This food was incredible. The only thing I am not a new fan for is their Cole slaw, but i am very picky when it comes to that. That fried squash is the best I have ever had. It was perfect from the thickness of the cut, the perfection of the seasoning, to the consistency once fried. The blackened shrimp was excellent! The staff was fantastic. It was Very full in here, but they floated around eith ease taking care of everyone with the same amount of attention and care. What a wonderful experience they've given me today.
The food was well seasoned. I forgot to take a pic of the fried squash and mushrooms and the delicious cheesecake that I can’t stop thinking about! I coming back for the whole cheesecake!
I just popped in for a quick bite and was told the pecan pie was homemade. My server was very pleasant and helpful. I'm definitely returning and bringing my wife. For the record, I purchased a piece of pie for her too. It just wouldn't be right for me to describe how much I enjoyed my pie and not bring her a piece. This was THE BEST TASTING PECAN PIE I have had in all my 69 years of living! No exaggeration!
Passing through town and love a good authentic diner. So we thought we would give Steffens a try. Well service was great, our server brook was on top of it. As soon as my wife tried her potatoes plate called “traffic jam” she started looking for property here! I had country fried steak, cheesy grits and biscuits. Nothing disappointed! Ten out of ten would recommend!
An old-fashioned diner that lives up to the genre. The service is warm and friendly, the atmosphere is definitely diner, and the food is well-done southern comfort. It's cheaper than Cracker Barrel or IHOP and the food is twice as good. We had country fried steak and eggs, pancakes, and an egg breakfast. Portions are large and every item was fresh and delicious. The biscuits were delightful and fluffy. Eggs were cooked to order correctly. Pancakes were huge and fluffy. It makes sense that the parking lot was full when we arrived.
I placed an order through Doordash for Steak tips, eggs, and home fries. I must say that this was THE BEST breakfast I've had while traveling. The steak was cooked to perfection and the customized home fries were great. They even cooked my over medium eggs correctly. Next time, I hope to stop in at the actual restaurant. Keep up the good work!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let me tell you, I came here on my way back from Jersey. GREAT CHOICE best banana pudding + mashed potato’s ever !! Beef tips so extremely delicious, perfect! Chicken amazing. If you think about going, don’t think, go now !
Well worth the drive from Brunswick. While visiting family had enough time to go here. And oh man I’m loving it. Everything I mean everything looks and is delicious! Mother in law can’t get away from the French toast and I the steak bits eggs and toast. Next time something new. Bet that. Make a visit order anything your gonna love it.
Great food especially for the price. Liked so well on our overnight stay to Florida that we came again on way back. A local favorite for obvious reasons. Wish they had beer as a weary traveler and the tap water everywhere in Kingsland is ew but will always patronize when here. Fried green tomatoes and chicken livers generous portions, collards great!
If you’re anywhere near the area, Steffens is a must stop. Delicious food, excellent service and a fun atmosphere all equate to a wonderful dining experience. The prices were fair, and the portions were large. It’s all very tasty, so the restaurant is always busy, don’t be surprised if you have to wait a few minutes to be seated, but it well worth the wait.
Driving through Kingsland, we were recommended by a local about this restaurant. Pleasantly surprised by the warmth and comfortable atmosphere. The place was full packed on a Monday afternoon. Sat at the counter I ordered 3 pieces whole catfish. It came with 2 sides with biscuits or cornbread costs $22. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. The portion is generous. We will definitely eat there again!
A recommended stop for us for a taste of home cooking, and we were not disappointed. While traveling south to visit friends and family over Thanksgiving, our hotel recommended Steffens Restaurant. The atmosphere reminded the two of us of a north country diner. The staff and service were great and we will return when traveling south in the future. Do not miss out on Steffens!
Haven’t been up there in a little bit, but last time I went out and all the friends I have that eat their lately have said the same thing the food was great. It’s homestyle food and it’s very good food. The service is great. The waitress was funny and timely. Leaving a good tip is easy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant locally it’s known as being the old 1950s diner that has been remodeled but maintained and it’s 1950s look and a lot of the features of the restaurant still exist. It’s a great place.
This place is a must go when in the area! So many things to choose from... we tried the beef liver with onions and the Gator bites. Both were amazing. Portions were fulfilling and very tasty. The squash casserole was great. The baked beans very tasty too but I did not eat them because I thought they would be a bit sweet and they were not.. my husband said they were really good. We also had a creme Brulee cheesecake that I loved bcs it was the perfect sweet but my husband said it tasted like oatmeal a bit.. I really liked it!!! Their cornbread is amazing.. everything was great. Service was attentive despite it being full. We would definitely come back if we are in the area!
