was after 3 pm in a designated parking lot separated from 1 hour and 30 minute parking spaces around the perimeter. It was also just just a few yards away from the Mangy Moose main entrance. We found our way upstairs to the dining room where we didn't know you had to have reservations (even on a Thursday 🤔) so we were offered a bar seating which was suitable. She had the Moose Stragnoff and I had the Moose burger with their Moose Drool beer. The bartender was friendly and justly attentive without being annoying. A man from Ohio, Steve, sat by us with his friend where we engaged in interesting conversation where we talked about our families, my culture and his career as a distillery professional. Steve was a man I'd trust as a berserker in a battle after the way he ordered and ate down a good rare steak with a classy Cabernet Sauvignon. Steve ended up covering our evening after learning of my military service and our 20 yr anniversary so I can't speak of the establishments billing, however we still tipped our barkeep. The aura of this place was right up our alley with different era (US) flags hanging everywhere along with other American icon decorations of a replica of the Wright Brothers airplane, many hanging heads of game like moose, deer and elk amongst other random signage. We loved every part of our visit here and would do it again. Sköl!
Excellent experience. A great place to relax and spend time with family and friends. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it’s clear the staff enjoys working there just as much as guests enjoy being there. Coco was an outstanding server—attentive and genuinely kind. Thank you for a wonderful visit. Highly recommended—definitely give it a try!
Best meal we have had in Jackson! Burger was great but the ribs were over the top delicious. Love the huckleberry BBQ sauce.
Firstly, whoa. I'm in a foreign territory. The terrain is challenging and beautiful. The people are bright and always ready to ski. Jackson is a true American gem of a resort and community. Nestled near its heart is a party, a concert, and a breath of fresh air, all to be found at The Mangy Moose. In the spring and summer seasons, it hosts some giant Moose friends. Year-round, though, they host some amazing live musicians and bands that only add to the vibe of this incredibly nostalgic tavern. It's got a western range and plains and an inspired menu with modern Americana refreshments. I had David's Chopped Salad and Truffle Fries. Typical me. 🫠. Exceptional taste, the food I mean. The veggies and fruits were the freshest, and not just for late December. Crisp and delicious combo with the cashew and vinaigrette dressing innovation. The Fries were just perfect. A deliberate chef laced them personally and perfectly with parmesan and the truffle oil was superb. Niki, my server, was the completion of this place's charm. Her timing and check-ins were perfect, and she took care of everyone like this. I'm enamored by the Mangy Moose, and as a patron, I feel incredibly respected by the effort behind their presentation and delicious delivery. I was also lucky enough to see Whiskey Moonlight perform live. A live guitar duo that can rock a crowd. I had an amazing time at the Mangy Moose and you will too, cheers!
We see why the Mangy Moose is so well known. What a great place to visit in Teton Village for a full sit-down meal, which we had, and the experience from the food to the service was outstanding. We loved the Wyoming feel inside! Next door to the restaurant is the saloon, then downstairs is a wine & grocery store, a toy shop, and an ice cream shop. This place really is amazing!
Lovely little family friendly place with great vibes, staff that sings with you to all the fun music, a great selection of drinks, and great wings. Could hang for hours at the bar, just chatting with everyone.
I went here twice in one day for both lunch (outside) and dinner (inside). The food was incredible and the atmosphere was just as good. I had the freebird sandwich for lunch which is a fried chicken sandwich. For dinner I had the elk stroganoff which was a 10/10. I cannot recommend that dish enough. The elk was so tender. I will definitely come back here if I'm ever in Jackson Hole
My boyfriend and I stopped in the area after visiting Yellowstone and the food was delicious! It was nice visiting during the off season. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and were fantastic along with the elk burger. The elk burger was a big dry but everything else was delicious. Definitely worth stopping by when in the area and the servers were very nice
We had a great experience at the Mangy Moose Cafe! The chef is from Mexico, so the tacos were super authentic and delicious (corn tortillas 😍🙌🏻). A few beers on tap, a few in cans. They had espressos, a great hamburger, pizza, and more.. the service was good, atmosphere cool, and we really loved the food. The pizza was pretty good, tacos were awesome, I got a hamburger (with jalapeño and guacamole, held the cheese, and got a lettuce wrap) and it was VERY good. Fries were awesome, too. Prosecco was $7, beer about the same. I spent about $25 for the burger, fries, espresso and prosecco. Not bad! I'd definitely come back.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Truffle fries are awesome. Had ribs, chicken sandwich, Ruben, & bison burger. Oh, and beer was good and cold. :-)
One year ago it was not offered any reservation and if it is like this right now please come 15 min before opening otherwise it will be big line to enter! I really was impressed by their food! I really cannot say I found any good food in Jackson but in this place we never were dissatisfied! We ordered bison 🦬 mince meat and the steak from special menu. I really do not remember if I ever tried so delicious steak 🥩 in whole my life!!!!! You really have to come if you want to experience this unique vibe of the place and excellent food!!
