With the addition of spicy tenders to the menu Chicken Express has taken its exalted place at the very Pinnacle of chicken tender purveyors in Central Texas. I hereby decree that Chicken Express has the best tenders in Austin Texas.

The food washing quality,very good.The wait staff was very prompt, positive, friendly.The drive thru wait was short. Great service for a fast dinner.

Love the chicken, it is flavourful. Love the sweet tea and the dinner rolls are soft,warm, fluffy and melts in your mouth. The gravy compliments the chicken. The service was great. This is my favorite fast food fried chicken. Always tastes perfect! Never too greasy and good is always consistent. I really love the corn nuggets and fried okra!

The corn nuggets, gravy and chicken strips keep me coming back what do you put in those? The intercom system and drive through menu needs to be thrown out and updated, last Saturday I couldn't hear anything on the other end. It would be nice to see an itemized list similar to that of McDonald's I know they pull in enough money to afford a new one. Chicken Express Lakeway still gets a full five stars because its always a delightful tasty treat.

1st time back in 7yrs.... The LG Sweet Tea blew me away - no bitter taste, absolutely sweet perfection. And, the Chicken Tenders were Chicken Tenders - no complaints The window attendants were Great & very friendly.

I'll continue to go back. I do miss the Mango Smoothie's. The chicken, the livers, gizzards, yum, yum, Love the gizzards, my favorite, they are fried/cooked perfectly. Never overcooked or under cooked. Thank you. Just writing this is making my mouth water.

The food is always good and fresh. Waited 5 minutes for a new batch but treated with great care while we waited. The drive through staff are always top notch.

Lovely food, the chicken is so good. We didn't know they served fish, let me tell you.. the fish is way better than the chicken. We don't even order chicken anymore. We get all fish. Highly recommend!!!!!

Omg there is a 12 step program somewhere for the people addicted to this place and I'm certain I will end up there! I tried this place out for the first time a few weeks ago and unregister found myself in their drive thru every single day after that week following my work day. Love their Chicken Livers and Corn. I ordered to go and they guy who took my order misunderstood me. I realized it on my way back. Spoke to the manager and he fixed the problem immediately. Very professional. Best Chicken livers in town!

Not from Lakeway so wasn't sure where to go. Went in today and glad I did. Spicy tenders, fries, and a sweat tea hot the spot. Manager was cashier who had great customer service, food was hot and delicious, and got out in a timely manner. Can't go wrong here.

I love Chicken Express. It's a little bit expensive but it's okay because their food is always hot fresh and very filling. Usually I can't get through a whole order of chicken tenders by myself. They always give you a little bit extra to so you'll find yourself with the extra piece of chicken tenders and it's very nice that they're not stingy with their food. Their jalapeno poppers are excellent. My kids love the mac and cheese. And my wife just devours the chicken. I would also recommend trying to corn on the cob but it is very juicy. Excellent chain I always feel guilty after eating there though because I indulge.

We had a family to go order, once I got home we noticed a gravy had been forgotten, I called and Gloria the manager was so kind and helpful. Great management! We need this in our community!

I just had to give a shout out to her!! she used to work at the Chicken Express in Four Points and each time I would go there to get chicken, she would always wait on me. She is beyond kind, super sweet and knows how customer service works. She's very attentive, like I said , very kind!!! I want Dwayne to know who is the owner of the Chicken Express in Four Points. I told her again today how much I appreciated her kindness and customer service and just her overall very pleasant demeanor. Food came out Crispy Crunchy and hot!! I had a taste for Buffalo wings but in the didn't have wings I decided to get the 4 piece chicken strips combo. I wasn't disappointed, the strips were cooked just right and were great dipped in there Sweet Baby Ray's Wing Sauce and in the Ken's Ranch. Also the coleslaw, fries and tea were all good. I'll be back for this again.

I was on the mood for reg. fried chicken wings and decided on Chicken Express. Wow, really impressed, cooked just right and perfect flavor. Love their rolls as well. Gonna try fish next if I can. Not getting more Chicken is not gonna be easy. Probably just get both though. Can't go wrong here people.

This is the first Chicken Express I’ve eaten at before. It’s my favorite fast food restaurant now! I get the green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, either fried chicken or fish (which comes with an amazing tartar sauce that has little pieces of dill pickles), and their unsweetened ice tea. Even though it’s fried, I never “feel” it after: heartburn, too full, etc. Somehow I finish my meal feeling healthy and good! If you’ve never given Chicken Express a try, then you are missing out!

