Top notch from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. Food was amazing, presentation beautiful, staff friendly.
From the attentive staff to the phenomenal food everything was perfect. Drinks and appetizers were awesome. Entrée was piping hot and delicious. Such a great experience will definitely return and recommend.
I loved this place, the service, the food the atmosphere, spectacular everything, the amazing service, the spectacular staff and the fantastic food, and the drink.? you have to vibrate the experience, the presentation of its dishes... super enchanted with everything
Kevin’s a terrific atmosphere every time I’ve been there. I’ve been here several times over the years and have always had an awesome experience. Surprisingly I just haven’t left a review until now but I’ve thought about it. I had a work holiday party at Kevin‘s one year (2019 I think) and it was a terrific time. Just last night I had dinner with my girlfriend and we had an awesome time. She loved her meal, I loved my salmon. Waitresses were extremely on point. Helped us with everything. We’ll be back again and again.
Great meal for my dad’s birthday at Kevin’s last evening! We don’t visit often enough but I’ve never had a bad experience here. Classy place with a great menu, great bar and bartenders that know what they’re doing. All in a cool environment with excellent wait staff. Tequila Roja and Onion Soup shown.
Kevin’s Bar and Restaurant, located on Wyoming avenue in Kingston, Pennsylvania, is a fine dining restaurant and part of the Friedman Hospitality Group, known for providing exquisite dining experienced. We arrived on a Saturday night for our 7 p.m. reservation and were seated immediately. The establishment was at about 90% capacity, and likely exceeded that during our visit. Although the filled tables may have been due to a comedy show at a nearby venue, it is highly recommended to reserve a table at least a day in advance, especially on the weekend. On a side note, Kevin’s also has three areas that accompany private parties, so large groups are welcome. Again, I would definitely make a reservation well in advance. There is also ample parking. Mark, our server, was the epitome of professionalism. He was very personable and amiable, engaging us in conversation every time he came by (he even engaged in a birthday celebration at a nearby table, singing “Happy Birthday” with the group!). He knew the menu very well, and not only did he assist us when choosing our selections, but also told us how to have the dish prepared. For starters, we chose the Pumpkin Butternut Squash Bisque and the All the Onion Soup. The bisque was lightly topped with fried sage and toasted pumpkin seeds. It was very smooth, rich and creamy, and tasted almost like pumpkin pie. The soup consisted of red, Cippollini, yellow and pearl onions as well as leeks and shallots. It also included brioche croutons, Cooper sharp and smoked gouda cheese. Both offerings were extremely delicious. Next came the bone-in pork chop, with apple hot honey glaze, bacon, a potato puree and carrots. The meat was prepared medium-well, and was very tender and juicy. The lady said it was perhaps the best pork chop she ever ate. I chose the steak frites, a dry rubbed Coulette steak, with dollops of tangy steak sauce, french fries, and perfectly prepared asparagus. The steak was prepared medium-rare (as suggested by Mark) and was very savory. Even the french fries were exemplary, golden and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Even though we both felt like we had enough incredible food, we couldn’t leave without making selections from the dessert menu. The French toast french pudding was superb and decadent, with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and drenched in a hot maple syrup. The serving was very generous, and I enjoyed every bite. We had to wait a few minutes for our dessert, because the lady ordered a chocolate chunk cookie with, again, a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. The reason for the slight delay was due to the fact that the cookie dough was freshly baked, served hot, with a crispy top and a gooey middle. Kevin’s fired on all cylinders with this meal, and was perhaps the best meal I had all year. As a member of the Friedman Hospitality Group, this place did not disappoint. Everything was practically flawless. My only recommendation would be to have some kind of sound buffers emplaced. With the establishment at full capacity, the high ceilings made for a cacophonous, surround-sound experience. However, the incredible meal provided the perfect distraction.
