The food was very good. The service was impeccable, 200%. I went with my family. I've been here for 5 days and only discovered the restaurant on the last day. Bad luck! It's worth checking out the food, it has a very good flavor.

Such a great, authentic Italian seafood spot in La Spezia. The hospitality and feel of the whole restaurant was gorgeous. Yes maybe dated, however to us this was an indication on what was to come. We were squeezed in on a Sunday when they say reservations are a must, so this was greatly appreciated and the food was lovely. Fresh, came quickly and certainly filled us up. Thanks so much!
Amazing restaurant! We were looking for a truly local place with quality products, and we definitely found it. We trusted the owner’s suggestions (he was super friendly and welcoming), and everything from the starter to the dessert was absolutely delicious 🤌🏼 A must-stop in La Spezia!

Great place to enjoy an affordable seafood feast ! We sat down and from the minute we were seated we were spoken to by the owner about the menu. He asked what we wanted (seafood) and he immediately suggested what we should have. We trusted him to pick for us and he delivered ! Even cleaned and served the fish on the table after it came out. If you want good quality seafood at a good price eat here !!
Our visit to La Nuova Spezia for dinner was an absolute delight, a true spirit of Italian hospitality and culinary tradition. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly greeted by our host and promptly seated for a memorable evening. The restaurant's decor alone tells a story, beautifully decorated with fascinating memorabilia including medals of honor, historical paintings, images from the restaurant's past, Lions Club plaques, owners painting and various recognition awards. It was clear this establishment, thriving for over half a century, is a cherished local establishment. The highlight was a personal visit from one of the owners in the painting, who not only checked on us but also graciously offered recommendations for their best dishes – a truly personal touch that made us feel right at home. We began our meal with the standard Italian start: some fresh bread & ordered their delightful house wine to pair with our meal. For our main courses, we ordered the grilled squid which was tender and perfectly cooked to the perfection. The seafood risotto was a "proper" seafood risotto – rich, flavorful, and packed with the fresh catches of the Ligurian coast. While my wife, a true seafood enthusiast, savored every bit of everything. While, Me not a typical seafood fan, found myself trying to enjoy the experience. I stole the pasta from her scampi pasta & the delicious risotto from the seafood risotto. To conclude our feast, we indulged in two classic Italian desserts again recommendation of the owner. The classic tiramisu, served elegantly in a tiny shot glass,and another delectable layered dessert, generously topped with powdered sugar. Both were the perfect sweet ending to our meal. La Nuova Spezia offers more than just food; it offers an authentic experience. With great food, a charming ambiance, and wonderful company, it's a place where even a non-seafood aficionado like myself can thoroughly appreciate the freshness and quality. We left with full hearts and happy palates, thoroughly impressed by this timeless gem in La Spezia. I highly recommend this restaurant.