I love all the options for side items and that they have chicken and also fish to select from. I had regular chicken tenders, but wish I would have got them spicy like hubby did because the reg ones are bland but actually decent in sizing compared to the tiny tenders at Chic-fil-a. It’s easy to figure out if you’ve never been there before, service was great, sweet tea was amazing, bathrooms were VERY clean, restaurant was clean with an employee walking around keeping tables wiped off.

Chicken strips with gravy is good… but def add pepper and the seasoned salt. Which they had hot sauce

Good chicken and clean facilities. You wont be disappointed. Price is pretty fair in consideration to other chicken joints.

Food has always been good for me. Place is always clean and since I go on off times, the wait is never more than just a minutes.

I love this place but starting to just not come here more often bc I always have something left out that i ordered. I don't have time to drive all the way back to get what i ordered so I just let it go...kinda frustrating. But the staff is kind.

My favorite fried chicken. And it's a bargain because with a two piece meal you can pick any pieces you want. If I get two breasts. I usually eat one and take one home.

Food was good and the sauces are where it's at. Servoce was great. Glad I finally made it out to eat here. Now I know why so many locals enjoy the food.

This place is a bit far from central Austin, but well worth the drive. The food is excellent and the staff kind. I just wish there were more restaurants around.

The service was really fast, but I was the only customer in the store when I walked in. Cashier was very nice, took the order quickly. The food was good, but not great. It tasted as if it had been under the heat lamps a little bit long, but they were still good - just for the price I was hoping for a bit better.

Great chicken, great fish. Their ice tea is the best in Lakeway or Bee Cave. Can be a little pricey but it is worth it. The wait time for the Drive through can be 10 minutes or longer when busy, which they usually are for good reason.

Friendly drive-thru guy which isn't common in chain fast food places these days since most places are short staffed. No issues with our order, food quality was as expected. Hope they find someone since they told us they're hiring.

We went to drive thru and ordered 3 piece chicken dinner, when we got home and opened the box…only 2 pieces. I went in next day to get the missing piece and manager said it is not their policy to provide unless you call the night it happened. The receipt is not enough proof. Just annoys me that they were so unwilling as obviously, I had been in the night prior, receipt is not enough proof. Follow up: Actually spoke to a different manager the following week and they made good and gave me a whole meal the next time I went in.

The combo meals are good value, and the chicken is crispy. Unfortunately, everything tastes average and may very likely upset your stomach. Happened on few different occasions. Try at your own risk.

When did y'all change to crinkle cut fries? The seasoned fries were so much better. I don't think I'll be back because of the change.

Chicken is bland, absolutely no flavor other than chicken fat. I wish they would make a spicy chicken, or at least add some spices.

Would not recommend the fish. The get is great but the fish is so thin it's like eating a cracker. The sides were okay. Better to just stick with the chicken.

It took longer than I would have hoped for some chicken strips. The sides were really good and about half the chicken tenders were good, but the other half of the tenders were too greasy to eat.

Normally their food is good, but tonight the fried fish filets were very thin and way-over cooked. They were mostly batter with a very thin piece of fish inside. I won’t be ordering fried fish there again, but I do like their chicken, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and cole slaw.

I waited 45 min. For an 8 piece family meal at the head of the drive thru. Had grocerys in the car of course ice cream melted all over the back seat. Got home opened it up and no napkins salt catsup or honey. Fries were cold and chicken was burned. $24,35. Not very happy.

It's okay if you want something in a pinch and are not concerned with quality. They frequently serve non-fresh or overdone tough chicken, especially in the drive-thru. Check your meal before leaving. Their Catfish is so salty you could mistake it for Norwegian salted cod, only not so good. The pic shows a takeout order, tough as shoe leather chicken breast. I was unable to return that meal I couldn't eat. Check your food before you drive off, or eat at the restaurant.

Food was ok. A little pricey for 5 wings. I originally called for a 6 piece wing dinner, that came with wings, and 2 sides for 6.99. He had said they had a special on the 5 wing deal but it somehow was almost 10 bucks. Not sure how that happened.

The place has pretty good food for fast food. Nothing wrong or great about the service. The bathrooms are horrible though. The type of place you don't want to touch the toilet, even trying to flush the toilet using your foot. Sad because the food is good.

