Very nice place great staff and food. Little pricey but the food was worth it. Beer price is a little crazy but overall a great place. We will return for sure. Manny makes the best drinks.
Isabella's did an amazing job for my daughter's wedding. The staff was responsive and so helpful from the first phone call to request the date to the final goodbye at the end of the evening. The food is delicious, the dining room was set up beautifully and the ambiance was perfect. The real show stopper was truly the attentive and very kind staff. They were so very welcoming to us. Despite how busy they were, they never stopped smiling. They were genuinely kind to our party. I cannot give a higher rating or I would! I highly recommend Isabella's if you want great food, friendly staff and a beautiful and enjoyable environment! Thanks again Isabella's!
Came here for lunch. As far as I can tell, this restaurant exhibits high quality cuisine and exceptional service. I got the turkey lunch (an early thanksgiving treat) and the turkey was roasted perfectly, so that it was soft and flavorful. Of course the mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit. Service was superb. The staff was kind and quick. We will be coming back for dinner.
They have a wide selection on their menu! I got the turkey melt sandwich- it was DELICIOUS!! the service was great, very nice atmosphere- family operated… I’m all about supporting family owned businesses! - I definitely would recommend and I will come back again!
First off, I have eaten all over the country and this place easily slipped into my top 10 as far as food, service and overall atmosphere. I will 1000% be visiting this restaurant again. I recommend anyone who lives in the area (or even outside the area) to visit this amazing place at some point. Could not be more please with the entire experience.
Isabella Restaurant and bar, located on Route 315 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania is a fine dining establishment specializing in Italian cuisine. Connected to a fitness center and neighboring a Dunkin’, it may be easy to miss, but once you dine there, you'll never forget it. We arrived on time for our 6:30 p.m. reservation on a Saturday, and were mildly surprised that not many tables were occupied. The host warmly greeted us immediately, and guided us to our seat, lit by a lamp placed squarely in the middle of the table. After ordering our wine, our delightful server took our orders before returning with several rolls that came directly from the oven. For starters, we ordered a meat and cheese charcuterie with smoked provolone, prosciutto-covered orange slices, soppressata-covered grapes, olives, pistachios, walnuts, and a savory jam. The board was pleasantly prepared, and was an outstanding start to the evening. As soon as we finished, our entrees arrived. The Veal Milanese consisted of a breaded veal cutlet covered with lemon slices, with a side of crisp arugula, cherry tomatoes, red onion, shaved parmesan, all lightly flavored with a lemon vinaigrette. The dish was incredible. I combined every bite with the side, and enjoyed every citrus-infused morsel. The eggplant parmesan was equally tasty. The tomato sauce was rich, the breaded eggplant flavorful, and the side of rigatoni was served al dente. The eggplant dish featured a cooked spaghetti garnish that looked…petrified? Baked? Fried? Nevertheless it was hard and leaned against the eggplant. Although we probably shouldn’t have tested the elastic on our waistbands, we couldn’t pass on dessert, given how everything we ate thus far was thoroughly enjoyable. The pecan pie and the chocolate mousse pie was decadent, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a martini glass with strawberry pieces. The mousse sat atop a tart drizzle which was delicious. Isabella’s has been around for 20 years, and is truly a gem. Everything about our meal was perfect. Every dish was extraordinarily presented, and the piano music in the background added to what turned out to be quite a romantic evening. Kudos to the staff for giving us such a wonderful night. Move this place to the top of your restaurant list.
Isabella Restaurant in Wilkes-Barre offers an outstanding dining experience with an impressive menu selection that caters to various tastes. Their lunch options are particularly notable, combining freshness and creativity, as seen in dishes like their expertly crafted sandwiches paired with vibrant salads. The atmosphere is inviting, with a warm and contemporary vibe that makes it perfect for both casual lunches and more formal gatherings. The attention to detail in both the presentation and the flavors makes Isabella a standout choice in the area for anyone looking for a memorable meal.
My girlfriends and I are on a mini vacation in Wilkes Barre PA, and we went to Isabella for dinner. Before going in we decided to take some pictures together. While trying to do a selfie two lovely people offered to take the picture for us. They were so kind and very friendly. Little that we knew they were the owners of Isabella and we talk with them. The dinner was delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if ever in the Winker Barre area in P.A.
Great restaurant! Highly recommend the shrimp and scallop cavatelli. Was also very impressed the how well we were treated. Next time you're in the neighborhood, you should stop in for a fantastic meal.
Isabella is a great restaurant that I would absolutely recommend!