Hey All, Ok, so it was our anniversary, and we wanted to try someplace new. So after hearing from our friends how good Kevin's is, we reserved our table and waited for the day to arrive. When we arrived at Kevin's, we were greeted by our hostess and shown to our booth table for 2. Annette was out server for the evening and she was incredibly knowledgeable about most every item that my wife and I inquired about. The House made "everything bagel" bread and plate of seasoned dipping oil, was fantastic. For our appetizers, my wife ordered their house salad and I ordered a bowl of French Onion soup. Both, were absolutely delicious. From there, my wife ordered the Filet Mignon with potatoes and asparagus and I ordered the strip steak, also with potatoes and asparagus. As far as steak goes, this was some of the most tender steak that I've had the pleasure of eating. The truffle butter was very flavorful as well. To say we cleaned our plates, would be an understatement. To drink, I had a beer and she ordered a glass of Moscato. The Moscato was very good....so much in fact, that we had 2 bottles ordered and shipped to our home...(not from Kevin's......from an online place we found that sells that brand) Finally, For dessert, My wife ordered the Creme Brule and I had the French Toast bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side, all sitting in a plate of caramel sauce. The flavors of both desserts were stunning. Each bite left ud wanting to get to the next bite as soon as we could. The service's from the entire staff, were very good and appreciated. We are going back for future date nights, lunches and any other reason we can think of. Our goal is to try everything that they have to offer, for as long as it takes us to do so. I hope this helps you to make the decision to go to Kevin's and give them a shot. I feel that you cannot go wrong here. I know we didn't, for the food we ordered. Have a great day !
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service! We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the new Kevin’s. The new menu had a great variety of options and something for everyone. They also offer vegan and gluten free options, as well as some off menu features. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. Our server, Tracey, was wonderful - she was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and attentive. She really made our experience enjoyable. We will definitely go back to Kevin’s.
Reservations needed, I didn’t know that prior, the manger was able to squeeze us in. The fish was excellent, we had the salmon and wolffish special. The drink were great and the overall experience was wonderful. We will be back again.
An absolute hidden gem. I was blown away by this place. Without a doubt in my top 3 for this area. Expertly crafted cocktails, and masterfully executed food. I went with a large group of some of the best restaurant employees in this area and almost everything was superb. A very cozy atmosphere with warm colors and a soothing floor arrangement this place is a must visit for any foodie around here.
I don't live in the area but stopped by as I was passing through. As hurricane IDA was just starting to come through the north east I was surprised to find their parking lot full and pretty many people dining in. I was at first going to order to go but the atmosphere was great and staff friendly, and I realized this isn't a place I should take my food to go. I needed to eat it there and enjoy it as intended. Their menu had some great choices that included seafood, pasta, veal, chicken and some standard steak dishes. It took me a long time to decide, but I decided on the Strip Steak. While I waited the bartender was very welcoming and I had some good conversations with him as well as the manager on. Again I can't stress enough how welcoming and friendly they were while it not feeling like hey we're just doing our jobs. That is always a major plus especially in today's environment. Now when the meal came out I can honestly say it was perfectly cooked. It was a 12oz strip, very lean on fat but very tender. I had ordered "medium-medium rare". I usually don't order strip steak anywhere because I rarely get it cooked right, but this was absolutely perfect. Lightly charred on the outside, Perfect grill lines and the the meat had about a half inch throughout of darker red rare in the middle and about 2 centimeters of pink tender meat to the edge. Perfect every bite. No need for anything ok top. Very nicely done... So overall I believe this place to be top notch from my solo experience, and if I'm ever in the area again I'll be back.
Love this place! Class act with the food and drink! A few too many onions in French onion soup (yes, I order this many places so I know) but otherwise awesome!
We decided to try Kevin's for Valentine's Day. Everything was delicious! The french onion soup was the best I've ever had. The calamari was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The passion fruit salad was very well balanced - great mix of flavors and textures. For entrees, I ordered the maple glazed duck and my boyfriend ordered the ribeye with bleu cheese and balsamic glaze. They were both fantastic! Cooked to perfection. For dessert, we shared the chocolate covered strawberries which were paired with chocolate cherry truffles. Beautiful presentation and very good. I recommend giving this place a try if you enjoy fine dining.
