Opinions de Zig Zags Pub Lake Placid
love this bar. Visit it every time I am in Lake Placid. Great drink selection and the staff is great
The barmaid is friendly, efficient and knows her stuff. Highly recommend this place for a good drink
Great bar !!! Bartenders were Soo friendly. Had a ball can't wait to return .
Been coming here for years a s don't think I'll ever stop. Staff and vibe is great. Can't beat the feel of this classy pub.
You ain’t zig zaggin if you ain’t getting in the bogin! Place is amazing Friendly staff and never have to wait on a drink! 🍺 🍻
Second favorite bar in Placid. Good beer selection and friendly staff.
Very fun place. Bartender Dave took care of a group of us all night.
Good drinks, great atmosphere, no kitchen. Fun place to kill an hour or two.
Great bar that's the only one open late. Darts and pool as well.
This is THE bar in Lake Placid. Clearly there are more bars in town but this one will always be my favorite.
Fun pub with fun atmosphere. This is one of the friendliest bars in town, and if you're a history buff you'll be in heaven. Foosball, pool, and darts give you fun activities with friends, and music from local artists is a regular occurrence. Make sure you get a photo in the bobsled out front, this is a local icon!
Well I don't know ...so my girlfriend some how for got that she had are googles account linked and I started getting all these locations on my maps...out of no where...so yes she enjoyed it with good fellow ...I'm pretty sure it was a marvelous place...No wouldent you say ..💯🙏😁
Fun atmosphere here and they have a really great list of bourbons and tequilas that was totally unexpected....not to mention a great beer list too. It has a real home town vibe that is a lot of fun.
Named after the infamous S-bend in the 1980 bobsled track, this place is a fantastic dive. Excellent whiskey and tequila selection and great prices, plus pool and darts to keep you entertained!
Had a great time. Bartenders were friendly, quick and efficient. Even the crowd was friendly. Will spread the word and certainly go back again
Characters galore in an authentic Lake Placid Bobsled-Themed Bar. It's BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) if you're hungry. Otherwise there's a great selection of beers and spirits, pool table,, darts, foosball and often live music to entertain you. It is a local and tourist favorite
Caitlyn is the best bartender. This is a great bar if you just want a drink and hang out. Perfect place to stop by for a beer with a great selection of craft brews!
Great atmosphere and great music, but most importantly: Incredible drinks and Dave is one of the best, most personable, and most easily likable bartenders I have ever encountered. Cannot rave about this place enough!!
Very divey, but perfect if that’s what you’re into. Pool, darts, a broken hunting arcade game, the whole nine yards. Even over the 3day weekend, it was dead on Sunday. Made the mistake of going out on Sunday and couldn’t get an Uber back. Plan rides in advance!
Had an absolutely hell of a time. Good beer, good music good people. Spent to much money but cmon the boys were having a blast.
We go to Zig Zags a couple times a year, Winter Carnival and Can Ams Rugby Tournament and we always have a good time. This past weekend while a group of 10 of us were there, the Pub turned on Women's Rugby without us even asking, and it made my entire weekend!!
A truly iconic staple of any Lake Placid visit. Large drink selection and great place to hang out.
I was on vacation in lake placid from brooklyn ny i went on multiple times i met the owners brett and dave and dan dave the bartender jake caitlin and cassy they were all very friendly made the best drinks nice enviroment i will always visit when i am in lake placid
Great place even on a Monday night, good prices and the bartender rocks! Met some new people, made some new friends and otherwise had a great time!
Lovely little pub with a huge variety to choose from. Happy hour was worth the trip! Sam served us and she was charming 🌈
My brother Bernie Farley worked there yrs ago. It has always been a great place to hang out and start game of around-the-world with friends 😀
Good selection of beers on tap. Bartender was friendly and attentive.
Quintessential dive bar. No problems or anything, but a cozy spot in Lake Placid with both regulars and out of towners. Great atmosphere. Fair prices on drinks
Me and my wife love zig zags drinks are always good it’s a great place to go play pool or just hang out
A true Lake Placid staple. We have been going up to Placid for years and we always end up at Zig Zags. A great spot to grab a late night drink!
