The nopales tacos and the asada tacos were terrific. They came out quickly and were served with a warm smile. This place is clean. I’d go again. The cafe de Olla needs more cinnamon and clove, but was made with quality coffee that tasted quite fresh and didn’t leave me jittery.
So delicious! The fish taco was huge and incredibly fresh. The veggie taco was super flavorful as well so your veggie friends will be in for a treat. La Cocina is a wonderful organization and this restaurant is a shining example of the talented family restaurants they foster! So worth a visit!
My partner and I had a terrific experience eating at El Huarache Loco! The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting with beautiful furnishings and art pieces. We ate outside in the patio area and enjoyed a delicious variety of salsas and horchata. My tacos were so tasty with fresh grilled beef. My partner enjoyed a delicious plate of enchiladas. We will definitely be back!
Love this place. The fish tacos are KILLER! Staff is attentive, the portions are decent, the food is beautiful and delicious. Nothing like ordering your food and finding a place on the patio in the shade of an unbrella during a lovely spring day. Update: It's a cold, rainy, February day. I'm sitting here slurping down a delicious made-to-order Lamb Stew. It's so 🔥 and delicious. Only order extra meat if you want double meat. I barely eat meat, so I feel like I'm eating 4 portions. Exceptional.
Had the Quesabirria Tacos. Good portion of 2 tacos and broth. Their habañero sauce was good but eat with caution! 😂 The salsa Verde was also good. The tacos were meaty and cheesy and have that comfort food quality and the broth was real good as well. I highly recommend this place for their food and service which were 5 stars!
Solid tacos. Huge portions. Great guacamole that is super fresh if a bit spicy with fresh jalipinos in it. Kind staff. Can make any changes you need and you will walk away happy. Such a great place and excellent prices to boot.
Veronica the owner is so kind and their food is delicious. They are a family owned business and have been in this community for a long time. As other restaurants have come and gone, there's a reason why they continue to be here. It's simply because they take care of their customers.
They were super busy. It was a holiday and it appeared they might've been understaffed. Unfortunately we couldn't get a margarita, I'm assuming because they were short staffed, but the food was delicious. Chilequiles and beef enchiladas... yum!
I've been to this El Huarache Loco a handful of times and have always been impressed with the high quality and authenticity their food. The staff is also kind and caring. I can assure you won't be disappointed if you're looking for a tasty authentic Mexican meal/dish at a good price.
Fish Taco - delicious and reasonably priced especially for the size. Jicama Salad - all ingredients are very fresh and the portion is quite substantial for one person. Both dishes were slightly lacking in flavor but I'm sure this is to accommodate those that prefer things on the mild side. The self serve orange salsa is delicious and gives everythinga nice flavor contrast and kick! The freshness of the ingredients, the portions, and the service make this a 5 star rating for me.
Absolutely freshest most authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had! Staff was super friendly and welcoming! I think I have a new abuella now. The family owned business really is heart warming and felt at home eating with my girlfriend. 10/10 would go back any day of the week! Support this family owned business!
El Huarache Loco is an absolute gem! Everything we've tried here is high quality and delicious. Our favorites are the steak tacos, huaraches, and chilaquiles. The atmosphere is wonderful and it's become a gathering place for our entire family to enjoy the food and each other's company. Highly recommend!
The food is amazing! I was so hungry and it smelled so good that I forgot to take pics. I got the Al Pastor taco and the cod taco. So flavorful. You get a huge piece of cod too. And the tortillas are made from scratch and taste so good. I definitely recommend trying this place.
The tacos were very yummy and authentic. The service was friendly and prompt. The sangria was absolutely amazing, with fresh fruit inside at a great price. In a great location next to the ferry in a picturesque shopping plaza.
What can I say about this place, no much really but, just kidding, the food was great, we order tacos and a quezadilla , meat nice and tender and flavors were all good , I will be back for more.
Great food! I got the chile relleno. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable for the area
Went with group of friends. I ordered Huarache con Alambre. Was tasty and good portion size. The only reason i gave 4 stars was because it's a bit pricy. Great atmosphere and beautiful presentation.
Authentic Mexican flavors and dishes in a nice, spacious, clean setting. Really liked the huaraches, which you don't see on too many menus. The serving size is substantial, and you can pile on more tasty salsa at your table if you like. Solid spot for great Mexican food!
Great place to eat and have a snack or a full meal. We ordered nachos with guacamole and quesadillas, both delicious and well balanced flavors. The staff is actually latino and nice :) the outside tables are very large and inside they play good music. The service was quick and efficient. Only little tiny complain is that not every table is always clean, which is why I gave a 4 stars to the atmosphere and not 5, everything else is great though. Wonderful, would recommend! Byeeee
Came in with my coworker of course he’d already been here 🤦🏾 the service was impeccable and I even felt the woman owned atmosphere we were thirsty and yes I’ve learned throughout my year to not ask about the heat in the salsa it’s all spicy! The watermelon margarita was to die for…I wiped the salt off the rim and kind of gulped it 😋
Good is fantastic and very authentic. The restaurant is decorated with a real Mexican vibe. 👌
You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Spicy good Mexican food. The tostada was delicious and the least spicy of our choices. The huevos rancheros came with a spicy red sauce.

