After our adventure to SoFi in support of a USWNT win against Brazil, we were hungry. We didn’t have a destination, so we considered all our options. Thanks to my future son in law, we found Jangmo Jip. When we walked in we noticed the place was empty. Definitely not a posh setting but clean and hospitable. We where greeted with a very big smile. I didn’t get her name but I think she was the owner. We sat down and we tried to understand the menu as best we could. Ultimately I ordered based on the pictures. Damn I was not disappointed, soup was so flavorful. The pickled radish was crisp and the kimchi was great. This was a total immersive feel, we couldn’t communicate fluently but one thing that for sure came across was warmth and hospitality. Definitely cant wait to bring wifey to this local find.
It's been over a decade, but my mother and I wanted to eat here since we were in the area and were glad we did. Definitely brought back some good memories of our family meals out. The fare is a welcome relief from the hodgepodge of fusion food styles that are a little too aromatic and sauced up, not to mention glamorously overpriced, which is nice once in a while. We ordered the Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) -- it does also have tripe, beef shanks/thin cuts. For newcomers, be sure to add the sea salt and green onions to taste. I suggest adding a little at a time and sampling at various points to enjoy how the salt brings out the flavor. The cabbage and radish kimchi side dishes were fresh and added to the experience. Enjoy!
Good food, especially if you are craving some good soup after drinking all night long. Dogani tang is verrrrry good. Kimche was awesome as well.
Hole in the wall type krn restaurant. Although it's pricier than what I would expect, I give five star b.c the worker seem genuinely happy. A trait in restaurant that's hard to come by .those who are interested in trying new krn food, give them a shot.
Great price, very friendly staff, and the food is delicious! The menu selection is quite limited, but all of them are great tasting. The portions are perfect and the price is very reasonable. The staff speaks English as well.
I’ve been eating here for years. Always have enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Friendly staff & atmosphere - delicious, comforting food.
Simple hardy Korean comfort food. It's great for when you are sick, on a hot day don't feel like cooking, fill your soul with good food. This is it! I've been coming here since 17 years old. My dad brought me here recovering from flu to re-energize. Still good 40 years now with same good prompt service and quick food delivered piping hot to your table. Now I come here just with my husband or with my grown kids for good seullungtang. I recommend it.

Food was 4 stars but the service was definitely 6 stars so average was 5 stars!!
Good quality, kind service. Constant excellent service
One of my best restaurants.
Very good! I love this place.
Not as good as my moms, but purtay close.