Samantha is the best, most professional, and classiest (is classiest even a word?) bar tender in Lake Placid. She always dresses very attractively but appropriate for the job. Thanks for the great service, Sam! I'll see you next Monday. My only complaint is that she only works at Zigs two nights a week. I'd come in more often if she was there working more nights, however I do understand many people in Placid have to work more then one job. I'd love to shoot a game of pool with you, Sam. You myself and my Husband sometime soon. God Bless you!
Good draft list. They don't serve food but you can bring in food from anywhere nearby. (I got some from the Mexican place across the street). Great spot to watch the Buffalo Bills game on a Sunday!
Really fun Place to get a drink late at night when you're at lake placid. Would highly recommend. They have a pool table, darts and good music.
Best bar in Lake Placid. Owners are wonderful and full of great information about the town and where to go for food or anything else you need. Highly recommend.
A damn good place for a drink! Welcomed my hockey team with open arms multiple times and we all had an absolute blast. From the door guy to the bar staff and even the people hanging out there this place rocked. So stoked with how I was treated here. Also that bob sled made a awesome photo pop!
A classic dive bar with hometown vibes. Great place to play darts or pool. I think those who reviewed it negatively must be the problem because we've had nothing but great service in the many years we've been coming here.
Came to Lake Placid and find the bartender is from NJ and my local bar stool neighbor was from South Orange. It was like being back home but in the Olympic Village. Stop by on your way up north well worth every sip of libations.
Really great bar ! Sunday funday happy hour is really worth it ! 4$ beers and drinks. We tried a few beers and they were really good. They have a lot of choices of beer on tap. They don’t have food on the menu but the bouncer told us that we are more than welcome to grab food and eat it inside ! Really friendly place with great ambiance. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to go out and have a drink in lake placid. There are also a few games (darts and pool).
We think about this place all year when we're not up in the area. It's just the perfect, genuine bar vibe. Love it.
I have been coming up to Lake Placid for many years and always like to stop here. They probably have the best selection of beers in Lake Placid, and the price point is great. Bartenders are always friendly and professional. If you want to watch football or other sporting event, this is the place to be.
This was place was awesome & super convenient to our hotel. The bartender here was hands down awesome, made excellent drinks & was super attentive while managing a busy bar scene alone. Coming from NJ finding a place like this was refreshing. Limited food menu & the bartender was nice enough to allow you to come in with food from the outside. I will definitely be back on my next visit in March
Great drinks, friendly staff, and great classic rock soundtrack. The perfect post-ski vibe!
Chris, Dave, Kaitlyn were the best. Such an awesome spot with great service and friendly staff.
Best bar in Lake Placid. No comparison. Great energy, atmosphere, staff. Clean and fun. Touch tunes to play your own music. Dave is the best bartender west of the Mississippi. Pours a mean one. Silly goofy guy. You’ll find him in Wilmington!
Zig Zag’s was a great experience. Baylee was so kind and friendly to me and my party. 10/10 would go back so much fun love it there
Fun bar in downtown Lake Placid, street parking is scarce but there is a paid municipal lot. Plenty of seating and an ample bar we were able to find a seat on a Saturday afternoon. Good beer list with plenty of draft and cans to choose from. Bartender was very friendly. They even fill crowlers to-go! Will definitely be back
Kaitlyn is the bomb! I’ve never seen another bartender get it all done. Not one person is without a drink. People are not waiting or hearing from her, “Oh, I’m so busy and it’s only me” kind of nonsense. She even manages to talk to all of her patrons and carry a conversation, such a rarity.
Very chill bar that fits perfectly in with the vibe of a ski town. From the photos and my experience, there are often friendly dogs here! Solid pool table and darts. Be sure to take a look at the old photos scattered around to bar. Great place to stop in for a few drinks or spend the whole night.
Always go to Zig Zays when I'm in Lake Placid and want a late drink. Only bar open late and a solid dive. If you're expecting anything more, your expectations aren't based in reality. Grow up, relax, and have a drink at ZZP.
Nice local bar. Good place to stop and grab a drink after a long day of hiking. Friendly staff and clean restaurant
Nice staff. Apparently the only place in town that's open late every night. Not exactly the most happening place. But maybe the most happening place in lake placid.
Another "locals" hangout. The staff and owner are very accommodating and you never know if the person sitting next to you is a past Olympian or the local game warden!