The courtyard is gorgeous and people working there are so nice. But the food is what’s most amazing, it was our first time trying the huarache and it was so delicious! Will be back to try more, so worth the drive from SF!
Just had the chicken enchiladas mole. I never leave reviews but had to say how incredibly delicious and satisfying they were!
I understand I’m in the richest county in America, but at least make the prices somewhat reasonable, $18 for two tacos and some birria? My $6 dollar horchata was very good at least. And my quesobirria was very good.
This place has gone seriously downhill. The last two visits have been an awful experience. The tables are dirty and staff seemed annoyed when asked to wipe our table. We ordered tacos which took over 30 minutes. We were almost late to an event. The tacos are simply terrible. Sad to see the decline.

Good food for a great price! Service was a bit slow but was worth to wait for it. Fish tacos were a good size and tasty. Also, the plate with ham, sausage and veggies were really good. Definitely coming back for more.
Very good food. Fresh and made to order. I had cheese enchiladas and ate every bite. There is indoor and outdoor seating in a garden-like area. Service was efficient and friendly. I would go there again if in the area.
Stopped by El Huarache Loco for dinner and enjoyed it. It’s a bright, casual spot with a chill vibe and friendly staff—perfect for a laid-back meal. The margarita was simple and refreshing—not too sweet, nice lime flavor, and just strong enough. Great pairing with the food.
Ordered delivery for lunch and was happily surprised at how flavorful the food was and how hearty the portions were. Posole for my husband, burrito for me, and a side of al pastor to try. So good. Will definitely swing by and eat in the future.

The Gordita lacked any crispness, as the shell was a dense pancake, and the raw onions and cilantro were topped by the pastor. The portion was serviceable, but it lacked the mouth feel without that crunch. And why are a small basket of chips $4.50?
Mexican Food a bit on the pricey side for Mex. Clean interior and patio dining led me to believe it would be a little more on the upscale side than it turned out to be. Tacos were a little on the greasy side.
This place has gone hill a bit. Everything needed salt and acid. The fish on the fried fish taco was excellent. But the salsas, the crema, the jicama Pina salad all needed salt, vinegar and or lime. The salad looked sad and maybe had been sitting around a while. The counter person was nice. News everywhere attacking our food outside—fans would help. I’ve been going here for years and like this place. It seems the chef could pay more attention to the seasoning and flavors.

Super average Mexican food. I ordered fajitas which were served cold on a plate and not a skillet. They had good flavor, I just wish it was served hot. There also isn’t any dessert which I think would make this place better.
Fast food quality at a luxury price. We had the chicken quesadilla and chicken enchiladas. The chicken was really rubbery and nothing was very good. Chips were ok. We both decided taco Bell would have tasted better and wouldn't have cost $40.
The food is great but the service is bad. They mess up the order, take ages (half an hour for a fish taco), and refuse to refund money for their mistakes. Also on the pricier side.
I’m a proponent of supporting local businesses so I was anxious to try them out. And, they have biria specials, which I love! My first meal came with a bone and 2 bay leaves and were somehow in the body of the meat. I choked on one of the bay leaves. So, I wanted to give them another try and came home to a Tuesday taco special order which was not my order. I was resigned to just eat it but I tossed it as it was completely flavorless. I could not tell you if it was chicken, pork, pastor or whatever other protein. I phoned the restaurant and spoke with one of the owners and told her of the situation. I apologized to her and told her that I didn’t mean to be a bitxch but I thought for their prices that there would be more care with their food. I guess she put me in my place and was offended that I said the word, twice. So much for giving them another try.
I make better q uesadillas at home for the half the price and twice of portion that tastes better and I can’t even cook, tacos should be $0.99 they’re so small. This place needs serious improvement, honestly.
I wish I had looked at the reviews before choosing this one out of all the cute restaurants In Larkspur Landing. But I was hungry and craving Mexican food. These were the worst fish tacos I've ever had. I think they were frozen pieces of battered fish that were thrown in the deep fryer and then put in a fried tortilla with some tasteless slaw. There was no hint of flavor or spice. I threw most of it away. It would have been better from the bar next door. The staff is very nice, at least.