The food is good , that is if you get what you order. Again today I got home with my box just to find it was missing my sides and a roll. I shouldn't have to open the box to check while at the window but I will start doing that. There is no excuse for this.

Food is good when you get it. Over the last 3 years I have not ONCE came home with the correct order. I now check my order in the drive-thru so they can correct it at that time.

Just stole my money. Family jalapeno poppers and apple pie cost 6.42. Gave them a $20 and was given back $6.42. My fault for not checking but there was a long line and I was trying to keep it moving. Check your s*** before leaving, can't do simple math.

My chicken strips were not fresh and barely warm. The fries were hot and fresh but not the chicken.

When at the pickup window in the drive through, the hygiene seemed not up to par and they were disorganized with the orders. An employee opened my Coke and stuck his face in it to sniff check before giving it to me. Gross.

So when did the hot wings turn into chicken nuggets. They gave me 50% of my order correct I guess. Asked for for biscuits got napkins. Had family rolls got 3. Ordered green beans got no beans. This place used to be good but I guess canes it is from now on.

Chicken is meh, which is what you'd expect. A lot of bone, fat and grease with very little meat. I ordered 3 family sides of mashed potatoes and I got 3 sides Mac & Cheese instead. I live 20 minutes away. That's a 40 minute drive to fix their mistake. The person at the window made the mistake. Spoke with the manager and all he did was apologize and offer to have me drive 40 minutes to pick up the correct half of my order. I don't feel I should have to check my order to make sure it's correct before I leave. It should've been done at the window and instead I was told my total would be done at the window and to drive up. When I drove up, he didn't go over the order. He just took my card and handed me my food. I drove away expecting to get what I ordered.

Would not cook gizzards 30 minutes before closing...also they say it takes an extra 8 mins for gizzards, but actually takes 15. We have had an issue getting our order wrong & they were not willing to issue a refund for the next time we visit. This is really the last straw with them in our opinion. We can go elsewhere.

Sat in the drive-through line for 30+ min without it moving after ordering (only 2 cars in front of me). Left the line, never got my food.

Chicken express has good food. I ordered through Door Dash and when I didn’t get my drink, I called Chicken Express. No help from them as manager said it was Door Dash’s fault and I have to take it up with them. Impossible to know who’s fault but Chicken Express has an arrangement with Door Dash to post menus, take orders, and deliver their food so they should take more ownership of delivery of their product instead of passing the buck.

I ordered some hot wings and it took them about 20 mins to get that order ready when they had told me it will only be about 5-10min and when I went in to tell them. They didn’t even sound apologetic or anything about it. Good food but the service is not so well. And my meal was also missing all the napkins and stuff.

Oven broken no rolls, no biscuits, no Mac and cheese. So they substituted it with hush puppies. They only gave two small ones. No other options. Then they just assumed I wanted an all crab meal instead of the combo I ordered. So when I asked for my side he said he assumed I didn't want one and charged me for a separate side. Ended up paying more then if he would just listened to what I ordered.

Went to Chicken Express today. I was given moldy bread and it was covered in a slimy substance. The chicken I was given was old and was like it had sat out and they just reheated it. This staff does not know how to give out fresh food. They are in dire need of coaching and development.

Poor customer service, sat at the drive thru order menu for 5 minutes making eye contact with employee who takes the orders several times never once asked what is like to order or anything. For a drive through you would think they would at least ask if you need a minute to look! Not just disappear and never once communicate with you! Needless to say I am highly anticipating the opening of Raising Cane's next to the new H-E-B.

I called about over cooked fish and was told the health department tells them how long to cook the fish. I am a licensed sanitarian and there is no regulation to cook fish by time. There is a warning to let customers know eating raw or undercooked fish can be a hazard. They don’t tell anyone to over cook. My complaint is chicken express over cooked my fish It was like fish chips I called the manager and he just gave me lip service He said email corporate and gave me a bogus address Thanks for nothing and a $32.00 bill for 8 pieces of chicken, 4 tenders and 2 crispy pieces of fish

Went today and it was not only slow but they got my entire order wrong. After explaining exactly what i wanted and paying extra for what i got. I love chicken express but will not return to this location.