Had a great dinner with my fiance. Quiet and elegant. Food and service was excellent
My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time last night and we enjoyed every minute of it. The food was delicious and our server Steve was a delight. Will return for sure!
The short answer; Incredible experience that I will be raving about. The long answer; Isabella was recommended to us by family who even went so far as to get us a gift card to encourage us to go. We were greeted immediately as we got through the door and did not have to wait for a table thanks to our Resy reservation. The atmosphere was cozy, yet refined. We felt very comfortable! Our waitress was ABOVE AND BEYOND AMAZING and I am so incredibly upset that I forgot her name as I'm writing this but I believe it started with an A and she had red hair! She recommended the Mozzarella en Carroza (spelling?) as it was a 'grilled cheese... but better', which absolutely sold me. She was also so awesome in making two mocktails for both my partner and me since we don't drink. The bread at the table was standard, nothing to rave about but I mean, we didn't go for the bread! We started with stuffed mushrooms and the Mozzarella Special, and we were flabbergasted when they came out. The portions were HUGE. There were six stuffed mushrooms with the typical cheese/breadcrumb filling and a lemon. Let me tell you, serving a lemon wrapped in cheesecloth is A++ service. I don't want any seeds, thank you. While they were nothing to write home about, the grilled cheese was a SHOWSTOPPER. Texas toast STUFFED with mozzarella and grilled to ~perfection~ then topped with the sweet and herby tomato sauce and salty savory parmesan... our jaws dropped. I was not expecting this at all and it completely blew us away. If we return, we may get two of those because /DANG/. For entrees, he had the King Salmon (which was cooked to perfection I might add) with mashed potatoes and butternut squash. Let me tell you about this butternut squash, it was made with LOVE. It was buttery and smooth and so sweet it was nearly a dessert in and of itself. I ordered the seared scallops with bacon and sundried tomato risotto. Holy. Lord. Above. The scallops were /perfect/ and I would genuinely go back for just the risotto. So cheesy and not mushy at all, with bacon that didn't overwhelm the herbs! I was shocked, normally bacon just cancels everything out but nope, delicious. (I also had butternut squash and you already know how I feel about it. <3 ) 1000000/10 I cannot wait for another trip to Isabella!
Attended a party here and it was phenomenal! The food, the drinks, the service, all absolutely wonderful! Highly recommend!!
Excellent not far from Wilkes-Barre had a soup flight , interesting concept.special was tortellini with peas and creme, excellent, food was delicious good beer choice bottles only
My husband brought me for our Anniversary! It was a delicious meal and our waitress was super attentive. Our meals were all on the nightly specials menu but made me want to go back to try more!
Fine dining restaurant with great specials
Nicely done veal with a salad. Tender not over cooked lightly breaded veal that was pounded down to a thin culet. The salad with a light oil dressing that was slightly sweetened with red onions. Great atmosphere. I would come back again.
Having been to Isabella's restaurant on several occasions now, I find it to be the most comfortable atmosphere with the nicest hostess /manager, waitresses and staff that I've found anywhere. The food and presentation are excellent. It's where I chose to take my 98 year old mother to give her the best experience possible. My wife and I spoil ourselves on fine dining and this restaurant is top of our list when we are visiting family in the area. Nice atmosphere, good wine, delicious food, most courteous and helpful staff=5 stars easily.
This is a classy fine dining establishment. I had the pork chops with fingerling potatoes. Simply one of the best examples of the dish I have ever consumed.
Please note the restaurant is not open for dinner on Monday nights.
What a phenomenal dining experience!! The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent!
By far the best meal of my life. Good atmosphere, incredible food, and appropriately sized portions. The service was absolutely wonderful, I could not have asked for a better night out.
A great restaurant with a delicious and varied menu. Everything I had was cooked to perfection. A little pricier than I am used to, but it's the type of restaurant that it is, plus I wasn't surprised since I checked out the menu prior to arriving.
A staple in the northeastern Pennsylvania cuisine scene. White tablecloth fine dining, menu excellent , genuinely welcoming.. they have a cozy little bar for a table for two on a busy night. Staff is wonderful, truly great service and I believe there is a gentleman that opens the door for the guests ( at least that's what my mom told me ). Also I'd like to know that they chose to put those tablecloth mats on each table, so your plates don't ping off the tabletop, things sit nice, comfy on the elbows.. As a dweeb, I take notice of those extra touches.. just sayin' Delicious traditional dishes, but with a real touch of genuine. They put craft and dedication to cooking these traditional dishes. The staff is one of the finest in the area, service was outstanding I would say make sure to order the special. Even though you might not know what it is, you can trust that this kitchen will deliver an amazing plate. Recently I went there with my parents, and they reminded me to wear something nice and make sure I don't have any holes in my jeans.. haha! That's the kind of place this is in a great way. Isabella has been doing it great for I would say almost 20 years one of my best friends used to cook their way back when and was always regarded as a very great kitchen in the area. Always a great choice. Thank you very much Isabella I will see you again! See you around! - JD∆
I want to thank the manager, Joe and all of his staff for making our get-together at Isabella’s perfect!! From the ambience, the food and the staff, it was wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a night out or for a group gathering. It was 5 Star all around! Thank you again, Joe and the entire staff taking care of our group tonight!!
