My husband and I decided to go there for a late birthday dinner for him and it was amazing!! Our server Lisa, was great. Her demeanor and attitude were awesome and she's hilarious as well. The food was soooo good and the meat just melted in your mouth. Super tender and the sides were also good. We had a great time and will definitely be going back.

Went to dinner with my boys for my youngest 16th birthday. He got the tomahawk steak, it was a perfect medium rare, and delicious. The other got the 8oz snake river filet the was also perfect. I got the Wagyu Experience, the American and Australia Wagyu were some of the best steak cuts I have ever had BUT the A-5 Japanese was 20 times then both of them. It was the best piece of steak I have ever had. The sides were all phenomenal as well. Some of the best rissotto and whipped mashed potatoes!!!! Issac did an excellent job as well.

5-Star Review: An Unforgettable Evening at Stock Hill Stock Hill in Kansas City is the epitome of a modern steakhouse done right—elegant yet approachable, with an atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and warmth. From the moment we stepped into the beautifully appointed space just south of the Country Club Plaza, we knew we were in for a special night. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the tomahawk steak, a massive, perfectly marbled ribeye that arrived at the table looking like a work of art. Cooked to absolute perfection—medium-rare with a gorgeous crust and juicy, tender interior—it was one of the best steaks we’ve ever had. The flavor was rich and beefy, sourced from top Midwest ranches as promised. The appetizers and sides were equally outstanding: creative, elevated takes on classics that complemented the main event beautifully. Everything was executed with precision and imagination. What truly elevated the experience to memorable heights was our server, Gary. Attentive without being intrusive, he delivered exceptional service with genuine warmth and a constant smile. He encouraged us to ask any questions about the menu, offered spot-on recommendations, and was always prompt, making us feel like valued guests throughout the evening. Stock Hill isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. If you’re in Kansas City and craving a world-class steak dinner with impeccable service, this is the place. We’ll be back soon!

We took my brother and his wife for KC Restaurant Week. Most of our food was delicious. My wife and I had been before and had the Wagyu Experience and it was excellent! I’ll add comments under the photos. Note: For the first time since I have stopped drinking alcohol, the waiter embarrassed me and I felt belittled me with his comment. Everyone else at our table ordered an alcoholic beverage. I ordered ice tea with Splenda. He said, “Would you like me to go to McDonalds to get that?” I was not laughing. The service was good overall, but my rating is reflecting the comment from the waiter.

Super venue for my special occasion, a friend's birthday. I delighted myself with the Wagyu Experience. The side dishes are heaped, each of the sides we ordered (gnocchi & Yukon potatoes) held enough for 3 servings. So, yes, I had some yummy take-away for later.

Excellent restaurant! Our server, James, had a wonderful table presence. He made our party of ten feel very welcome and ensured order accuracy. The additional support staff ensured our needs were met. Food was top notch! All around amazing experience!

Upscale steak joint with fancy steak prices, but a pretty robust menu. I had the lobster bones appetizer and it was fantastic, very rich. Some of the custom cocktails are outstanding too! Staff was friendly, decor is steakhouse modern. Usually pretty busy so reservations really recommended.

Went here as a solo diner on Christmas. Place was absolutely packed. I wasn’t sure how the service or food would be considering it was Christmas but wow. Both were absolutely amazing. Service was friendly and personable but never intrusive. I had the raw oysters, and the ribeye steak with a side of horseradish crème. Both were great. Steak may have been the best i have ever had. I ate the entire thing. I wish i had the opportunity to try more but didn’t want to spend too much on a solo dinner. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect as well. Perfectly dim, and nice decor. 5/5 experience.

Beautiful restaurant. Had a wonderful experience spending Thanksgiving here. The staff was amazing and the service was timely. I was glad they offered their regular menu in addition to a holiday special. My husband had the Thanksgiving special and I had crabcakes. We wrapped it up with the pumpkin creme brule!

High end steak House. There American steaks are superb. We're had a ribeye which was perfect. Medium rare with marrow butter. The super premium steaks, wagu, Australian, all looked magical. Triple fried fries were perfect. Really great cocktails. Wait staff was awesome, I could barely get a sup of water before I had a refill. Great recommendations from the staff. 2 servers per table. A little live music in the bar. Great location, near the street car if you care to walk. Expensive, but worth every penny.

Absolutely delicious and amazing service ! I’ve been here a long time ago but it’s better than ever. The service was spot on and so attentive. The food was presented well and unique. Had the shrimp cocktails with delicious cocktail sauce. Enjoyed the wedge salad and the beet salad, both delicious. The halibut was unique and flavorful. The Delmonico steak was flavorful but super tender. The dessert 🍨 bread pudding and Carmel ice creams incredible. Great ambience and perfect date spot.

Hotel like atmosphere with an elegant bar, huge ceilings/windows, comfy seating, and fantastic cocktails. Probably one of the best bars I’ve been to in Kansas City when it comes to service and the vibe. It’s also nice that it’s out of the hustle and bustle of the main plaza area.

Had dinner with colleagues. Steak was delicious, service swift and friendly. Cocktails were also good.