Always love visiting this place. Rough around the edges and laid back atmosphere make a great combination for a good time. Stop in the next time you're in the area if you like good drinks in a casual sports bar atmosphere.
Most reasonably priced bar on the strip! Friendly staff, quite clean and I also enjoyed the fact that there's two dart boards.
Good bar with a decent beer selection. The music was a little loud for conversation but the songs were good.
This is a Lake Placid bar with a pool table, humble tables & chairs, and locals. We had a lot of fun, because we were not interested in a quiet place to have a drink.
Busy and very loud. Cool the hang out with the sliders. Fun local bar. Don't sit in the Bobsled outside for a pic.. The locals pee in it! 😂😂
Similar to other reviews: this place is cool and Lake Placid is awesome. However some of the staff here and a couple local patrons were just rude for some reason. Bartender was sticking up for a girl he has probably been in love with for a decade (there was no actual issue) and then the girl out front seemed to be the owner’s daughter or something which apparently entitled her to a smug attitude she simply couldn’t be bothered to be nice to a customer because obviously new ones come every weekend. Oh well.
Decent prices and good atmosphere to watch sports. After a great experience with the bartender on Saturday 12/12 we decided to come back and hopefully see him again. I came back in with 3 other people on 12/13 to watch football and celebrate a special occasion. We were "greeted" by an incredibly rude woman with long dark hair. She didn't bother to seat us, or even acknowledge us, other than yelling across the bar at us the following, "SIR WE COULD BE CLOSED IF YOU DON'T WEAR A MASK!!!!!". The ONE (1) member of our party who was standing by the bar getting ready to sit immediately put his mask back up, apologized and stated "My apologies, it was an accident" and proceeded to take off his jacket to sit. She again only yelled "WE COULD BE CLOSED". Again we apologized although it seemed unacceptable for an employee to scream at patrons.. After we decided NOT to sit at the bar we sat ourselves. She then refused to come over and wait on us and said "you need to come up to the bar and give me your IDs". She was too busy to be bothered to even leave her 4 regulars congregating at the end of the bar. Which was not covid safe. It was such a disgusting experience we decided to leave and go down the street. While we were discussing how awful this woman was our waitress at the new bar we went to instead overheard us and asked, "Was it a girl named Cassie? Long dark haired girl bartending? Yeah she's pretty awful." We never asked her name because at that point we just wanted to get out of Zig Zags right away. She was so unpleasant that even the waiters in surrounding restaurants know about it. Needless to say we didn't go back and instead decided to celebrate our occasion elsewhere. The best part about this experience was the young gentleman bartender who took care of us on 12/12 and taking our money elsewhere to drop a 30% tip on it.
They've got a bobsled out front. So that's cool. Otherwise it seems like a dive bar for locals. Staff were very unfriendly towards us, so we only stayed for one beer (of which there is a great selection).
Touch Tune Nazi's. Loaded up almost $30 worth of credits for a wedding party and the bartenders kept skipping to play slow country?? Yes. There is a sign that says they have the discretion to change the music but you've got over fifty people dancing to Pitbull for a wedding, and you keep skipping to songs like Tennessee whiskey??? We were trying to have fun, not cry lol.. Ruined the vibe there and left. Other than that, it's a typical dive bar. Not many options in that area, take what ya get.
Extremely disappointed with the service my friend and I received here from the blonde tattooed bartender. We were both disrespected while ordering and paying. The bartender’s attitude was horrendous. We simply ordered a few drinks and she acted inconvenienced and annoyed. We closed our tab and that was also evidently an issue for her. My recommendation to the bar is have a staff that welcomes your tourist heavy customers.
The bartender was very racist with latin people. She screamed cursed at us unnecessarily.
Awful service, bartender doing more shots than folks at the bar, they lost credit card,, total incompetence
Arrogant waiters with an unpleasant attitude, it took them more than 20 minutes to find my card and their treatment was terrible from the moment we ordered the drinks.
Horrible and poor service of employers…… the owner is very impolite and the service is very poor……. Do not recommend…. Very unprofessional and unpleasant…… spend time somewhere else if u a looking for a quality service. Dirty place
The people who serve at the bar don't know how to explain anything and treat you very badly, especially if you are a foreigner
Experience completely ruined by the local staff, when we mentioned that our drinks were wrong they began to scream and push us out of the place, I will never return or recommend this place
Was fun until the bartender (pudgy white guy) told us we’re not welcomed because we’re gay. The guys in my family were playing darts and hugging and he said something along the lines of “we don’t welcome guys touching other guys here.” They’re not even gay! We gave him an opportunity to clarify but he decided to call us “fags.”
