First of all, this place is hands-down such a vibe. A Latin experience with flavor out of this world.. if you’re in the Lakewood area I definitely recommend checking out this place!!! They have drink specials throughout the week! when we went, It was on a Monday, which is eight dollar Mojito Monday. I usually get the red sangria.. the fresh fruit they use makes it so fresh and flavorful. The empanadas which are a beef and potato stuffed situation.. omfg they are AHHH-MAZZZIIINGGGG😮‍💨😮‍💨 Also get the corn queso and add chicken as an appetizer you’ll thank me later. All of their arepas are good, As your side, get the yucca fries and dip them in their garlic aïoli sauce, which is on the table. MMMMMM Last but not least try some of their Latin desserts, even their brownie sundae, which is piled with M&Ms and it’s literally insane. You just have to try it. 10/10 every time. Will always recommend.

This was our second visit and it was even better than our first visit! The drinks tasted like a first day of a beach vacation. The steak and chicken dishes were A+++. This is a meal we will talk about for a long time! Our server, Mariana, was so sweet and efficient and took the time to answer all of our questions!!!

So I like to post places that do vegetarian options really well, and Barracos is one such place. I got the Fajita’s with sofrito potatoes, honestly expecting to be disappointed, but they were a great surprise - tender spiced potatoes, nice char on the fajita veggies and plenty of it, a great option for vegetarians. Side note: The Mojitos are amazing and easily worth the visit just by themselves.

This is one of my fave restaurants. Everything is so good. From the drinks to the food, everything is just delicious. I loooved the Coconut Mojito. (Pictured) They are usually busy. I recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekend evenings.

This place is so good! The tostadas con todo is maybe the best appetizer platter in Cleveland. The arepas are awesome, the cheesy corn dip 👌. Anything with the slow braised beef protein will be a _~#*winner*#~_ I guarantee it. So tender. Fabian our waiter was great. Every time we come to service is great!

Food was all super fresh and homemade. Large portions and absolutely delicious. The smoked colada is one of the best drinks that I've ever had. Nice patio as well.

Our server was Camila! She was very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed the churrasco steak and my passionfruit mojito. Best steak I have had in a while!

Sofia was amazing! Prompt and helpful! The new chedder burger was so good! It was hot, hot, hot! Watch that tongue! The appetizer of corn and chicken queso... chefs kiss! Come out and eat!

Always love finding these hidden gems around Cleveland! Barroco is pure Latino food from many different backgrounds with heavy authentic dishes prepared with quality ingredients in a truly unique environment. A great place to go for a lively experience with friends, family, or a chill meal with a significant other. Prices are not too bad. Service is excellent. Parking can be a bit tough off the street if you go during busy hours. But the food is by far 100% worth it! Details: The food is by far the star of this restaurant! The super flavorful dishes are kept fresh and updated with new menu options every few months, and will take you on a delicious journey across many Hispanic countries with authentic preparation and ingredients. The result will surely blow you away with amazing flavors and variety that will leave you full but still craving more. Their drinks are also pretty unique. Overall their prices are not bad considering the value you get to experience. In terms of service, it was wonderful to have friendly waiters that help you navigate the extensive menu and ingredients, and we even got complimentary lime shots on our way out! No wonder they won so many awards over the years. Vegan and vegetarian options are available and many dishes can be modified as needed, just ask. The atmosphere is truly unique. From the lively Hispanic music, one-of-a-kind walls where you can leave other guests (or your future self) a message, to the overall vibe, Barroco really does it well enough to stand out. Mostly indoor seating with decor as vibrant as their dishes. Restrooms were well maintained. Parking can be a challenge if you go during peak hours as it is free off the street. You may need to walk a little to get there however it'll be more than worth it for the flavors. Overall this is one place I will be keeping track of to experience their constantly updating menu of exceptional flavors. 100% recommend!