Surprisingly I had the best margarita! I am a Margarita lover and well! Mangy Moose has the best Margarita I ever had 🩷 great service.
The atmosphere at Mangey Moose is on the quieter side, which we appreciated, especially for a $$$-level spot. The burger was solid—juicy, flavorful, and cooked well. Tried the Firebird chicken sandwich too; while the chicken itself was great, the huckleberry BBQ sauce wasn’t really my thing—felt a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, a good experience with room for a few tweaks!
My wife and I had a late dinner at Mangy Moose at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was conveniently located next-door to the hotel we were staying in. We were greeted by one of the cooks who was very friendly. We were told by the host that the restaurant was closing early but we could sit at the bar they would accommodate us. We shared a VIA FERRATA BURRATA FLATBREAD PIZZA, a CAESAR SALAD with GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST, & two sparkling waters with lime. The Burrata Flatbread Pizza was good, but the sauce could be better. The Caesar Salad was very good. The bartender Julie was cool, and was playing good music like LED Sound System, Modest Mouse, and Wet Leg. We spent $64.65 including tip.
I love this place! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by a friendly and relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The excellent staff is incredibly attentive and genuinely passionate about providing a memorable dining experience. This restaurant is truly an iconic spot to visit in Teton Village. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. I can’t recommend it enough!
Amy and her team went above and beyond to make our wedding dinner/reception everything we dreamed of. From answering all of our emails, staying in touch throughout the whole process to listening to what we were looking for and how we visioned the tables and decor to look - they were attentive and nailed it!! On top of that, the food was delicious - all of our guests loved their dishes and commented on how good the appetizers were. The service was great and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate with our close family and friends.
The morning breakfast was delicious. The gift shop and convenience store were great.
We went to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday while visiting Jackson Hole. The service was great (thanks Martin) the food and drinks were even better. As a family of four it can be hard to find things everyone will like, this wasn't an issue here. While the fried green tomatoes, and the falafal burger were definitely highlights, the bison burger was the star of our table. Chefs kiss! Thanks for having us, we will be back.
Ok just get the nachos with meat ! Thats the only thing I would order here because the nachos are so awesome. The jalapeños are hot ! Though so be careful with them I have never had a better plate of nachos before!
This place is AWESOME! Everything I would expect from a ski town bar/saloon and then some. We stopped in for the Mrs.' 40th celebration and were blown away from the absolutely outstanding service. Huge shout out to Dutch for totally making our night, we'll certainly never forget this place!! The food was criminally good for the price. I had the falafel burger and fries - best ive had in a VERY long time. The Mrs had the fig blue cheese flatbread and ended up scraping the board it came on clean. The service was top notch, and by far the best we've had in the area. Try the Wyoming Whiskey 120 proof they have, can't get this stuff anywhere else - I grew up in Kentucky, I know my whiskey and bourbon. All I can say is my home state needs to step up their game. 11/10, we'll fly back for it.
The atmosphere is the winner here. Fun, casual, après-ski vibes for sure. Got some pitchers of beer and nachos - thought the nachos were solid and big enough for 4-5 people. Live music on a Friday afternoon was awesome. Definitely would go back
Great atmosphere, food and service. The merchandise shop is a must! The merchandise manager Alessandra is friendly and provides exceptional service. I will certainly return because of her hospitality.
Great for dinner or a mid ski break! Don't sleep on the nachos. Best ever, seriously. The whole vibe was fun from the food, the music, to the decor. Don't forget to stop at the gift shop below before you leave.
Food and armosphere was great! Server, Dragan, did well though he clearly had a lot to take care of. He was personable, took time and very engaged in making it a great evening. Kudos to Dragan and the kitchen!
Hadn't been here in many years. Was nice to take the boys here apres ski. Even for a Tuesday in February, with no new snow, the place was packed. We got a seat upstairs and Poe was our server. The nachos are on point here wow. Maybe better than Grande Targhee? Beers were tasty and cold too. Great value.