Good for korean
Taste good
Excellent!!
I love this place. The food is always good, and the ladies who serve you are very nice. I especially like the barley tea, and the little dish of shik hae at the end. You won’t get several types of banchan here, but the daikon kimchi, and seaweed with gochujang are yummy! The suluntang is my go to choice, it’s good for whatever ails you.
Good Korean soup restaurants. We come here when it's cold out and want warm food - its always the same. The waitresses are friendly and food is served quickly.
Great seolungtang (bone broth soup) dwenjang jigae (fermented soybean soup), and bossam. Just all-around really good, healthy food and really excellent, fast service! Parking is a bit limited right in front of the place, but there's a BUNCH just a 10-second (literally) walk away.
Been eating here for 15 years Still consistent taste. If you like Korean soup, this is the place. Super friendly staffs.
good soups and bossam (pork belly slices u can mix with stuff as you please). its comforting to see the same faces all these years. welcoming to non korean speakers
So glad I came here. Simple diner with great food! Like coming to my aunties. :).
The food here is always fresh and the meats are top quality.
Great atmosphere kind workers. Very patient and serve quickly. Highly recommend. Very good for cold days.
Good food and friendly service! Good local spot for Korean food.
Soups are great. The service is fast and the price is really good.
Seolungtang is always good here.
Super friendly lady staffs with prompt service with meals.
Really good Seolleongtang at an even better price. You can get it to go.
One of the best for traditional ox tail soup!! #betterthanmoms
Very good price for Korean white soup
Good price. Good service. Good food
This is what you call an original Korean food with many side dishes. Yum.
Just your korean soup shop. Hits the spot on those cold rainy days
The ladies are very nice and the food excelent I personally will recommend the beff tendon soup and the soup that has a little ckicken with ginseng the best soups. My apologies but I forgot to take photos.
My favorite restaurant. I grew up here and moved away. It's worth the 2 hr drive.
Whenever I am in oc this is my first stop. They open early and I love a comforting beef bone soup or ginseng chicken soup. . First time I came here I was craving the pig feet slices with kimchi and radish plate, which was soooo good with the brown bean miso paste. . The soups here is comforting and I love how clear the broth is. They have a whole bowl of green onions too. Which I go crazy and filled my bowl until it is green. . The refreshing ice tea they serve is sooo good and refreshing. . The refill on the bonchon is my favorite touch of the meal. I love the prices which is average and not over price. Love the fast service on the food. . It is located in a Plaza with plenty of parking. There is a korean grocery next door too. They even have a korean bakery shop too. It is a must come and visit if you are in the area. Thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.
Best wholesome Korean food you can get. They've been consistently amazing for about the two decades that I've been coming to get food from here. Their dine-in is wonderful and they package their take-outs very securely. I'll never stop coming here when I need comfort food. <3
Don't know what some of these low reviews are on but this place was great. It's a restaurant known for their seolleongtang, an authentic oxbone based soup. They cook the bones for hours until the broth becomes milky white and rich and top it with meat and noodles. The table will have a jar of salt and a jar of green onions so that each person could season their own dish (this is normal in Korea) and each meal is provided with side dishes (approximately four, again normal for seolleongtang) and healthy purple rice (this is high quality and more expensive than your standard white rice). I don't normally eat Korean food outside of my home because most restaurants disappoint me but this one deserved five stars. Would come again the next time I am in Cali.
짱 🙌🏻 My favorite samgyetang place in entire SoCal. It’s lowkey but the flavor is absolutely authentic and delicious. Best 삼계탕 I ever had, very affordable, potent and nutritious - highly recommend for your health & vitality. 10 out of 10 would recommend and come back again!
Love everything about this place. The food is always great, but also the ladies taking the orders have always been so welcoming and accommodating.
You can tell this place has a lot of regulars. The food is satisfying in the way comfort food always is. And the ladies who run the place are lovely. I like to get the 따로국밥 or 보쌈. But the 설렁탕 is the best dish to eat with their delicious kimchi in my opinion

If you want the kind of Korean comfort food that wraps you in a big cozy blanket and whispers, “You’re home now,” Jang Mo Jip is the place. Nothing flashy, no Instagram gimmicks — just steaming bowls of hearty soup, beautifully chewy dumplings (I LOVE their dumplings, they’re my ride-or-die here), piles of fresh kimchi, and honest, satisfying flavors. The atmosphere is no-frills but exactly what you want when you’re craving soul-warming sul lung tang or a healing haejang guk. The banchan? Solid, classic, and plentiful. You leave full, happy, and with the kind of quiet joy only a truly good meal can give. Not trying to impress, just trying to feed you well — and that’s what keeps me coming back. Comfort food at its finest.
When I think of a small mom n pop shop, Jang Mo Jip is the definition of it! This is my first time here, and I was immediately impressed by the food here. This hole in the wall shop offers a smaller selection of food with it specializing more in soup-and-rice dishes. Honestly, I appreciate a smaller menu because to me it means they hone in on perfecting their dishes and it prevents decision fatigue for the indecisive customer (like me). We had to try the bossam because I was craving it very badly! I love eating boiled pork belly topped with kimchi, garlic, jalapeno and ssamjang sauce and then wrapped in lettuce It's so good! And the Sam Kye Tang was even more satisfying with it's rich and thick chicken broth flavor It melted in my mouth alongside with the purple rice we got. They also provided complimentary sides (aka banchan) which is why I love eating out at Korean restaurants because of their fermented veggies. Everything about this mom n pop shop were good. The only 2 cons I had was that they do NOT let you take leftover side dishes (kimchi, radish & seaweed). Not sure why this policy exist but makes me sad that these sides gets thrown to the trash if you do not finish them during your meal there. And the menu had obscured prices so I didn't know how much they cost until they bought out the receipt.
Solid Korean soup spot that I’ve been going to for the last 20 years. The kimchi is solid and they serve the Korean rice punch at the end of the meal.