What a disappointment!! We had come to this restaurant for lunch a couple of years ago and thought it was very good. When we came back today, the food was dreadful. It's also expensive, but we wouldn't have minded the cost if the quality was reasonable. Our "chicken enchiladas" consisted of some bland cheese wrapped in tortillas with strips of hard, dried out chicken laid across the top. Both the mole sauce and the salsa verde were flavorless and the dishes were just lukewarm. We couldn't figure out why the food was not at least hot, since the restaurant was fairly empty and had just opened for the day. If this is typical of their food, it's surprising they can stay in business in this area, where people know and appreciate good Mexican cuisine.

Worst Food Ever! Came here to enjoy a family day out and spent $150 on dry, day old, bland food. The kids sopita was oily bland and served with blander rice and beans; the tacos dorados are pinky length (should be on the antojitos menu not regular menu); the steak was dry; the best item on the menu was the chicken street tacos; not Mexico City quality or style by a long shot and extremely overpriced for the poor quality of items offered. If Latinos are saying it's bad a it's bad!
We were nearby and I was in the mood for Mexican food so we thought we’d give it a try. I ordered the chicken enchiladas mole and chips and salsa bar (they have plastic baskets of chips stacked up which are not fresh, and a ramekin of salsa crudo so small you can only get a corner of a chip in - all for $4.50!) while she ordered the Huarache chicken. If it’s in their name she thought they should be good. She never found out. When our food came out, I got mine, but she got a plate of chicken mole. That she did not order. She neither likes or ever orders mole. When we told the server that, she said that was what we ordered. Only I heard her order Huarache chicken. The one who didn’t was the guy at the register who takes the orders. Then in order to prove her point, the server brought out the ticket which only proves he typed in the wrong order. She told us she couldn’t and wouldn’t replace her meal. We sat there awkwardly waving flies away (both doors were wide open on a gloomy, cool day) while I picked at my enchiladas. The mole had a stale, musty taste, and the plate of food looked as gray as the sky. We got up and left $50+ of food on the table. It’s the first time I’d ever done that. I let them know I was not happy and would be writing a negative review. They simply did not care. Not a good way to run a business. Good news is that just a few miles away in San Rafael, Sabor a Mexico had a table for two just waiting for us. Unlike El Huarache Loco, this place is inviting and warm, service is friendly and respectful, and the food is appetizing, colorful, hot and delicious. And complimentary warm chips and salsa are brought out as soon as you sit down. Miles apart in more ways than one. We will never, ever go back to El Huarache Loco and will warn everybody we like to stay away from it.
Ordered the mole, enchiladas, and jicama salad, all of which was extremely disappointing. The meat was drier than shoe leather. Everything tasted bland and boring. I would go somewhere else for food.
This place is not authentic Mexican food — not even authentic Mexican-American food. It’s so watered down that the only genuinely Mexican thing about it is the people in the kitchen. I ordered a gordita, something I’ve enjoyed countless times in Mexico City, and what I received was so far from the real thing that I had to send a picture to my mother out of sheer disbelief. It might as well have been called a sope or a flaquita — anything but a gordita. The flavors are flat, the tacos lack any depth or seasoning, and there isn’t even a proper serving of refried beans anywhere in sight. Everything tastes like it was designed for people who want to say they’ve had Mexican food without actually experiencing it. It’s painfully clear this place caters to a crowd that values aesthetics over authenticity — people who want something “ethnic” enough to post about but mild enough not to challenge their palate. If you genuinely believe this food is authentic, you might want to reevaluate what authenticity means to you.