Everything about our experience at the Mangy Moose was excellent! We came on a busy night during the holiday season, but our service was amazing and the food was so delicious! Definitely recommend the Chef's Steak Special, and we would for sure go back next time we're in town.
The Mangy Moose has maybe four separate areas where to eat. We were in the location with a bar and sat upstairs. We visited after skiing. Transparency - I didn't think the food was great, but the lady and yute really enjoyed the meal. Started with iced tea and lemon, free refills. Made very well. Next the fried pickles. They were hard nuggets and I could only taste the fried outside. The lady and yute said "the fried pickles were the best they every had!" What a contrast. We had a couple game chili bowls. I found the chili to be basic meat and chili powder. The lady really liked the chili. The yute had a firebuger that he really liked. We shared a chopped salad that was wilted and not flavorful. Everyone agreed on the salad. The service (lady for carolina) was very good. The atmosphere was fun. The views were good too. Fun place to eat, but a standard off the slopes kind of food. For the family, rating a 4, but I would give it a 3. DrB DIY @ youtube
All of the food was delicious. I ordered the chili and huckleberry cosmo, and my husband and brother-in-law ordered the ribs. Everything was delicious, and our server was very polite, prompt, and helpful. It was a very nice dinner.
The atmosphere is great, especially to relax outside. I did like the dry rub wings, but not the veggie pizza/flatbread. The mangy moose burger was good and dense so be prepared to be full. Our service was decent, but nothing great. I do recommend this place when in Jackson Hole because of its beautiful location.
The service was amazing. Very attentive and on point. As far as food, the wings were burnt. There were a couple not so burnt and those were amazing. The flatbread wasn't very tasty. I was hoping for more. We had the zucchini and olive with pine nuts. We ate the toppings but the tomato sauce tasted like tomato paste and no flavor with a dough that was tough. The burger was really large and cooked perfectly and tasted amazing.
Been here a few times. Food is good...a little over priced, but it's in Teton Village where everything is overpriced. The waitresses were very nice...though one had a skirt on so short not much was left to the imagination. The decor is unique and the view is great! Also, I recommend the nachos! I did no meat, which I never do, and they were amazing!
4.5 ⭐ Stopped by for a bit of nostalgia... My dad dined here in 1976 and I had to see! Love the decor and vibe. Our food was really tasty and server was wonderful! I think the Wild Salmon was the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside and tender and moist inside. I swapped cous cous for fries and I think I might have to petition that this be a permanent combo. Started with the bison carpaccio and finished with the creme brulee. Everything was so tasty but a handful of the blueberries on my dessert were moldy (and thus the dig on the food). Otherwise, it was a great meal. Perfect after a day filled with hiking and watersports.
Mangy moose is a must visit spot. We came on our 1st night in Teton village and it was a great choice with tired kids. The service was great and food was good too. The Elk stroganoff could have used more spice- but was still good. The hamburgers were great- with good kid portions too.
Stopped in the saloon a beer after riding the aerial tram at JH Mountain Resort. Nice selection of very cold beer. We didn’t eat this time around, but we heard it’s a good stop for food, as well. The smell of the restaurant was a little off-putting, but not enough to deter us from returning.
Seems like the place to be after a hard day on the slopes! Menu is bar food style with a twist as they do serve Elk and Bison which are really great. It’s hard to get a table at peak times, the wait staff is very attentive but you have to grab them and get their attention. Beers are cold and hit the spot, food comes out very quick. As others mentioned there is a 20% minimum gratuity.
Pleasant late dine experience after a tiring day in the Tetons (kitchen was open until 9.30pm). Friendly staff and quick turnaround. The Moose salad was fine (good size, good taste, but not exceptional). The fried tomato was a nice surprise, and the sauce was really good!
It didn’t blow us away but it was good for what it is. They have a good spicy Margarita. The building is pretty. They did cancel our reservation due to a private party so we only got to see the Saloon side.
Stopped at Mangy Moose after a long hike in Teton Park hoping for a hearty meal, but it was a letdown. We ordered the nachos, Yoder chopped salad, and ribs. The nachos were massive and had decent flavor, but they were pretty dry—definitely needed more cheese. The Yoder salad was essentially a basic cabbage mix with barely a few bits of kale, and the overly sweet dressing tasted like something from a bottle, not house-made. The ribs were the biggest disappointment—undercooked, lacking flavor, and only somewhat edible after asking for extra BBQ sauce. Service was just okay, with long delays on everything. This felt like one of those typical spots in a ski/hiking village that knows tourists have few dining options and doesn’t put much effort into food or service. Overall, not recommended.