Amazing. My first time and I'm considering moving just so I can eat here more often. Victoria was super sweet and helpful. Drink and meal was amazing. Everything so cute. Will definitely come back.

It was my first time being there. Firstly, we were confused when the staff offered us the tequila shot in the lime cup. We were not sure because we never had been in any place offered us the tequila shot as a complimentary drink. 😆 I just wanted to say that it was super awesome. The food was delicious as in Latin American style. I couldn’t be more happy with their cocktails. 🍸

This was my first visit here and it did not disappoint. Our server was so sweet, kind, and attentive. We loved the drinks and the food, and the sauces were great. I'm putting this spot in our regular rotation.

I was so excited to find this place. Not sure how I've never been here. Service was super attentive. Atmosphere is AWESOME! So much art to look at AND Bring Your Own Pen so you can sign the walls making it even more unique. The food was amazing. Flavorful and there is definitely enough for another meal. Drinks were fresh and went down a little too easy. Definitely recommend stopping here and bring all your friends!

The food here is amazing. We had the Cheesy Corn appetizer, empanadas, and Hawaiian arepas. Everything was very good and gluten free. The interior has an awesome atmosphere, lots of interesting things on the walls and lights strung on the ceiling. There is also an outdoor seating area. Happy hour cocktail specials.

This place is a whole vibe, prepare to be transported out of Ohio! So cute, warm, and welcoming. I love the atmosphere and music. Drinks are PHENOMENAL, food and service is also great! HIGHLY recommend trying this spot out!!

Had a great experience at Barroco. The food was amazing; had the Sancocho de Doña Liliana soup to start off, which was really good. Then, I tried the Birria Torta which was absolutely amazing. The bread was so well done, the sauces other than the added extras were amazing, and the meat was delicious. The added sauces were then also a great addition, specifically the chimichurri and pineapple sauces stood out. The Yuca fries are a great combo with any of those added sauces. The service was also great, Cristina was our server and she was really nice and attentive. The food came out pretty fast which was a plus. Highly recommended try overall!

The food was fenomenal! So delicious. The atmosphere and decor is very interesting, it does get pretty loud in the restaurant when it’s busy. We ordered a mojito pitcher, and it was STRONG! I will definitely be going back.

I went here for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. It was very authentic. The atmosphere was very vibrant and in love how they allow people to mark their signatures on the wall. That was really different. For appetizer we order the beef empanadas. Fresh and taste good as well. The pico on the side was so fresh. For my entree I ordered the chicken and shrimp fajitas . It was delicious. It’s nothing like the Mexican restaurant fajitas . With the rice, beans, lettuce but how it came was delicious. We like the white sauces they had on the side as well.

Barroco Arepa Bar Nestled in Cleveland, Ohio, Barroco Arepa Bar was established by Juan Vergara and his family in 2011. What began as a modest spot in Lakewood's Birdtown neighborhood with limited seating and takeout options has grown into a culinary favorite. The expansion to new locations speaks volumes about the increasing demand for Barroco’s authentic Colombian cuisine and lively dining atmosphere. Barroco's menu showcases a variety of traditional Latin American dishes, from empanadas and plantains to its standout arepas—grilled corn pockets brimming with an array of fillings. The restaurant is celebrated for its vibrant ambiance, often featuring live music and a popular weekend brunch. By 2017, Barroco had opened a new spot on Larchmere Boulevard, and by 2018, it had launched a third location in Crocker Park’s West Park, extending its unique dining experience to even more of Cleveland. Starting off with the empanada appetizers is a must. These Latin turnovers boast a crispy corn crust and are packed with savory braised beef and potato, served alongside freshly made sofrito. For the main course, I chose to tweak their Ropa Vieja dish. Traditionally slow-roasted braised beef in a fragrant stew, accompanied by maduros, Cuban black beans, and rice, I opted for pernil instead of beef—pork was calling my name today. Dessert featured the caramel flan, a beautifully crafted Spanish caramel custard made in-house. The restaurant's decor is strikingly beautiful, exuding a hip and lively vibe, complemented by an incredibly friendly staff. Chatting with a departing patron, she raved about the food, underscoring the widespread acclaim. The verdict? Absolutely phenomenal! Definitely worth the visit! And be sure to ask for Jackie, she was my server and I highly recommend her!