Yelp Review: Hidden Gem Country Diner ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My husband and I stumbled upon this little country diner, and what a delightful surprise it was! Established in 1948, this quaint spot exudes charm from the moment you step through the door. We were lucky to get a table shortly after arriving, and the friendly service made us feel right at home. I ordered Steffen’s Benedict, which featured real country ham, eggs, smothered in rich peopered sausage gravy, topped with crispy fried green tomatoes. Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors! My husband enjoyed home fries with sausage and biscuits and gravy, which he loved just as much. The biscuits were soft and fluffy, a comforting classic. The atmosphere felt so hometown, with the warmth of friendly conversations all around and the enticing aroma of delicious food. We had to take some dessert home for later ! If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on this hidden gem. We’ll definitely be back for more of their comforting dishes!
We stopped in Kingsland just for the night at the nearby RV Self-Park, coming from NY. We wanted to find something more local than the chains and fast-food on the highway, so we drove a bit and found Stefan’s and I’m so glad we did. The regional cuisine is served with the famed Southern hospitality, everyone was very pleasant and welcoming. They source much of the menu locally, so the food is fresh and is prepared daily in their kitchen. The prices are very fair and reasonable. Pictured are gator bites (sourced locally) that we were excited to try, and my meal which was only $9.50 with the option to add more pork chops and was served with 2 biscuits (that were excellent!). A very fun, local spot. Would certainly stop again to try more of their menu.
Always looking for a great local diner since we pass Kingsland once or twice a month and this off the beaten path restaurant is a hidden gem. Looks popular with the locals and we'll be back to try more of their delicious food. I had the flounder dinner and hubby had the seafood dinner with blackened shrimp and fried flounder. They have plenty of delicious desserts and homemade ice cream which we couldn't resist. Everything is made from scratch and the service is great.---update came back on our next trip and tried the chicken Philly with fries and hubby had the fried chicken dinner which was done to perfection. We shared a banana split that was amazing and can't wait to come back on our next trip.
Very good food for the price, we had fried catfish, cheese grits, cheese steak sandwich, potato salad and chicken tenders with biscuits. Everything was delicious and we didn't have to wait to be seated. The only complaint is the temperature; it was very cold where we sat.
No greeters at the door, (although I counted no less than eleven different employess on a Saturday morning) and no sign to seat yourself; so I stood at the door for ten minutes waiting to be acknowledged. There is very little room inside the restaurant. Patrons must, quite literally, sidle along to reach a table or booth. The menu is very large indicating the specialty items may be in question; however the food is good and arrived quite fresh. I ordered New York strip with two eggs over easy, cheese grits, toast, and link sausage. I had a large orange juice to drink upon arrival and lemonade with my main entrees. My server, Brittany, was very friendly and attentive so I tipped her above the indicated amounts. Friendly service will get you everything! All in all, this was a better visit than the last six times I have eaten here; it is always crowded and the food is a local favorite. No complaints on the food but please pay attention to the customers as they enter! I felt ignored until a server asked me was I there for a to-go order.
Dusty and dirty. This restaurant has a ventilation issue. Menu items change from day to day so call before you decide to visit. Server likes "all of it", suggestive sale and recommendations are shot in the foot. Better service the more you come; regulars get superior service and first timers get eyes rolled.
This place was a HUGE DISAPOINTMENT. The positive reviews are from locals that frequent the establishment. If you are from out of town like us, you should eat somewhere else. We stopped at this establishment on Saturday, November 29, at 1:30 PM for lunch. First thing I noticed when I went inside was the place looked like a dump. Everything inside is very dated and worn. After waiting a few minutes, we were greeted by the host and were told there was a 20 minute wait. Probably should have left at that point. But we were traveling back home from Orlando and had come there for the gator which is something we can't get at home. After about 10 minutes, we were seated. The wait was less than we expected. That was the only thing about our visit that wasn't a disappointment. We were given 4 sets of utensils even though we told the hostess we had 5 people. A guy came by to take our drink orders. Apparently, that's all he does as he couldn't take orders for appetizers or bring us utensils. A waitress eventually came by. We ordered the gator bites appetizer and were told they were out. She said they were out of gator tail too. I told her we were from out of town traveling home from Orlando and had come there specifically for the gator. She said we could go somewhere else. But at that point we had already been there for 20 minutes and didn't have time to find something else. Anyway, we placed our orders. The food was delivered in about the normal time I expected it to be. My wife ordered the banana pancakes, my youngest son ordered pancakes, my oldest son ordered the country fried steak, his friend ordered chilli and chicken wings, and I ordered cajon chicken wings. We also ordered the banana split. The food was mostly average. My chicken wings were very subpar. They were delivered warm and were not at all spicy. The banana split was terrible. Way too much chocolate syrup. My oldest son's friend was the only one that liked it so he ate most of it. Also, the bathrooms are unusually elevated. Several of us tripped when using the restroom because of the quick, sharp incline in the floor. And the restrooms were NOT clean. Do yourself a favor and go either before or after you stop there if you are crazy enough to go. Once we were done, we got the bill. The food is very over priced. We paid and got out of there as quickly as possible. We will definitely NEVER be back. If you're smart, skip this place and eat somewhere else unless you want to be DISSAPPOINTED like we were.