Great vibe and atmosphere but service is extremely slow. Came in on a Tuesday, lots of empty tables. Waitress was friendly, enjoyed the vibe, live music and beautiful views of mountain. Steaks were serve very rare, not to our desired taste. Food was also cold and took close to an hour to get... not what you would expect with a $300 tab for party of 4.
Taxidermy: 5 Stars. Everything Else? Mangy at Best. Long story short: If you're into taxidermy, tension, and pretzels-Mangy Moose delivers. Just don’t come hungry or expect your burger how you ordered it or prompt service. The "soft" pretzel was anything but. More like petrified parchment twisted into disappointment. Don't bother requesting your burger a certain way-well-done is apparently the chef's one and only option. Proper Pig Flatbread pizza? The only thing proper was the audacity to charge for it. It came out flat, bland, and overpriced—like a disappointing date. Also, don’t buy the message on their website (missing word is their verbatim message) “DELICIOUS, HEARTY, AND FAMILY-FRIENDLY”, “We keep our dinner menu affordable so your can enjoy our eclectic dining room without breaking the bank!” 9 adults, 3 kids (ages 11, 6 & 5) our bill was $405.28. Our server was not easily found during our visit, so forget about getting refills or having unused dishes cleared. And whatever you do, do not try to help by bussing the table yourself. When we brought dishes to the bar-because we actually needed the space for our group-we were met with a snippy, "Sure, just set it up here since she's not already busy enough. Leave it on the table-we'll take care of it for you.” ...Except they didn't. That was kind of the whole problem. Oh, and just before the check comes-not when you're ordering-the server casually drops that they don't split checks. This should really, REALLY be printed in plain sight at all establishments that have this practice. Do with this information what you will…hopefully you have a better experience and ours was an anomaly. Pro tip: Skip the upstairs Mangy Moose mess. Head to the first floor “Mangy Moose Cafe”—smaller menu, better experience, and actually worth every penny.
There are highs and lows of every restaurant, but this was hilarious in sad way. It's longer than my usual reviews as this is a warning for others. We found seats upstairs (opens at noon) and at 2pm on a Sat or was packed. No worries... We found seats and looked forward to the "famous" nachos. Drinks came quickly. We waited to order food, and waited. Eventually I flagged down another waitress & then ours comes over. We order the nachos. Our food comes... without the guac. The first thing she said when I pointed it out was, "Well, I can run downstairs to get it, but it will take me 20 minutes." What?!? Ok.... The guac arrives in 5 min. Great! Not sure where $9 of carnitas was, but there were some. I'm not going to complain as I'm hungry. Waitress comes by in 10 & we order another drink. We wait. We wait. She comes by 20+ min later and asks if we're ready for the bill. I explain that the drinks never arrived, and she says, "Oh, I didn't hear that." Yes, she did, but ok. We decide to go. At this point I'm at a 4* review... But 1. she comes back with a pitcher of water & glasses and states that the people standing behind us are waiting for the table (we still didn't have the bill). So we're sitting there awkwardly with people staring down our backs. 2. We get the bill and hand her cash. She comes back with $40 and explains that our bill was $59 and change, so she just kept the change (?!?). 3. My husband is trying to give her a tip, and she grabs the money out of his hand while he's counting it, letting $ fall to the floor, explains, "Oh, it was just a dollar that fell down there." and walks off! Ends up she grabbed a $15++ tip after I got on my hands and knees to find the cash on the floor (you have to realize there is a ton of ski gear everywhere, and money had floated down to the next level). Oh, and when we looked at the bill, they charged an extra $4.50 for an ice cube for his $15 Basil bourbon. So buyer beware...the ice cube is not on their menu as an upcharge. I understand it's busy, but I have never had such service in my life. I will *never* go back there. Period.
Mangy Moose breakfast cafe had decent breakfast sandwiches (7/10) however, the açaí bowls were both soupy and disappointing (2/10). The latte and hot chocolate were less than ideal (1/10). Would not recommend for breakfast. Mangy Moose restaurant for dinner was quite nice and this review does not apply to the main restaurant.