Good place to get some Korean soup.
Good food and friendly staff
Good place to start the day
Clean and good food
Fast and good food
Authentic Korean ginseng chicken soup and beef broth. Goes well with rice and the free appetizers. You add the house salt to taste but don't forget the green union which adds color, flavor, and aroma to the soup.
My one stop shop for all sorts of different Korean soups. If you feel sick, they got a soup for that. Feel hung over? Soup for that as well. Seeking a warm comforting bowl of soup with rich bone marrow broth? This place specializes in that.
Sometimes, when the mood strikes, I just have to get me some tang. But, not just any tang will do. Some are dirty, some have been around the block. That's why I go to Jangmo Jip for a bowl of their renowned sullungtang. Having shopped at Super 1 Mart & dined at Soy Tofu in the same plaza on many occasions, I've never taken a glance at Jangmo Jip. Maybe it's the lack of English signage, maybe it's my tunnel vision. Who knows?. However, on a rainy, El Nino day, my appetite called for hot soup other than the usual soondubu or pho. As I sat myself down, I was greeted with hot barley tea & banchan. The kimchi was excellent. I have plans to make kimchi at home, to go along with my other homemade fermented products of milk kefir & kombucha, and this is how I want the end product to be. Salty, crunchy, slightly sweet. I asked the cashier/server for sullungtang w/ Korean noodles Simple, clean-tasting & comfort food in a nutshell. I added salt & green onion to taste, which meant about 3/4 of the container of green onion. As sullungtang being rather bland, I ran an audible and poured some of the kimchi chili powder sauce into my soup to spice things up. Not an authentic method by any means, but delicious regardless. The bowl was large & quite filling, after having the banchan (2 helpings of kimchi), barley tea & steamed rice. Complimentary sikhe to finish the meal Service was good. The kind Korean woman handled calls, the register & table service in stride. Before I could ask for more banchan, she came to my table and asked "more?". You mind reader you ;p Seating for about 30 people via tables. A quaint place that I'd expect to find off a back alley in Seoul. Parking is in a private lot at the Super 1 Mart shopping center. Jangmo Jip is located on the right of the bank. Call me Jangmo Jangles, because Jangmo Jip indeed has some killer sullungtang to soothe the soul. My bowl was inexpensive, filling & wonderful, w/o much of a wait. Service was good & being so close to home, Jangmo Jip is another delicious food destination I can go to for some Korean comfort food. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
Always consistent.. Nothing fancy but comfort food. Price is still reasonable and service is always there.
Great place for authentic Korean soups.
It felt intimate and very korean, the waitresses spoke hardly any English the service was great though.

Good place to eat.
Good service & food...
Friendly staff. Food was okay, kimchi was not the best. Disappointed because there was barely any meat inside the soup!
I do understand the 1 star reviews. But it isn't that bad of a place. Average.
Food average but service atrocious.
The process of making food is so ~ dirty. Now that I know, I can't eat it. I used to eat it several times a month. I want to throw it all up.
I don't usually write bad reviews but, I had to let people know about this. I tried "Sam-Jae-Tang" for first time and I decided to change my ratings here because I believe this place don't deserve any business at all. "Sam-Jae-Tang" is an authentic korean food contains Gin-Seang, young chicken and other herbs. You eat on very hot day so you can maintain your health but this place gave me a boiled chicken in the plain beef soup. I asked serving lady Gin-Seang is missing in the soup? The way how "Sam-Jae-Tang" should be. She replied that Gin-Saeng is too expensive and they use it very very little but it's in the soup. Are you kidding me? Then, they should lower the price. I paid 14 bucks for chicken soup. I am korean and I know exactly how it should be. Its un-ethical and gimmicky. I will not eat here any longer. I wish I can give minus star. To those non-koreans, please go some place else. Korean friends, you guys are idiots referring this place. This restaurant is playing with their food. Who knows what they are doing to cut down cost. It's shame how they do business. It's food. The most important things in our lives. As human beings, we deserve better.