Worst bar I might have ever been to. Came on my 21st birthday and was denied with my real government ID. Came back last night (2 years later) and my friend who is 22 was also denied. We both have New York State IDs. You have to fire whoever your bouncer is. His job is to check New York State IDs for a living and he can’t even do that. I left the bar hysterical laughing because you guys are such a joke.
Went there with friends and the bartenders were friendly at first but then got extremely rude and as a bartender myself I was extremely put off. I had been here before in the past and was excited to bring friends from home here for our weekend in Lake Placid and was terribly dissapointed.
Got lost on Mt Cascade and got down at night. We went looking for food at night and nothing was open minus this bar. It was 12:23 and Google said they close at 3. We saw two drunk people leaving it and thought "ok we can go get food" when we go to the door it is locked. We then spent the night eating vending machine snacks. Please if you are not open till 3am please fix your info on google.
Don't worry. I was able to cancel my credit card because your bar staff was too busy doing shots and gave my tab and card to someone else. All good. Can't fix stupid. At least your error was met with equal parts of rudeness.
I would not recommend that bar to anyone under any circumstances. When I asked for the price of the beer, that arrogant blond barmaid told me that it was more expensive for me since I asked… Then, be very careful with your drink if you don’t want them to pour it away in order to make you spend more. For instance, twice I had mine thrown away when I used the washroom and when I went outside for a cigarette. When I mentioned politely to the barman where he put me beer? He decided to throw me out of the bar without any reason. Pushing me around so I leave while a was walking towards the door without arguing. One day this guy will get smack big time by a client way less gentle than I was and It will be well deserved. Avoid at all cost!
I went to like placid for a girls weekend before I got married and the purple hair’d bar tender was so rude. She insulted a few of my friends. We didn’t feel welcomed. We won’t be back. The other staff is amazing tho. -JL
NASTY bartender. Went in with a group of 4 longtime bartenders and all absolutely shocked at how rude and aggressive the bartender was because she has evidently never heard a non-white sounding name and couldn’t find the card. Would never dream of talking to a customer like that. Don’t bother going in here, there is literally nothing good about it
I don't usually leave reviews, but this situation has left me speechless. I witnessed a concerning incident where a customer who had ordered drinks asked for water. The brunette bartender, named Kaitlyn, shockingly responded that they should go to the LAKE if they wanted it, claiming she didn't have the time to pour water 😳. Interestingly, she seemed to find plenty of time to take shots with other customers. I wondered whether she was the owner of the bar, but it turns out she's not; she simply behaves like one. Her attitude was extremely discourteous to all the patrons, and she constantly rolled her eyes at everyone. She yelled at my husband for taking “too long” trying to get his credit card from the wallet (which was literally 2 seconds). And when I politely told her that she can’t talk to people like that and I asked for water, she astonishingly grabbed my drink and threw it against the bar. We left the place and went to another bar where we discussed the situation with others and it appeared that the entire town is well aware of her rude unpleasant personality
Fun, small town vibe. But out of most things on the menu and bartender wouldn't serve me because she had never seen an enhanced ID before. So, beware if you try to use an enhanced ID if you get carded. Changing to 1-star because I remember now the bartender was showing my ID to random patrons asking if they thought it was legit. A real breach of privacy and respect if you ask me. I get not wanting to serve someone if you think they're lying to you about their age, but please don't show my ID to other patrons, it's just not professional.
Took forever to be served and was denied service despite the fact I am obviously an older man. What makes it worse was that I was denied service very rudely by a girl that looked like she was twelve. If you want to drink, go to great Adirondack just a small ways up the road. They are much more professional and have quality food and a great stout.
Came in with a party of 75, had called the owner a few weeks before to let him know that we were bringing an entire wedding party so that we didn’t overwhelm them. We’ve been lake placid locals for about 15 years. Bride didn’t have a wallet on her — none of us got let in despite us all being in our late 20s/30s. After 10-12 years of going here I’m done, it was a weird hill to die on.