Today service was horrible. Tried ordering inside. Lady took part of my order and walked off. Went around to drive thru. Placed order. Drove up and paid. Waited and waited. Finally got order. Got home. Of course I did not get complete order. Tried calling. It seems phone is off the hook.That team needs to be replaced

Stop by today to get some chicken and the open sign was off the dining room lights were off and there was nobody visible any place in the store. So I drove around and went over to Sonic and got chicken strips while sitting at Sonic I noticed somebody in the Drive-Thru getting food. It was 9:00 p.m. one hour before posted close time. Apparently the night shift doesn't feel like working so they just shut the lights off

Well the word Express in their name is for taking your money quickly haven't been in over 3 years overpriced not very good. I took my mother we got their tender special 2 iced teas and 2 cookie plus we tipped and it was over $30 there's are too many places in Austin where you can spend $30 for lunch for two and not be disappointed as we were.

I waited at the counter for 10 minutes as 2 employees took care of the drive thru orders. Nobody looked at me nor spoke to me. I tried to get the employees attention but I dont the he spoke any english. Or he was ignoring me. 6 cars went through the drive thru and still nobody looked in my direction. Me and my brothers made the decision to leave. Go through the drive thru if you do go.

The bone in wings is nothing but bone and batter barely any chicken on the wing. This place needs to be replaced with some other restaurant.

Just ordered fish…2piece and a 3 piece. Got home and there is nothing in the box but tartar sauce and fries. I feel like this was a prank….they can’t be serious. Called the store 4x’s…..no answer. So I paid $30 for tartar sauce and fries. I am so annoyed 😡

Went to get 2 #1 and a #3. Truck in front was talking 10 minutes with person in the delivery window ordering $200 of food. Finally truck pulled up a tiny bit. Everyone behind us were getting their food and leaving the line. Employees acted incompetent not giving a military discount followed by "Our breasts will be done soon" Replies, "We didn't ORDER White meat!" TOTALLY INCOMPETENT AND NEGLIGENT STAFF!

Don't spend your money here unless you want to get ripped off. Ordered through drive through, came home and some of my sides were missing. Called and spoke to manager who said they changed their refund policy to where they can no longer refund my money due to missing food that was an ERROR ON THEIR END!!! Unacceptable as this was their fault. I've had instances like this happen before at other restaurants and they were always sincere and would fix it by refunding what was necessary. But this place won't do it. So be aware that if CHICKEN EXPRESS SCREWS UP YOUR ORDER, YOU WON'T GET A REFUND ON THEIR MISTAKE!!! Even though that's the right thing to do and to keep your customers happy. I will NEVER return to this place again.

This place used to be worth it, but if you’re craving chicken/fried you’re better off going to a burger place nearby that also serves chicken. On par with everything else. They used to have the best fries, then they changed em. Prices have gone up ridiculously for even a simple thing of tenders. The spicy tenders are usually what we come for and even those half the time they don’t even have. Sad, but spend your money elsewhere

Terrible service, when picking up an online order and when it arrives it is not ready and you see through the window an older man with hands full of flour preparing the drinks, putting the glasses in the ice container instead of using the spoon for hygiene... food safety does not exist here

I recently went through the drive thru at this location and a girl named Aracelli took my order and I have never had a worse experience going through a drive thru. She was very rude and arrogant and after everything I ordered she made some type of snarky comments like “are you done yet?” and when I asked if I could get a Dr. Pepper she said “yeah obviously”. I could’ve sworn after tasting my drink that she spit in it. I tried to stay very polite and respectful throughout the whole experience because I understand that working in fast food can be annoying at times but I just wanted to speak up about this because I can’t imagine how she would treat other customers.

I really wish this location would do better about customer service and management making sure that employees are trained to get the orders right. The food is genuinely solid and consistent. The problem is, they have gotten my order wrong the only 3 times I have gone here. Which is a shame, because they are so close to Kanes and have much better food. The first time I ordered a chicken strip basket, which I took back to work and in opened to 3 chicken thighs and nothing else. I have a short lunch break and was hungry so I ate one of the thighs and saved the rest to take back and get my money back. When I returned the next day, the manager refused to give me my money back and offered a replacement meal, which of course was wrong again, no French fries. Just strips and bread. I don’t leave a lot of reviews, but wanted to give them another shot, so today I order a #1 with an extra side instead of a drink… and of course wrong again no side. I’ve really hate leaving bad reviews on a place that has good food, but the way the manager treated me when I brought the chicken thighs back was unacceptable and embarrassing. He told me I had eaten too much of the meal to issue a refund. I only ate the one though because it was all the food I had had that day. And I had to drive back twice to fix the problem. My advice: inspect your order.