As a local, this experience was beyond disappointing. We arrived in good faith expecting the usual Mangy Moose hospitality, only to be pushed out by our server starting at 9:13 PM…even though the restaurant is listed as closing at 11:00 PM. When we asked about it, the manager on site was extremely rude, insisting they closed at 10:25 PM and that they “never stay open until 11.” Meanwhile, a massive out-of-town wedding party was still at the bar getting tossed. We’ve supported this place many times over the years, but this treatment left a really sour taste. Locals keep this place alive year-round, it’s disheartening to feel so unwelcome in our own community. Well done Mangy Moose…just another example of the pure, disillusioned ignorance in how the people who work and live in this county are treated. We left the situation, went to different establishment to enjoy the rest of the evening…we arrived to the new place and as I sat down, I opened the “Jackson Daily” AND ironically there is currently an opening for a restaurant & saloon manager. Maybe I can convince my 15 yr old to apply because it would be developmentally same level of consciousness.
This place might look good on the surface, but the so-called “manager” (glasses, attitude, zero professionalism) was an absolute joke. A large (roughly 8 people) , polite party came in and explained their situation and offered to be split up between tables of needed. Instead of handling it with any ounce of customer service, she rudely grabbed the tablet from the host, rolled her eyes, and snapped, “This is why we do reservations.” Note: The website clearly says a reservation is not required..She first told them 15 minutes, then later lied and said 1 hour-pretending she never said 15. Everyone standing there heard it. Instead of fixing the problem, she smirked like it was funny. There were empty tables everywhere, but this “manager” clearly didn’t care. She’s not qualified to run a lemonade stand, let alone a restaurant. Watching how she treated paying customers was embarrassing, and we left too. If this is the level of management they allow here, don’t waste your time. Completely unprofessional, rude, and unfit for the job. Do better. And if that lady sees this- Sweetheart, Nobody cares how much you’re paid as the “manager”. Clearly you’re in the industry for the wrong reason..you probably shouldn’t boast about it like you did, acting like you were above everyone else in the building-everyone heard/seen that too..so unprofessional! I understand everyone has their bad days, but your attitude was just uncalled for…
Terrible service. 2 meals came out 30 min before the others. The first two were cold. Actually the other food hasn’t even came out yet. It was 30 min ago at this point. Would have already left if everyone had at and there was somewhere else to get food quickly. Went to million dollar cowboy bar last night! That place was awesome. Very very disappointed in this mangy moose place. Had good reviews I just think everyone is drunk already and don’t know it. This is absolutely one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Very disappointed!
Strangest experience I've had in many years. Ordered my first round of drinks at the Bar and opened a tab. While at the bar the waitress makes the Bartender cash me out (not allowing my tab to be opened). Then the waitress proceeds to provide NO service to my table. Worst service I have had in probably a decade. Most unwelcoming. Would strongly recommend avoiding. Super disapointing.
I ordered the dish described on the menu as a “half chicken” for $32 and was served two very small pieces of chicken. At first, I thought maybe it was a thigh and a deboned drumstick, so I mentioned it to the waiter, assuming it might have been a simple mistake. Instead, the chef and several other staff members came to the table. The chef stood over me, with one hand on the back of my chair and the other on the table, and said, “I hear you have a problem with the food.” I explained that I was only surprised by the portion size and had expected more given that it was described as a half chicken and priced at $32. He then explained, in a very abrasive way, that what we thought was a thigh was actually a breast, and what we thought was a drumstick was the thigh and drumstick together(?) The entire interaction was extremely uncomfortable. Everyone in the restaurant was staring, and he was leaning so far over me and pointing so closely to my plate that the people dining with me thought he was touching the food. I tried to explain that I had simply asked the waiter a question, but I was so shocked by the confrontation that I didn’t know what to say. Unfortunately, the chef then used the situation to berate the waiter, who was wonderful and did nothing wrong. I would have much preferred the waiter explain the dish rather than having the chef embarrass all of us. Before this incident, we were having a great time, and the portion size alone would not have bothered us. But the interaction was so uncomfortable that we just wanted to leave — we even skipped dessert, which is very unlike us. We all left feeling genuinely uncomfortable and I regret not speaking up more to defend the waiter.
Well, giving you one star after your amazing reply. FYI: Service was good. Waiter did great serving us. Lack of anything good on New Year’s Eve is your sad atmosphere. Learn the difference. Average food. Nothing great. Your live music concert - was very very lame. So I’m giving you, mister, ONE STAR for your lack of management and communication skills. Good luck