My husband and our two children ate here last night after a recommendation from a friend. It was fantastic! The food was unbelievable. Even our 7 year old said it was the best macaroni and cheese he’s ever had 😄 The staff were attentive and very friendly. We will be back the next time we’re in the area!
Delicious food and great service.
First time at this restaurant and I already look forward to coming back. The decor and atmosphere is wonderful and the food was as good as I'd hoped. Staff was attentive and never felt too intrusive. Highly recommend.
This is a quality restaurant, Their menu is pretty limited (hence 4 stars), but everything we tried was delicious. Would recommend!!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. The food was absolutely fantastic!
I had the ribeye and my fiancé had the duck. The food was absolutely amazing. We had never been at Kevin’s before but we will definitely make it a point to go more often. Not only was the food and drinks fabulous but our server Jenn, was very knowledgeable about the menu and she was one of the best servers we’d had in a very long time. We will definitely come back. Thank you for the great experience.
Everything was excellent! Food was amazing and cooked just right! Very happy with our visit tonight.
The place for steaks 🥩 Hands down!
Excellent food!!! Good service, very polite. Me and my wife will definitely come back!!!
Delicious and refreshing especially for the Wilkes Barre area. Cocktails are great too. Great for a night out with someone special.
Really nice place. Service was spot on and the food was excellent.
The atmosphere is inviting service was wonderful and the food absolutely amazing. Cant wait to come back and try more of the menu.
What a great restaurant! Excellent food and our server Katie was wonderful! Definitely will be back!
Went for a night out with my husband. The drinks were absolutely delicious! The calamari— amazing! My husband got the shrimp and scallop sambuca… soooo many large scallops! I got the pork chop. I was hesitant to order it because every time I have ordered that anywhere else it has been so dry. This was the opposite of dry. It was juicy and tender— even better than any steak I’ve had!!! Can’t wait to go back and get it again!
I have not been to Kevin's to personally dine but a company I work with recently had a party there and all I have to say is WOW! The food, the establishment, the employees are incredible. Fantastic establishment in the Wyoming Valley. Everything was amazing. The staff was friendly and accomodating and happily made me a mocktail. I had a great time and cannot wait to come back to dine myself!
Do not skip out on the table side caesar salad! Wonderful place all around!
I would give them 12 stars on a scale of 10. From the New England Clam Chowder to the pumpkin cheesecake, it was a fantastic meal. The main course was fantastic, and not just mine. You can order what ever you want and you'll love it.
This weekend was my first visit to Kevin's, but it won't be my last. From the atmosphere, to the cocktails, to the entrees and dessert, everything about this place is a cut above the rest for restaurants in our area. If you want a great night out and an excellent dining experience, be sure to check out Kevin's.
Come here a few times a year for business, and a few for dinner with friends. Not one off experience in years. Food is great, staff is great, atmosphere is ideal. Guaranteed positive.
My Fiancé and I celebrated Valentine's Day here. It was PHENOMENAL. Their Cheese Rangoons were to die for! The drinks were delicious and the staff was so pleasant. We live all the way in Stroudsburg and we can't wait to go back. So worth the drive.
Such a great experience. We had the best time celebrating a birthday with fantastic food great drinks and fantastic service i cant wait to go back!
We had a great time with friends. One of the best restaurants in the Wyoming Valley.
We hosted a graduation party dinner at Kevin's with 20 people, on the 2nd floor in a room with a full bar and our own bathroom. The manager Jon, and our bartender/waitress Cristin were wonderful. The menu had great variety for our guests, food arrived promptly and was delicious. If you are looking to host a party this is a great venue for it.
I frequent Kevin's and have yet to be disappointed. Food is consistently excellent, drinks are great, staff is attentive and helpful and the atmosphere ties everything together quite nicely. The only drawback I've noticed would be the lack of good parking on busy nights, however they are clearly doing something right to be attracting such a crown on a regular basis. Overall, one of the best experiences in this area at the price point!