We had our company Christmas dinner at Stock Hill in their semi-private room. We had the most knowledgeable attendant Anna take care of us all night long with so many great helpers. Anna made great wine and drink suggestions as well as appetizers and how much of everything we would need. She knew her menu and answered all questions with ease. The food was amazing. We tried a wide variety from "The Experience" to a basic strip and fries. We also had a great experience making our reservations and working with Gabi. She made it all go so smoothly and was so easy to work with. She was VERY accommodating. We would definitely go back and highly recommend everything about this restaurant

Went for my mom’s birthday. We were treated very well, service was prompt, food was insanely good! I have celiac disease and was able to order a vast variety of food and sides that were gluten free which is great! The server was very knowledgeable on the dishes on the menu and made sure to communicate my restrictions to the kitchen. I felt very taken care of and safe! I wish there were more dessert options than ice cream that were gluten free, but for the rest of the meal, it was fantastic and will absolutely be dining here again and hyping this place up to friends and family.

I came here for a friend’s birthday party. Our servers were super professional! The food was fantastic. I had a margarita and a dirty martini. Met my expectations! I do recommend the wagyu experience. Note that you can either get rare or medium rare. Mostly likely because you have to enjoy the fat, or marble, in the steak. You lose that flavor if you cook it more. It has great value considering each steak on their own would be 100+ dollars. However, the service fell a little short in a crucial detail: they gave us the option between soup and salad as a side. We didn’t know until we got the check that either option was 15 dollars. I think this should’ve been communicated to us. The way the server asked us gave us the impression that it was a free addition like other restaurants. First timers should go in prepared to ask if these sides are an additional charge or skip the option entirely. And staff should be clear on what’s being charged so customers can make an informed decision with their budget. The cheddar and broccoli soup was great FTW.

A few hiccups occurred on my solo date night and thats why one star was removed. Sat down and immediately noticed a random bug in my water.. I ordered my ribeye medium and it was served to me, well done. when I cut into the steak to show my server she immediately agree, took it back and returned with a beautifully cooked and super tasty medium steak. not sure what happened with the first steak. espresso cocktails were super tasty! one thing to note, for other solo diners ask for a window view.

I’m honestly a bit confused overall because of the ratings by so many other people. My only conclusion can be is that there are too many reviewers who have spent little time on the east coast, in Chicago or Vegas or similar. Let’s start with the good. The atmosphere is beautiful. Triple high ceilings. Nice entrance with a great wrap around bar. Big TV in the lounge area to watch a game and plenty of options at the bar. Decor and setup were spot on. The staff were also excellent. The hostess at the front desk was funny and engaging. Waitress and additional staff were attentive clearing plates, refilling drinks and generally just taking care of us. I asked to speak to the Sommelier about a recommendation. She came over very quickly and made a great recommendation. She was what I would call selectively warm which was overall fine but found a bit odd and although she made a great recommendation she never returned to check on us, pour more glasses or try to sell us more wine which is atypical for that style place. Now, the food. While the food was certainly adequate, there were items that were below par for that style restaurant. We had a seafood “tower”, gnocchi and meatball/shrimp in red sauce as an appetizer. Seafood tower was fresh but was not a tower and the “pay per person” kind of renders you to not understand the amount you will get per person. Seafood was food, expiation was not. The meatball and shrimp were excellent overall. The main course most got some sort or steak and we got sides for the table. I got a 14 oz ribeye. The ribeye was very thin and while it may have been 14 oz, it was poorly cut. Second, it was done medium rare as k asked for but the outside was charred to hell and had the taste was overpowered by what was obviously uncleaned grill plates/carbon build up. The was no salt, butter or other seasoning to bring the meat. The price was fair the cut was quite poor. The sides were for were the fries, mashed potatoes, brussel spouts and risotto. They were all adequate but much like the steak they were very bland and under seasoned. They did have an elote street corn that was perfect but it was overshadowed by the other sides not being great. One mashed potatoes and risotto specifically missed the spot bad. Others had dessert and they liked it. No real complaints there. I would come back but I’d have to be a little more selective and speak up in the misses. While it wasn’t nearly that bad, for the price and ambiance being so good the food did miss the spot and if you put this against NYC steakhouses, they likely wouldn’t survive. So many things going right but the fine details of the food are missing.

Service was amazing! Atmosphere was great. Welcoming and elegant. Food was sub-par. Bone marrow very poor. It’s supposed to be rich but this was acidic. Salad lettuce was browning. Risotto almost crunchy. Steak was ok but overall lacking in that melt in your mouth delicious flavor you would have expected to find in a quality steakhouse. Drinks were pretty good but again service and style were great. Food could have been way better and you will find better elsewhere.

My family hosted our Thanksgiving celebration in the private dining room at Stock Hill the Friday after the holiday. We typically spend Thanksgiving at The Capital Grille but decided to try Stock Hill this year because the space better accommodated our large group. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I don’t believe we will return. While the food was excellent, the service fell noticeably short of what we expect from a restaurant of this caliber. From the beginning, our main server seemed rushed, asking for appetizer orders before we had even had a moment to settle in or look at the menu. We also had to prompt her to take cocktail orders, and her demeanor throughout the evening felt more impatient than welcoming. A number of small but important details were overlooked as well—such as pre-splitting shared dishes and providing additional plates or utensils without us having to ask. These are the kinds of thoughtful touches that typically elevate a dining experience, especially in a private room setting. Additionally, the servers’ conversations and gossip within our dining space came across as unprofessional and added to the overall sense that the service level simply wasn’t where it should be. We truly wanted to enjoy our evening at Stock Hill, but the service did not match the quality of the food or the standard we’re accustomed to at comparable steakhouses. Based on our experience, I would recommend considering Eddie V’s or The Capital Grille instead—both offer great food paired with a much more polished, attentive dining experience.