One of the best meals I've ever had in Italy, and I have visited the country many times. The food was simply splendid. My son had the best spaghetti carbonara we've ever tasted, nicely rich in egg and full of flavour. I had a delicious – maybe a bit overwhelming in amount – fish soup (what we Portuguese would call a "caldeirada de peixe" rather than a soup) and a delectable sole with parsley. The staff were very friendly but also quite animated and intense, which might be a bit much for the faint of heart, but it was absolutely worth it for the incredible quality of the food. This intensity isn't any kind of sales tactic; it's genuinely just the owner's passionate way of life and dedication to his establishment. It's a bit of a hidden gem, location-wise, but it would be a huge loss if you visit La Spezia and don't treat yourself to at least one meal here. Highly recommended!
Authentic Italian seafood pasta restaurant. Service is personalised, quick and friendly. The food is amazing. We had the 'seafood 5-ways' entree and then a risotto, pasta and mixed grilled veggies. So fresh and tasty. Good house wine too! Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
If I could give this restaurant 100 stars, I would. This was such a wholesome, amazing experience, I was left speechless. My husband and I came here as a coincidence because we were turned down from another restaurant that was full and we found this close by in Google Maps. From the moment we entered, we were made to feel welcomed, the atmosphere is warm and cozy and the service was spectacular. The owner (I'm assuming he is) was so helpful, asked us what we liked and gave us recommendations based on it. Everything was splendid. We had the seafood variation aperitif and grilled seafood variation main course. Every one of the dishes in the aperitif was amazing, I ate things that I didn't even know what they were but were so delicious I had to ask for their names (Try the Chipola Tropea Mousse di Pesce and you'll thank me). The owner then also recommended we try their tiramisú, which was genuinely the best I've had in my trip in Italy. The prices are also very affordable when compared to the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere you're receiving. By the end of our night, he also offered us free coffee and limoncello and we ended up asking for a picture because this was an experience we'll both remember for a long time. We'll definitely be back whenever we're back in La Spezia and if you're reading this and thinking of visiting, please do!
La Trattoria La Nuova Spezia was simply incredible! The servers and the owner were very warm and welcoming. They recommended several dishes, all of which we decided to try. Every dish was excellent, and I highly recommend dining here. Don't miss out on their desserts, which were also delicious. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. A standout for me was their homemade white wine—absolutely fantastic! This restaurant has undoubtedly been the best seafood dining experience I've had in La Spezia. Perfect place for dinner. Everything that we ordered during 3 diners was amazing, spaghetti, paccheri, crema catalana as desert or tiramisu was without comparison. I recommend this place for a excelent evening or dinner. The owner Mr Luciano is the heart of this place and he is taking care that everything is made accordingly.
This has easily become my favorite restaurant ever. We happened to go there because of the good reviews and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, I had happy tears when trying the lobster pasta. You could taste the freshness of the ingredients and you immediately knew it was made with love. The prices are super fair and service was also great. Fiore and Rim were incredible to us. They had great recommendations and a contagious charming mood☺️. They also offered us a limoncello on the house, which we had to kindly deny because we had already ordered too much wine. My partner and I are not usually restaurant-repeaters but we liked it so much that we wanted to go the next day. Unfortunately, it was closed, but that didn’t stop us from returning the day after. Fiore and Rim recognized us immediately and we got great recommendations. They treated us to bruschetta on the house, which was amazing. The spaghetti alla scarpara is to die for. My boyfriend also ordered a lasagna, which was not on the menu and they still did it for him and he loved it!! The desserts are also incredible. Especially the tiramisu is magnificent. And they treated us to coffee on the house!! Honestly, i have never had such a great overall experience in any restaurant. I’m still sad we had to leave and I’m still craving the pasta from there. 🥹 I will definitely return one day, this is my best recommendation! Fiore & Rim: Grazie di tutto! ❤️
This is quite a popular establishment that has been here for a while. It was recommended by our hotel and we were immediately welcomed by the super friendly manager/owner (?). They specialise in seafood and so we ordered the lobster pasta, seafood pasta and a mix grill of seafood items. Overall, the pasta was very good.. Especially the lobster pasta although my wife did not finish the pasta. The mixed grill was good but as seafood grill doesn't really involve alot of creativity in cooking, it was ok but not exceptional. Nevertheless the energy and friendliness of the manager really made the place special. Food was decently priced and their house wine was very worthwhile. We found the tiramisu to be too rich for our liking but it's great as well.
Delicious pasta! We ordered the lobster tagliatelle and fresh tomato pasta, which, with the homemade chili sauce, were a delight. Also ordered the mix plate of grilled squid and swordfish. Lastly for dessert, we had to try the tiramisu which definitely did not disappoint. Was the best version of it I’ve eaten thus far. Owner was indeed very friendly and funny, chatting with all the guests while make recommendations.
Was recommended by a friend to drop by and it did not disappoint! Best lobster pasta and value for money for its price point. Shop is homely and unassuming but the owners are warm, genuine and funny. This place has a vibe. You will be brought back to the 80s/90s. I can feel that this place was a hit back in the days. The waiters are experienced and you can see the hospitality runs thru their veins. The audience is 100% local. Construction workers, young and older men in suites, couples in their jogging pants, mature women eating alone. Just exactly how you want a restaurant to be filled. People of all classes come together to eat. I ordered grilled veggies, deepfried and breaded squid and the steamed mussels. White bread on the table was stale and tasteless the dark bread on the other hand was quite moist and had a great texture. Grilled veggies were flavorful and tasted fresh and lovely. Deep fried squid were crunchy and after adding some salt they were overall tasty. Not the very best I've had so far, somehow they were lacking the punch of the sea yet after all decent and for 12 euro I guess it's fair. Washed down with the local house white wine , overall fresh with just a hint of sweetness in the aftertaste and with a little natural fizz to it. They forgot my 2nd course (mussels) but after a friendly reminder it was served Within 8 minutes. They were ok. Overall a little too heavy on the garlic side and some of them smelled a little off. So, am I disappointed to have come here? Absolutely not! Will I come back? Yes, but I would order something else. I really do love the vibe and the honest energy of this place. My carbonara was scrambled eggs with pasta, kinda disgusting and easily the most disappointing culinary experience in Italy. Their complimentary foccacia was pretty good at least.