My wife picked this place because it was recommended by some friends and it was our anniversary. When we got there (it was a Wednesday evening), it seemed like a nice place. The atmosphere was nice, like a speakeasy bar. We were seated right away and had a nice little booth. Waiter took our order for our drinks and food. I got myself a nice smoked cherry old fashioned, which was really smooth, and my wife got a no-jito (mock mojito). We didn't know we got bread with garlic oil (not sure), which was a neat. Flavor was okay.we started off with the goat cheese wontons, I have to say were very delicious. Fir dinner I ordered the veal and my got the pork chop, veal was also only ok, it was missing flavor and I couldn't put salt because there was none on the table, the pork chop wasn't great either, definitely over salted and my wife didn't want to be rude and send it back. Overall, it was an okay experience, nice people, nice place, the food could be better maybe just caught them on a bad day or something but I'd recommended this place, just not to expect amazing for the price.
The service is excellent and the ambiance is nice. It’s definitely a higher end experience. However after going a couple times we consistently find that for the price the entrees are just pretty good. It tends to lean toward a little under seasoned. The drinks, apps, and desserts have always been the highlight compared to the main entree. I also wish they were more vegetarian friendly. The house dressing, a cashew one, is quite good.
You Need To Know? Arrived with reservations & we were seated immediately. We were offered drinks right away which consisted of Sangria, smoked cherry old fashioned, & a tea. We ordered the black truffle honeywhipped ricotta, French onion soup & the butternut squash bisque. The onion soup came out rather dark & burnt. The whipped ricotta tasted bland, just a bit more seasonings needed. Our meals were the pork chop on the bone, chicken cordon blue & the shrimp & scallops sambuca. The sambuca & pork chop were delicious & very flavorful. Good choices. The chicken was overcooked & very tough for chicken. Also did not include some form of ham for a "cordon blue ". Service was prompt & polite. Now You Know! -TBH
Part of the Freidman's franchise, Kevin's emits a more laid back bistro ambiance. Lots of people go for the steak (recommended) but they also offer pasta dishes and fish. My main takeaway is their food is delicious and well thought out, but the portions don't match the pricing. Otherwise, the service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is nice for a date night or friendly gathering. I don't think I'm coming back for a while. 7.5/10 for food (including portion) 9/10 for the service
I'll be honest - we went to Kevin's several times years ago when we lived very close and we liked it - we went there more recently and as an avid fire and ice goer I wasnt super impressed with the food for the price you pay. We got french onion soup which was alright but definitely wouldn't get again. My husband got the filet And I got the duck. Both were 6/10. Nothing was terrible by any means - but when you go to a more expensive restaurant I figure you get what you pay for. On a side note our waiter was awesome and the sweetest guy!
Unfortunately, this was a disappointing time. 3 of 4 meals were bland, and the other was OK. I was excited to visit this spot, but now that i did....it was not one I can say I would go back.... That's about it...
I rarely leave a review, but felt the need to do so for this restaurant. We went here because we received a gift certificate for Christmas, and was highly recommended. (Not sure why?) Therefore, we had high hopes for this place. We eat out often and have tried many many restaurants in NEPA. This place was so disappointing! We ordered two appetizers. The charcuterie board was good, enough for the 2 of us. The prosciutto stuffed mushrooms were very small and had no taste! We also ordered two soups. I ordered the butternut squash (it’s a very small amount and not worth the price) well, it was cold! Yes, it wound up being taken off the bill, but I would’ve preferred a hot BOWL of soup. My fiancé ordered the onion soup, it never came. The waiter said he didn’t hear us order it, though we did place our order very clearly. We ordered 2 entrees, the duck and the chicken orechiette. We ordered the duck cooked medium, it came out fairly rare. Besides that, it was a tiny portion and was $42.00!!!!! The waiter told us that the chicken orechiette was a lot of pasta, not true at all. The taste was good, but another fairly small portion. We almost always take leftovers home, we weren’t able to do that. It just wasn’t enough food, they serve very small portions. My fiancé and I left this restaurant hungry! We initially planned on ordering dessert, which we always do, but after the dinner experience, we passed on the dessert and went over to Amberdonia Bakery just 5 minutes away. Now, that place serves a dessert, delicious and enough for the two of us.