I've been here twice and twice I've been overcharged on my tab. You gotta watch them. Plus, if you sit in the back of the bar, the employees smoke under the air intake out back and make the back bar smell like an ashtray. When I asked the bartender about the smoke, he smiled and walked away. It's a shame, because this could be a great dive bar. Instead, pass it by for better Lake Placid options.
Horrible service! Wolf in sheep's clothing... They want you to come in, but what they really want is just your money. Management has lost all its balls... When a customer is upset, they call the police. That is not a customer service strategy. That is a "I lost my balls strategy"... DO NOT GO IN!!!! I tipped more than enough to all of the bartenders to hear when I was upset "f u" I proved a more than generous DOUB TIP... The service I received was not even close to what I gave. I wish them all the best, Robert
Be careful at this bar. The bartender followed us out of the bar claiming we didn’t pay for the drinks we ordered. In fact, we did pay in cash and another bar tender pick up the money. We explained that and the bartender continued to ask us to pay and started swearing. I’ve never seen anything like it and the whole scenario left us a little shaken.
I had high hopes for this place and still believe it has potential. However, my experience with the owner left me disappointed. A few months ago, I mentioned to the owner that I had overheard a bartender rudely asking a man with limited English if he was "stupid." My intention was not to be confrontational; I simply wanted to make him aware of what had happened as I was leaving. Today, when I returned, the owner (I believe his name is Brett, though I'm not certain) asked me to leave, stating that I was "upset last time." Confused, I explained the situation again, thinking there had been some misunderstanding. His response was: "If you own a bar, you can do whatever you want," before showing me the door. I'm left wondering why a straightforward comment about unprofessional (and potentially racist) behavior by a staff member would be such a problem for the owner.
The bouncer said he couldn’t accept my ID when I gave him my real ID and my passport card. I’m 24 years old.
Should have known better after reading some of these reviews but the staff was downright rude and disrespectful to my wife (we came to Lake Placid on our honeymoon). We had a decent time until it was time to pay when we asked for our bill. They rang it up through our credit card (which was to hold the bar tab so we didn’t have to pay cash every time we ordered a drink. We wanted to pay cash since they add a 4% premium if you pay with a card). They told us they couldn’t reverse the transaction but instead of explaining in an apologetic way, made it seem like our fault. The bartender raised her voice at us and told me “I’m sorry you have to go home with her” as my wife tried to explain to situation. Then she said “maybe you were overserved” in a context that didn’t really make a lot of sense, making me think she was over served herself, my wife only had maybe 3 beers. It ended with her yelling at us as we walked out. If you want friendly service, this isn’t the place. I can’t believe that a beautiful town like this would have an establishment that treats people this way, and it seems like we haven’t been the only ones with such a negative experience. With so many other bars around the town avoid any potential conflicts or potential harassment and head elsewhere.
I’m sure it’s good on some days but the workers were incredibly rude to my partner and I. Felt uncomfortable here as an Asian person!
The angry little man at the door has a real ego. Went to roomers right across the street and had a great time.
This happened a few months prior, but The bartender was downright hateful towards folks who don’t speak English as a first language, and when reported to management, was told that they “don’t belong here” if they don’t speak English. I frequent the ADK often & was excited to show some foreign friends around. They speak perfect English with a German accent. I can’t imagine how people of color are treated.
Had to be DD during a celebration. Asked for water or even a pitcher just to make her job easier than pouring glasses, for myself and 8 in my party. Bartender said I have to buy bottled instead of serving straight tap for 8 of my companions. Charged me 27 dollars altogether for a diet coke and 8 bottles of water. Lesson learned, bring your own water.
I had a really disappointing experience here. An employee was openly rude and dismissive toward my friend, while treating other customers respectfully. The difference in how my friend was treated was uncomfortable and felt racially motivated. No one should be made to feel unwelcome or disrespected because of their race. Customer service like this is unacceptable, and I won’t be returning unless this is seriously addressed by management.
The bouncer (who was clearly afflicted with severe napoleon syndrome) refused to accept my girlfriend’s Drivers license or passport card (out of state from mass) she’s 24 and provided two legal government IDs. He still refused to serve us. It’s unfortunate to see someone so small in statue get so drunk off such little power. Will never be coming back to this establishment