Excellent food! Relaxed, casual atmosphere. The plantains are phenomenal! The house beer is a mix between a white sangria with a light fruity passion fruit beer, delicious! Come hungry, the arepas are deceivingly filling.

Never a less than awesome experience. One person in my party has celiac disease, and our waitress was so helpful with accommodating and made our dinner completely stress free. We ordered a few different dinners to share, and they were all amazing. The staff is always so friendly and efficient, and the food is unbelievable. It’s a really great place to go if you want to relax and enjoy a fabulous meal in a vibrant environment.

I ordered the Churrasco steak & it was cooked Medium rare to perfection. Spicy peanut sauce was a nice surprise, better than expected. The atmosphere was very cool, tons of Christmas lights up at the time. My friend & I were even offered complimentary tequila shots at entry 😂 Highly recommend checking it out!

Food was copious and well prepared. We had a taster plate with tostones. Arepas, ropa vieja, soup, and platano. Everything came quick and our server Daniela was diligent, lovely, and very kind. As we started eating it started raining pretty heavily and we moved to another spot under a patio umbrella and the thunderstorm made it hard to serve but she went out of her way to make sure we were served. Full marks and we loved the experience.

We visit the area and my husband and I looking for the one of the great restaurants in the area we found BARRACO on the list we visited and tried the place! The ambiance is such a unique and very vibrant colors your mood will feel so happy and you feel like it’s not a Boring place. Well we seated outside since we requested to and the server is very friendly, helpful explained the different type of sauces and she’s also funny to. Lol … We really enjoy the food so authentic and the FLAN Is the BEST so creamy and yummy 😋😋😋 I highly recommend this as your dessert. My husband also tried Cuban sandwiches which is great and the empanadas is good but bit pricey. Overall we really satisfied that we visit here I really enjoy my dining experience! I will be back soon!

I lived the atmosphere here. I ate in a semi outdoor area. Service was friendly and prompt. Ceviche was delicious, large for an appetizer. I also had pork arepa that was wonderful. You can choose from 5 sauces to keep each bite a little different. Had a blast here.

We tried pretty much all of the appetizers. I think the empanadas were our favorites. Our service was terrific. Oddly, they didn't have any Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. I survived anyway. I would definitely go back

Barroco is our favorite place to eat. Great family restaurant, even better for date night. It's the best Colombian food we've found in 5 states. The portions are always enough to eat dinner, and still take some home. Always fresh. Don't go here expecting to be in and out, they do take their time but if you eat Colombian, you already are aware of there never being a rush. The bandeja paisa is delicious, the empanadas are good, the sancocho is top notch. We'd eat here weekly if it was cost effective to do it. There aren't any typical booths like in American restaurants, but there is some bench seating, and some of the tables have comfy couches on one side.

Joseph was our server and he was friendly, helpful and provided excellent service to our table. The food and drinks here are always great! We had the empanada appetizer with margaritas as well as the birria torta and a burger.

Amazing and delicious!! Our family of 8 just had an amazing birthday dinner and cannot say enough about our food and service! Christina our server was wonderful and knowledgeable about the menu and her suggestions were top tier! For the areapas , the somo lotatdo, the poutine was delicious! I will be back very soon!

D
Dan Hemnme

Our server, Joseph, was very friendly. Food was also great! They say their mojito is the "best on the planet." I haven't had a huge number of mojitos in my life, but I can't argue against their claim here. I haven't had a mojito this good before. Their "spicy peanut" sauce made me question atheism. No human could have possibly created something this good.