Had an 80th birthday celebration for my mom here. Everyone was amazing and really helped to make her feel special. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. I highly recommend.
Food was delicious. Service was slow. I think they had someone not show up to waitress that day. Will try there again.
Wow! Let me tell you this restaurant is absolutely phenomenal! Wonderful selection of food. Their Italian dishes offer a delightful, home-style taste.. The risotto is to die for! I also love their soup and sandwich during lunch, so many choices!. I do recommend everyone to stop by here.
I was expecting to see the usual Italian fare on the menu. So I was pleasantly surprised to see unusual menu items such as razor clams (from Oregon) and a wonderful twist on a”cookie-cutter” idea of “surf-and-turf:” Elk and octopus! Service was great and the restaurant has nice ambiance. Portions are large and prices are very reasonable.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner, food was very good and service outstanding.
The Special Hake - was delicious. The presentation was gorgeous - a pepper filled with corn and veg. Butternut squash and mashed potatoes were presented proportionly on the plate. We Chose from a fine collection of wine and always finish with the LA Colombe coffee. Thank you, Chef Scott.
Delicious food, outstanding and friendly service. A+
We had a special birthday dinner with three people. The food and service was extraordinary for anywhere in America much less in the Wyoming valley. The chef is Italian and he is an artist. Service made me feel like I was the only one in the room. I will go again and again.
The dessert was fabulous and my favorite part! I highly recommend the lemon coconut cake. Meals were good but nothing outstanding for the price. Our server was very nice but very slow for a not so busy night. Dishes sat for longer then they should have, she kept saying she would bring more water but forgot, and my husband had to ask for a new drink. Would have been a better experience if the service was more attentive.
Went here for dinner and drinks. Overall the food we outstanding, but with a small snag. The pasta was undercooked but we chose to not have it replaced as there was more than enough other food that we didn't even finish that. We did mention it and they were very apologetic and comped us our drinks. The quality and taste of everything else made forgiving the pasta an easy thing to do. We fully intend on visiting this nice place again with no hesitation!
One of my favorite restaurants. It's quiet, romantic, beautiful, and the food has always been excellent. Even their french fries is the best I've ever had. It's the romantic place you take a loved one to on special occasions. Try Isabella.
Food was very good meatballs app and eggplant very good. Pork chop was well worth ordering as well as tuna. Cocktails we delicious. Service a little slow nice clean restrooms though and the Atmosphere was warm and welcoming!
Chose this restaurant because they had great reviews and we wanted a nice classy place to stop and eat at while we were on the road. The food was okay but not what we expected considering the restaurant was categorized as fine dining and considering the pricing. The complimentary bread was old and dry, steak was cooked perfectly but came out cold and the truffle fries were premade frozen fastfood style fries that were dry and lacked seasoning, the chicken parmesan was good but the pasta was on the dry side and the sauce tasted like sauce from a can, very bland and runny. Again, though the food was okay and was not the worst we've had, its just not what we expected. Just a bit disappointing.
Service good. Happened to be pasta night. Appetizers very good (scallops and meatballs) 4 of us there and the other 3 enjoyed their meal, but mine - the pasta was mushy and the sauce tasted like the can I think it came out of, and the shrimp was rubbery.
Went for new years eve to have a nice intimate dinner service with my wife. The food mostly fantastic and had wonderful flavor. However, the intimate dinner that we had planned turned into a sardine packed elbow to elbow service with total strangers. If you would like to eat high school cafeteria style for a premium price then this is the place for you. Will not be returning.