The food is good but there is a very limited menu. Cocktails are good. Service was very slow. It is very loud in the place so hard to carry on a conversation. Overall an okay place but not terrific. There are better restaurants that outshine this one on all accounts.
I never leave reviews but felt the need too after a very long awaited date with my husband last night. I will absolutely say the food was amazing, when we finally got it. But it seemed to us that there was a lot of confusion with staff/kitchen, as we received the bread we were supposed to get upon arriving, after our appetizer. Then we received our salads and entrees at the same time, which wasn’t ideal. The servers and runners didn’t really seem to care about that at all and just shrugged and dropped our food off .Who I assume was the manager did come and comp our drinks for us and apologize, which we appreciated. But we spent over 2 hours there and most of that time felt like waiting, and then trying to rush between our hot food and finishing our salads. Separately, the place gives off this very high class vibe which is gorgeous but they very obviously don’t enforce a dress code with their employees, there was a hostess wearing a skirt so short and tight that we could practically see everything as she was cleaning tables and running around, which truly shocked me. I’ve never seen that at such a seemingly “nice” place. Overall we enjoyed our meal, but the environment and disorganization will definitely be the reason we don’t plan our next child free date night there.
Tiny, crampped restaurant, decor only saved by vintage photographs. Though a vast drink list, unremarkable food. Yet, it was my 1st visit. Doubt I'll return. Courteous staff thankfully.
Haven’t been to Kevin’s in a while, due to a poor experience years ago, but heard it has improved. Wrong. This was a disappointing experience from start to finish. I ordered one of their Signature cocktails (Sun Kissed) and couldn’t even drink it- sour, tart and bitter. Chalked it up to just my preference and ordered a beer. The $11 Clam Chowder, though a tiny portion for the money, was good. Lucky for me! because I didn’t end up eating much else. I ordered the Chicken “Cordon Bleu” which the waitress made a point to clarify, was not your ordinary Cordon Bleu, but “deconstructed chicken breasts with the (insert fancy cheese name) sauce on top. OK. Sounds overly pretentious, but safe enough. Worst. Chicken. Meal. Ever. $28 mind you, I was presented with what tasted like boiled chicken - zero flavor! - cheese sauce, the fingerling potatoes- zero flavor! and wilted ( overcooked) asparagus- you guessed it- with zero flavor. No butter, no seasonings, not even a sprig of parsley!! Awful. My husband got the salmon, said it was “salmon” but he liked the sauce over it. His came with zero seasoned rice & snow peas. Seriously, no butter, oils, specks of flavor of any kind! Fine dining? Atmosphere only, and it appears to be what they’re banking on. The restaurant is beautiful but Kevin’s is going for “bougie” but only gets the BOO from me.
I think they should improve their customer service.. I only called to ask about a reservation, didn't finish speaking, and the employee (or owner, introduced himself as Kevin??) just said they have nothing available for that day and hung up on me. Just wow.. no matter how busy you are, that's just a no-no in any situation. Now I really don't want to ever go there because I'm scared the whole experience will be this.
Do not have a funeral luncheon here! John Lahr seemed very nice and quoted me a cost of $36 per person. The food was good but not fantastic (chicken Marsala, salmon, pasta, potatoes, vege, salad, plain vanilla ice cream). When I went to pay the bill he actually charged $45 per person. He said there was an up-charge for the salmon but never said that when we picked the fish. I would have picked cod or haddock instead. He never said there was an up-charge for gluten free pasta. I only needed 2 meals gluten free for 2 people with celiac disease. He suggested it was easier to do it all gluten free. It was overcooked - mushy. He also said the ice cream was not included though he quoted it in the $36 charge. It is rotten to give a price and then change it after the fact with no discussion. Taking advantage of a grieving family is unconscionable. The staff was nice and they felt really bad. Kevin’s has lost a lot of customers over this. I will never go there or recommend it to any friend or family member again.