We stumbled upon this location since we were looking for Latin food and the reviews were great and I'm glad we did. The interior is appropriately fun and the look from the walking in does not give you a sense of the size of the restaurant until you pass the take out area. When we walked in they had a complimentary drink available, which we didn't even see coming. The tables are cozy and the atmosphere is great. We had Joseph as our waiter and even though he said he was relatively new he had a great grasp of dealing with customers and was more than happy to accommodate us. Our food came out quickly and was delicious! Also, try all the sauces that they have, you won't be disappointed.

Moe served this past Sunday while we were in town. He had great energy and was so nice to talk to as we were settling in. He had been there ALL DAY! So nice to have a server still have a positive attitude at by the end of the week. Steak Maduro was amazing!

Barroco is our family's favorite restaurant in Lakewood. The food is delicious and super fresh, and we love the drinks - especially the caipirinhas. But our favorite part of Barroco is the staff, hospitality, and atmosphere - it always feels like a special dining experience. And the festive decor is so cheery making it seem like we are miles away from Ohio, especially in the middle of winter. The people of Barroco are the best part, and they are always so kind and generous with my kids.

Sofia M was fantastic! We love this place, it is always an amazing experience. Sofia was super attentive and kind and really made the night special. The La Musa drink was amazing, we cant believe we haven’t tried it before! 11/10 could not recommend this plave enough Thank you Sofia!!

J

It's a cute restaurant with some good artwork on the walls and very good latin food. Our waitress was very nice and answered any questions we had. The menu has a variety of items on it. We got birriatrepa arepas. You get a side with it. I recommend the side salad and consome on the side. I will be back to try their empanadas. The only con is that the prices are high.

Second time here. The food is a little overpriced but it is good. Not the most amazing meal ever, but tasty. I think it’s one of those places where you have to find the right dish for yourself. Traditional mojito was okay, nothing special. Music is played a little too loud. Definitely call and make a reservation. The monster size drink container was very awkward to drink from.

D
Dan

I found the steak to be quite tough, which led me to box it up rather than finish it. The yucca fries seemed undercooked to me. However, the arepas and the rice and beans stood out as the highlights of my meal. I had high hopes for this place and might return to explore other menu items. Additionally, I believe the server could have provided better suggestions. On a positive note, the sauce cart was an interesting touch.

J
Joe Leszyeski

Absolutely ridiculously way too long to wait to get service almost an hour plus to be seated. I understand high volume maybe due to how great the food is, but then also almost an hour+ to get food maybe even a little longer but I can appreciate good food only got one water the entire time being here. But again the entire experience was worth the amazing food. I believe, adding more staff would fix these problems and this place would be 10 out of 10

Z
Ziia !!!

I would give 4.5 but since I can’t, I’m giving 5. They only thing I would “complain” about is the prices; are a little overpriced. But other than that… everything is delicious! The waiters were fantastic and so welcoming. We were 9 and all of us love the food. And let me say, Puerto Rico is the birthplace for the “piñacolada” they say 😂 but IVE NEVER IN US tried a “piñacolada” so well elaborated and that tasted sooo good. Is the best one in Cleveland, Lakewood, Medina, Parma and list can go on. I just loved the place. In 2026 I have to edit this review from 3 years ago. cause They have change ALOT. They keep changing the menu, the prices, their food it’s not good as before. Everything it’s expensive and it’s not worth the price. I rate it a 2 now. Been going for so long, but now I go to the one at Crocker Park! Better flavors, menu items and prices. 🙃

G

This place needs new servers & a new chef! Got there & was seated quickly, wasn’t busy at all. Received our food. beans, straight out the can, Guacamole had a big piece of hard avocado in the middle like if it was hidden. White rice was super sticky and mushy. Service was horrible, she was gone for over an hour, no sort of “everything okay?” Nope! none of that . Had to get up & pay in the front. I’ll never recommend this place to nobody. !