I rarely post reviews, but felt it warranted in this case before anyone goes to this restaurant expecting "fine dining" and receiving Applebees with a fine dining price tag. The restaurants ambiance and service are solid (though white paper on the table isn't exactly a fine dining staple). Overall, that is not the issue here. The issue is the food. Every aspect of the meal was disappointing. Bread came out and was rock hard and clearly not fresh. Then came the $28(!) charcuterie with a very meager selection available - all of the cheeses were dry, no crackers just "crostini" which is code for ripped up toasted garlic bread - no one wants to eat quality cheese and meat on garlic bread - they want to taste the flavor of the product (if there was any). Finally, the $42(!!) "NY Strip" that was not a NY Strip, but at best a piece of sirloin in the shape of a strip (more likely a cut of round). It was cooked over temp on one end and nearly bloody on the other, huge pockets of fat. It would have been disappointing at 1/3 the price. A "fine dining" establishment simply cannot charge $42 for a steak and provide a cut of beef instead. Everyone else at the table reported mediocre food as well. Definitely would not recommend.
First time experience and unlikely to return. For our 2nd anniversary we wanted to try something new. Server - Nice young woman but pretty slow. Spilled a bit but was nice enough to say sorry. Overall enjoyable. Bartender - felt as though he was burdened by having to be at work. Restaurant had 2 tables, twice he made our drinks and let them sit and get warm whiling playing on his phone. We watched him make drinks look at us and then pick up his phone. Food - looks great taste was so-so. Overcooked scallops, under cook fries and we found ingredients from other dishes on both of our entrees End result, for $140 for two you can find much better.
Had dinner there for my mom's special birthday. Exceptional service and food. Such welcoming staff from the moment we entered the restaurant..great wait staff that knew the menu and could advise us. Food was fabulous..best meatballs our group ever Had! Lobster cannoloni, trout special, Bolognese...all wonderful. Can't say enough about our first visit here..will not be our last!
A lot of things on the menu were exaggerated and not what they claim to be, my dish was to have fresh house made linguine but it was clearly something that you’d get in a box, also the diver scallops were the size of a silver dollar and you only get three for $18. Any other reputable restaurant’s diver scallops are large, not bite sized. Food was not impressive. Pretty disappointed for the price.
Don't waste your time or money, meatballs are like mush, rigatoni is worse than Chef Boyardee, chicken parm is a frozen patty you can get at a local pizza shop. Renowned chef? I call BS on that one. You need to go back to culinary school. Sorry, truth sucks. Waste of $90.00 I gave it 2 🌟 because the waiter was nice and the atmosphere was ok, except for the holes in the wall where we sat..... fix that 💩 Food: 1/5 | Service:
The waitress seemed not familiar with the menu. We had to ask if the re were specials. We had to ask the price of the specials. We are not intimidated to ask the price. Why isn’t given. The rest of prices are listed. We asked for romaine instead of lawn cropping and were charged an up charge. The “romaine substitution” we asked for was an up charge of $2 This may sound petty but the salad was very small, nothing more than lettuce on a plate. No tomatoes, nothing more. I have been there a few years ago. It has now almost all Italian. The chicken Giovanni was greasy. My scallop and shrimp over pasta was good. Has the restaurant been sold to a new owner and chef
Reservations at Isabella's mean nothing apparently. I had reserved a dinner for 2 for me and my wife's anniversary (weeks in advance). With less than 24 hours notice, I receive an email saying my reservation has been cancelled with no explanation. When I called, there was no apology offered. It turns out the restaurant booted all reservations because (probably) one of their bigwig pals wanted to reserve the whole restaurant.. with less than 24 hours notice. At least I have almost a day to find fine dining somewhere else for our anniversary.
6:30 reservations - 4 seated tables - waited 40 mins for server to take our dinner order. Husband ordered an “OLD FASHION” drink which was clearly not, it was Woodford on ice with a cherry. If they didn’t know how to make it they could have googled the recipe. Second, ordered a cheese plate of which was dropped off at the table with no mention as to which cheese was which. Poor table service IMO. Main dishes come to the table…a pasta dish with seafood…with no offering of Parmesan cheese on top…no pepper. The cavatelli was just ONE CUP of pasta with 2 shrimp and 2 scallops. For 35.00???…. Just a drop off with once again no table service. We had to ask for a bar drink refill which was once again….not even an old fashion by any stretch. So unhappy at this point we ordered dessert to go. Got home with our dessert to go to find out they packed us 2 cheesecake with ONE AND A HALF strawberries in a side cup. So my question is….we each get a half of a strawberry to go with our cheesecake? I mean that is ridiculous!!! Needless to say we wont go back. Food was overpriced for the amount of food. Honestly I can’t get back those 2 hours of my life I wasted at that restaurant.
made a reservation for 5:45 (they’re open 5-9) i got there and doors were locked and nobody answered the phone… i went on facebook to see if they had closed for some reason but nothing information was on there. extremely disappointed.
